Defending Hope

Rate this book
I am alone…

I can’t feel my mates through our mate bond— even my wolf is lost, tucked away somewhere deep inside me.

The new world my seven mates and I created on Kursar is now shattered, maybe gone forever. I don’t know if they are even dead or alive...I’m not even sure if I’m truly alive.

I am sedated.

Captured and again imprisoned by Vadik and Faulk. The only time I woke, I discovered something shocking. I’m pregnant. As I struggle to survive this ordeal, I’m now not only responsible for myself but my innocent baby. Vadik keeps me locked away but there is nothing more ferocious than a mother protecting her young. I vow to myself and my loved ones I will avenge the wrongs that have been done to us.

This story picks up about 5 months after the end of last book. Viv has been kidnapped and her guys are falling apart. I can’t say much about the story without giving away spoilers, but the emotional ups and down for Viv and the guys are intense. I would definitely check the trigger warning. My heart broke for them. I thought the emotions and reactions were authentic. I liked seeing Viv find her way, and I can’t wait to see what happens next :)

What happened to the paragraphs? Seriously this book is just annoying. The whole series is annoying. SHe stretched out this book that could have been one book and made it a full series. It's so boring.

Defending Hope is the third book in the Hope series and it was epic. A lot happened and there were a lot of emotions running rampant, and coming to terms with what happened, all while telling a compelling story of love, loss, and so much more, with bits of laughter in between, I loved it.

In the previous book, Claiming Hope, Viv was just starting to get to know all of her mates and was starting to come to terms with being an Alpha female and all that it means to be a werewolf. The bonds that she grew with the guys are strong, Defending Hope is the repercussions of them losing the battle in Claiming Hope. Viv is separated from the guys in the hands of her enemy, pregnant and alone, and it changes Viv in unforeseen ways. Viv was always strong, a fighter with a heart of gold but she still had a lightness about her, after being at the mercy of Dr. Faulk Viv has grown even stronger and she still manages to care about people but Viv is darker now, something has been unleashed in her and at the end, she is someone new. I loved how no matter what Viv didn't give up, she fought, she might have been and still is in a dark place she isn't letting it take over, she is still willing to fight for innocent people and I have to admire her for that.

Viv isn't the only one who's changed, the guys are all a wreck without Viv. Not knowing if she's okay and not being able to find her is taking its toll on them but the guys have grown a lot closer, they trust each other in a way I don't think they did before. They are working together to keep Viv's pack together, to keep the collective at bay, and are trying to figure out who the islanders' loyalties are tied to because it seems Vadik may still have an influence on the island. I loved how much the guys care about Viv and seeing a different side to them was really interesting. Orion has my heart it's something about him this book drew me in and I loved getting to know him and Tristan more. Bentley on the other hand was mostly an annoying little punk who I wanted to hit in the face but he's working on it. As for my original four, Tav, Koit, Darius, and Rik have all did a one-eighty in personality. Koit is serious, Tav is dangerous, Darius is a little lost, and Rik is anything but calm. However, they do pull themselves together in the end. The guys worked together, got things done, and bonded even tighter than before, I mean sure there were fights but they are truly a family now with one goal, get Viv.

The storyline in this book was crazy, Viv is locked up with the crazy doctor in a very vulnerable situation. Dr. Faulk is up to his old tricks with his medical research, experimenting when he has no business in a secure medical facility run by Vadik. The people around him, the supposed nurses, all know what's happening but are unwilling to do anything about it. One even went as far as blaming Viv for something which rightfully Viv got her back in the end. Something also happened in the medical facility and I don't think Viv thought about what they did afterward, I have a feeling it's might come into play or it could be too dark for Elizabeth to go there. A lot of Vidik's plan was revealed in this one and his master plan is a lot more devious and a helluva lot bigger than what I was thinking. The dude is out of his mind but the worse part is that he might have the power to back it up because more about Vidik's background has been revealed and some even more disturbing info about his pack that I didn't see coming. Everyone got a chapter in this book, I loved hearing from the guys but my favorite point-of-view was from Viv's wolf because she is one snarky chick and I can't help but laugh which made for lighter moments and Viv's wolf just didn't get a few bits the wolf got two whole chapters to herself and I absolutely loved it.

There was an undercurrent of sexism in this book that wasn't that prevalent in the previous books, this is due to Vadik's presents and his demented way of thinking is spreading. Having women being mostly breeders and having men rule over them is the caveman crazy coming out. I keep forgetting that Vadik has been plotting this for a long time, I mean he is the very reason Viv was born and I hate that someone so evil is the reason my girl exists. So now I'm starting the think Vadik is even more dangerous than I believe him to be which is a bit shocking because I wasn't taking him lightly before. Vadik reach is far and wide and not everyone is pleased, things get all tangled and everything starts coming together into a bigger plot, with the collective adding to the guys' problems.

Defending Hope was politically charged, heartbreaking, steamy, and shocking. Filled with shocking revelations, loving mates, and new allies. Defending Hope kept me riveted, with all the drama, the emotions, with surprises I didn't see coming. I love that I don't know where the story is going but I am interested in how it will conclude in the final book, Obtaining Hope.

Hath no fury like a cheesed off wolf

Viv wakes up to a hospital room and an extremely pregnant body before being drugged again. The next wake up is to the news that they will be delivering her twins in a week via cesarian. What a way to find out you're pregnant!
The guys have been trying to hold Kursar together but the structure is built for an alpha female. Viv's absence has left a hole in their hearts, and the leadership. Add in Video's goons subverting the villagers and the Collective trying to annex the island in, and things are getting dicy. It's hard chasing ghosts while holding off 2 armies. But they get news that could help them. The only problem is that it means abandoning the first place Viv called home. If they do get her back, where do they go?

Spoilers ahead.
Ok. First off, that blurb is scary. Finding out she's taken by a man who has already tried to kill her, wanted to breed her, and is willing to try all that again now that he's managed to kidnap her leaves a person wary about where this may go. Especially when assaults are mentioned. But, as bad as things are, they never reached that level of dark. She's drugged and strapped down to prevent her shifting, as pregnant humans aren't graceful and 4 legs make for a better getaway. But shifting would cause a miscarriage and they want those babies. The warning for chapter 14 is there, if loss of an infant is something you should avoid, heed it. Of her twins, only 1 survives, the other is taken away. Her escape leads to an enemy's demise, new friends, new leads, and a new war. The Russian has a plan that's been in play for decades. He's not going to abandon it easily. The Collective is so busy trying to round up every pack they can that they've lost sight of the enemy closing in. Oh, and they really cheesed off the Dama. This isn't an easy book to read, but it is a strong one. It doesn't have a HEA yet. There are HFN moments but there's still someone who needs to come home and to do that is going to require a lot more wolves.
*Why would the village listen to outsiders? They're so insular, they'd know who was family and friends, and who was a recent move in. The Collective part I believe, but listening to Vedik's whispers?
*If wolves know they're dying out, why would they risk a single female? Experimentation, trauma, bonds broken, drugs, all these are not going to make women who will already have a hard time carrying do so easily. And all too often they die in childbirth, losing both the mate and the pup. Desperation only counts for some of the logic. Meathead males wanting to keep the status quo only a handful more. The rest defies all logic.
*Wolf healing would get her through some of it but she was post C-section, her wolf bond was broken, her mate bonds were broken, muscles atrophied from 7mos of immobility, her body was drying up the milk production it had just started, running for long distances isn't going to be an option.

The glimpses of humor, the dialogue between her and Maria especially, kept the time from being oppressively dark. There are dark subjects, but the whole novel isn't so much so that you lose all enjoyment from reading it. And we get actual POV from Viv's wolf, not just her commentary through Viv.

Wowza, this book was intense. Viv was put through the ringer in this third book of the series. Please read the trigger warning before reading so some of the more sensitive topics don't catch you unaware.

Viv went through so much physically and emotionally in this book. It's incredible to see her continue to be beaten and bruised but still somehow manage to stay strong, even if she took a few moments to come to terms with the trauma. She may have hidden away for a bit, but there is nothing that will stop a mother when it comes to her child. It's different when you are just fighting for yourself but when those you care for come into play, the rules of the game change. Viv and her wolf are quite the team when they work together.

The multiple points of view were amazing. Not only did we get POVs from the guys, but also from Viv's wolf. She's a vivacious character and it was nice to see whole chapters from her as she tried to ease Viv back into the real world and support her in her grief.

The guys had really interesting chapters as well. I loved seeing how each was handling being separated from Vic and their thought processes on how to handle the situation they were currently in. Viv picked them well and despite being without her they worked pretty well as a team when they had the common goal of finding Viv again. You'll be interested to see a few characters show completely different sides of themselves after dealing with the temporary loss of their mate, but I don't think any of it is necessarily a bad thing. Some become more serious because they have a reason to, some darker because of the need to follow clues, and some are the same happy-go-lucky characters that you've come to love. No matter the changes, there is one thing that hasn't changed and that's their love and devotion to Viv. Together again, this group is going to pack a punch in the next book. I'm excited to see Viv be the queen she was meant to be.

This book was absolutely amazing and an emotional rollercoaster for sure! This book is definitely darker in tone and touches on some very real aspects of loss, trauma, and pain. This book brings out a very different side to Viv and her Wolf, but the incomparable bond between them is stronger than ever. As Viv, and her Wolf, deal with grief they must fight to to protect those they love and not lose hope. Their strength and resilience is astounding!

I really like the dynamic Elizabeth Knight painted with Viv’s mates. They all had to band together and trust one another completely to find and get Viv back. As a reader we got to see such different sides of each of Viv mates as they dealt with the temporary loss of their mate, because let’s be honest, they were getting her back, there as not doubt about that.

We also got to see a completely new side of the werewolf world. I won’t spoil anything, but I will say there will be some big twists and turns you never see coming! This book added a new complexity and layer to the story and it packed a punch! I loved the dips and turns Elizabeth Knight gave us as we were reading! I genuinely cannot wait to see what Book 4 has in store for us!

Dare I say it, this book is near perfection.

Set 5 months after the previous book it’s a race against time to find Viv and tensions are running high. This instalment is filled to the brim with drama, mystery and a whole heap of heartbreak. This book does come with a serious trigger warning which readers should take note of and if applicable, carefully consider before proceeding. We are given the option to skip over a particularly brutal chapter however I can’t skip chapters EVER so that was never an option for me and I pushed ahead knowing to stop if it gets too much and I’m glad I did. Was it difficult to read? Absolutely, but it was also heartbreakingly beautiful. The whole book is wonderfully written but chapter 14 includes some phenomenal writing, sensitive to what’s happening but still full of raw emotion.

I was so absorbed in Defending Hope that I panicked when I hit 90% and realised the book was almost over, I had that horrible OMG I need to finish but I also don’t want this book to end moment.
Fantastic read and I can’t wait for book 4.

This book had me feeling a rollercoaster of feelings! It was such a heartbreaking but amazing addition to this series. In Defending Hope we pick up right where the last book left off. Viv has been captured by Vadik and her men are scrambling to try to find her, but with their mate bond not working it is making it hard to find her. Luckily they do not let that stop them. Meanwhile Viv woke up in a new place with a huge surprise or should I say surprises. The trauma that Viv goes through in this book can be triggering to some, but this is made clear before you start the book. I will admit I sobbed during this book, but watching Viv bounce back and show her strength was incredible. She is such a strong fmc! And I think I have a new favorite character which is Maria! She is a hoot! I cannot wait to see what happens next!

Ok….so this book was a hell of a ride.
Let’s get the obvious out the way - it has situations that might be quite upsetting for some people, but there is a clear warning before you start and there’s information to skip that specific chapter altogether!

The book itself continues a few months after the ending of the last and jumps into action immediately! I don’t like to go too much into detail about the plot etc so I’ll just summarise by saying….
Defending hope is beautifully written, has a great plot and keeps you so absorbed you’re not quite ready for the end (that comes sooner than you’d think, damn cliffhangers.lol)
If you’ve read the first 2 books then you’ll love where this wild ride is going!
Another great book from Elizabeth Knight!!

I mean what can I even say or where do I start?

I'm not gonna lie.... this book absolutely made me cry lol. I don't know how the author does it but she's simply amazing at bringing out all my emotions. There's literally nothing negative I can say about this book or even series for that matter. It was wonderful to see a different side of Viv and her guys throughout this whole book and made their relationship that much more intricate. It was exactly what I was wanting because I crave seeing the relationships unfold and evolve as Viv and her men change or simply get to know each other better.

It's everything I could have wanted and more but please be warned and read the trigger warning before hand as it deals with a very sensitive subject to some.

Why you so obsessed with this series??? Ummm cause it’s freaking fantastic.
Storyline is top tier and the spice is off the chain for most of the series.

The characters are easy to like minus a select few.

Please read my warning and the authors on the triggers. Chapter 14 is ROUGH. Necessary but rough.

Also Maria is my spirit animal 🐺 she is fucking hysterical lol 😝

@elizabethknight I cant wait to see what you do in the next book

All the feels in this book. A great installment in the series. So much action and drama. Couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. Deeper character development in the heroine and her harem. New complexities added to the world building.

You really get sucked in emotionally in this book. The author’s note and trigger warnings are no joke and should be seriously considered but I liked that the author told you what chapter you could skip to avoid the hardcore descriptions. If you need this it’s awesome to have an author look out for your well being without sacrificing the whole book. Definitely recommend.

Wow, Fantastico

Amazing job Elizabeth. The only issue is having to wait till February or March of next year for the next book. I do not know what it is about this series but I cannot seem to get enough. It may be the characters like Viv and her 7 mates , the storyline of an Alpha female with amazing powers, fighting evil or just how you weave it all into such an engaging story. Viv is amazing, she reminds me of my Alpha wife, strong of character, doesn't back down but loves her family more than life itself. To keep me sated until Book 4, I have bought 3 of your other books: Book 1 from 3 different series. Keep up the great writing. Many thanks again.

Book 3 picks up a few months after the cliffhanger of book 2. Viv isn’t in a great position and she’s dealing with everything alone. We get her POV and her mates’ which is great seeing how they handle what’s going on and what lengths they’ll go to to get Viv back. As the series has continued, we learn more about Vadik and what his goals are. Things are much clearer now as more comes to light. Viv and her mates are in for a fight. They can’t seem to catch a break unfortunately! Looking forward to the conclusion of the series!

I absolutely devoured the first two books in this series. I seriously couldn’t get enough. I was desperately awaiting this book. Only to find that this book was depressing AF. The authors note at the beginning warns you about the strong themes of the book, so at least I knew beforehand. But still…. After waiting with such expectation, I was disappointed. Not because the writing wasn’t good. But because I kept putting this book down and not wanting to continue it, but forcing myself to get to the end.

This third book in the series was the most emotional yet! I absolutely loved it, the rawness of the writing was amazing to read. As soon as I started, I knew I was not going to want to put it down. With the cliffhanger of book two, I had high expectations for this third book and Elizabeth knight blew me away! Viv is such a phenomenal FMC and her men are perfect! That ending had me excited for what's to come but also sad that I'll have to wait for the final book! Five stars for such a beautiful book!

Recently reread book 1 and 2 to get ready for book 3 and buy was it amazing! It may contain triggers for some but what a rollercoaster this was. Yes Viv lives through a great ordeal and she co,especially out so strong. Her captivity changes her and adds another layer to her. The guys are fighting their own demons, not knowing how Viv is, with her being pregnant and still needing to take care of the pack. So amazing that they grow a lot too. I applaud you Elizabeth, can't wait for the next book!

First I would like to say this book has so much growth for Viv. She goes through alot on her own and finds this strength inside that overpowers any fear. Its moments like this you are just so proud of a character you want to cheer them on, you want to go inside the book and help, you want her to succeed in anything she is doing. Its moments like this that solidify your hatred of the villain. Her mates had a tough time but I think learned to work together better because of it. I can't wait until the next book.

I originally picked up this series because I follow the author on tik tok and saw a video about a reverse harem with seven mates. That drew my attention. After reading the first three books in very impatiently waiting for the fourth to come out at the end of the month. I didn't expect to be pulled into these very lives and care so much for them. I didn't expect to cry with them. I was just adding another tally to my pile of smut. I love Viv. I love her relationship with her mates and her 'inner self'. I can't wait to see more and find Hope.

Holy smokes Defending Hope was one hell of a ride! We pick up after book 2 in the aftermath of Viv being taken. Her men are all suffering without her and they have no idea where Viv is or what’s happened to her. I can’t get into what Viv has or does endure in this book without spoiling but wow it’s a lot. There is a lot of heavy emotions abs heartbreak but I think everyone will come out stronger on the other side. I cannot wait for book 4! Amazing book!

I will start this by saying you need to read the trigger warning and decide if this is the right book for you. This book is a very sad and depressing journey for Viv and her guys, but this is a very important step in their journey towards their happily ever after. While this book is certainly not happy, neither is life and sometimes you need to go through a long patch of hard times to get to the good parts.

This book was an emotional rollercoaster in the best way. It is on the darker side and features more violence, trauma, and the emotions that accompany trauma. Please read the trigger warning before jumping in.

Liv, her wolf, and her mates go through the ringer in this book. You get to see the guys struggle with being separated from Liv and having to work together to get her back. Trav and Orion/Okami really bring out their dark sides in this book and it's fantastic to read. Elsewhere, Liv and her wolf are fighting to protect their family and get back to the guys. Due to reasons I’m not going to spoil, readers get POVs from Livs wolf and I really enjoyed these additions to the book.

This book also explains a lot more about the werewolf world and introduces new characters. I’m excited to see where Elizabeth is going with the series as a whole!

5 months after being taken from her mates, Viv finds herself in a medical facility waking up from a coma like state and to her surprise, she is heavily pregnant with twins. While in this predicament, Viv fights for her life and those of her babies, while her mates do everything in their power to try and find her. There were new revelations, betrayals, loss and lao much love in this book! I think it’s Elizabeth’s best book yet! Absolutely love this series!

This book comes with a trigger warning for chapter 14 as someone who has gone through that I appreciate having the warning so I could skip it, that being said this is such an emotional book compared to the other two, I found my self in tears a few times because as mentioned I connected with this character more than I have really any in a while, Elizabeth has a way to hook you from that first line and you just can’t help but but drawn into her world, bravo truly

This is the 3rd book in the Hope series. It picks up right where book 2 left off. Viv has once again been kidnapped by Vadik and Faulk. Separated from her mates, Viv is forced to endure so much trauma on her own. Seeing how her mates are suffering not knowing where she is or what is happening is heart-wrenching. This series has been a action-packed roller coaster ride of emotions. I cannot wait to see what happens next.

Defending Hope is book 3 in the Hope series and Elizabeth Knight takes us through the ringer with this one. This story is a crazy ride of emotions.

Viv is missing and all the guys are scrambling to try and find her. While Viv is trying to find a way to get back to her men. Will Viv and her men be able to find each other before it’s too late?

This story is a crazy ride of emotions. I need the next book like now. Next year can’t come soon enough.
