He’s protective, wild and vicious. And hers. If only he didn’t terrify her.

For over a year, Mauviek has done his part to keep the humans safe from the dangers that surround them on Xavren. All it took was one stupid move by a group of them to push clan war into their territory. That’s when he first saw and rescued Natalie. Before the night ended, the vicious barbarian came out to play, leaving a trail of blood and death behind. Visions of what happened to her haunt him. If she belonged to him, protecting her would be on his terms.

Natalie knows Mauviek saved her. And still, she can’t help being afraid of the violence in him. But she’s even more terrified of the dangers he protects her from. She feels safest when he’s near but the thought of a claiming by him isn’t something she’s open to. At least not yet. She’s trying to find herself again and leave the past behind, but life is funny like that. Instead, trouble comes knocking.

When everything starts to fall apart, there’s only one barbarian she trusts. But this time, his help won’t come for free.

Vicious alien is book five in the Barbarians of Xavren Series. It is a steamy sci-fi romance, no cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA guaranteed! It can be read as a standalone.

Rounding this up from a 3.5. Carrying on with her barbarians of xavren series, we see what happens to Natalie after her kidnapping and assault. Mauvriek is a rough warrior hero who tries his best to be patient and caring to Natalie who is working through being raped (took place in the previous book). The two of them work out their feelings for each other and learn to be better at communicating. This is a decent story with plenty of sexy moments, PLENTY, and both characters go through some personal growth to end up together in a nice hea. There is a tiny bit of ow drama from the hero’s previous fling, and I would have liked the ow to have been set straight in a more determined way as she just kept coming for him after he clearly stated he wasn’t interested. I like how the hero struggled with his male pride when it came to sex as I think this was realistic because who hasn’t had to deal with men being stupid when being rejected, but he overcame his barbarian ways and got over his stupidity. Nice quick story, worth a read. There are triggers here though as the heroine is working through a pretty brutal rape experience. . Natalie has been fearful since her kidnapping and assault. Mauvriek, a Xavren warrior, helped rescue her, but went berserk on those that hurt her and that added to Natalie's trauma. Since then, she is timid around Mauvriek, but feels safe with him. He knows she is his mate, but is afraid her trauma wont allow them to bond. The story is well paced, has action, steam, twists, and so much more. It starts a little slow for me, but I enjoyed this addition to the Barbarian Clans of Xavren. All of these books are available to read for free with your KU subscription and would make a great binge read.

I received an ARC from Booksprout and this is my honest review.

There was a lot of action in this book with the usual marauding animals and tribal conflicts. But the focus of the book was the struggles between Natalie and Mauviek. She's trying to heal, and he is trying to figure out what she needs. But they don't have any communication skills so they constantly have problems cropping up. Though I wish there was a little more kindness for Mauviek and his struggles.

Overall, I thought it was well written and I really enjoyed it. Both Natalie and Mauviek are really likeable and trying their best. And I love how they grew over the book. And the action scenes were a nice break from the emotion.

I cannot for the life of me figure out how far the settlement is from the main caves. Sometimes it seems to take minutes. For example, when they need help But sometimes it takes a little more than a day, or maybe a long day. However, whenever traveling is mentioned the warriors bemoan never seeing their friends, which makes it sound much further than even a day.

Wow this book was amazing but a sad read about two people wanting each other but needing to over come past issues to have a future together. Natalie was attacked and raped by other clan member and she struggles every day to move forward but with the help of feeling safe and the security Mauvriek offers she is getting better everyday. She knows Mauvriek wants her to be his mate but she's just not ready but she hopes he will wait for her. Mauvriek saved Natalie from her attacker and wants nothing more than to be with her but he knows how badly she was injured and must be patient but he finds it hard to keep away when he just wants to protect her and keep her safe. There is danger all around them but out of all this these two find love and Natalie is finally ready to tell Mauvriek how she really feels about him. This book is about more than just trust and love but of the building of a relationship and working together and communicating for a HEA. Great book .

Alas, this book just didn’t do it for me. Usually I LOVE this author, but this book felt rushed- it had a lot of spelling and punctuation errors which detracted from the story.

I didn’t like the lack of communication between the main characters- it didn’t add to the drama, just made them seem incompatible. I hated how he kept pushing for sex, despite having literally seen her being raped. I’m sure there’s a better way to slowly build back up to being physical, and the way he did it was definitely not the right way. Don’t even get me started on the drama with his ex…

ALSO- how far away from the settlement are the caves?? At one point it says that it’s about an hours ride, but then when they’re heading back there, they leave at dawn and camp overnight? It feels very inconsistent and confusing.

I’m glad they had a happy ending and were happy with each other, but their journey there was a mess.

Shaking my Head! I already wrote a review for this book on another site and now I forgot what I wrote and cant find my review. So, let me crack on yeah? Mauviek and his other brothern have soent an additional uear help protecting the human settlement. But, within tbat year a particular female as caught his eye yet she experienced a traumatic event making her scared of her surroundings and other Xavern warrior males. But not Mauviek, since he saved Natalie from further abuse and killed her abuser. Can he help her be self confident in herself? To not be afraid of him or his other warrior brothers? I loved this story of Natalie and her slow growth of independence and confidence of herself. That they both were co-dependent but needed space to learn tbey can do things without one another. But, that doesnt mean they dont need ome another, but not always at the hip.

"I trust this barbarian more than any of the others so why does it still freak me out..."

"I trust this barbarian more than any of the others so why does it still freak me out when he touches me?"

Natalie was abducted and abused by another tribe not long after arriving on this Alien world and discovering the new life she'd been promised was nothing like the ads.

Mauviek rescued Natalie from her abuser, as a result he better than anyone knows the trauma she is recovering from... and respects the strides she's made. But can he convince her to see even a fraction of what he does, when she's perpetually aware of how much healing she still has ahead of her?

This done in one Kindle Unlimited quick read builds off events in previous stories but does a nice job of standing alone.

Natalie (h) tries to get by on an alien planet where she was sexually assaulted by a male from another tribe (assault was previous book). Mauviek (H) helped save her and was responsible for the death of the male who assaulted Natalie. They have romantic feelings for one another but must proceed slowly with one another to allow Natalie to move forward. Mauviek is really caring and protective of Natalie, even though he cares deeply for her. Natalie struggles with how to move forward in their relationship even though she cares for him too. I really enjoyed these two and the ups and downs of their relationship. There was some good POV use to provide insight as to how a male and a female can view the same actions and events so differently from one another.

Finding Strength and Trust . . .

Natalie has been through a very nightmarish experience when someone from another tribe (in a previous book) rapes her. Mauviek saved her life and killed her attacker. He cares for her and would love to have her as his mate, but he knows what she is going through and is patient with her. She trusts him and needs to know he is protecting her, yet she is not ready to move forward to a relationship. Communication would help, but it is not always easy and it is something Mauviek has to get used to doing as he tries to figure out how to help her.

Both of them do have feelings for each other, but Natalie struggles to heal and accept that she can fully trust Mauviek with her heart and body. Will the two of them find a way to full acceptance and love?

Mauviek is protective of Natalie, and he knows he will have to be careful with his potential human mate, for she is scarred from been previously attacked by some vicious enemies. Can he help her heal, and win her heart? Or will he run of of patience waiting for her? Natalie has plenty to recover from, will she regain her confidence to live again? Or stay trapped? I enjoyed this alien and human romance, Natalie has plenty of challenges to overcome, and Mauviek is caring and understanding, even though he is a warrior/hunter.

A sweet romantic story for Mauviek and Natalie

This is book five and it’s a sweet story. The book picks up where book four ends. As you know from the previous books Natalie was brutally claimed by the bad Barbarians and she doesn’t know how to live with it. Mauviek was the one to rescue Natalie. He has worked hard to be her safe person, without touching her, and to watch over her through out the day. Mauviek wants to make a peace offering to another group of Barbarians, but Brotak is not sure because he has lack of trust. Mauviek decides to ask Natalie if she wants to travel with him on the journey. Read On!

This is a first for me by this author and this is the 5th book in the series but I was still able to enjoy the whole thing it might have been more enjoyable if I had read the other books but I don't think it really detracted from this story. I am now going to go and read the other books in the series as I enjoyed this one so much. .

Fantastic alien sci-fi romance with Mauviek and Natalie it’s a pretty emotional story with Natalie trying to get over the trauma from her past and Mauviek who’s not sure what Natalie needs or wants because they don’t speak the same language so communication is zero between them. Their chemistry is sizzling 🔥 I loved the characters there’s plenty of misunderstandings and it’s very well written with a fantastic storyline and I highly recommend this book/ series.

I have read the series from the first book and the MMC Maueviek has just become my favorite hero in the series. He is darling! (It's the first time I used that word when referring to an alpha alien). His patience must have been a mile long. He may be the vicious alien but when it comes to his Natalie he is the complete opposite.

A Great Read!
I really like stories where one of the main characters is damaged and the other loves them in spite of the challenges it presents. In Vicious Alien, the heroine is suffering from PTSD from sexual assault. While she's skittish, she grows to trust the hero. I loved watching their relationship grow. I think I need to go back and read the previous books in the series as this was my first by this author.

"ALWAYS HAVE"
4 1/2 ⭐ Mauviek rescued her from a terrible attack and helped heal her injuries. He becomes her protector. He wants her love. Natalie is so traumatized and frightened. She wants to avoid everyone except him. He makes her feel safe. Will she find the strength to recover and tell him how she feels? Can he love her as she is?.

I really enjoyed this book. Great world building. I loved the characters. Natalie and Mauviek were very realistic and relatable. Mauviek wants Natalie for his mate. But she is healing from trauma and isn't ready to consider it. In addition to the romance aspect, this book does have action. I loved watching their relationship strengthen and turn to love. Very well written, and well paced. 5 stars.

Healing

Vicious Alien is a solid sci-fi romance. Natalie, the heroine, is struggling to recover from assault by the Sorn. Mauviek, a massive, muscular, sexy Scargad clan member rescued her and wants to be her mate. Their story is about healing, trust, feeling safe, and finding strength and love in becoming independent.
