A re-read -- er listen. https://kavsbestreads.ca/2023/11/17/r...

Woohooo! This is the book I've been waiting for -- when we finally get to find out what happened to baby Chloe. 'Rescue Mission' is the eighth book in this multi-authored series and I love how each previous book edged us closer to this big reveal. If you're new to this series, you can totally jump in here so no catching up needed, though you'd enjoy it if you did.

Each book in the series has it's own unique suspense and romance as well as an overarching suspense plot that finds resolution in this final instalment. But the authors do a great job of catching new readers up with former heroes and heroines as well as the progress of the suspense tie-in so you can really hop in at any point in the series.

The intense opening scene sets the stage for this action-packed grand finale. I felt like I knew Kate already from snippets in previous books and I was excited to delve into her story. And -- bonus points -- she comes with her very own therapy dog so we get double the puppy love and that makes me very happy. :-) Plus hero Lucas is kinda alluring in his own right.

I like that there's a bit of a history between these two as well. More on Lucas's end since he has been watching over Kate (in a way) since her attack eight months previously. So he's really invested in the outcome of this case and his protector spidey senses are fully charged. It makes the romance that develops all the more realistic.

And, though 'amnesia' isn't my favourite trope in a suspense plot, I really like the way it plays out here. It's been eight months since Kate's attack and she's been through extensive physical and psychological therapy during that time. Even so, she still hasn't fully regained her memories. They are coming to her in fragmented pieces though, and no one knows if she will ever fully recover. I like how realistic this approach to the amnesia trope is. I just bought into it more, plus it really amped up the suspense all through the series as we got updates on Kate's recovery...and lack of solid memories that could have helped the investigation along.

Eason delivers an enthralling conclusion to this outstanding series! I'm thrilled that all the books are available in audio format and I have the entire collection in my audible library to revisit in the future. I find it interesting that each book has a different narrator. They've all been fantastic and I really enjoyed Carol Jacobanis's performance in this one.

Oh -- and while I say 'Rescue Mission' is the Rocky Mountain K-9 Unit grand finale, we still have a set of Christmas novellas to look forward to in December. Woohoo!

This is the last book in a series that I hadn't read, it did provide enough detail to figure out what was going on, but I also felt like I missed quite a bit of the background. I didn't understand why Lucas was the only officer protecting Kate when there were people trying to kill her. Will Kate recover her memories to figure out who was after her? There was a lot of action and intrigue that kept me hooked, however the romance felt rushed. I liked their interactions and what they could be together, but I also feel like they didn't really know each other enough.

Rescue Mission was a good read and better than I was expecting. I liked finally getting answers on what happened to the child and with Kate. Suspenseful at times and an easy read.

The final book in the Rocky Mountain K-9 Unit series, brings a satisfying conclusion to the story begin in the first book dealing with a missing baby. In this book, we get K-9 Unit handler Lucas Hudson's and his K-9 partner, Angel's stories. Kate Montgomery was in a near-fatal automobile accident, the baby that she had in her car went missing, in the first book in this series. By now, she has come out of her coma, but still has not regained her memory. As this story progresses, she begins to remember snippets, until the story comes together and she is in serious danger. Someone is trying to kill her, probably whoever has the baby. Why she is in danger is a mystery that will be solved in this story, as well as what has happened to the missing baby.

This story is fast paced and full of action. Angel is a protection dog and her role is to keep Kate safe, after she has been attacked. They now go on the run in the mountains of Montana, but they seem to be followed and are constantly running, shooting or driving snowmobiles crazily in the forests. It was easy to figure out what was going to happen next as the story unfolded, but I was still on the edge of my seat, hoping that baby Chloe was safe. With a couple psychotic criminals trying to kill them, Chris and Angel had their work cut out for them. I really enjoyed this story, but definitely wish I hadn't listened to this one first. I am going back to read the rest of the series, but this one will spoil some of the plotlines in the previous books. For that reason, I recommend you read this series in order. I listened to the audiobook narrated by Carol Jacobanis. This is the first time I have listened to this voice actress and enjoyed her performance. If you enjoy romantic suspense, and/or K-9 stories, I recommend this series to you.

My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Rescue Mission. This is book eight and the end of the series Rocky Mountain K-9 Unit. Now you'll have all the answers. Lynette is one of my favorite LIS authors. This book is incredible. It's well-written, action-packed, and full of suspense. I know you are going to love it.

Kate Montgomery has come out of her coma but has many of her memories missing. She doesn't know why she had her friend's baby daughter who is now missing, why her friend had been killed, or what could have happened that almost killed her. She takes some time to go to the mountains of Montana to relax. She feels a need to go there and paint. She is attacked on the first night of her arrival.

Rocky Mountain K-9 Unit Officer Lucus Hudson and his partner are sent to protect their only witness as she recovers from amnesia. After she is attacked they must go into hiding. Hiding in the mountains of Montana might bring back her missing memories.

A terrible journey of survival in the icy mountains. God has a plan for these two, a plan for hope and for a future. God has a plan for you too, a good plan for peace and not for destruction, even in this time of political unrest and chaos. give Him your heart and watch Him work in your life.

A wild ride to finish this continuity!

Lucas and Angel go to check on Kate who is finally starting to get her memory back. She has gotten Cocoa, a cute little emotional support dog to help her deal with the stress of not knowing where Chloe is. But someone is trying to kill Kate and fortunately, Lucas and Angel get there just in time to stop him. Now they are on the run, but the bad guys always seem to know where they are hiding. Will Kate be able to stay alive long enough to find Chloe? Is there going to be a future for either of them?

The pace is breakneck and the tone is uncertain yet hopeful with an action and character oriented storyline that has some kisses at the end only. The characters are vibrant and endearing. The Christian ideals are visible and believable. There is some praying as well as some discussion about Christian beliefs. You really need to read this series in order to get the most out of it. If you like your Christian romances with lots of surprises and action, some good character development and dogs that are partners, then this is the series for you! Enjoy!

On the same night that Kate Montgomery was in a near-fatal automobile accident, the baby that she had in her car went missing. The same night, the baby's mother was found to be dead as well. The Rocky Mountain K-9 Unit and the Denver police department have been trying to find baby Chloe ever since the accident. Finally, Kate is out of the coma and is slowly recuperating and getting some of her memory back. Kate has a weird feeling that she needs to go to Searcy, Montana, but doesn't have any idea why. Her friend with the Denver PD, Skylar, has arranged for her to stay in a cabin in the area. On her first night, even before she reaches her destination, she is attacked at the place where she is staying. Fortunately for everyone, Skylar asked K-9 Officer, Lucas, to check in on Kate. He gets there just in time to catch Kate in his arms as she runs from her cabin. Who is after her? And why do they keep finding her so easily?

This is another great hit in the Rocky Mountain K-9 series. Kate Montgomery still cannot remember exactly what happened on that fateful night of her accident that almost killed her. The accident left her in a coma with a head injury and baby Chloe missing. Lucas Hudson is with the Rocky Mountain K-9 Unit. He works alongside his K-9 partner, Angel. It soon becomes readily apparent that someone thinks Kate knows more the she remembers, and they want her dead. Lucas and Angel are tasked with keeping her safe and hopefully helping her recover her memories so that they bring baby Chloe home safely. I have thoroughly enjoyed this entire series, and this book. Any book with Lynette Eason's name on the front is a winner in my opinion! There is danger, mystery and a little romance with an inspirational message as the characters learn to lean on their faith. There is plenty of action as Lucas and Kate are on the run from the kidnappers who want to silence Kate forever.

What missing memories does Katie have about the night when she was in an amnesia-causing accident and a baby had been kidnapped? Can Lucas Wilson and his K-9 Partner Angel keep her alive until she's able to help them find the infant?

"Rescue Mission" by Lynette Eason is the finale of the Rocky Mountain K-9 Unit series. (Okay, there's a pair of novellas following this, but this novel completes the unresolved story-lines the previous volumes established.) Katie Montgomery is introduced (comatose) in the first novel, and the following books follow Katie's coming to and the few clues they have to what happened.

If you like exciting romantic fiction, especially with a helpful and trained K-9 assistant, you'll definitely love this story. Since it's the last one in the series, I'd advice reading the other books first, but more so to be able to enjoy the stories that set up for this one than to not feel lost reading the last book first.

Lynette Eason writes a good book so I usually look forward to reading her books. Rescue Mission is another good read although I did have some concerns about it. I would have liked more plot and character development in this novel because I felt that the plot elements were rushed. I didn't really get to know the characters well although I knew about Kate from other books in the series. I would have liked for the author to spend more time developing the relationship between Lucas and Kate before he's asking her to marry him. I like Ms. Eason's use of dialogue to move her plot forward quicker than using narration. Luckily, my online library has a lot of Ms. Eason's books available, and I'll be checking them out.

I decided to quit waiting to get a copy of the middle books of this series (I’ve only read the first) and grabbed this one for a comfort read. Lucas and Kate’s story is a quick-moving witness protection/guardian/K-9/amnesia story and as usual Lynette Eason knocks it out of the park on all the tropes. The breaking up of her amnesia and recovering of clues is sprinkled in between action sequences as the would-be killers stalk her to try to prevent her ever remembering what happened during her car wreck, and especially to keep her from getting back her dead best friend’s baby girl, who she is legal guardian for. It’s up to Lucas and his dog, with a little help from her emotional support dog too, to keep her alive and catch the bad guys.

So much to love about this book!

Amnesia is a favorite trope of mine. I loved how is involved a missing baby and a slowly returning memory this time.

Suspense is a favorite genre of mine. I loved how the stakes kept rising throughout the story. It was also great to see this genre set in late-autumn Montana. Fantastic choice!

The leading characters and their romance were fantastic. I was hooked until the very end.

The only setbacks (which were very minor) were that one, the quick rundown of fellow K-9 team members was too fast to absorb and held major spoilers for the previous books and two, that one baddie was obvious to me (but the others were complete surprises, which was great fun).

I hope to read more of this series soon.

Best one yet

Surprise after surprise in this K9 drama. From almost death from being thrown onto a road, awakening after a coma with no memory as to what happened, and where the baby she was entrusted to care for, disappeared to. Months of searching, several attempts on her life, Kate is determined not to give up. Her safety is entrusted to a K9 handler, who begins to fall for Kate, but afraid to get hurt or lose sight of his job to stay alert, he tries to avoid the pull of emotion.

Snow Blinding Suspense

Rocky My K-9 #8 finds us in Montana with Luke and his dog Angel providing protection for a woman involved in an accident who had memory loss due to her injury. In the car she was driving was a 4 month old baby she was caring for. The baby was kidnapped and Kate, the woman was being pursued by the man who caused her accident. A short but interesting K-9 read. Enjoyed this one, have read several in this series and found them good for an afternoon reading.

Mystery

This book kept you guessing, all the way to the end of who was passing the information to the hit people who wanted to kill Kate and keep the baby to be raised in a crime family. The author is a very strong writer in her ideas of how a book should be presented to keep you interested. The words are easy to read and would be good for everyone from 8 to 90 years old to read. Thank you for another wonderful book.

Rescue mission

I felt like I had plunged into a book that started somewhere else, but eventually Kate's memories start to fill in the blank spots for her AND this reader. A case of amnesia aided & abetted by one who should have been helping was finally resolved and the culprits were caught. K-9 Angel helped find Chloe, and canine support dog did her part as well.

Lots of excitement and intrigue. Kate is running from someone trying to kill her. She is trying to remember who is after her and why but lost her memory during a car crash. Also her friend's baby is missing but she doesn't remember why the car seat was in her car! Can Lucas keep her safe and find the missing baby?

Great story

Lucas, a K-9 officer, protects and helps Kate as she recovers from having amnesia and tries to remember what happened to Chloe. But they have to figure out whodunit, do their best to stay alive, and find baby Chloe because someone's after Kate. This was a great story that had lots of suspense, action, and twists and turns.

This was such a great book! It was a great ending to what started back in the first book at the beginning of the year. I have eagerly awaited every single book in this series, and I really enjoyed this one! I have read most of Lynette Eason’s books, and I knew this would be good.

I want more!

I loved the there of this book. I just hate for any book of this series, even though they are inner linked, to end. There is so much imagination, and writing talent, that keeps my interest.

Thrilling Read

This is one of those books that are hard to put down. It was a heart-warming story with a happy ending. The characters were so real and different in their make-up and blended together so well.

This book was okay. It just didn't feel like there was a lot of depth to it. The two main characters, Lucas and Kate, were all right but not super interesting. The plot itself was interesting overall, but not super exciting. I think, in the end, it was just fine.

Outstanding! So far, I have really enjoyed all the books in this series. Multiple authors, but the K-9 unit personnel is very continuous and every story has been terrific. I really enjoy seeing the characters appear in other stories. Read them all!
