Umiłowanie Jezusa Chrystusa w życiu codziennym

Rate this book

W 1762 roku został biskupem diecezji Sant’ Agata dei Goti. Papież Pius IX ogłosił go doktorem Kościoła, a Pius XII patronem spowiedników i moralistów.

Saint Alfonso María de Liguori, CSsR (1696–1787), was an Italian Catholic bishop, spiritual writer, composer, musician, artist, poet, lawyer, scholastic philosopher, and theologian.

He founded the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer (the Redemptorists). In 1762 he was appointed Bishop of Sant'Agata dei Goti. A prolific writer, he published nine editions of his "Moral Theology" in his lifetime, in addition to other devotional and ascetic works and letters. Among his best known works are "The Glories of Mary" and "The Way of the Cross", the latter still used in parishes during Lenten devotions.

He was canonized in 1839 by Pope Gregory XVI and proclaimed a Doctor of the Church by Pope Pius IX in 1871. One of the most widely read Catholic authors, he is the patron saint of confessors.

Quem ama a Jesus, necessariamente ama o sofrimento.

St Alphonsus is quickly becoming my favourite writer saint. His writing is straight forward but also beautiful. This book is a bit tougher than his shorter treatises on prayer but it still balances the high demands of living a holy life with the immense love and forgiveness Christ offers us sinners.

Initially this took me months to read, but now I want to reread it yearly. So many questions about what my relationship with Christ should look like in specifics and not just generalities have been answered. I can’t wait to read other works by St. Alphonsus Liguori.

A great book that gives one a simplistic basic knowledge of asectical living and the perfect love of Jesus Christ. St. Alphonsus, as always, is a very understandable concise writer, and his book is good for anyone who needs convincing that Christ is our all and deserves our all.

The old language and old fashioned view of the world made it hard to connect with it sometimes.

Just amazing. Like a complete synthesis of the life following Christ. Such a gem, really deserves more praise by Catholics I think.

This book messed me up. It took me forever to read because I was so convicted I had to stop after every section and work through it.
