Basic yet comprehensive Turkish makam theory in a language other than Turkish (a rarity)! Presents revisions to standard (Yekta-Arel-Ezgi-Uzdilek) theory in accord with the findings of my dissertation research (see below), including, for the first time in a makam theory text, "principles of melodic movement and modulation" which help explain and teach how melodies progress and move between makam-s. Extensive material in the appendices also "translate" the basics for (Mashriqi) Arab maqam enthusiasts.
