When Jace is asked by some of his teammates to join them in Hawaii for an off-season vacation, he jumped at the chance for not only the vacation part, but also the team-bonding he really craved with his new teammates. He’s new to the team and wants to become a permanent fixture so getting to know the guys and Hawaii is a win-win.
I can’t tell you guys how happy this entire story made me feel. I never felt too this or that, I was just always content and smiling, even thru the cliché conflict! LOL The entire storyline just had this aura of romance, and it melted my heart. Two professional athletes at different levels in their careers coming together to journey to HEA … I mean who would have thought it was easy? Well, Kat Mizera wrote it that way and that kids, is what makes her one of my favorite authors. This story could have been riddled with angst and gone completely off the sunshine rails for about 75% of the story, but Kat didn’t make that the focus. She made their kismet love be the focus and everything else was just noise. I love her even more after reading this story!
I should probably be telling you that this is a solid 4.5 read because the conflict was cliche AF and it could be seen coming from outer space without binoculars, but I just can't because I LOVE JACE & TAWNY, so infinite stars it is!

I don't know how there could be a better meeting between two people than in this one! I laughed, only in the aftermath after everyone was safe, but holy cow...had it happened to me I would have freaked out!
It was easy to understand why Tawny didn't want to be "known" right away. Being semi famous in certain circles and with her past, being regular was good. If anyone could understand, it would be Jace, who with getting called up last season, had his own brush with fame and people knowing him.
These two were super cute, I was glad that they went with the attraction and took the time to get to know each other and that Jace was able to follow Tawny on the first part of her tour. It seemed like when any conflict came in, it was her agent and also easy to see why Tawny couldn't see why he was so bad. It took him really stepping over the line for her to realize what was important to her and do something about it.
The ending to this one was great! Both of them were doing great in their careers and finding a way to make their relationship work.

As they explored Hawaii I could easily envisage myself tight there with them. From the first chapter to the last, I was hooked on the story that Ms. Atomizer wove and I quickly became invested in Ace and Tawny’s story.

A hockey romance at the beach that will have you craving sand and ocean. 🏄♀️🏒
Jace us vacationing with three of his Fort Lauderdale Knights teammates in Hawaii after losing in the Stanley Cup finals. He notices a beautiful woman surfing and the next thing he knows he’s up close and personal with a tiger shark.
Tawny/Tammy is one of the top woman on the professional surfing tour, and she notices the shark 🦈 swimming near the sexy guy from the beach. She comes to his rescue, helps him back to the shore and makes sure he’s relatively ok before disappearing to avoid any attention. She later learns he has a bracelet that is special and they reconnect. She’s a little thrilled he has no idea who she is and agrees to go out to dinner with him.
Watching these two fall in love while visiting special spots around Hawaii, at surfing competitions was fun. Neither knows much about the others’ sport and they spend lots of time getting to know each other. Her friends mesh well with his teammates which bodes well for seeing more surfing and hockey together in the next book in the series.
This was a nice summer vacation romance before the second season ramps up for the Knights. Jace is concerned whether he will make the NHL team or if he will be sent back to the minor league team. He’s worried if he doesn’t make the NHL team his chances of a long term relationship with Tawny is doomed both because of his meager financial means and the minor league team being in Atlanta, four hours away from a beach.

After being called up at the end of last season, Jace is enjoying a well deserved vacation with some of his teammates in Hawaii before starting to train in the offseason to secure his spot on the Lauderdale Knights. But, when he’s attacked by a shark in the ocean and he’s rescued by a stunning surfer, his life is about to change in ways he couldn’t have imagined.
Having already lost a fiance, Tawny’s only focus was on her surfing career and becoming number one. But, after rescuing Jace, she starts realizing there is more to life than surfing and she suddenly finds herself wanting more with the sexy hockey player she should never have even crossed paths with.
Hot and heavy from the start, their friendship develops as well. But, can they survive a long distance relationship and opposite seasons as pro-athletes, especially when Tawny’s manager is doing everything in his power to break them apart?
I loved Long Shot! Jace just wants to succeed, because it’s taken so long for him to finally get his chance at going pro. He doesn’t want to be derailed, but yet he knows Tawny is something special. He also helps Tawny see that she deserves so much more than she expects and that life happens out of the waves as well. Both are driven, yet realize life is short, so taking a chance on love is a game changer for both of them.
There is the perfect amount of drama to keep things interesting and even a tease of the next book coming, as Wolf runs into his past in Hawaii and now can’t stop thinking about the one who got away.

I have been a life long hockey fan and now as an adult and consummate hopeful romantic, hockey romance is my passion. Kat Mizera is one of my favorite hockey romance authors and this story is one of the most unique I have read.
Jace is an excellent player but he just needs that extra something to get him into the NHL permanently. He was brought up recently for the Lauderdale Knights during the end of season and he proved his worth and earned a spot and made friends with his new teammates but it's off season now and he may not be called back. He has to train, work and play harder to earn himself a permanent spot. Much to his delight, he was asked by some of the players to join them in Hawaii on vacation. As soon as they got back he was hitting the gym and ice hard to prove his worth. While on the beach, he meets a beautiful surfer girl, and eventually she would save him from a shark attack!!
Tawny sees this "landlubber/farmboy" struggling when a shark comes for him. Tawny's instincts kick in and she manages to "discourage" this shark from making Jace his next meal.
Now according to island lore, Jace owes Tawny his life and service. The 2 grow very close but reality is knocking at their door and they know that their lives may never be the same but those lives are pulling them in different directions.
Which direction is your heart going to pull you in? I guarantee this is not your everyday hockey romance but sometimes different is just what we need!

"Long Shot" is a sweet, steamy and emotional story about working hard for your future and finding your
forever in the process. Jace and Tawny's story was a special story to read, and I enjoyed every word.
After finally being called up from the minor, Jace had a few great games playing with the Lauderdale
Knights when they were in the playoffs. It's now the off-season and he's on vacation in Hawaii with some of his teammates. While out swimming in the ocean one day, he meets Tawny, a professional surfer, as she's surfing. But after a shark attack, Tawny saves him. The two end up becoming friends and their chemistry quickly ignites. Both are focused on their careers, Jace being on the permanent roster and Tawny working to be the number one surfer in the world. But both can't resist the pull they have toward each other.
I loved Jace and Tawny based on how hard they worked to get where they were at in their careers. Never slowing down and earning every opportunity. Jace is a genuine guy who supports his friends and was one of Tawny's biggest supporters. Tawny worked hard for the success she had in the surfing world, and I loved reading about the competitions she had. Jace and Tawny had an interesting meet cute on the beach with Jace getting bit by a shark. Their friendship and relationship developed so naturally and never felt rushed. New to the Fort Lauderdale Knights is Jace Sutherland fresh from the minor league team he made some amazing plays and has the chance of a lifetime to earn a spot on the Knights. It is going to take some hard work and focus to make his dream come true. While on vacation with teammates he meets professional surfer Tammy. Tammy is focusing on her career and mending a broken heart after losing her long time boyfriend. She was not expecting Jace and the pair began a whirlwind vacation romance to remember.
From the very beginning these two have such amazing chemistry. And friends, this is no slow burn, these two cannot keep their hands off of each other. And the people around them quickly take notice that this in fact is not a vacation fling. I really loved the relationship that these two built in such a short window of time, and the amazing setting of the beautiful islands of Hawaii. Mizera really made us feel like we were there with these two as they surfed the waves and hung out at the beach. Jace is truly one of the sweetest heroes and supports Tammy in her career and builds her when she is getting too hard on herself. While Tammy understands the demands and focus that Jace needs to compete at the professional level you will be rooting for this pair to get their hard earned HEA! And the side characters that Mizera has introduced us to will make you want more of these amazing Ft Lauderdale Knights!

Kat Mizera gets a hat trick with book three in the Lauderdale Knights series, LONG SHOT In this story, Hockey player Jace Sutherland, is rescued from a shark attack by professional surfer Tawny Hayes. The two hit it off and have an intense romance while Jace is vacationing in Hawaii, but with Tawny’s traveling for competitions and Jace needing to head back to the East coast, their relationship has a time limit.
I loved this story. Jace and Tawny are wonderful characters. Both are professional athletes who are focused on their careers. Jace has a two-way contract with the Lauderdale Knights and their AHL affiliate the Atlanta Lieutenants. He was called up to the Knights toward the end of the season doing well in the play-offs but is concerned about maintaining his spot on the team. Tawny’s fiancé died two years prior, and she had been in morning. Jace is the first person to spark her interest during that time. The characters have interesting obstacles and emotions to overcome throughout this story. They are good for each other helping each other heal and grow.
LONG SHOT is skillfully written and thought-provoking. I enjoyed the surfing aspect to this story. I do not know a lot about surfing, so it was interesting reading about it. LONG SHOT is an excellent addition the Lauderdale Knights series. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

I really enjoyed this story. It takes place during the off season and during the summer and starts in Hawaii but actually the characters travel all over. It was a really different story within this series and introduces the readers to the world of surfing.
In this story we meet Jace and he is part of the Lauderdale Knights but he was brought in from the minor team to replace a player at the end of the season. He is on vacation in Hawaii with the guys from his team. But he is in a different class as he does not have a contract with the Knights, yet.
In Hawaii he meets a shark that takes a bite out him and he is rescued by Tawny. Tawny is a model and famous surfer who is recovering from losing her fiancee in a surfing accident. She rescues Jace and they end up falling for each other.
Since Jace has the time he ends up traveling with her and I loved learning about the whole surfing world. While she has freedom and lots of money, Jace becomes something special to her.
Can they make it together? What happens when its time for Jace to play hockey and will he end up on the Knights? Those are questions you will have to read this book to find out. A truly awesome read and a really fun story.

Jace is a professional hockey player with the Lauderdale Knights. Jace is on vacation with a few Knight teammates before heading back to Florida to get in shape for training camp. Jace knows this could be his last shot at making the big leagues. Jace is out on the beach when he sees sexy surfer. Jace decides to take a swim but is attacked by a shark, and his sexy surfer comes to his rescue. Tawny is a pro surfer who lost her soulmate and has spent the last 3 years working her way to be the top female surfer in the world. Tawny and Jace have an instant connection and amazing chemistry. Jace decides to follow Tawny on tour before he has to head back Florida to get ready for training camp. Can Jace overcome his insecurities about not being good enough to make the Knights? Will Tawny realize that being number one is not what she really wants? Who tries to come between Tawny and Jace? Can Jace and Tawny make time for each other outside of their busy careers, or will they be pulled in different directions? I loved Long Shot by Kat Mizera! Jace and Tawny burn up the pages with their chemistry. I love Jace and Tawny as a couple who are each other's biggest supporter. I would highly recommend getting Long Shot and the other books in the Lauderdale Knights series by Kat Mizera. I received an ARC copy of this book, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

What started as a light holiday romance between pro hockey player, Jace Sutherland and pro surfer, Tawny Hayes, soon turns much hotter and way more complicated!
Having made it into the majors for the playoffs, Jace gets invited to Hawaii with three of the Knights, for a vacation, when their season ends. When Jace spots a beautiful woman on a surfboard, he is mesmerized. And after being bitten by a shark and having this beautiful woman save him, she disappears, leaving behind a bracelet which Jace uses to reach out and make contact with his good Samaritan.
Tawny Hayes is a pro surfer who is used to being recognized because of her beauty and skill at her sport. Two years ago, she lost the person she thought was her soul mate, until she met Jace and realized how it felt to be loved. But with Tawny's surfing schedule and Jace's hockey one, will they be able to see each other when they live so far apart? Will they be able to overcome the obstacles thrown up and the miscommunication when neither want to say how they feel and want from this relationship? Great story, well written with plenty of heat.

Two years ago, she lost the person she thought was her soul mate, until she met Jace and realized how it felt to be loved. From the moment they met a bond is formed and what starts off as friendship soon turns into so much more. Lets just say this book starts one of my favorite ways. We as a reader get to see what it is like for players when they are on vacation and kicking back during the off season. Jace is enjoying is time in paradise with three of his new teammates after being called up during the playoffs. While in paradise Jace spots a beautiful women surfing. When Jace is bitten by a shark she is there to save him but when he goes to look for her she has all but disappeared. Like in Cinderella though there is something left behind that helps Jace get in contact with his rescuer. When they finally meet there is so much that seems to be working against them. Tawny is fighting her feelings because she thought she had already lost her soul mate 2 years ago but now these feelings she is having are different. Add in the chaos of her surfing schedule and his hockey schedule they are never going to see one another. It is so great to watch these two grow together and navigate being a couple when so much seems to be against them.

Long Shot is such a fantastic read. I loved everything about this one. The Lauderdale Knights are on summer break and it's time for these hockey men to have a little fun. Vacation never looked so good and this team bonding is just fabulous between the guys. Jace is getting to know the guys and questioning if he is worthy to remain on the team. As the new guy you feel for him. He never expected anything to come out of this ocean paradise. Fear and love what else can happen. Tawny is a fantastic pro surfer who is looking at taking the number one spot. She never saw Jace coming through all her grief she has been under. I love how supportive Jace is of Tawny with everything. This couple is so hot they burn up the pages. You are going to love how they save each other in several ways. I fell hard of Jace and Tawny. I could not put this on down and cannot wait for more Lauderdale Knights to come.

Who are Jace, Tammy, Tawny, Kaela, Pete, Connor and Eddie? How do they all know or meet one another? Who is Scarlett? What is the deal between Tawny and Scarlett? Why is Eddie such a jerk? I really did not like him. His attitude really ticked me off! What does Tobias say to Tawny about Eddie's attitude that made me pause and go, "hmm?" He was acting like a jealous, entitled jerk and I didn't much like it. Apparently neither did Tawny. I really liked Tobias as much as I really disliked Eddie. Tobias was fun. Who is he and what does he do for a living? What do each of these folks do for a living? What happens to Jace when he goes with Tawny to a job she is doing? What is the job? With Jace getting drug into things, what does that mean at the next destination he goes to? Why does he struggle so much with the water? I have to say, this story started out with a very intense incident, then got seriously steamy. I enjoyed the read so much. I look forward to the next story in the series!

Long Shot is the latest addition to Kat Mizera's Lauderdale Knights series, and it is such a great continuation to the fantastic series. I have loved the previous books, Slap Shot and Big Shot, but I think this one is the best of the series. I loved the main characters, Jace and Tawny, as they are not your typical couple, each trying to prove themselves in their careers and seeing where the other can fit into their lives together. No matter the twists and turns they encounter in their journey together as well as the obstacles they endure, one thing is constant, their connection is magnetic and simply leaps off the page. The storyline is everything that you come to expecting from this amazing author: fun-filled, interwoven with the right amount of sweet, sassy, and sexy.

I loved Tawny and Jace!
Jace Sutherland and several of his teammates decided to celebrate the end of the season by taking a vacation in Hawaii. Jace was using the time to watch the surfers but things went wrong when he was bit by a shark while floating in the water and a tawny-haired surfer named Tammy rescued him. What Jace didn’t know that Tammy was actually pro-surfer and swimsuit model Tawny Hayes.
I loved the connection between Jace and Tawny where they are both professional athletes but they have to figure out if they could actually date with their schedules being so different. In the end falling in love is worth it no matter what you do in life!

This is the 3rd book in this incredible series, and this is Jace and Tawny’s story. Jace is a hockey player who has worked hard to earn his place in the team, and he and three teammates travel to Hawaii to commiserate at losing the Stanley Cup. Tawny is a professional surfer who is focused at becoming one of the top surfers in the world. While Jace is out swimming he comes face to face with a tiger shark, and Tawny comes to his rescue when she spots what is happening. These two spend some time together and have fun, but what was intended to become a holiday romance, turns into so much more. How will this effect their careers? This is a well written sweet story, which is emotional, and with friendships, humor, witty banter, and love, which leads to an entertaining and poignant love story. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

GREAT STORY!
I’ve read the other books in this series and Kat Mizera continues to deliver.
Loved the story and the characters.
Tawny and Jace are both athletes but in different stages of their careers and lives. Tawny has known sadness and is still trying to reach for that number one rating in surfing while Jace is still trying to find his permanent spot on the hockey team, especially given he was brought up from the minors the season before.
When they meet under a harrowing situation, both are drawn to each other and decide to have fun.
Enter a business manager/agent who seems a bit unscrupulous and you have the setting for this fun filled story.
Kat writes a fun and emotional story that weaves into a HEA.
A must read for fans of Kat and the series. This book can be read as a stand alone.

Delectably dashing! With the third book in her Lauderdale Knights hockey series Kat Mizera is turning up the heat with an amazingly fresh meet cute, and I was hooked from that point forward. The characters are both intriguing with connectible personalities and have quite the connection throughout the story that keeps you turning page after page in delight. I'm looking forward to more to come in the series.
Jace is a down-to-earth type of guy that is easy to like and seems to go with the flow as he chases his dreams.
Tawny is a unique character that really had me hooked me.
I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone that enjoys a hockey romance with a likable group of players that razz each other all the time but are steadfast in their friendship and dedication to the loves of their lives as each one settles down and falls in love.

It’s getting hard to come up with new reasons for loving theses books because everyone has been amazing & I feel like I’m just repeating what I wrote last time. Author Kat Mizera has a wonderful way of telling her stories. She grabs your interest & your heart right from the start & doesn’t let go as she weaves the story of her current couple. Jace & Tawny were no different as we watched the two fall hard & fast for each other. I definitely enjoyed this book as it brought us to a sport I never knew much about & she made it very interesting with her knowledge of it. I loved how a hockey player & surfer were brought together by a terrifying shark encounter & fell in love in Hawaii. Theirs was a fun, sweet, definitely steamy relationship that kept the pages turning. Definitely enjoyed it & recommend to read.

Jace is at the point in his life we have to decide if he’s going to make it to the NHL or waste away in the minors. Vacationing in Hawaii with hopefully teammates brings him more than he ever thought. Surfer Tawny is almost at the height of her career, but she just needs a little push to make her life perfect. Jace and Tawny first meet is one I have never seen before. The two relationship shy friendship quickly devolved into more. Can this summer sport and winter sport couple meet in the middle? Mizera dives into the psyche of the athlete make your root for both to find the mental health and the height of their sport / dream. All the amazing world locales made me want to travel more. Can't wait for more in the Lauderdale Knights series.

I liked this story because the first 50% is character development including hot times together. Jace and Tawny are so good together. They even communicate. How can an elite surfer who travels the globe manage a relationship with a hockey player?
I have read several of her books and, for some reason, she can't find another phrase but 'nether regions' to refer to 'lady parts'. This is my last book by this author though because they are All The Same. Same plot, same tropes - always miscommunication, too much narration although this book balanced it with more dialogue. The same conflict and 3rd act breakup around 77% with resolution around 87%. Always a too short epilogue.
She brings nothing new, different or special about her stories.

Hockey, surfing, healing, emotions, humor and spice!!!! This book is in a hockey series. However it is the off season and most of the actual sports is surfing. It was really fun to see that as a focus. The author really had me on suspense for a bit on if we would get a HEA, but we did so no worries!
This is the third book in the series but can be read as a complete stand alone, everything you need to know will be given to you. However, many of the secondary characters we have met before. But you do not need to read those to enjoy this book.
We also get a peek at the next book and I can’t wait! All those boys need a HEA!!!

Long Shot, book three in the Lauderdale Knights series is a fun, sweet romance story between Jace Sutherland and Tawny Hayes that focuses more on the surfing world since they meet on Jace’s off season. They are both professional athletes, Jace is striving to get his first permanent NHL spot with Lauderdale Knights and Tawny a professional surfer is finally reaching the number one spot in the world. These two have very demanding jobs and finding a way to balance that out is definitely a challenge but more importantly, they have a connection, chemistry and love.
