I walked down the aisle and said “I do” to the wrong man.
Unfortunately, it took me eight years to figure it out.
It took me even longer to realize who was in front of me the entire time.
You’d think that being a romance author would have helped me to see the signs that I chose wrong the first time and I would have been able to write my own happily-ever-after so easily.
But like so many of the books I read and write, it took something dramatic to happen before I opened my eyes and saw Brock as the man he’s been to me my entire life.
I get a second chance to do this love thing right and I won’t mess it up again.

She asked me to walk her down the aisle but how could I do that when I knew the end result would be her saying “I do” to the wrong man? Or, at least, the man who wasn’t… me.
It didn’t take some big epiphany for me to suddenly realize I had feelings for her.
They were just… there. Always.
I missed my chance because I was a young coward.
But that was then. I’m no longer a scared teenager. I’m a man who knows who and what I want.
I’m not going to make the same mistake again or ignore the second chance I’ve been given.
Naomi’s about to see who held my heart all these years.
Because the pain of watching her build a life with another man was almost more than I could handle.
But loving her and having the chance to show her true love? Well, it’s indescribable.

4 stars!

This is such a sweet read! A best-friends-to-lovers small town romance, it’s funny, sweet, sexy and fun, and I loved it.

I fell in love with the prequel novella to this series, Serendipity, which is the second-chance-at-love story of newly divorced Leah, and family friend, Stone. In that novella we also meet Leah’s teenage children, well now they’re all grown up and getting stories of their own, starting with Leah’s youngest son, Brock, and his childhood best friend and soulmate, Naomi.

Brock’s heart broke the day he watched his best friend, and the love of his life, Naomi, walk down the aisle to marry her high school boyfriend. He knew she was marrying the wrong guy, but he never took his shot when he could have, and now he doesn’t want to ruin her happiness. Over the years, the once-close friends drifted apart – mostly because of Naomi’s husband’s insecurities – but when Naomi finally divorces her cheating husband and wakes up to how much happier life is without him, her old best friend is there for her just like he always was.

“Doesn’t matter that you and I haven’t been as close these last few years as we used to be … You’re still my girl.”

Brock knows that this is his chance to finally win the woman of his dreams. He’s not an idiot, and he knows he needs to bide his time, and he’s prepared to wait as long as it takes, but he has no intention of letting Naomi slip away again.

“Hey.” I give her hand a squeeze.
“I’m having a hard time grasping this, I guess.”
“Grasp onto it and hold it tight, sweetheart. I’m not going anywhere.”

This is such a sweet romance. Brock and Naomi are so meant to be – he knows it, his family knows it, the whole damn town knows it, and now that he’s back in her life, Naomi is starting to realise it too. The love story unfolds easily and naturally, and I was so damn excited to see Brock finally get his chance to tell Naomi how he feels, watch them completely open their hearts to each other, and see him finally get the woman he has always wanted. There’s no messing about, no game playing, they’re open and honest, they dive right in, and the shift from friends to more is absolutely effortless.

“It wasn’t our time then. Now it’s our time, if you’ll have me. I’m all in.”

Sweet, sexy and playful, these two are so freaking gorgeous together, I just loved them.

I lean over and kiss him soundly on the lips. “Take me to bed or lose me forever, Brock.”
“Did you just
Top Gun me?”
“Damn skippy.”
“You’re the best,” he says, grinning.

There’s also a really well written emotional element to their story. Naomi’s marriage was emotionally abusive – though she didn’t realise it at the time, just little things here and there which escalated and she didn’t even notice it. It’s a beautiful journey watching her find her way back to herself and find the life and love that she deserves.

And Brock… swoon! Wow, what a man. He’s a good guy with a huge heart, funny, kind and caring, and he holds nothing back from Naomi, and I just adored him.

“I won’t apologize for loving you. Now or then or forever.”

Alongside Brock and Naomi’s romance, we get to meet his family and key people in the town that will most likely feature in the series. Van Wyk writes fantastic family dynamics, and I loved getting to know Brock’s siblings more. His relationship with his brothers is awesome, his older sister, who is also great friends with Naomi, is great, and his young nephew is a highly entertaining scene stealer. They’re a great bunch, and I can’t wait for them to get their own stories.

This is such a cute read. Another fantastic small-town romance from Jennifer Van Wyk that stole my heart, and I loved it!

4 stars.

Indescribable is a sweet, small town romance. It is the start of a new Lake Family Series and I’m already hooked.

Brock Lake has been Naomi’s best friend all their lives but after she married, Naomi’s husband kept them apart. Brock stepped back but their connection was too strong to sever completely.

“I digest his words, ruminating on ‘you were mine to protect’, letting it settle deep in my soul and feeling the warmth those simple five words brings me.”

When her marriage ends, Brock (and their families) hope for a second chance at more than just friendship.

“I want us to take our time getting there because what we have is too important to sprint through and getting there is half the fun.”
She’s quiet for a moment before she answers breathlessly, “Good answer.”

The story is a slow burn, light drama, low angst and thoroughly enjoyable romance. It is full of great characters that I can’t wait to read more about.

Indescribable by Jennifer Van Wyk is a sweet and charming small-town friends to lovers second chance at love romance. The hardest day for Brock was watching his best friend and the woman he loved walking down the aisle to another man. But he loves her and wants her to be happy, even if it breaks him. Because that is the kind of man he is. He was so caring and protective and I just loved him. He would be whatever Naomi needed. Naomi is likeable, vulnerable and was hurting after the end of her marriage. And she was a romance writer. Got to love that! She gave her marriage her all, but it was not enough. Now she is trying to find her new normal and suddenly she is seeing Brock in new ways.

Their journey was emotional, touching, and full of so many feels. It was a bit of a slow burn, even if they have known each other for a long time. I loved their family and friends so much. This was a group of characters who cared about each other and they totally drew me in and that ending! This is a standalone, however, I am loving what I think is coming!

Happy reading!

This was a great balance between steamy, sweet moments and a chunk of drama. I loved the way this story developed from start through to finish and found that I wasn’t keen on putting this one down for too long!

Brock and Naomi were clearly perfect for one another, even if it did take awhile for them to figure it out! I have fallen in love with this world and am so excited for the rest of the Lake Family stories.

So Brock is man with a ton of patience. He fell in love as a teenager and as fast as I he realized that Naomi is walking down the aisle. He then is pushed aside, not out of anything but love does he distance himself so that her marriage can be successful. Until it isn't. Naomi's life slowly began to go downhill when she didn't even know it. She is cheated on. Her life a sham, she decides to take it back. She and Brock finally get their life back together. The friendship since forever is finally back on track. This friendship is finally in a spot that both of their hearts can grown. They were sweet together and I loved watching them move from friends to more. I also enjoyed this family, the siblings and Cody were funny and loyal. I cannot wait for the next.

Small towns, friends and family…. Love it all by Jennifer Van Wyk! Brock and Naomi are a great story. Childhood best friends. But she’s been married to someone else and she’s making changes in her life and putting herself first with a divorce. She’s got a great support system and Brock steps back in to be there for her.
As they open up to each other, as Naomi shares her life with Brock, he’s there for her. I can’t wait for more of the Lake family! Love the support and love they give each other!!

I can’t get enough of Ms. Van Wyk’s books. Her characters are so full of heart. Her towns are a place I’d love to live in. And again, her characters are someone I know I could be friends with. Brock and Naomi, just gah! I was torn up in the prologue thinking ummmm. And I was not disappointed! I can’t wait for more from this amazing family!! Ms. Van Wyk’s words are completely indescribable!

Smalltown romance at its best

There's something about Jennifer Van Wyk's smalltown romances, her words pull me in from the outset, her characters are endearing and realistic, and her storylines are never over dramatic. After having read the prequel, Serendipity, I couldn't wait to read more about the amazing Lake family. INDESCRIBABLE was perfect, the story of childhood friends, Brock Lake and Naomi Newman, who are separated by marriage and then find their way back to each other and happiness. I loved everything about their story, it was sweet, sexy, and thoroughly enjoyable.

"After all these years of unrequited love on my part, I have hope that we have a future that's based on more than friendship."

Brock was devastated the day he watched his childhood friend, Naomi, marry another man. He loved her, but he was man enough to step aside and allow the love of his life have her happiness. Years passed and their friendship was no longer what it once was, but Naomi's life has altered, now she is divorced, and Brock is determined to win the only woman he has ever loved. Even though her life didn't turn out like she thought, Naomi has decided to make the most of her new single life. When she reconnects with Brock she realizes that she gave her heart to the wrong man.

"This crush I have on Brock is turning serious fast and it makes me both excited and nervous. It shouldn't happen this quickly, right?"

The friendship between Brock and Naomi has always been a sweet one, yet the steps they take into romance are even sweeter. Although Brock is ready to jump in and get things started with Naomi, he takes his time, allowing her to find her feet fast. So, he waits, finding the right time and the right place to make his move. I adored this couple, there were no secrets, no playing games, just simple open honesty, just like when they were kids. I laughed at how their family and friends, in fact the whole town, always knew that Brock and Naomi were destined to be together. It was wonderful watching them rediscovering the closeness they once shared and then adding some sexiness and heat to spice it all up. I enjoyed the fun of their first 'official' date together ... Target has never been so much fun. Comfort, support, understanding, they shared them all, two friends destined to be together.

"Hearing her tell me she loves me and allowing me to love her in return? It's indescribable."

INDESCRIBABLE
was smalltown romance at its best. It had two main characters that I simply couldn't help falling in love with. There was plenty of laughter, fun, a touch of drama, and heaps of spice and heat. The Lake family, Brock's siblings, are simply hilarious, especially his nephew Cody ... that boy had no filter. The love and respect each person has for each other is open and obvious. Of course, there has to be the one person who wants to spoil everything, and that person would be Wyatt ... what a douchebag!

Brock has been in love with Naomi since they were kids. When she walked down the aisle with another man, Brock loved her enough to take a step back and love her from afar. But when Naomi discovers that her husband has been cheating on her, she decides enough is enough, files for divorce and vows to move on with her life. Now it is Naomi's time to live her life and that includes letting her friend Brock back into it. Brock knows that he missed his chance once, and he will not let that happen again. He also knows that Naomi is recently single so he has to tread carefully and take things slow. What Brock doesn't realize is that Naomi's feelings towards him are changing, she wants someone who looks at her with love and longing. Exactly the way Brock looks at her. Brock and Naomi both know that once they cross that line from friends to lovers, there is no way to go back. Brock knows this is what he's always wanted and will do everything to prove to Naomi that he is the one.
This is small town romance at its best. Wonderful characters, handsome alphas who will go to any lengths to keep their women safe but be vulnerable and sexy at the same time, and hovering family members who just love to interfere. Can't wait for the next book.

I am so in love with this series and this family! I am a sucker for a small town romance and I knew from the prequel that this was gonna be a good series, but Brock and Naomi blew my expectations out of the water. Brock has loved Naomi for as long as he can remember, but 8 years ago he stood aside and watch his best friend marry another man. The wrong man! Now Naomi is coming to terms with being single and trying to understand these feelings she has for Brock. Has she always felt like this and not realized it, does he feel the same, is it too soon to move on? Brock realizes this is his chance and he isn't gonna let it go but he also knows he needs to move at her pace. All the while her ex is causing drama for himself and Naomi. I loved their friendship and how seamlessly they fell back into old routines, it just showed you how solid their foundation was to begin with. Brock continues to show Naomi that he has been there all along and that what they have is the real deal, soul shattering, forever kinda love.

I also wanted to note that Jennifer created such a beautiful small town feel and a great cast of characters in this book. I felt like I could picture myself walking down the street to the diner and having pie and ice cream for dessert.

All in all I loved their story, it was sweet small town romance at its finest and I am excited for the next book in the series.

Indescribable
Naomi has been through a lot, and finally decides to officially call it quits with her loser of a husband. She is a strong, smart and beautiful women and she is no longer going to put up with his garbage.
Brock has been Naomi’s best friend since they were little kids. He knew in his teenage years that he was in love with her, but didn’t have the courage to tell her and had to watch her marry another man.
I love Indescribable!! Naomi and Brock are wonderful characters, actually all of them except Wyatt. I love the small town setting. I love that they were best friends who got a second chance at love. This story was so sweet, of course there was some drama mixed in and some romance and sexiness. It had everything you could possibly want in a book! I loved readying it and I highly recommend Indescribable. I can’t wait to see if there is more to come from the lovable group and small town!

What a great start to a new series by Van Wyk. This small town - friends to lovers is one that will give you all the unrequited feels.

Indescribable is a slow-burn that started off kind of slow for me, but it definitely picked up. Now don’t get me wrong, even though it was a slow start to the finish line, it did indeed pack a punch to my heart. These characters showcase some of the best traits that truly made them the best characters, and that made for an even better - one of a kind love story. A love story that felt authentic.

Indescribable is nothing but love and patience and Van Wyk showcased that through this entire storyline and it’s characters; even the secondary characters. I am so grateful to this author for the maturity that this book held. What I mean when I say that is, there was no pettiness from the main characters. It was all done with heart. In my opinion, Indescribable is heart happy, and heart happy means it’s a dang good book. I look forward to the rest of this series.

"After all these years of unrequited love, it's finally our time."

Holy smokes.....this book was over entirely too soon! The heartache that Brock goes through in the very beginning as Naomi is getting married had me totally vested in this story. Being so in love with her that to keep from hurting her he stays sitting and does not stop her...he is the epitome of a gentleman!

Poor Naomi spending the last eight years married to who she thought she was meant to be with only to feel the ultimate betrayal by him. Soon, she is back in the comforting arms of her best friend, Brock. The bond between Naomi and Brock is so incredibly strong....heck the bond Naomi has with everyone in his family.....but him especially. Now let's talk that slow burn.....oh my heavens the build up between these two about had me in tears...lol! Another example of Brock and his good guy ways....he didn't want to rush Naomi.

Jennifer Van Wyk has a beautiful way of telling a love story between two people. She also writes her secondary characters in a way that her readers will like them just as much. So many people introduced in this book with such promising stories to be told throughout this series....I cannot wait.

I found that I really appreciated how Naomi’s situation was handled. She didn’t go low. She didn’t play the same dirty games Wyatt did. And she certainly didn’t kick him while he was down or keep screaming lies about him. If only he could’ve said the same. That said, I think her grace in dealing with rekindling a friendship she’d let fall to keep the peace while also dealing with an angry, unhinged ex made her utterly likable in every way.

I also liked that Brock didn’t dawdle when it came time to step back into the spotlight for Naomi. He loved her for his entire life and was willing to go at whatever pace she needed. And he made a point to verify that her head and heart were in the same state of readiness before taking any next steps. A guy who’s willing to do that when he knows inside that he wants to charge full speed ahead into forever is a winner every time.

This book brought some good times, some humor, and some sadness with it. It also sets us up for what is likely heading our way soon. So get ready for friends, family, some drama, love, and a few surprises along the way with this family!

I loved this story so so much! This family is everything, the characters weave their way into your heart! This story was about Brock and Naomi, and Jennifer doesn't disappoint delivering their story!
5 Lake family stars for this one!
Brock and Naomi had been the best of friends, where ever you saw one the other wasn't too far behind. Everyone could tell Brock wanted more, but he was too afraid to ruin the friendship that they had. When senior year hits, she starts dating Wyatt, and the next thing he knows they are getting married.
Naomi had a crush on Brock growing up, but like him never wanted to ruin their friendship. She moved on and married Wyatt, and aside from some issues she had been happy, but when Wyatt's antics start up again, she makes the decision to divorce him.
Read along as these two reconnect after time apart, you'll love their story! Grab this one asap!

The plot was a slow, steady build-up. It held my interest easily and kept me eagerly turning the pages for more of Brock and Naomi. I loved their date using the cootie catcher!

I think I fell in love with every single character in this book (and there were a lot)! Every character except Wyatt, that is. The book revolved not just around Naomi and Brock but also around their families. Almost the entire book was just so sweet and heartwarming.

This is book one in the Lake Family series, and I can’t wait for more. I really hope to see more of Paisley in book two, but I suspect book two will focus on Hadley.

Emotional, touching, heartwarming, charming and sweet second chance romance. I loved how Brock and Naomi came together. They were best friends for years, but Brock has always loved her, he just didn't have the courage to tell her so he stepped aside when she ended up marrying another man. Years later when her marriage falls apart, Brock is there to pick up the pieces, caring for her and loving her hard. When Naomi realises her feelings for Brock are more intense than what she had with her husband Wyatt she decides to take the leap and hope that Brock us there to catch her. When they finally consumate their feelings it is off the charts smokin hot.....

I am so excited for the next one.

Indescribable was a small town friends to lovers story. It was such a great read. Brock and Naomi have been friends for years. Brock secretly had feelings for Naomi but never said anything and his heart broke when she married someone else. Eight years later, that marriage is over and Naomi realizes that she married the wrong man. I loved Brock he was such a great guy. He was pretty swoony. I loved Naomi as well. She was strong, fierce and sassy! The chemistry and connection Brock and Naomi had was off the charts! Loved them together. I loved all of the secondary characters as well! Definitely recommend this.

Oh where do I begin with this one! The whole best friends to lovers story is just everything but I am living for this one. Van Wyk’s words just bleed on the pages and you get wrapped up in the absolute love that Brock has for Naomi but he never stopped her from following her heart even if it meant getting destroyed by her jerkface ex. But now the stars are aligned and it is his time to be the man she really needed in her life. With some light drama and a few interesting twists, this story is a roller coaster ride that has me in love with this world that has been created. I need more. I am adoring the Lake family and I am dying to get my hands on more, especially with how the book ended with the lead up to the next sibling!

Loved it as I always love this author. Can’t wait to get more of this family…. Brock was an amazing guy his love for Naomi is amazing…. There is something that’s bothering me tho Cody his apparent age isn’t how he acts or is treated… He’s 12 but treated and acts maybe 8 at most. Or maybe my kids were just really mature at that age? It just kinda threw me for a loop…

I’m a sucker for a great small town romance, especially when it’s set around an awesome close family. The Lake family is a family you so want to be a part of.

Brock and Naomi were so great together and I loved seeing them get there friendship back and then Naomi realising there’s always been something more. I loved that Brock always knew how he felt but was willing to always put her happiness/needs first. Definitely swoon worthy book boyfriend. I also loved how close the lake siblings are but also how close they all were to Naomi as well, they were already her family too.

Can’t wait for Cash and Hadley’s story next.

Love love love Naomi & Brock!! Their story starts out a little rough, what with Naomi walking down the aisle to another man & all! But the pacing is actually perfect!

Once she shakes off that whole thing, & Brock gets his head in the game, they rediscover their friendship and have such a sweet courtship! There's some drama & suspense, but not within their relationship, and I greatly enjoyed every aspect of the story! I'm also VERY happy this is a family series & we get more more more! 🎉🎊🎉🎊🎊🎉

Also, Cody is a riot, and I'm looking forward to more of his cameos in future books!!

Whooowee… I felt it took a minute to get this story going but once it does, we’ll plan to be sucked it. It is a wonderful small town romance with a foundation of a full cast of characters.

Brock and Naomi have a friends to lovers tale to tell. It is a little non traditional. It takes eight years and one of the characters to marry and divorce before true feelings come to light. Eek.

This story offers up a plethora of side characters to keep it interesting and have you guessing about future reads. I can’t wait for all Brock’s siblings to find their HEA (rubbing hands together in anticipation).

This book gets a little angsty at one point but truthfully it is mostly a sweet feel good love story. Happy Reading Everyone! XOXO

4.5 Stars of Greatness!!!
These two have been best friends since they were in diapers. Too bad her husband comes between. Well, I should say first her walking down the aisle to her future husband comes between them. Brock’s heart was torn out of his chest watching her marry another man.
Poor Brock.
I really felt for him.
That could not have been easy.
Years later, Naomi is divorced and ready to start something with Brock. Yay!!! Finally!!!
I absolutely loved their first date. Wish my husband would do something like that… Maybe we can try the Target part of it.
