After book 7 was such a disappointment to me, I told myself that I was gonna be done with this series. Well book 8 popped up, and I read it.

He finally broke out of his formula of, Main character does his thing and investigates some murder and it always comes around to tie into something that will interest his girl friend sorcerer and her job with the FBI.
Now its entirely possible that the only reason for this is she was on the verge of death until the final 2 chapters of the book, but one can hope right?

Once again, a tremulously fun and informative outing with runemaster Alex Lockerby and his colorful cabal of helpers. And once again, the only issue I have with the tale is the length of time between stories.

They just keep getting better and better.

And with the heavy foreshadowing in this book, it looks like the next few are going to be even more exciting, and the stakes much, much higher for everyone involved.

Don’t miss them!

Fantastic read, I love this series. Always seems to have three mysteries going at once, all of them interesting and usually with real twists at the end that are hard to see coming. Love the time period and the noir-like flavor of the people and settings. Only problem I have is waiting for the next one to come out, but so far has been worth the wait every time.

The book started out a bit slow, it felt like every bit of backstory had to be explained in detail. But by the end of the book I was really excited to have the overarching plot explained a bit more. Eagerly anticipating the next book to find out more Moriarty and the Legion. Minor note, there were about a dozen typos in the Kindle edition, gave the book a bit of a rushed feeling.
