Brotherhood Protectors World

Catching Lana: An Alaska Blizzard Companion Novella

Rate this book
U.S. Marine Corps Major Mark Garrison turns heads when he's not trying to be invisible. He's the whole package and he's looking to try something new when he heads off to Alaska to meet with billionaire Gage Caldwell. Things look even better when the sexy redhead he's been lusting after practically falls into his lap.

At six-foot-one, Lana Callahan has always felt awkward around men. Her job as a sports and entertainment publicist puts her around celebrities on a regular basis, but she shies away from hot guys. A new assignment from her boss takes her to Alaska to tame the reputation of a professional hockey player, and she finds herself face-to-face with the one hottie she can’t resist.

Lana’s wary of getting too close to the gorgeous Marine she’s been fantasizing about for two years, but he isn’t giving up. Just as things heat up between them, her client’s past catches up to them, putting Lana in the crosshairs. Mark’s first assignment for Mr. Caldwell could very well be his last, and this time Lana might slip through his fingers for good.

*Author's This title was previously released as part of Elle James's Brotherhood Protectors world. It has been revised and re-edited to reflect a new locale within the Alaska Blizzard series, but the basic story is the same.

Short, sweet and oh so good….

I love how this author brings drama, heat and a unique spin to romance every time out. Whether hunky hockey players or alpha protectors, you know there will be a strong woman ready to take him in on and Mark and Lana’s story gave me exactly that!

Mark was at a turning point in his life and so was Lana. After a few years of admiring each other from afar, it seemed like fate finally aligned the planets to allow them a chance at love… Lana was a competent professional while showing her awkward side to hilarious effect. Mark turned her head and almost her ankles as she tripped and blushed her way around him.

“You know I’ll undoubtedly burn the place down if you get me flustered.”

Mark was (maybe) soon to be ex-military, weighing his career options while seizing the opportunity to get close to Lana. A lot closer.

It was heated and full of dramatic twists that had me reading much too quick. When danger and humour joined the mix I knew I was reading another great story by one of my favourite authors. A quick, delicious romance that has me looking for more in this Kindle World series…

Lana Callahan, entertainment publicist extraordinaire and closet clumsy girl. Bring over 6 feet tall, she’s always felt very awkward around men. The more flustered she becomes, the more her inner klutz takes over. Therefore, she tends to shy away from men unless she’s working with them. When she finds herself face to face with her crush at the airport and on her flight, she’s finds herself wishing for more than a casual encounter but afraid he would never go for her because she is taller than him.

Mark Garrison has been a Marine his entire adulthood, but he’s ready for a new adventure. When he’s given the chance to interview for a personal security company in Montana, he takes leave to spend a few weeks getting to know the Brotherhood Protectors and the town he might find himself living in. When he literally runs into the gorgeous and sexy red head he’s had his eye on for two years he figures that a change of job and scenery is really just what he needs . . .especially if it involves Lana Callahan.

Mark wants it all . . . the job and the girl. Lana’s not quite sure of life in a quiet town, however, or of Mark’s real intentions. When the client Lana is working with finds himself in danger, Mark’s visit to check out a possible new job turns into a full fledged mission to keep both his new quiet and the woman he’s falling for safe, all while convincing Lana to give him and love a chance.

Catching Lana was a really cute crossover into Elle James’s Brotherhood Protectors world. I loved how awkward and clumsy Lana was. It made for some really funny moments as well as gave her a really human side. Mark is pure alpha, but, he’s not willing to force a relationship that Lana doesn’t want. He was fabulous at building up her self esteem and making her feel comfortable around him which I really liked about his character. While persistent, he wasn’t pushy with her.

I enjoyed the plot which had the couple wanting to be together and explore the possibility of a relationship, but not really knowing how that would work since they were both at a crossroads professionally and personally when opportunity strikes. There’s plenty of romance and some fun and steamy scenes as well as a fantastic bit of suspense with Lana being mistakenly caught in the cross hairs of her client’s trouble. It made a quick to read fast paced romantic suspense that I really enjoyed. 4 stars.

Kat Mizera is a new author find for me. I have just recently been introduced to her and have read all her books, for she is that good. Catching Lana is her newest book in the Brotherhood Protectors series. Lana Callahan is a super entertainment publicist and in the closet clumsy girl. She is over 6 ft tall , very curvy and when it comes to men, she gets clumsy around them. Mark is at a crossroads in his life-stay in the Marines or get out and find something else to do for a career. Mark and Lana, they have met previously over the past 2yrs, and have feelings for one another. Neither one of them have told the other how they feel. There is such intense chemistry between them. The reasons for why they never got together during the 2 years were varied- and they never did anything about it. Now they are both in the same place and have the time to feel each other out and decide if they should take a risk on one another. Oh there is such chemistry and steam between Lana and Mark. There is the love story between Lana and Mark plus intrigue with the story to keep you hooked from start to finish. Is there or isn’t there an HEA. Only way to find out is to read this fantastic latest by Ms. Mizera.

This book was a total instant love story, which I read pretty quickly. While the main characters do have past interaction, I wish this book had been longer just to see more character development. The description of the book and the characters in the book describe Lana as being shy, but I would just called her plain awkward. Someone so shy wouldn't easily reveal as much information as she does. With that said, I found her awkwardness and bluntness extremely refreshing. Lana is a pleasant departure from the typical female lead, completely imperfect. This is one of the first characters I've ever read that I could identify with personality wise (I am that awkward, no filter person, especially around men). Mark is relentless in his pursuit of Lana, but still maintains sweet and gentleman like qualities, just an all around good guy. You'll encounter characters from the Sidewinder Series (who I'm vaguely familiar with) and characters from the Brotherhood Protectors (who I'm not familiar with, but will be looking into).
This story surely would have been a five star review had I gotten the character development.

3.5 stars (3 for the first part, 4 for the ending)

I usually love Ms Mizera's work but this, whilst still good, didn't quite hit the mark at first for me. I struggled to get into the book for a little while, the flow didn't feel as natural. I'm pretty certain this is because I am just not a fan of novella's. Once we really got into the romantic suspense part of the book, I did feel as though the story improved.

That said, the book is well written, the story flows smoothly and it is always easy to know whose POV you are reading. It has an action packed plot and the pace is good, holding your attention. Whilst the book includes characters from both the Brotherhood Protectors AND The Sidewinders series' it doesn't need any knowledge of those worlds and can be read as a standalone romance.

Catching Lana by Kat Mizera was a well written novella, and the story flowed smoothly. One thing I love about a Kat Mizera is she knows how to write the insta-love stories I LOVE!!!

Lana and Mark do have a small past. But nothing romantic between them until they meet up face to face again. Lana is an awkward kinda gal. And by her own words very shy. I found her character endearing. Mark is relentless in his pursuit of Lana, but in the best possible way. He's a sexy hot alpha for sure.

While I enjoyed this quick, fast paced novella, I really needed more to love this story. Not my favorite Kat Mizera book, but she's still a fantastic author and I'll continue to read her words.

*I voluntarily read an advance copy from the author. This is my honest review.*

Kat Mizera has a romantic soul with an adventurous spirit. These qualities shine through in her writing. Catching Lana is more of a romance than a suspense, but the element of intrigue is there. Mark and Lana have a Love Affair vibe to their romance. The first time didn't catch, but a chance encounter years later is the charm. He's a man of the world. She's a city girl. How ironic that a bit of country life gives them their second chance. Until a surprise development may put a permanent end to their chance at happily ever after. Even in the darkest moments, Mizera finds a way to make the heart rejoice and deliver a happy ending.

We've heard about this one in a broad stroke with Aaron's book, but seeing what really happened is crazy! Aaron really dodge a bullet here with his ex. Lana was so awkward, I found it hard to not like her. I was glad that Mark pursued her and let her know he found her attractive. While it almost went off the rails at the end, they found a way to make it work for them both.

5 Star Review Catching Lana by Kat Mizera

Although not a long read Kat Mizera has told a story that will draw you in and keep you invested from the first chapter.

This is Lana Callahan and U.S. Marine Corps Major Mark Garrison’s story. It was wonderful being in Alaska and seeing some familiar sidewinder faces. Both Lana and Mark are at a crossroads in their lives and it appears that fate has put them together.

Having met before, it seems that the time has never been right to act on the attraction they both feel sizzling between them, that is until now. Catching Lana is a passionate, steamy story with characters who are easy to like and whose story you cannot help but become hooked on.

When danger rears it’s head and Lana is put in the firing line, it is up to Mark to do what he does best and protect her.

Do they dare take a chance and in doing so find love and happiness? One click and find out.

Lana is a publicist who is on her way from NY to Montana to assist her client. She is confident when it comes to her job but when it comes men she is attracted to reverts to a school girl complete with blushing, feeling clumsy and self confidence issues due to her six foot curvy frame. When she sees Mark, the guy she has been fighting her attraction to for a while, she is part happy and part nervous as he is going to Montana as well.

Mark is at a crossroads in his life as he must decide whether to stay with the Marines or become a member of the Brotherhood Protectors based in Montana. He has been attracted to Lana for the last couple of years and he is going to use this opportunity to try and get the girl but will he be able to keep her safe?

I enjoyed the characters as Lana is torn between what she wants out of her life and what she believes is best for Mark while Mark knows there is a compromise to be had and he pulling out all the stops to ensure that Lana knows that as well.

I didn’t know how to feel about this book in the beginning. I thought it was going to be a book where one person would push the other away and they’d be wasting time until 75% of the book and I would lose the romance.
BUT that’s not how this was. I was wrong. The romance was there, it was blooming before my eyes and although Lana wasn’t confident in herself, Mark was a magnet for her that she just couldn’t fight.
I was happy to see their friendship start and turn into the beautiful romance every girl (and some men) want, a best friend, a partner, a lover, all wrapped into one person.
The adventure in this book really pulled everything together and although I was able to figure out some things, there were twists I DIDN’T see coming.
In all I definitely recommend this novella Kindle World for everyone to give a shot.
Military man meets clumsy-shy media relations girl? A hell-yes in my book!

I really enjoyed this book, I was sucked in from the first page and spat out at the end. The story follows Mark and Lana, they have met previously over the past 2yrs, They both lusted after each other but never did anything about it, now they are both in the same place with there jobs and things heat up quickly. Though at heart, this is a romance there is some mystery that keeps you turning the pages and on the edge of your seat, some of the twists and turns you don’t see coming. There are some cross over characters from the authors other series, these helped to enhance the story. I was totally invested in Mark and Lana as a couple and was rooting for them to get their happy ever after. This is another great read from this author, put some time aside as once you start this book you won’t want to stop!

I just loved Lana and Marks characters, Lana becomes a total uncoordinated dork around Mark who she has had the hots for since first meeting him and due to her reaction around him avoids him, While Mark is such a gentleman while still being a bit of an Alpha male who also has had the hots for Lana since meeting her. This is insta love but not which I liked as they have liked each other for so long but thought neither were worthy of the other and even we they meet up on the same flight they still have doubts and wrestle with their feelings while having to deal with a stressful situation going on around them and not knowing what they want for their careers. This book definitely has you guessing through out on pretty much everything and will definitely be reading more in the Brotherhood Protector series.

Mark is just joining the Brotherhood Protectors, and he has a bit of history with Lana. Lana doesn’t quite know what to do with her attraction to Mark, but there’s no denying their chemistry. Soon she needs protection that only Mark can deliver, and their romance takes off amid the suspense.

I love stories in rural settings like Montana, and I love strong alpha protector heroes who move heaven and earth to protect the ones they love. This was a beautifully written love story with plenty of steam and a satisfying HEA. This author really knows how to develop the emotional connection between the characters, building a terrific story and fictional environment along the way. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

This short story is awesome! Mark Garrison is a marine which is thinking into changing careers and he runs into his Two year old crush Lana Callihan when he's on his way to Montana for an interview wth the Brotherhood protectors. Lana has also a crush on the handsome Mark but she's afraid he's not interested because of Lana being taller and clumsy. Mark is barely convincing Lana that there might be something between them when the past of one of her clients gets her in trouble. Mark is out to do anything to save her. This is short but awesome story! I like how Kat can always add drama to her love stories! This is a must read book!

This is Mark and Lana’s journey. Mark is a retired Marine Corps Major, who is working security for Gage, the owner of the Alaska Blizzard hockey team. Lana is a sports and entertainment publicist, whose new assignment has her heading to Alaska to do some damage control on the reputation of a professional hockey player. This is a well written quick read, which is sweet, and with emotions, suspense, twists, intrigue, danger, suspense, romance, and love, which leads to a steamy and addictive page turner.

So funny thing happens while reading this one... I was sooo exhausted and was at the climax of the book and had three separate dreams about how this book was going to turn out, our minds can spin crazy webs sometimes. It shows you how an exceptional writer can effect you profoundly and I got a great ending with this crossover story from the Sidewinders/Brotherhood Protectors series.

This was an enjoyable read that I read in one sitting. It may be a quick read, but it packs a punch. The story between Mark and Lana had me captured me right from the beginning. I just loved Lana. I adored her clumsy awkward side and I just love of Mark embraces it. Mark has his work cut for hi when it comes to Lana because she can't believe a guy like him would want her. Along the way this book delivers on some suspense because someone is after Lana's client. All the characters were great and add so much to the book. I highly recommend this one!

Mark is at loose ends. Stay in the Marines or find a job that will fulfill him. Lana is a tall, curvy and slightly clumsy around guys. He’s watched her over the years and she felt like she wouldn’t find someone like him. After both ended up in the same place, her for work and him for discovery, they feel sparks fly. Between watching out for a client, getting through self doubt and nearly freezing to death, can they find their way to each other?

I really liked this book. I thought the story was great and there was conflict and heartache and love.

The writing was real, the feelings were real and they were real people with normal lives.

I can’t wait to read more by Kat Mizera she has wonderful ideas and I like her writing style—nothing crazy just normal and real.

A book well written!!!!!

This book is a pretty good read. Lana is very tall for a woman and always feels clumsy and shy around good looking men. She is sweet and I really liked her. Mark is sexy and so attracted for Lana. He has wanted her for two years. I enjoyed this entire story. The mystery of who was after Aaron could have been drug out just a little bit but still a really good book. I feel like I need to go back and read all the Sidewinders series now. I think I am now hooked on May Mizera's writing.

This book is a short, sweet love story with some drama thrown in. Lana and Mark have been attracted to each other for years, but each have avoided the other person for their own reasons. Lana thinks Mark is way out of her league, and Mark thinks that it’s unfair to have a relationship with someone with his military career and hardships that come along with it. When they both end up in the same town, they have some serious chemistry. I really liked this story and I’d recommend this book.

Catching Lana is an insta love sort of book. Mark and Lana met two years ago but it isn’t until they meet at the airport on their wY to Montana that things heat up. There are several characters from The Brotherhood Protector World and Aaron from Kat Mizera’s Sidewinders Series. It’s a short and simple read.
