Feinstein touches on a number of topics, including • the common cognitive challenges that occur with MS, such as slowed information processing speed, impaired memory, and executive function deficits
• psychiatric disorders that accompany MS, such as depression and psychosis
• current neuropsychological, brain MRI, and treatment data applicable to the psychiatric and cognitive disorders Mind, Mood, and Memory in Multiple Sclerosis is enhanced both by the latest science and by eloquent case histories that illustrate each cognitive and emotional disorder. Feinstein also provides recommendations for evidence-based therapeutic interventions. Written in an immediate, accessible way, this book has a crossover appeal, making it of interest not only to neurologists, psychiatrists, neuropsychiatrists, neuropsychologists, psychologists, occupational therapists, and nurses but also to people with MS and their caregivers, family, and friends.

I live with my sister who has had MS for about 20 years, and I wanted to see if there was any information that could be helpful in explaining the cognitive symptoms that I was noticing, and hopefully help me with possible strategies for caregiving. You always tend to think about the physical symptoms that are easy to see, but not so much about the cognitive impact unless you’re in close proximity on a daily basis.

The book was quite illuminating and helped me understand the reasons behind the behaviors I was witnessing. The book made clear that many of the behaviors were a direct byproduct of the disease itself and not separate issues. As a caregiver, bringing many of the unknowns into the realm of known, was reassuring, but on another level, a big bummer. But it does help me formulate coping strategies better.

I want to thank the author for taking the time to write about these cognitive issues of MS which greatly helps me as a loving brother and caregiver.

I came to this book as someone with Multiple Sclerosis concerned about my cognition and wanting to better understand the impact of MS on brain health. Despite being touted as appropriate for health professionals, it was so easy to read and understand, and the use of 'case studies' made it highly engaging. I'll admit that there were a few occasions that I found the stories somewhat depressing and hard to read. butnthese were far outweighed by theb benefits ofthe book. I now feel that I have a better ubderstanding of my MS as well as steps I can be taking to move forward, topics to discuss with my neurologist and the various options available to me. I cannot recommend Mind, Mood and Memory highly enough!
