Will has spent his entire life waiting. He waits for a place to call home. He waits for people to call family. He waits so that maybe one day he can feel found.
When all of his problems are solved in Neverland, a magical island where everyone lives forever, he begins to wonder if maybe he has finally found peace, but he quickly discovers he may be surrounded by those he cannot trust. Who will he believe? Is this really family or another lie? If Will wants to find what he's always been looking for, he must first find a way through the deceptions. He must learn to change for the better, to trust, to grow up, and to finally stop waiting.
Lost Boy was a short, yet pleasant read. I thoroughly enjoyed the narration of the main character, Will. He was relatable, funny and unlike some chosen one characters - well balanced when it comes to "powers" His truama/ backstory was intense, but dealt with well - especially the one outburst!
Some of my other favorites include: Wesley, Annalise, and Captain. I enjoyed Wesley's both childish and mature personality. Along with the metaphor of him acting like two seperate people with a flip of a switch. Captain had some fantastic one liners, and several sides of him that came out towards the end of the book. Though in some scenes, a few of the personalities/ diolgue came across as a bit flat.
The storyline itself was pretty fast paced, and had had me theorizing a good bit with some enchanting plot twists. But, some parts felt a tad rushed, or you wished it had more time to develope.
The prose / description set you right in the story and really caried the magical atmosphere of Neverland, aswell as the characters emotions, but it left you wanting more after getting a teaser of how good and immersive Kassidy's prose could be. Like having one bite of a cake, it leaves you wanting to eat the whole thing.
Over all I enjoyed this lovely little novel, and the story itself made up for any critiques I had. I'm looking forward to the sequel!

Woah! That definitely didn't go the way I thought it was going to go! These tortured characters must have been so fun to write 🤣
I understand Will way more than anyone should, but you don't leave behind the good people that you have EVER. You either all leave together or you all suffer together 🤷🏼♀️
Then ending of the book with Hook caught me VERY offguard!!! 🤯🤯🤯
This book took so many turns and I never knew what was going to happen next!
This was so good! Can't wait to see where Kassidy Mae Claren's writing goes next!
The characters are amazing and I love them. Well, most of them…I was highly annoyed at some (iykyk). Captain is my favorite - poor traumatized child 😢 Also Brown Bear, for obvious reasons. Also, Will is a great POV character, and I love his development - the way he learns to deal with his struggles, and recognize his flaws. Like you do not understand how much I love it okay 🥹
I really liked the plot; the twists were great - although I did feel like some of them could have used more foreshadowing. Also, some parts felt rushed, especially at the end. One other thing that bothered me somewhat in this book is that there are a lot of grammatical and spelling mistakes.
Something I loved: the themes woven throughout. Home, family, belonging, and more; plus, the themes are added in really well, not just dumped in haphazardly. Kind of on that note, there are so many fantastic lines that I HAD to highlight.
This book is totally clean, also, which I love of course. All in all: I absolutely loved reading Lost Boy; it’s a fantastic Peter Pan retelling, and I can’t wait for the sequel to be published!
This book was really good. I'm not going to rate it because I'm not sure how to rate it yet, but it was good.
The storyline was fantastic, such a spin on Neverland, Peter Pan, and the Lost Boys! This book is a novella, but I'm convinced that with a bit more development, this would be an amazing debut novel.
The development is one of my critiques. This book was very rushed, and there was barely any development at all. I would have loved to see more development of Captain, Wesley, Pan, and Annalise (amazing characters but needed more development). Another issue was the actual formatting of the book, but I won't gripe too much about that since it's kind of a me thing honestly. This book had so much potential; I want more development!!!
But seriously, give this book a read. If you get past the formatting and development issues, it's such an amazing story.
I loved the spin the author took with the Peter Pan story! The twist with Wendy was especially interesting and the story kept me on my toes. Only big issue was a lot of poor grammar and punctuation. Some scenes also seemed a bit rushed/not as in depth as they could’ve been. Overall though, good book!
Kass is an amazing writer!! I loved the Neverland spin and I love the characters!!! She does a great job of writing sass, inspiration, fantastic plots, and deep topics! She has a lot of potential!!
