I liked this book. Marshal needed to be taken down a peg or two and I was glad to see that happen. He isn't nearly as bad as his older brother so that's good. Olivia was awesome, she always stood her ground no matter what. She didn't let herself be bullied by anyone and she showed everyone why she deserved to be captain. I hate how the whole West family runs the town, everything is beneath them, people like that deserve nothing. just have to say, I know Clayton has a book but I swear to God, I don't know how he can redeem himself after all the sh*t he has done. I hate him so much, I really do

I liked the tension between Marshal and Olivia. I liked how although they both wanted the same position in the firehouse, they could respect that the other knew more about some things then they did even if it took a little while. I liked how it started off as an enemy to more story and I thought it was well done.

I received a complimentary book from publishers, publicists, and or authors. A review was not required and all opinions and ideas expressed are my own.

I enjoyed this story with all the characters within. The main characters were Marshal West and Olivia Martel.

Marshal West has decided to become a firefighter and his family is not happy with him. All his life he be wanting to be a firefighter. So when the mayor of the town tells him that they are starting a new firefighting division. And also tells him that if he does good he could become the new firefighter captain some day. But when the new firefighter chief brings his daughter Marshal is scare that she will take the promised captain job.

Olivia Martel has came to this small town with her father. He is the new firefighter chief.  Olivia has been a firefighter for awhile so when her father ask for her help with the new firefighter division that he is run. She happy to help. But she not happy when one of the firefighters start a tug a war with her over the position for captain.

This was a fun story to read. It had action and drama throughout. It had a few giggles within.

I saw this and decided to try it. This is my honest unbiased opinions.

'You deserve everything'

Olivia has never fitted in, she isn't girly, she is a woman in a male dominated industry and she has confidence in her ability....she knows she is one on the best. But that frequently leaves her on the outside, the odd one out.
Marshall has tried to follow the 'family career' and fulfil expectations, but it isn't him, he dreams of being a firefighter....which makes him an outsider in his own family.
Together they finally, after a very explosive start, find acceptance. They realise that they are far better as team, both in work and out.
However, I can honestly say whilst I understand most large familys have bickering and disagreements, the West's take this to the extreme, especially Clayton who I really, really dislike. He is arrogant, rude, inappropriate and dismissive....not great for a police officer! I am not sure I want him to have a book as I wouldn't wish him on any woman!
I read this on Kindle Unlimited.

Marshall West had a great career as a cop but with his father as police chief and his older brother on the force, he felt like a change was necessary. His uncle, the mayor, decides it is time for Faith Valley to start it's own Fire Department and his uncle promises he can be the new captain. When Marshall shows up for training, there is a transplant from Boston, Mr. Martel who was appointed chief and his daughter, Olivia is the captain. After all the razzing his family has given him for "jumping ship", he gets angry and does everything in his power to make it so that the other recruits, all from the Volunteer Fire Department that he has worked with for the past ten years, want to follow him and undermine Olivia's authority. This is a good story but I found some of the characters were really juvenile.

We are back in Faith Valley and with the West family. This is an interesting family to me because they argue a lot and are sometimes mean to each other but somehow, they make things work! It's not something I've seen much in books. There is usually more "love shown"! Marshal has gone against the "family business" of law enforcement and switched careers to become a firefighter. It was always his dream, but his family does not support him! When he discovers his promised position has been given to the chief's daughter, he really isn't happy! Olivia gets a lot of disrespect. Not only is she a female in the fire house but she's from out of state and got the position that was supposed to go to Marshal West. I enjoyed their rivalry and how they ended up perfect for each other!

Marshal leaves the family business of being a police officer to become a firefighter. His family is constantly letting him know of their disapproval of this. To make it worse, his new fire captain is a female. Olivia is used to being the only female in a male dominated field but for some reason, Marshal is her Achilles heel. She can’t help from letting him get under her skin.
As Marshal deals with the challenges of his family, and trying to adjust to being told what to do by a female-someone who has the job he was promised, he is also trying to deal with the growing attraction he has to Olivia.
I love the faith valley series and this is another great first responder read!

Sparking A Romance

Faith Valley has a new fire department and Marshall West has left his position on the police force to become a firefighter much to his family’s dismay. His Uncle, the Mayor, has promised he would be the Captain of the department until the new Chief retired then move to that position. On his first day at work he finds out the new Chief has other plans. The daughter of the Chief is named the Captain of the fire academy. The rivalry between the two of them escalates until they both decide working together is better than fighting each other. What happens when her past follows her from Boston?

Sparking a Romance

When Marshal hears there's to be an actual fire house and paid positions he is ecstatic. Then when the new fire chief arrives with his daughter the captain he is very angry about losing a job he was promised.
His brother Noah is finding his HEA on a permanent basis and both brothers are getting close to their estranged brother.
THEN we have brother Clayton! He pretty much spoiled everything that is good, doesn't act like a brother but like a nemesis to all the brothers and some of the cousins. I could not understand all the hatefulness within his family and his parents not saying a word, to the extent of taking away from the story.

First Responders if Faith Valley, book 2

I was quite disappointed with this book. It certainly doesn’t make we want to read the rest of the series. First off, Marshall was basically a brat. He lacked maturity and insightfulness not only within his professional life but in his family relationships. Secondly these are grown men and they act like high schoolers. Where were the parents? The relstionship between the West and the 2 women was not clear. Why did the oldest brother act like a mean spirited jerk? He gave no thought to anyone else’s feelings. He was in fact a bully. All this lead up to an unsatisfactory read.

A firefighter with family problems.
Jenna Brandt book is very interesting and very realistic. I know a family of doctors when their youngest son decided he was going to become lawyer you would have thought the world had ended. I felt for Marshall he’s family were real jerks. Oh wait that is not the only challenge he will have to face. I liked the characters for the most part but Marshall’s family not so much. This was a good faith based story that I highly recommend. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

Sparking A Romance is a fascinating, faith based, heartwarming romance. What a collection of huge egos! How dare Marshal want a career other than police officer! Then the new fire chief arrives - and brings his daughter. Her dad gives Olivia the position Marshal had been promised. So Marshal has issues with family and issues at work. There is a lot more going on, but I have said more than enough. This well written book kept me well entertained from start to finish. Ms. Brandt understands the lives of first responders!

This series is very special and as this small town comes alive with the people there, it builds a picture that you can keep returning and visiting!

Marshall comes into conflict with his family, when he decides to work as a firefighter instead of being a cop. It is an ongoing battle but he is determined.

But when the new fire chief and his beautiful daughter come to town, it may become even harder to get his job.

A wonderful story full of suspense, a little angst and a journey to love!

This is my voluntary review of a copy I received from the author.
Good story!

The main characters got off on the wrong foot and remained adversarial even as they fell in love — one of my favorite tropes!
Plus there is family drama to go along with the new work situation and that's before you add in actual firefighting!

How do you leave your job as a policeman – family tradition – and become a fireman and please everyone? Definite family problems! Everyone must remain a policeman!!! Not. Do you stay because the family wants you to be a policeman or do you follow what your heart tells you to do?
Great addition to the series!

The start of the department

This story brings the conflict the West family to full battle. Wanting to be a fireman instead of staying on the PD brings more
harrassment to Marshall and seeking family
is another conflict. Drama is primary in this story and it keeps one interested and suspended on what will happen next. Grab this book and find out where it leads!

I was totally pulling for Marshall at the end of the first chapter. And for Olivia by the end of the second. Both were facing similar issues but the competition between them made it impossible to see how much they actually had in common. When Marshall finally realizes that envy is his problem it seems like a real change for him. This journey for each of them is complicated. I liked the way they evolved. I really enjoyed reading this book!

I get excited when I get notice that a new Jenna Brandt book is out. I have been impatiently waiting for this one. Having a firefighter in my family, I’m quite familiar with the rivalry between firefighters and cops (both are valuable, dangerous and necessary) and as the oldest of 4, I know sibling rivalry, but the West family takes it too extremes. There are times when I would love to pick some of them (Clayton) up by their ears and shake them. I love the sparks flying between Marshall and Olivia. I can’t wait for the next installment of this family saga/drama.
