On the hills of the Scottish shores lived Thyra, a highly respected sword maiden and trainer, and one of her village’s most trusted female warriors. She is surprised and disgruntled when her friend and leader, Sören, orders her to guide the suspicious newcomers on a King’s quest to the Point. Though she objects, it is of no use to argue with a Jürgensen, and she reluctantly leads the newcomers on their secretive journey. One of the men had caught her eye. A tall, blue-eyed Dane she spied on the prow of the ship when they first arrived. Sven had been struck by Thyra’s beauty and intelligence and made it his personal mission to antagonize her, which became much easier when they were propelled into each other’s company under several circumstances. An emergency that leads to the group being trapped in a cave may pull everyone apart.
Peyton Lawson writes Steamy Instalove Romance that burns hard and loves harder—Viking warriors, grumpy mountain men, and the curvy heroines who bring them to their knees. Her stories deliver action, emotion, and no-fade heat with guaranteed HEAs. When she’s not writing, she’s reading, hiking, or chasing her next wild escape.
This was a great start to a series. Vikings coming to Keltish lands in search of stolen Danish gold linked to a potential English army invasion is an interesting plot. For a novella, I found the descriptive imagery quite rich while introducing many of the key characters. Thyra and Sven have an initial connection that is questioned and tested as the journey ensues. For a quick read, I enjoyed the portion of the story presented and the way the next novella in the series was suggested.
I received an ARC and am voluntarily sharing my honest review.
Treasure, Rewards, Vikings: This Viking story features Sven with his warriors are on a mission for their king and Thyra is the guide to show them the way through the mountains and passes. Sven tries to flirt a bit with Thyra but she's not having it. Gives him the cold shoulder. Well, when the frost thaws and she starts to see at him in a different light and soon spark's do fly. Their romance blossoms. The group is caught in a very dangerous situation and brave rescues occur, but they have not accomplished their mission for the king yet. From there the story continues to the next book. Adult Advisory: 3.5 Star rounded up to 4 Con: Book is too short and could have used more depth in the romance.
Amazing how easy it was to delve into this pleasurable story in such a short time! The characters are likable and lively. The historical setting flows nicely, a backdrop to the intriguing and sultry romance. I hope to read more! Just getting back into fiction and Peyton Lawson's writing is an awesome, enjoyable read.
I received a copy in exchange for my honest review. Overall, I feel like I have read a fanfic that was not edited before being posted. There are multiple errors on the first page alone, much less throughout the rest of the story. Errors I encountered were in the following categories: punctuation, capitalization, formatting, and incorrect word usage. All occur multiple times throughout the story. This definitely needs a professional editor as well as to be proofread by someone before resubmitting to Kindle. The story itself felt far too rushed and the end of it was incomplete, the main plot still open ended. Characterization nagged at me. At first I was okay with the characters, liked the big strong woman who could fend for herself and the attractive guy who seemed a bit like a ladies man that appeared to be attracted to her. However, it was quickly evident that strong female actually meant easy to anger and easy to deceive. She fell far too fast for a guy she didn't even know, went from angry she was going with them to perfectly okay with it in the span of a few hours, then one little rushed push made her flip completely to I hate this guy and will not tell him anything about this odd tree notch that might be what they're looking for (no regard to the other 3 people in the party, just let the dude she was attracted to make her decisions). On top of that, she 180s again after being like yeah screw these dudes, goes back to get them (okay I do agree with that in context but wow it seemed more like she only went back for attractive dude not the others who did nothing to her), then has a breakdown in the cave that's only vaguely alluded to in a manner not even displaying that being her trigger earlier in the story. Somehow this all results in sex after attractive dude has to rescue "big strong woman". To be honest, I'm being generous when I give it 2 stars. I would have stopped reading on page 3 if not for the fact that I'd agreed to leave a review. Totally not my kind of story as I feel I'd read far better unpublished works for both content and characters and feel like the author had no respect in what they were publishing if they put up a story without even editing it. Please please get an editor. If you don't have the money to hire one, there are tons out there that will work for free for small authors. Just ask around on social media, I promise you'll find one. I wish I could leave a better review, but honestly cannot at this time.
This was a very quick read once I sat down & decided to read it. The Prologue didn’t capture my attention, but once I got into the story, it was a decent read. It definitely showed how there’s a fine line between love & “hate.” Thyra & Sven just had to realize that all their arguing was b/c they were so attracted to each other. The spicy scene was very short & went straight into the Epilogue, which left a lot to be desired. There’s no conclusion to the story & when I read the “blurb” at the end, it says the next book is about Revna. I prefer stories that have a definitive conclusion with a HEA. I didn’t hate the story. It’s just not my cup of tea. All in all, the Prologue & Epilogue weren’t fantastic, but the “meat” of the story was an enjoyable, quick read. If you need a standalone with a HEA, this is not a story for you. But I’d you like a quick read with decent dialogue & a bit of spice, then you will enjoy it. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The Viking ship was floating towards the Scottish coast. He was commissioned by the King of Denmark to find a stolen treasure.
On board, the twins Revna and Sven Antunson were still arguing for the umpteenth time...

A nice story, pleasant to read, which transports you to the past of the Vikings. We almost believe it!
I really like the sensitive and precise writing of this author, as well as the plot of the book and especially the successful characters, as well as the interactions between them!
Here is the meeting of Sven and Thyra. I will be reading other novels in this series. I recommend !
This was a strong start to the King’s Raiders series, it had that historical element that I was hoping for and enjoyed the overall feel of the world. The characters felt like they belonged in this universe and had me wanting to read more in this series. Peyton Lawson wrote this in a strong way and was glad I was able to read this.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This was a wonderful first book in the series as Thyra is a woman warrior. She tasked with thanking a group icon a journey and isn’t willing at first but she’s ordered too! This is their journey and what the trial are as she takes them and how they interact! A must read! I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
