Okay, the book isn’t too bad. It’s actually entertaining and easy to get enthralled into, but there are so many dumb moments that I couldn’t help but drop it to a three. I’m not sure if the “dumb” or “dense” moments are due to Ashley being southern, female, or both, but either way it is very insulting. What moments am I speaking of? One example is when Ashley and shot Wyatt are in a deceased suspect’s house waiting on an ambulance and Ashley’s helpful thoughts are to raid the house in search of prescription antibiotics for Wyatt before the ambulance gets there (because that’s going to make all the difference- someone’s unfinished amoxicillin in the bathroom cabinet from two years ago). Don’t she have better things to think about. The ambulance is on its way! One amoxicillin capsule wouldn’t save his life at that point. It’s ridiculous!
## This one was just OK for me. The car chase and foot chases were far too long for me. I get it was supposed to be suspenseful (and it was at first) but after 25 pages of driving and running it just became frustrating instead. And I still didn't like Ashley's partner Wyatt. He was so secretive and vague it became annoying. He put Ashley in a bad position during the investigation, yet SHE ended up apologizing to HIM. He should've explained why he took off & apologized to HER. And at the end we're left hanging with a lot of unanswered questions. It was obvious that was intentional so we buy the next book, but I'm not a fan of this tactic.
Ashley and Daniel are not working together well as they do not see eye to eye and they have to endure the worst situations in Let me Breathe. The story has a very good plot, is well written and allows the main characters to be seen as regular people who have to deal with big and small situations in life. Ashley will have to clear the air with Daniel to be able to move the relationship forward. The ending of the story made me wonder what will happen next...
