Between being forced to attend prom and barely escaping death at the hands of the enigmatic NIDUS, half-spider Spinneretta didn't think things could get much worse. That was before she opened a portal to a desolate alien world. Now, with occultist Mark at her side, she'll have to find a way home while keeping her sanity intact.
With Mark's plan to destroy the spider cult in ruins, detective extraordinaire Annika Crane is left to pick up the pieces and protect the rest of the Warren brood. But as a power vacuum ignites conflict within the ranks of NIDUS, a perfect storm of violence and dark secrets threatens to envelop not just the Warren brood, but Grantwood and beyond.
With the clutches of the spider cult tightening around them, the Warrens will need help from an old friend to evade capture. But the new cult master may prove to be more than anyone bargained for.
A programmer, writer, and spider enthusiast. Bartholomew writes dark, character-driven urban fantasy with a dash of YA energy and a pinch of cosmic horror. When not writing about blood and spiders, he can be found running RPG campaigns and watching the horizon for the Mothman.
This sequel to The Spider Children is as thrilling and chilling as the first book! Spins and Mark are trapped on a terrifying, alien world where they must fight to stay alive. Meanwhile, back home, Spins's siblings are doing their best to stay ahead of NIDUS, the shadowy organization that's after them. Thankfully, they have the help of a clever (and crackshot) detective named Annika. But even her abilities might not be enough to keep them safe...
Once again, Lander has delivered a rich tale full of intrigue, magic, and the stuff of nightmares. If you enjoy paranormal and occult horror, this series is for you.
I liked this book! It had a very strong start and kept me reading. You get more insights and backstory on many parts of the story (I'm trying to avoid spoilers in the review), which is very interesting and exciting. A few parts felt like they could have been a bit shorter, but other than that I enjoyed reading this one more than the first book and would definitely recommend it.
I just finished the first two books of the trilogy and I loved them! This is not something I would usually read but the title caught my eye and I liked the premise of the story. It has humor, horror, funny moments and a little romance. I'm going to start on book 3 right now.
