I just blazed through High Heels and Heifers by Susan Stradiotto and Leah Omar, and I loved every minute of this short and sweet romance. It's a really deep story considering the page count, and there were several things that came as a total surprise. I'd like to commend both authors on a fantastic read.
As the daughter of a horse-mad veterinarian, who grew up around horses, I really appreciate all the little details the authors went into concerning equine maintenance, care and best practice. It's the little things that make a book great, and they definitely nailed it with the horsey details.
Based on some hints and the general theme of the novel, I thought I had Jack's parents pegged, but oh, how wrong I was! They turned out to be nothing like I imagined and it was an INCREDIBLE twist to the story. I thoroughly enjoyed the fact Jack turned to her parents for advice. It was a nice touch and really added another layer to this fantastic story.
I laughed (quite a lot actually), I teared up, and there were a few moments where I wanted to smack both Jack and Luca upside the head. On the whole, that's already a five star consideration for me, but there's so much more to this novel and the writing, that makes it even better. It's definitely sky-rocketed to one of my favourite clean romances, and put both authors on my auto-buy list.
I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I have to start my review by saying that I own all six of the previous Romano family books by Lucinda Whitney—both in ebook form and audiobook. Each of the previous books in the series was an absolute delight, which prompted me to respond to the author's newsletter when she was looking for ARC reviewers for the newest installment. I was not disappointed.
The Romano family is full of quirky relatives—including meddling mothers, aunts and grandmothers on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. Several of the books take place in Portugal but they all revolve around the Romano family. There's intrigue, danger, laughter, and some tears in this series. Don't hesitate to have your tissues ready for more than one book.
Bearing all of that in mind, I was more than eager to jump into the current offering...Love Me Tender, Love Me True...which takes place in New York state. There Juliana Romano is puppy sitting for several weeks as a way to recover from the death of her best friend back in Portugal. Unfortunately, she has a rather embarrassing first meeting with Matt Garrison thanks in large part to Matt coming home from a business trip, deciding to skinny-dip in his pool, Ollie grabbing his boxers and running off with them, and Matt not knowing that his cousin Dylan has installed Juliana in his house. There are misunderstandings galore in this book. Some are brought about due to Matt's rather irresponsible cousin who left Juliana with the impression that he owns Matt's house. Some are because our two main characters each carry their own baggage and, as is the case in many romance books, they don't talk to each other. They make numerous assumptions—many based on their own past experiences and insecurities. Throw in the adorable puppy named Ollie and things get even more interesting. Happily, it all turns out right in the end.
All in all, this has been a most enjoyable read. The author never disappoints and her characters are fleshed out and all have a few flaws. Once you've finished Love Me Tender, Love me True you should go back and start the Romano family series from the beginning. I'm sure you'll fall in love with all of them. Kudos to the author for another home run.
To date, I have only read three books. I love all three. They are clean, fun, well written and delightful
Love Me Tender, Love Me True by Lucinda Whitney has a very funny, embarrassing meet cute between Juliana Romano and Matt Garrison. I love how she upended his life with the puppy and more. They are a very special couple and I love how this story played out.
Sparks Fly by Laura D. Bastian is a best friend's older brother rom com. Mia juggles evening classes and acts as Adam's secretary in his start up electrical company. Of course she does an outstanding job for Adam. These two characters make a great couple and I thoroughly enjoyed their convoluted path to an HEA.
Royal Rumble by Holly Kerr is the story of the arranged marriage of Prince Odin and Lady Camille. I love how Camille blooms away from her father's influence. This book is the story of the twisted road the two follow from their first meeting ten years prior until just before this wedding. For a while it looks like there will not be an HEA for the pair. But Mr. Kerr manages to make love triumph. Camille has a sweet dog named Betty White that accompanies her almost everywhere.
I am sure the rest of the stories will match these three in quality and I am looking forward to reading them.
Royal Rumble by Holly Kerr. The arranged marriage of Prince Odin of Laandia and Lady Camille of Saint Pierre is to be announced the same night as the segment of Suitorette is aired where Prince Odin is sent home. Camille doesn’t know this and finds out minutes before their engagement party takes place. She is so angry she goes to her room. There is so much to this story as she also has her agenda. She has to marry to become Perfect and needs to do it soon as her father’s health seems to be failing. Assuming he knows this, she doesn’t say anything. This all started when Lady Camille and Prince Odin met and spent a wondrous night together under a bridge when they were teenagers. She wrote to him for six months and when she sent him an invitation and he didn’t respond, she knew it was over. She continued writing but didn’t send anymore. She has snowball battles, two adorable dogs named after ladies from the golden girls, and the ability to sword fight that impress Prince Odin.

Falling for Your Best Friend is Camilla Isley’s latest romantic comedy that is part of a special Valentine’s Day boxset, My Funny Valentine. It’s a smash-up of friends-to-lovers, fake-dating, and love triangle tropes.
33-year-old Dr. Lori Archibald has been in love with her best friend and partner in her medical practice since they were freshmen in college. Now Aiden is getting married to his girlfriend of three years and Lori is panicking. She confides in Jace, her other best friend and medical partner, and he agrees to be her fake-boyfriend for Aiden’s wedding.
Lori has always felt like an unattractive nerd, and she has struggled with female friendships. She is less concerned with her appearance and more concerned with saving stray animals and rescuing unwanted books. She is a vegetarian who has four cats and six chickens at her Chicago loft apartment.
Aiden is a blond all-American dreamboat who is marrying Kirsten, a society lady. He knows that Lori and Jace aren’t crazy about Kirsten but he’s hoping that they will grow to like her. In college Aiden and Jace made a pact to never have a romantic relationship with Lori, to preserve their friendships.
Jace is a tall, dark, and brooding ladies’ man who has secretly been in love with Lori for as long as she has been crushing on Aiden. Jace is Lori’s opposite in many ways, as he is a neat-freak type-A personality. Once Jace reveals his true feelings to Lori, she must decide which man is for her.
I really enjoyed Falling for Your Best Friend because the characters are realistic and very likeable. Lori thinks of herself as a “hot mess”, but she really isn’t. It takes Jace’s declaration of love for her to realize her value outside of her medical practice. The dynamic between the three friends is unusual in that there is no “bad guy” in this story. There are so many funny scenes, but no profanity or graphic sex.
I received an Advance Review Copy (ARC) from the author for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Royal Rumble by Holly Kerr A second chance for the love at first sight Camille and Odin experienced ten years ago? Maybe. The start of an international incident? More than likely. That was so cute and so fun, even if the two of them drove me a little batty that they couldn’t own up to their feelings. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this couple get to know who each other is now as opposed to the teenagers who were infatuated so long ago. Their antics and banter kept me highly entertained. I loved where Camille and Odin are when this story ends, but there’s so much more I still want to know. It’s probably a good thing that it sounds like this is the launch of a new series for the author. I’m already anxiously waiting to find out what’s going to happen next. I received a complimentary advance copy of this book through Booksprout.
So far I've only read Love Me Tender, Love Me True by Lucinda Whitney. Matt and Julianna had a very interesting and slightly embarrassing first meeting. It made things a bit awkward for them at first but luckily, they got over it pretty quickly. Matt is a bit of a grump, caught up in his work and finances. Julianna is a breath of fresh air, reminding him how to enjoy his surroundings and how to take time to relax. I liked both Matt and Julianna and little Ollie too. Puppies make everything better.
This story is sweet, with a slow burn romance. It moves at a placid pace and definitely ends with a happily ever after that was worth getting to. The beginning and the end were my favorite bits. 3.5 stars, rounding up.
Content: sweet kissing
- I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.
For this anthology, I am reviewing Royal Rumble by Holly Kerr.
This is a cute second chance romance that involves a royal couple. I really enjoyed the brothers in this story and hope they get their own stories at some point.
Ten years ago, Odin and Camille met and fell in love during a visit. Then Odin went to school in America. They corresponded for a while, but ultimately lost touch.
Fast forward and they are now getting engaged in an arranged marriage. Camille is not pleased at all when she realizes their marriage is conveniently timed to occur after Odin appears on a reality dating show - and names her as one of his past moments - and then makes a fool of himself.
Odin tries to make amends with Camille and they begin to spend time together. Will Camille get a happy ending?.

A collection of rom coms to entertain and delight for days! This is always a great way to get introduced to new authors and keep up with old favorites. I picked up this book as it has one of Camilla Isley's novellas in it, Falling for Her Best Friend, which was every bit as good as I expected! Always well written, fun and entertaining with a happily ever after to make a sweet story the one you want to read. However, I have found several new to me authors that I want to explore further that I wouldn't have found without picking up this collection. Some are more sweet, others more suspenseful, but all have a happily ever after to make your romance reading heart happy!
Love Me Tender, Love Me True is such a fun story, it has been a while since Lucinda has had a new book out and this one is fantastic. I loved the sweet romance that developed between Juliana and Matt. Their meeting was crazy and funny and such a surprise. They did so many fun things together and of course had some misunderstandings that caused hurt for them both, but luckily for us readers they were able to find a HEA. There is a cute dog that is such a rascal but also so sweet. I really enjoyed this story.
Daring Mr Darcy - More than once, a smile crept onto my face as I immersed myself in this delightful book! From enjoying the differing personalities between sisters Elissa, Jane and Lydia to the fierce protectiveness of Georgia, Liam’s sister, this is one story to be loved and read again and again! Is there the possibility of a match between Elissa and Liam, despite their rocky beginning and his wealth vs her humble upbringing, or would these become obstacles too big to overcome? A story to entertain and tug at the emotions of every reader!
I’m super disappointed about this set of books. It only has 8 stories in it. When I ordered the collection it was supposed to have a whole lot more stories. I guess problems and disagreements caused like half of authors to pull out. Which is fine and is their right. But since I pre-ordered this back in September by the time the other authors had pulled out it was past the date to cancel the pre-order or even return the book once it was delivered. I would have just read this on KU instead of purchasing it.
So far, I've read "Love Me Tender, Love Me True". I've read other books that revolve around the Romono family so it was a delight to see one more, Juliana, in this book. The characters are well written. The story has some laugh out loud moments as well as more serious parts. Very enjoyable.
I've also read "Sparks Fly". What a fun story. Adam and Mia make a great team -- in the office and as a couple. Great side character of Adam's sister, Samatha. Looking forward to reading other stories in the book.
Love Me Tender, Love Me True by Lucinda Whitney: Sweet, clean, feel good read. Great meet-cute. Cute Puppy. Mr. Grumpy meets Sunshine. Meddlesome townspeople. All these combine to make this a cute, lower angst story. Well, the characters felt some angst but I didn't feel it since I fully expected the happily ever after ending. The story would make a great romance movie. Just the perfect escape I needed.
No sex, language or violence *I received a complimentary ARC of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
Daring Mr. Darcy By Carolyn Miller is a great read. This is a fun modern day twist on the classic pride prejudice. I enjoyed the independence of Elyssa and how William Darcy was a misunderstood philanthropist. The fact that Alyssa and her family were from Australia allowed for many interesting misunderstandings that fit in well with the structure of the story.
I haven't read all of the stories in this collection. The review is for Royal Rumble by Holly Kerr. This story was a cute quick read with a second chance romance and an arranged marriage. It had a fairy tale feel with the royal family and Valentine's day theme. Odin, second prince of four, the people's favorite prince. Camille, a lady to inherit a small province, after 10 years and 6 failed engagements she's snarky and a bit bitter. The ups, downs, and hilarity made this a very enjoyable read. I do hope we get the rest of the royal siblings stories 🤩.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is for High Heels and Heifers by Susan Stradiotto and Leah Omar. I loved the story and will definitely be reading more of them!
4.5 stars rounded up.
If this was a romcom movie, it would be on my "watch on repeat" list. It's full of hilarious situations, cute romance, and just the right amount of tropey goodness. The perfect feel-good happily-ever-after kind of story.
I am reviewing one of the books in this set: Love Me Tender, Love Me True by Lucinda Whitney. It is a sweet, clean romance. Juliana comes to the states to visit and take some time off. She offers to pet sit. She stays in what she believes is the owner’s house. But when she runs into Matt, who is the actual owner, things get crazy. He does allow her to stay. With the help of the town, they encourage the two to help each other out, hoping they can build more than a friendship.
This is the start of series, but definitely can be read as a stand alone. There are some fun, quirky characters that make the story interesting and fun. I enjoyed the story.
I received a free copy of Love Me Tender, Love Me True by Lucinda Whitney. When I complete the rest of this collection, I’ll update my review.
She takes a job dog sitting at her friends home Well - she thinks it is her home. Only to find out (after calling the police!) that is not - and that the owner has arrived and is now swimming (naked) in the pool!!! And thus starts an amazing story that just keeps getting better and better!!! I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All thoughts and comments are my own.
I absolutely loved Matt and Juliana's story by Lucinda Whitney. I really enjoyed them checking items off her list. And I really loved little Ollie. A sweet, clean romance.
I absolutely enjoyed reading about Camille and Odin and his amazing family. I'm a sucker for happy endings and I need to know when the next book comes out!!!
Thanks for an advance ebook of your part in this fantastic collection of Valentine love stories.
Review for the story High heels and Heifers The perfect company retreat turns into the perfect rom-com read. What a great hallmark-like movie this one would make. It’s fun, keeps your turning pages, and makes you laugh a little. The characters are relatable and best yet… it’s clean with cowboys and horses!
From this anthology I have read Royal Rumble by Holly Kerr. This story is a great sweet romance. It is cute and fun. I like the characters. I enjoyed reading this story.
I have only read Mom Squad by Kaci Lane - Aniston has had a major life change. Easton has been burned by love and isn't looking. I loved the friends in the mom squad. These two keep getting thrown together and sparks are a flying. The children bring so much to the story. Enjoyed seeing Aniston and Easton work their way to each other and handle the angst. One of the sweetest endings. Hoping the other moms in the squad get their own stories.
Really enjoyed this RomCom anthology, the full length stories are clean with lots of humour.
Book 1: High Heels and Heifers by Susan Stradiotto & Leah Omar was a very amusing book with surprising depth about a try hard corporate career woman, Jacqueline (aka Jack) and a cowboy guide, Luca. Jack arranges for a team building event at a cattle mustering ranch and this story is about their adventures. Luca is very patient while dealing with Jack, but he has a few good laughs at her expense. I had quite a few chuckles at their antics. I rate this book 4*.
Book 2: Amnesia on Nantucket by Taryn Daniels, had some funny moments and some irritating parts too. They are a honeymooning couple and Melanie has an accident and loses her memory of the past five years. Adam came across as too "perfect" and only became a more believable character near the end as his character became more realistic. His new wife, Melanie was pretty annoying for most of the book and I didn't like her meeting up with Tim. She suffered from lack of self confidence which was endearing but became a bit annoying after a while. I rate this book 4*.
Book 3: An Annoying and Unforgiving Hart by Crissy Sharp was very amusing story. I loved Cora (a police detective) and Neal (a dentist) had his endearing moments too. I really enjoyed their spats but I felt that Neal was a bit petty as he really could hold a grudge. I felt that Declan's situation was not fully concluded to my satisfaction. I did really enjoy this book, it was funny with great character dialogue. This book was told from a dual POV and I rate this book 4.5*.
Book 4: Daring Mr Darcy by Carolyn Miller & Meredith Resce This is a contemporary version of Pride and Prejudice redone and it was a charming RomCom. Elissa Bennett is an Australian busy with her postgraduate degree in Seattle and she meets Liam Darcy who is a well-to-do CEO of a ranch and head of some sustainable environmental initiatives. Elissa is no pushover and is easily offended by Liam's bumbling attempts to woo her. Throw in the Bennett family and Liam's sister, Georgia as auxillary characters and a delightful story emerges. I rate this book 4*.
Book 5: Dear Rose by Susanne Ash This full length book is based on a ranch in a small town. It's about Rose who helps her father run his ranch that breeds horses and Caleb, whose father owns the local grocery store. Caleb has been in love with Rose for years but they keep their relationship a secret because of Rose's father's likely disapproval. Things come to a head when new ranch hand, Shawn comes into the picture. This is a clean book with a HEA and no cheating. I found this book dragged a bit especially the first half and it only became more engaging during the second half. I rate this book 3.75* and didn't find much humour in the story which is more a contemporary romance than a RomCom.
Book 6: Falling for her Best Friend by Camilla Isley I loved this book from Camilla Isley, who doesn't disappoint. A trio of best friends all doctors who have been together since college. Lori is best friends with both Aiden and Jace but she has always believed that she was in love with Aiden. However, things come to a head when she receives a wedding invite from Aiden and she by mistake tells Aiden that Jace and her are in a relationship. A lot of things change in this heartwarming tale of these two doctors, they are both such realistic and likeable characters and the story was really enjoyable and charming. It is clean with only kissing but you can download a steamy epilogue (or a clean version) by signing up for the author's newsletter. I rate this book 4.5*.
Book 7: Flirting with my Billionaire Enemy by Cindy Ray Hale This book is about Kaison Keith whose father is a billionaire and he hires a software developer, Ariana and the two are forced to work together. This is an office romance and was an amusing, sweet, a little flirty but clean book with well developed, likeable characters. Kaison is surprisingly sweet though Ariana didn't initially think that when she first met him and the author portrayed him to be a sensitive and in touch with his feelings kinda guy which made him very endearing. Ariana has a few hang ups and despite being wildly attracted to Kaison, gives him a bit of a hard time. Ariana is also a budding author wannabe and Kaison has some surprises up his sleeve to help her with her endeavour. His extended family and the kittens made this a really fun romance which I thoroughly enjoyed. There is a bonus epilogue downloadable with sign up to the author's newsletter. I rate this book 5*.
Book 8: If I Let Love In by Brittney Mulliner This book is about Willa and James. He is a divorced man who he has moved back to his hometown from New York and he runs into one of his sister's close friends. Willa has had a crush on him since she was a teen and James lands up working at the same company and getting an apartment in the same building as Willa. Their relationship develops very quickly and seamlessly. This is more of a contemporary novel than a RomCom though there was some humour. Both main characters were very likeable and the auxillary characters made the story more interesting. I did find that the book dragged a bit in some parts but it was an enjoyable read. I rate it 4*.
Book 9: If the ring fits by Sally Johnson This novella is about Elsie (a map illustrator), Eric (a police officer) and Maddox (a tech billionaire). Elsie comes home for the holidays and through a car accident, meets both of these men. She lands up dating them both casually at the same time but after several dates each, she eventually has to choose who she is going to go with exclusively. I rate this book 4*.
Book 10: Love checks in by Grace J Croy This tender love story is a heart warming book about Penny and Maverick. Maverick comes to the mountainous area where Penny runs a lodge and he is part of a team who have investors that are interested in buying Penny's land to develop a ski resort, hotel and golf course. The two main characters are likeable and well developed and you can't help rooting for them to reach a compromise on such a contentious issue. The story has a lot of auxillary characters which adds to the storyline. This book is well written and clean, an enjoyable read. I rate it 4*.
Book 11: Love me tender, Love me true by Lucinda Whitney This charming story is about Juliana, a Portuguese marketing executive who is visiting the USA and has taken a temporary job as a dog sitter. She mistakenly assumes that the house she is staying in belongs to someone else and calls the cops on the rightful owner, Matt who owns a struggling museum. He allows her to carry on staying in his house and even gets roped into taking her on excursions in and around his small town. The longer they spend time together, the stronger their connection becomes. Both characters were believable and Oliver, the pup was adorable. A sweet romance which I rate 4*.
Book 12: Mom Squad by Kaci Lane This RomCom/Chicklit story is about Aniston, a travel vlogger who suddenly becomes an instant parent to her nephew and niece after the sudden death of her sister and her brother in law. Across the pond on the same property is Easton, a medical doctor who rents the carriage house that belonged to her brother in law. Aniston is such a klutz and over the top character that you can't help but relate to her. Despite all her mistakes she is sweet and really trying her best to be a mom (and dad) without any parental experience. Easton is endearing and so helpful and very likeable. It's a charming story, told from a dual POV and the main characters have surprising depth. I rate this book 4*.
Book 13: Royal Rumble by Holly Kerr A charming sweet story about two very likeable characters, Prince Odin of Laandia and Lady Camilla of Saint Pierre. They are engaged to be married for convenience but they have a secret past. Can they reconcile to have their happy ever after? Odin is a very kind, obedient and responsible royal but sometimes he puts others needs before his own. Camilla is a strong female character that has been groomed from birth to be the next prefect of Saint Pierre and has had a hard time with her stepfather. Odin's brothers were interesting characters, as are the palace staff. An endearing read which was very enjoyable, told from both POV. I rate this book 4*.
Book 14: Sparks Fly by Laura D. Bastian An clean, quick read about Adam, an electrician and his younger sister's BFF, Mia. It is a sweet story told from a dual POV. Adam needs help with handling the admin side of his business and Mia steps in to help him temporarily while she completes her studies. The book revolves around how their feelings for each other grow and how their relationship deepens as they spend more time working together. It was a nice story that gives you a warm, fuzzy feeling like a Hallmark movie. Quite a predictable story and I rate this book 4*.
Book 15: Stung by Love by Susan Mellon This RomCom revolves around Ruby, a senior college student and teacher, Liam. Ruby meets a lovely old lady, Betty who loves to matchmake. She adopts a dog from the local rescue centre and Ruby's job is to walk the dog. Liam recently moved to the area and also has a dog and Betty match makes them. Both characters were flawed but they manage to muddle their way together. A sweet story. I rate it 4*.
Book 16: Tripping into Love by Elsie Woods This last book in the anthology is about Anne Marie, a helper at the Doggy Spa. She meets Tripp, a dog expert celebrity who is filming at the nearby hotel. She doesn't realise how famous he is until they have interacted several times and are attracted to each other. Tripp has different personas and it was sweet that he was gentle, kind and vulnerable to her. He has a dream to leave his celebrity status behind and open up a dog rescue and hopefully have Anne Marie join him. I wish there was an epilogue to this book as it felt incomplete. It was an entertaining read and I rate it 4*.
This is not an anthology of short stories or novellas. Each of these is a full book in its own right. 2.5 - High Heels and Heifers by Susan Stradiotto and Leah Omar - she books her team for a cattle drive and falls for him-the-cowboy, very standard version of this trope 4 - Amnesia on Nantucket by Taryn Daniels - she is in an accident and has amnesia during their honeymoon; sequel to the Cousins of Nantucket series 5 - An Annoying and Unforgiving Hart by Crissy Sharp - she is undercover cop, he detests her for betraying a friend years ago 4 - Daring Mr. Darcy by Carolyn Miller & Meredith Resce - she is from Australia, he is rich businessman, she is big on environmental and finally is interested in him as she learns of his environmental practices and investments 2 - Dear Rose by Susanne Ash - DNF - she is trying to get her dad to let her run the family ranch that she will inherit, he works in his family grocery store but gets a job on the ranch to be close to her; the whole pace of the thing was slow and stilted. Since I've read other stories by this author and, despite liking the plots, the pacing always made it boring, I realized I wasn't enjoying this story for the same reasons. Rated it a 2 because the plot had promise and other people may not mind what was slow and boring for me. 4.5 - Falling For Her Best Friend by Camilla Isley - I loved it. I think I'm a sucker for he-falls-for-her-first tropes. Some people might want to know that this was as close to steamy as a closed-door rom-com can get. By which I mean that there was non-sexual sleeping together, staying the night at his/her place was normal, the assumption that people dating were also sexually involved, etc. 3 - Flirting With My Billionaire Enemy by Cindy Ray Hale - he tries to pick her up at a bar and the next day she starts her new job and guess who is her boss, his mom is in a car accident, so he needs to return home for a few weeks, she has to go with him so they can keep working on the big project at work; part of the Blue Mountain Billionaires series 3 - If I Let Love In by Brittney Mulliner - he is sick of New York and moves back home, getting a job at her company, they begin dating and it is so easy he wonders if something is wrong because aren't things only worth it if they are hard? 3 - If the Ring Fits by Sally Johnson - back in her hometown, she is pulled over by a cute cop, then is in an accident with a billionaire who buys her a replacement car; she goes on several dates with each man 5 - Love Checks In by Grace J. Croy - she runs rental cabins on property he needs for development; instead of throwing money at her, he tries to find something she'll like better; her 2 ex's show up in town and he runs interference for her 2.5 - Love Me Tender, Love Me True by Lucinda Whitney - after the death of her best friend, she leaves Portugal for the US and a relaxing dog sitting job, turns out it is at his house but he didn't know; he is trying to get funding for his small-town museum and ends up getting roped into helping her explore the events of the town; part of the Romano Family series 3 - Mom Squad by Kaci Lane - she becomes "mom" to her niece and nephew after her sister's death; he is a doctor who lives next door; she ends up volunteering at the school and all sorts of extreme/horrible accidents happen to her over and over 3 - Royal Rumble by Holly Kerr - she's the daughter of the prefect of a France colony, he's the 2nd son of the king of a country by Canada, they met as teenagers and she wrote him daily letters for months and then nothing, 10 years later he is rejected on a reality tv show, and then their fathers arrange their marriage 3 - Sparks Fly by Laura D. Bastian - He is an electrician with his sister as a temporary secretary. The sister finally quits and she (the love interest) takes over. She sets up a lot of computer stuff to make his business run better. He has to learn not to take her for granted (like he took his sister for granted). 2 - Stung By Love by Susan Mellon - Old lady notices her new handsome, young, male neighbor has a dog. So the lady hires a dog-walker, and THEN buys a dog, so she (the old lady) can set her (the dog-walker) up with him (the neighbor). Okay, that part is cute. But the rest is unrealistic, cliche, and boring. For example, she (the dog-walker) is allergic to bee stings and is stung multiple times, all over, has one epipen shot, and she is completely recovered. His dog ran off what she was UNCONSCIOUS from the bee stings, she looked for the dog for hours instead of going to the hospital, and he wants to know why she isn't out still looking for his dog. More examples available upon request. 4 - Tripping Into Puppy Love by Elsie Woods - she is totally energetic new worker at the doggy spa, he is the ultra-famous dog expert with reality show
* Tripping Into Puppy Love by Elsie Woods 5⭐️s Reader’s Notes:
– this is available in paperback on its own
– this is part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone
– this is told from Anne Marie & Tripp’s points of views
– Anne Marie assumes that there is a five year age gap between them
Review:
I loved Anne Marie & Tripp’s budding romance! Though I was a little confused by Anne Marie in the beginning, I was able to figure out just how naïve she was to anything outside of how she grew up and it endeared her to me. Tripp was very patient with Anne Marie’s lack of worldly knowledge and I loved that he got the chance to meet someone who just wanted to get to know him for himself rather than the things/fame he had. I loved that they both had a fondness for the dogs in their lives and that it brought them together. Some of my favorite scenes/moments included: Anne Marie’s fall, Dozer (all of them), Tripp’s visits to Anne Marie’s home, Anne Marie’s brother’s visit, and Anne Marie/Dozer saving the day.
Summary:
Anne Marie just left her very sheltered life to make her own way in the world. While working at her first job at the doggy day spa, she meets many famous and influential clients and can’t tell the difference between them and regular people. When she accidentally falls on one of the new clients, Anne Marie begins to fall in more ways than one. Tripp makes her feel seen and loved, and they both care for their furry charges. It seems like a match made in heaven…
Tripp is hosting a rescue dog competition, but hopes to someday be doing something else. He’s been in the spotlight for so long with people expecting him to be the way he is on TV at all times. It’s tiring. But when Tripp meets a girl who doesn’t know who he is, Tripp snatches the chance to just be himself without the expectations. Even if that means omitting part of his reason for being in town to Anne Marie…
* Flirting With My Billionaire Enemy by Cindy Ray Hale 5⭐️s Reader’s Notes:
– this is available in paperback on its own
– this is part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone
– this is told from Ariana & Kaison’s points of view
Review:
I enjoyed this quick enemies to more romance! Ariana and Kaison were great together and I loved it when they moved their work over to the Keith household! I loved that we got to see more interactions with Kaison’s brothers and that there was a lot of Mrs. Keith’s meddling throughout the story! I also really liked that Kaison had been away and changed before he came back from his trip, making him a different person than who Ariana’s cousin thought he was. Some of my favorite scenes/moments included: Mrs. Keith & Ariana spending time together, Mrs. Keith meddling in her sons’ relationships (or lack of), kids getting into the luggage, the kittens, game night, and when Mrs. Keith’s friends stopped by to visit her at home.
Summary:
Ariana goes out with her cousin to celebrate getting her dream job the night before she starts it. While there, they meet a cocky player who is interested in Ariana, but she isn’t willing to give a guy like that the time of day. When Ariana gets to work the next day though, she is surprised to find the same man she met the night before there too. Not only does Kaison work in the same building, but he happens to be her boss’s son, they are being assigned to work together on her project for the company, and he doesn’t recognize her at all in her business attire…
Kaison is happily surprised when he discovers that the girl he met the night before and the new hire at work are one in the same. He doesn’t know how he missed it for as long as he did, but Ariana is even more attractive now that he knows this about her. He just wishes she’d drop the cold front she puts up so he could know more. But when Kaison’s mother is in an accident and needs company while recovering, Kaison is quick to press pause in favor of helping his mom. And he knows that thankfully it won’t be pause for long, because Kaison & Ariana have a deadline to meet so she willingly is coming along with him…
