I picked this up because of the premise and I thought I would loved this, or at least enjoy my experience reading this. First two-thirds is fine but the more I'm trying to reach the end, the more I'm starting to hate. I even tried skimming through the last pages because I just want to get this over with.
Right at the beginning, I noticed how info dump-y it is. The narration is very long winded that sometimes, multiple phrases of information were dumped and interspersed in the middle of dialogues and the conversations ended up not flowing well because of it. It took me out of the story a lot of times. It kept going until the end. I don't even get bored reading a slow, mundane slice of life, but this one bored me out.
I never minded schemes in my story. Clever, intense schemes that kept me on the edge of my seat will always draw me in. But the schemes here are too much. Schemes are deliberately done left and right not for the sake of the plot itself but just for awaiting face-slapping moments. I personally think some are just unnecessary. Those schemes just left me so tired, and not even in a good way.
There are also tropes included that I don't really enjoy in the first place, but I would have not minded if it's done well. But unfortunately, I think it's there just for the dramatic effect that only frustrates me. If I didn't at least enjoy the first part a little bit despite the tedious narration, I would have given this a lower rating.
