Lies can be painful. The truth can be fatal. Amy I always knew my coworker was dangerous; some dark corner of my mind whispered it to me. But I ignored my instincts until it was too late, and now my life has turned upside down. I've uncovered his greatest secrets; his truth should spell my doom. Yet he's the only one who can save me—even though I don’t know his real name. Davit Family is everything. My loyalty is unquestionable. So is my possessive need to claim the woman who keeps complicating my life. She’s uncovered my deception. And put herself in harm’s way. I will protect her everyone, even from myself. But can I protect her from the truth?
The fact that she was being bullied and shamed, more so by her father and then Keenan, then the do not eat salt, eat kale and he was enjoying a full seafood meal, ai, I don't even care for the story past that
Calling her "father" sir. And the constant put downs.
Books where the main focus is the FMC either struggling with weight/food and most especially in terms of what people/friends/family are maliciously saying to her and she basically takes it, coz she's a "good girl" who doesn't cause conflict and after all, she is fine with her weight, GTFOH!
The book didn’t catch my attention like Ms Blue’s other books. At times it felt like 2 different people were writing. For a good portion of the book, the narrator felt detached. By the end of the book, I still don’t know what is Amethyst ethnicity which was frustrating, nor do I know her age. Her attitude felt very juvenile at times. For instance, I could understand a young girl being desperate for her father’s attention, for someone in her 30’s it would make less sense. For a smart person, it didn’t make sense that she wasn’t more interested in the terms of her trust. After her father’s dismissal of the situation with Josh/Davit, it would have made sense for her to question wether or not her dad was involved instead of wallowing in self pity. Her lack of accountability was also irritating. Yes David put her in a terrible position, however he also saved her life. Therefore for her to basically attack him and apologize to Keenan was ridiculous. She wanted Davit to clean up for her but still bury her head in the sand, and resent him for forcing her to confront the situation.
Honestly, i want to really commend the overall effort to try to write a very realistic mafia thriller book. Finally, for once we have a mafia man that actually acts rather realistically towards attraction, and the rather truthful crisis of identity they face when in love.
However, my rave for it stops there. This book could honestly use a few more rounds of editing and it's crazy how almost no character growth was witnessed in the whole book. Almost nothing nudged between both of them and at many times the decision making and thought process did not make any sense for the character.
Also, on a personal note, I could do with a lot more spice in the smut scenes haha
A little bit disappointing. Apart from the fact that the blurb was a sham, it was similar but different from what was in the book. I don't know if anyone else saw it but I assumed they were "living together" not best of friends and some other things that were different from what I read from the extract Secondly, as much as I was enjoying the MFC knowing she would develop a backbone and stand up to her father later on, she acts as a fool when faced with danger. I can imagine he was someone you know, your friend, but she asked, "What's that supposed to mean?" way too much during the encounter, even when it was clear you were being threatened. I feel that question was to count lines because it didn't make sense, and I started to get annoyed and bored.
But I will try to push through to see how it goes. I'll come back to edit my review and stars
Exactly what ethnicity is Eve? Not that it really matters, but I'd like to know. For some reason it seems in this book it doesn't want to be clarified. The title is a true testament. Every character in this book has told plenty but Eve is the only one who acts like she hasn't
I really enjoy books but Kaye Blue but this was the best one yet. She very much developed Davit's character and delved into what he was thinking and feeling as well. She normally focuses primarily on the female characters and this added a deeper dimension to her writing. Loved it. Just hate that I have to wait a year for the sequel.
This book really had some good parts to it, but it dragged on so much; the repetitiveness of it was really over whelming. I would love to read the second book in the series, as I know sometimes first books are a writers worst and they get better. Will definitely need to think about it.
I enjoyed all the intrigue and suspense. It kept me riveted and the wheels turning as to what was going to happen next. This is my kind of story. On to book two. Love it!
This book was fantastic! I couldn't put it down. It's been while since a book grab md and held me hostage like thid. Davif and Amethyst were fire. Can't wait to read part 2
DNF. I wanted to like this book. I really did. It features a plus-size female lead and has scenes where she’s being bullied by her father. But it was just too bland and I actually picked the 2nd book without even finishing the first.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
The book was good really like the character but was wanting for her to rebel and say enough is enough and was missing a bit of character development but overall I liked it
This was good! I can’t wait to see how Davit will find Amy. I do feel sorry for her though her father is a complete jerk and to find out his betrayal is another low blow!
This book was too fast and also too slow? It feels like it should have been longer - I didn't get a full sense of why the characters were falling in love in the first place. It needed more banter or something.
the book is highkey wattpad level with a lot of spelling mistakes. I can't believe i stayed up till 3 am just for it to end on a cliffhanger. I didn't really like it all that much but i gotta read the next one just to see what happened. it also has pregnancy trope and idk how i feel about that tbh.
