I wish more businesses were practicing positive psychology. If so, I believe that employees would be happier with their jobs as well as happier in their lives. I also believe that happier employees will work harder to reach goals and that leads to better bottom lines. It would be wonderful if everyone in leadership, managerial, or supervisory roles were required to read this book.
I enjoyed this book because of subject topic. Posistivity in the work place brings more positive results. Sweden has been more successful with positive communication, shorter work weeks, longer vacations and morale for years. The US needs to put more into their companies to encourage positivity. Seminars for change and support can improve worker s over all betterment for the company.
Read this for a work book club. Not really new topics but good reminders on how to be happy at a job. I like the theme of positive psychology and think it has good lessons for managers. There were not many examples at an analyst level so had to apply the lessons
This book is deffiently aimed at professional leaders, but I read it just starting my career and there were some really interesting points about how to be productive and happy in your job.
Another cheesy educator book encouraging unrealistic expectations. At least this one was data driven and had SOME moments that seemed achievable, so I’ll give it that.
Wow, this book is SO fantastic I think it should be a must-read for every manager/leader in every industry. I'll admit I was skeptical...I have read A LOT of these types of books in my endless quest to be a good manager. And let me tell you, in all the real-world scenarios that are described in each chapter, I can relate to every single one. I've also cried in front of a coach, thought I was being fired, and acted like everyone else was the problem in all types of situations, only to realize, spoiler alert...I was the problem. This book is very much like having sessions with a professional coach and also I think it reminds us all that our problems are not unique. When going through all of these hard situations, it's easy to play the victim and feel like the problem is only us individually and no on else has ever struggled. Really, any issues are an opportunity and the chance to develop brilliance and ultimately actually be brilliant. I found the writing easy and comfortable, and honestly, very kind. Oh and don't forget inspiring, but with a heavy dose of realism...this stuff is hard and humbling, but the writer made me think I can get better and be successful leading teams once again. Thank you for writing this book!
