Ten years ago, the Rogues disbanded and went their separate ways. But time hasn’t been kind to the former blue-collar super-criminals. Caught in an endless cycle of prison, rehab, dead-end jobs, broken relationships, probation, and endless restitution fees, the Rogues are sick of paying for their crimes. Luckily, Captain Cold has a plan. One last job that will leave them all richer than their wildest dreams and free from their past…if they can survive. This is the Rogues as you’ve never seen them before, reimagined by the incredible talents of master storytellers Leomacs (Basketful of Heads) and Joshua Williamson (Batman, The Flash, Infinite Frontier). DC Black Label presents Rogues, a neo-noir heist that will make your blood run cold..
I really dig the aesthetic of this one. Punk rock, dive bar, heist ensemble, set the the beat of aging super villains going after one last score. I definitely wanna see the ending of this one. I hope the momentum keeps going strong.
3.5 stars. Captain Cold is tired of being broke living a crap life so he comes up with the ultimate heist, rob Gorilla Grodd of some of his gold. He goes out and recruits the old crew. I feel like they are going to get locked up or killed. Pretty cool first issue.
Captain Cold lives up to his name in this one, although, to be fair, he's a desperate, bitter old man here. This is a geezer heist story and I'm liking how it is developing so far.
Love these type of stories. Each rogue is in a different part of their life yet they all reunite....this won't be pretty. Great artwork and dialogue make this a blast.
Fritz introduced me to the Black Label book. He has always had an affinity for the rogues. Snart is in charge here. He's an older guy. But he wants to steal the gold from Grood's vault. He recruits his sister, Mick, and some other others. The first thing they do is break Mirror Master out from a pysch ward. He's hopped up on some major meds.
This is a good issue #1 as we are introduced to the characters and the job they will pull.
I wanted to give this four stars, because the concept is great, and it’s well-written. But the art? Ugh…not to my taste at all. Very sloppy line work, and the color pallet was full of pastels for know discernible reason. I’ll keep reading the series for the story, but I will avoid Leomacs’ art on anything else in the future.
4.75 Stars. Wow! Man, I thought this might be ok, but this was fricken' highly entertaining! Loved it! The last couple pages literally made me sit up and kinda yell "WHOA!" I love it when when I go into a book not really expecting too much and then get surprised by its quality. DC Black Label has been putting out some good stuff, looking forward to #2 with great enthusiasm!
"You know when you say my name like that, it sounds like you're calling me "bitch""
• Captain Cold assembles the Rogues for one final heist in Gorilla City • In their older age, substance abuse and poor mental health have impacted the group. • First task? Time to liberate Mirror Master from his incarceration.
I will never get over how lame some of these villains names are and how cartoonish their caricature-personas are. That said, this looks to be a great story. A sort of twisted reformation and revenge tour.
