This book, to be honest, I don’t know how to even relay to a potential reader how deep this book is. I’ll just make a quick list because I RARELY write reviews, but need to say something about this epic tale I’ve been immersed in over the last week. 1. Dark, dark erotica with SOOO much steam, there..that’s #1. 2. This book spans multiple families and generations and leaves NO unanswered questions, every twist and turn is well planned and thought out. Oh and the twists and turns. Omg, they draw you in and NEVER let go. I’m sure I’ll never be the same. 3. This should be number 1, but let’s face it, sex sales and if you’re reading this book, you like to read about sex…but I digress, the WRITER of this book is a freaking genius. For a writer to conjure up this dark, twisted story that spans soooo many years and make ALLLL of these character’s effed up lives intermingle AND make sense AND be so dang addictive to read, said writer MUST be a genius. The character development, the twists, turns, plots, heart breaks, redemptions..ohh the heart breaks..OHHHH the redemptions. It was just like magic with words! Especially the burn…not too slow, like the literary genius who wrote this book knew the exact moment each corner should be turned. No mind numbing wait…and any waits there were, were much needed and timed perfectly. 4. If you need ANY trigger warnings, then just skip it altogether. It’s all here, the darkest, most depraved shit on the planet is all right here…and I was here for every single word; my moral compass imploded and I threw it out in the trash without a second thought. This book is so raw and real, and I loved every moment. I did put it down a few times due to my heart breaking, but immediately picked it back up; like a gory train wreck I simply could not look away from. If you’re looking for some vanilla HEA with the girl next door or slap and tickle, just forget it; personally I don’t want the frilly kink, and thank god it isn’t this book. This MASTERPIECE, is a soul shattering walk on the dark side.
Ok, I usually love this author. And I don't really have many triggers, but this one just isn't sitting right for me.
A 17 year old gets kidnapped by her father's best friend (and their neighbor). He "trains" her for 2 weeks to sell her into sex slavery. Let's not start with the cucumber or the blow job in the car on the night of the sale. Then she gets sold to a crazy germaphobe?? Just not realistic, couldn't get into ANY of the characters. Tried to get through it at least, but had to stop at 80%, and that was really pushing it.
I know a lot of people really liked this series. I didn't. That is just my opinion. You might like it.
This is the box set and has multi generational stories and multiple characters stories told. Not for the faint of heart, but it still kept me reading late into the night. I really liked reading how the characters developed over time, and what happened in their lives. It gives a much fuller picture of their lives and how people change and maybe don't change over time. Seeing how the families dealt with traumas and each other was very interesting.
Where to start. I feel like I’ve been on a roller coaster. One of the most effed up roller coasters and I would go again and again I loved this so much. Talk about a twisted family tree. I loved all the characters even when I was hating some of them. It was a beautiful multi love story to read full of so many different feels. I’m sad it had to end.
DNF - it’s not even dubious consent, it’s not even cnc…it’s literal r*pe. I can’t even get to the supposed good part of the novel with the germaphobe and the love because I had to read the disgusting Gabe scenes. It’s not consent if there is coercion, it’s not consent if someone’s body reacts a certain way…I’m surprised people actually enjoyed this.
This book was absolutely wild. Even though some of the characters are completely irredeemable (at least in my eyes) and incredibly disturbed, I could not - for the LIFE of me - stop reading until the very end. I wouldn’t say I enjoyed or even LIKED some of the plots/actions of the characters, but the way they were all tied together made for a very interesting read.
this was so crazy i don’t even know where to begin. dark, capt!ve, cartels, step siblings, forbidden, moms capt0r. betrayal! it really has it all! so many main characters too by the end, but like who made it out 👀👀 but it was a ride with them all!
I did not want this book to end. It was dark, gritty, emotional, had me on my tippy toes, they absolute hell and love that he put her thru. Then the way it ended. Omg. I loved both characters and this is a favorite of mine.
I loved this series in its entirety. Some of the books are better than others but as a complete series, it is one of my favorites. Check triggers, there are a lot of dark and disturbing topics.
I wanted to love this series so much but I DNF!! It started out fine and towards the end of the first book, I was already annoyed and pissed off by the plot and main characters 😭
