A butcher haunts the crags over Kempe Fell. A being from another time and another place, hunting for a spirit that is no longer here.
Fiadh and Annis must brave the dealings and secrets of a house long lost to time, and somehow find a way to placate the monster that awaits their return. All the while Fiadh continues to search for those who cast her from the cliffs of Tur Eumor.
Born in Jersey, Tristan Gray was a latecomer to Scotland, moving to the north in 2014.
After years of searching to find the real spark behind his writing Scotland unlocked it - The rugged country and dark history, which also inspired the works of George R. Martin, David Gemmell, and Elizabeth May, gave new meaning to the fantasy tales of his childhood.
Now, with a new connection to an adopted home driving his work, and inspiration stretching from conventional novels, to graphic novels, to games, Tristan is writing tales worthy of the inspiration by the land around him.
His first published work, the short story Whispers to a Crow, was published in August 2020.
These stories are dark and twisty, but wonderful to read. Gray creates so much atmosphere with his rich descriptions and use of Scottish English (I think that's the appropriate way to reference it), that you feel like you are instantly whisked into another world. I did find parts confusing, but overall I really enjoyed this.
Hauntingly dark, flows like a saga and reminds me of that feeling I had when my grandma told me stories of Scotland and Ireland when I was a wee little thing.
Tristan Gray has a phenomenal gift for telling a story. This was another short story, there's just so much packed in it.
Fiadh and Annis run into a warrior of the Asatru when trying to enter Kempe Fell.
She gives them a task in exchange for their lives and all those in Kempe Fell.
Mayhem ensues, for the town is already infested with The Order.
I received this ARC from Booksirens, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
I love the way the author creates the scenes and the creatures. Every book is exiting. The books refer to the previous ones. For a good understanding of everything, you should read from book 1. When reading the first book, I was a bit disappointed that the story was so short, but now I am okay with it. Just hoping, more books are to come. It must be, because Fiadh needs to find The Red Raven. I am looking forward to the next book.

This has been my favorite story in this series so far. It felt like the writing and plot were both upped a notch compared to the prior entry. The subject was darker and held a hint of eldritch horror beneath its surface was also a plus, and the references to Greek and Norse mythology (the weavers of fate) was a chef's kiss for me.

Another excellent adventure of Fiadh and Annis. The writing is spectacular; you really get sucked in and it's difficult to unwind yourself from Fiadh's story when you are finished. I love this series and highly recommend it!
This series has been wonderful and I've throughly enjoyed each and every book, but this one especially. Tristan Gray really reached a new level in writing in this book that was simply fantastic. I highly recommend this book.
I love this series! Tristan Gray had put out another great story with action and suspense. There were a few areas where the story slowed down but overall a great read, and I can’t wait for more books. I received a free copy of this book and am leaving a review voluntarily.
