The God Throne, the Dead Zones, and the prophecy of King Spawn. While trying to save the world from the forces that seek to destroy it, has Spawn actually set the end-times in motion himself?
All the other “Spawns Universe” titles have their own identity, but King Spawn just doesn't really click for me. It's not a bad comic, but it's the same Spawn story we've got for the last 300 issues on the main Spawn title. Wanda this, Wanda that. You could have easily said this was an issue from 1997 or 2006 and you'd believe it, as it's literally just the same Wanda nonsense that they always revert back to.
I like the black and white in this title. As someone that reads a lot of manga, that does not bother me. The story was a slow burn with some really neat art at times. Some of the panels lack much detail though. I enjoy that this relied on story telling over action as it is nice to have that change of pace at times. I have now read an issue from each of the Spawn books and I like that they each have their own vibe.
