I was so excited to read this book -- secret lovers who are reunited by fate to get their second chance and the H is a MMA fighter? I couldn't wait. Buuuuuuttt the H has sex with MULTIPLE women before the heroine comes back into his life, so for me it made the fact that he supposedly loved her this entire time and was longing for her and hurting so much without her just so freaking fake. I get that they weren't actually together, but I don't want to hear about a hero in a book have orgies and can't remember how many women he hooked up with the night before.😒 I want him to be ALL about the h, thats it. Ugh.
Also I'm glad she had sex while they were separated too, but of course it wasn't enjoyable. Because OF COURSE. But do you think he was having mediocre orgasms with all the women he slept with? I think not. *huge eye roll.*
**not trying to be rude to the author, this just didn't do it for me.
**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions **
Craving the Fight is a 2nd generation book and I am totally loving these lately! We have a famous fighter and a model who loved and lost each other when they were young. There is a lot of hurt feelings and emotions to unpack for sure!
Emma gets a threatening note that has her scared. She grew up in the MMA though, so she isn't just a pretty face (she is a model). She has a lot of family that is always there for her, and of course there is Carter. I don't think they really ever stopped pining for one another, but they were young and Emma took off to start her modeling career.
There is plenty of action in the story! Honestly, I flew through this book because it is kind of non-stop! I really enjoyed it even though I do not remember the parents story at all! But, according to goodreads, I read it!

Carter followed in his dad's footsteps and currently reigns as king of the MMA. From the outside, he seems to have it all. But that was a facade Years ago Carter made a choice he believed was for the best. Turns out it wasn't Now he has a chance to make things right Emma is back home and she needs his help And nothing will stop him from making her his
You will want to strap in for this one - Heavy on the action and suspense I was constantly battling my inner child not to peek ahead and make sure everyone survived Carter and Emma fall back into old patterns and feelings almost immediately Some things just are meant to be I do wish certain situations (?) had a bit more details to their resolution but that could just be me wanting to hang out with the gang a bit longer :)
This was my first book by this author and I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I’m glad there was a family tree in the very beginning. For someone like me that did not read the original series it helps out A LOT! This can be read without having read the original series, it does give you rid bits of what happened previously. It still mad me want to go back and read the original series!
It starts out with an action packed MMA fight! The story line/plot was thrilling and interesting. I loved the closeness of all the siblings and cousins! The family/friendship support was AMAZING and heart warming to say the least!
The Mafia added a lot of drama to the plot!
I loved the second chance romance for Carter and Emma, I loved them !
If you like action packed, drama, sworn worthy men and second chance romance then this book is definitely for you!
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

This is the story of Carter and Emma. Carter is a MMA fighter and has a past with Emma who is a model and now back in the MMA world. Carter has his dream of being the MMA champion again and he has everything he has ever wanted. But it does feel like something is missing. and that thing is the one who got away. Emma. Emma as I said has a really successful career in modeling and has traveled all over the world but is back home now and so is Carter. She is very familiar with the MMA world thanks to her father but she also knows how to fight too. One day though she gets a note in her mailbox that scares her and is the main reason she came back home. She does not want her parents or uncle to know about the note and is positive she can handle whatever is going on and whoever sent the note on her own. This book is so good and starts off with a bang and doesn't slow down until you are finished. I loved Carter who by the way has a dirty mouth that I couldn't get enough of. Loves his family and friend and has a secret with Emma that no one but them knows. They are just magic together. Emma is the love of his life and also the one who got away and I loved her just as much. She is tough and strong and really it just all makes for a great book.
Mary – ☆☆☆☆☆ This one started out with a bang – or a win – and didn't stop there. Carter is the MMA champion again and loving life, the only thing missing is the one that got away. Now he is back home and so is she.
While Emma has a career of her own as a model, the world of MMA is familiar to her and she knows how to fight.
When Emma gets a note in her mailbox, it scares her back home. Back to the circle of family, cousins, friends, and lost love. She doesn't want her parents or uncle to know what is going on and thinks they can handle whatever and whoever sent the note.
This story is filled with suspense, drama, family, love, pain, and a feeling that family is there when you need them. This one starts out with a bang and doesn't let go until the end. I can't wait for the next one.
Shannan – ☆☆☆☆ CRAVING THE FIGHT is the first book in the Gloves Off – Next Generation series. It is a spin-off from the author's Gloves Off series. It can be read as a standalone without reading the prior series, but it does make more sense if you have read the Gloves Off series first.
When Emma gets a threatening letter in the mail referencing her parents’ past, she knows she needs to go home and let her brothers know. It seems as if that past is coming for revenge. Emma wants to keep the letter from her parents and figure it out on her own. She tries to avoid Carter, her ex, at all costs. They were torn apart by fame but never lost the feelings they had for one another. When Carter finds out about the letter, he will do whatever he needs to to protect Emma. Carter Reynolds was born to be a fighter. It's in his blood, his dad was a famous MMA fighter. It's all he knows how to do and if that means fighting in the underground to protect Emma, that's what he does.
Carter and Emma's chemistry is explosive and undeniable. CRAVING THE FIGHT is full of suspense. I loved getting to see past characters and learning who their children are. The friendship and protective nature of the group is unmatched.
I'm excited and can't wait to see where this series goes considering Gloves Off was one of my favorite MMA series!
Mary Jo – ☆☆☆☆ It was a good book full of non-stop action and a second-chance romance.
Emma moved to New York City to model and to get away from Carter Reynolds. She knew that if she stayed in California, she would have given in and done anything to be with Carter. Carter knew that Emma was the girl for him from the time he was in his teens but knew that he had to let her go, to fly, and one day, hopefully, they would reconnect.
What he didn't expect was a nightmare from the past would haunt them both and take them down a terrible path.
The only thing that they have going for them is the fact that they love each other and they can only hope that it's enough to save their souls.

CRAVING THE FIGHT is the first instalment in LP Dover’s contemporary adult GLOVES OFF-NEXT GENERATION erotic, MMA romance series-a spin off from the author’s GLOVES OFF series focusing on the ‘next generation’ -the children- of the characters introduced in the original series. This is UFC champion Carter Reynolds, son of Matt Reynolds, and model Emma Jameson’s, daughter of Ryley Jameson story line.
WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Carter and Emma) CRAVING THE FIGHT follows the rekindling romance and relationship between UFC champion Carter Reynolds, and model Emma Jameson. Emma Jameson’s family has a dark past, and the past is about to come full circle when Emma receives a special delivery threatening her family and the people she loves. Leaving New York to return to her hometown in California, Emma reaches out to her brothers and sisters while struggling to stay away from Carter Reynolds, the man she once loved. In an effort to protect her parents, Emma is about to enter the proverbial lion’s den, a lion that is taking aim at our story line hero. What ensues is the rebuilding romance and relationship between Carter and Emma, and the potential fall-out as the past demands revenge, using the next generation in his quest for power.
The relationship between Carter and Emma is one of second chances; a rebuilding romance between two people torn apart by fame and life. Emma was desperate to avoid the man she once loved but at the same time craved the thrill of the what was. Carter vows to protect Emma the only way he knows how, and the vow is about to place them in the middle of a feud where not everyone survives. The $ex scenes are intimate and provocative.
There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including most of the Reynolds and Jameson siblings, as well as the return of Matt Reynolds, Tyler Rushing and his son Kane, and Emma’s sister Reagan. The requisite evil has many faces including the involvement of the Russian mob.
CRAVING THE FIGHT is a story of family and second chances; history and vengeance; secrets and lies, acceptance and love. The premise is captivating and engaging; the romance is seductive and steamy; the characters are determined, desperate and impassioned. CRAVING THE FIGHT ends on a bit of a cliff hanger-you have been warned.
Craving the Fight by L.P. Dover is a nuclear hot romantic suspense set in the glamorous and dangerous world of MMA fighting. Carter and Emma are explosive together.
Carter Reynolds is unbeaten in world championships for many years like his legendary father. His friend and ex lover Emma is the one who got away. She is now a successful model living in New York. When she received a mysterious threatening letter related to their parents' dark secrets, she run to her friends and family. Carter will protect her at any cost and never let her go.
So this is a second generation book. The younger generation of a group of legendary MMA fighters are carrying their legacy. MMA world has a dark dangerous illegal side too and their fathers/mothers were forced to join till the leader was caught and sent to jail. Now the past is seeking vengeance. I spent a lot of time with the action and suspense and not enough with romance. The sexy parts are here but I expected an epic second chance. Emma and Carter have long history and apparently the separation was painful and heartbreaking. But immediately after their first reunion, it all got dissolved. That was fast and kind of abrupt. Carter is the alpha- possessive and protective and dedicated. Emma is sweet but strong. I didn't feel the emotional connection to them. The action was great. And my most favourite part is the beautiful friendship of the group.
L.P. Dover is one of my favorite authors so there's never going to be a book that she writes that I won't read at the end of the day. To say I was excited for Craving the Fight was an understatement, and the majority of the book was FANTASTIC, but there was an issue that I just couldn't get past for whatever reason. Carter Reynolds is MMA royalty, and is a champion himself so he sure doesn't mind all the fame, money, & women in his life. Emma Jameson also is in that circle but her circumstances are a bit different when it comes to her father. She's a model these days, AND she was the girl who got away. She hightails it back home after receiving a threat to get some help from her family & friends since it had to do with the sins of the past. Of course Carter is right there for her once he learns about what is going on, so will they have a second shot at a future together?! Look, Carter may not have gotten over Emma, but his actions while they were apart didn't support that in my eyes. I'm not saying he needed to be a saint, but he was over the top with those activities but that's just me. Now, because of the suspense of the story which is always my jam, and the fact that I did end up loving Carter is why I only took a half star away. So yeah, I'm ready for more of this series, and HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND! {4.5 STARS}
What an awesome book, we loved it from cover to cover. The story drew you right in, and it was non-stop suspense and intrigue to the very end.
The characters were awesome, loved them. I loved that fact this story had a different take on the underworld where the mafia are mixed up with other dangerous men who lurk in the cesspits of hell and there is no room for the innocent, only the depraved.
Emma and Carter seemed to be complete opposites, they share a past and their chemistry explosive but, we could not see them as a couple but, after seeing them together we could not be more wrong.
What is with these sinners who think their children should pay for their parents sins? Emma is going to pay, but, what will be the ultimate price?
Loved Carter and Emma as a couple, loved the fact when in danger she chose to go to the ones she loved. The story gets more complicated by the minute. Fate brought Emma back into Carters life, is a second chance possible? Will you fight for the woman you have always loved and vice versa? Their chemistry amazing, we were rooting for them.
Overall, a page turner! The story took so many twists and turns and had more than a few surprises. Is someone from Emma past going to be their savior?
(4.8 Stars) Welcome back the the gloves off family with the next generation of fighters. As the son of Matt Reynolds, Carter is just as famous in his MMA career. He has everything a young, handsome athlete could ask for except Emma Jameson. Yes, Ryley Jameson’s daughter and the one who got away. When Emma gets some troubling news she decides to go home to her family. Can they help figure out why the past is coming back to haunt them? Will she be able to see Carter again and keep it friendly? This was a little slower for me in the beginning as it introduces all the second gen kids along with their parents but then it picks up getting into the action/second chance romance. I’m glad there is a family tree in the beginning as keeping track of all the kids was taxing lol. If you enjoy a second chance with some mma underground action then definitely check this one out. I’m excited to see what’s next with all the families. Told in dual POV
This was my first MMA, and my first ARC by this author. Going in i didn’t know exactly what to expect, but I loved it! There’s so many amazing characters to get to know, and love. The fact this was the next generation from another series, (I’ve not read but I now will!) and it’s still so easy to understand and connect with these characters says a lot about how good this book is.
The relationships of all the characters, their parents, and friends is truly unmatched. I really enjoyed the mystery aspect added a lot to the story line, and had me wanting to know more.
Carter is the perfect protective sexy MMC, and Emma holds her own. They reconnect after Emma gets a threatening letter, and she returns home. Carter won’t let her out of his sight (can you say SWOON!)Their relationship is literally goals. The ending left me wanting more! I can’t wait to see where this series goes!
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

Emma and Carter definitely go to the ring and deal with some swings and someone going for the KO.
Their second chance was real. I felt the feelings, the heartbreak, I needed to be ringside and cheer them on. I like how it started slow but picked up quickly. I was almost sad to see it end but I can say their ending was worth all the drama. It made them stronger.
I received an ARC for an honest and voluntarily review.
I haven't read a good 'ol L.P. Dover book in a while and y'all, this was quite the introduction back. What a book(!!) and the start to something new.
New, fresh, intriguing, intense, loaded up to the brims with all of the heart, heat and feels. Craving the Fight is the first in the Gloves Off- Next Generation series and I was hooked from the very start. Emma and Carter burst were everything in so many moments and y'all their journey? Unforgettable and unpredictable in nearly every page.
Like I said it's been a while but it's like riding a bike with L.P. Dover and I can't wait for the next to come in for series.
This really could’ve been done without bringing back the bad guy from the parents’ books. I would’ve loved a fresh storyline. Also, not buying that they just instantly fell back in love. 2.5 stars.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
5 PHENOMENAL STARS!! What a phenomenal start to a new series. This author's words are addicting....I could not put this book down. Carter and Emma have a ride to take you on, so sit back and enjoy. I can't wait for more books in this series.
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here is my review. This one started out with a bang or a win and didn't stop there. Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3.5) Trope: Second chance Angst: 😱😱😱 Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥
Craving the Fight is the first book in the exciting Next Gen series by LP Dover. I have not read the books about their parents, so I was going in blind. I did feel like I would have enjoyed the book more had I read the parents' series first with so many references to other characters fire hosed in the beginning. The book did have tons of action and did a good job of setting up the conflict for this book as well as the ones to come. I did feel that it was a little lacking in the relationship development between the two MCs. It didn't really go super in depth over the circumstances of their separation, but it also didn't have much development on them getting back together. They were mad at each other, saw each other again, and then, bam! all was forgiven and we move on. Overall, it was a cute read, but I just think it could have been "more".
In the first book in the Gloves off second generation series we get Carter and Emma’s story. Yikes this book had so much to unpack at times I wasn’t sure what way was up. You’ll get secrets revealed, threats and loyalty that you expect from the offspring from the original Gloves Off family.
The author writing is flawless, and the words are so captivating, the plot had so many twists and turns and none that I was expecting, and many shockingly intimate I have become a huge fan of this author. The author writes with so much intensity and emotion pulled from each book it’s felt page after page. Some are quick witted story lines are so perfect and lets you believe you have a front row seat. So being able to read this love story didn’t disappoint. The authors ability to have two separate individuals struggling in their everyday life and try to navigate someone else’s thoughts, needs and desires was intense and gives all the fills.

This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book provided to me. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I don’t know where to begin on how happy I am that we get the next generation of fighters from LP Dover! The fact we start right out the gates with Carter and the gang lets me know that this series is jam-packed with not only fighters but lovers as well!
Emma Jameson is the daughter of Ryley and Ashleigh. Having spent the past few years living in New York working as a model, she gets a note that makes her run back home to California. Knowing that Emma may run into Carter but hoping not to, she soon realizes how much she has missed being home. When a photoshoot puts her near Carter, she knows she can no longer keep her feelings at bay. What happens when someone comes into the picture with the potential to ruin her life and her parents as well?
“Because we are stronger together. No matter where you try to send me to keep me safe, it’s not going to work. I’ll leave and come right back to you.”
Carter Reynolds is the son of Matt and Shelby. Having grown up with MMA royalty, his dad was a heavyweight champ, and his aunt fought just as well. His first everything, including love. He is also following in the family with his own fights and loving every minute. Until Emma comes back into his life after being away for many years. Emma is one woman Carter hasn’t been able to get over. Knowing that someone is after Emma, the caveman inside him wants to protect her at any cost.
“I’m not saying it will be easy, but I want this to work. All we have to do is try.”
I have been doing my best to not write any spoilers. You all are going to be in a treat. The past comes back to bite, and oh boy, does it bite hard. Seeing Ryley and Ashleigh with Emma gave me butterflies. It’s funny to think of the parents in their 50s when it seemed just yesterday they were in their 20s. Emma is a strong, determined woman who takes after her father in attitude and looks like her mama. Carter sounds the perfect mini Matt with his protectiveness, and of course, he is a Reynolds, so he has some of his aunt's spice. I felt like I was in with the rest of the kids, banning together to help one another and hoping that everything went ok. I can’t wait to see what happens next, as this feels like the drama will carry on throughout the series instead of sticking to two books.
****Please look at the family tree at the beginning of the book****
This book could be read as a standalone. Still, if you want to better understand what the character's parents went through, I would read the series before this one.
I read ARCs of the original series to this one just before the books released! I remember enjoying the books, so I was excited when I heard that the author was going back to her MMA world! I received an ARC of this book and I started reading it straight away! I have to be honest and say that I think my experience would have been enhanced had I re-read the original series first because I would have remembered events that were mentioned in this book! Nevertheless, I did enjoy this book and the plot went in a completely different direction to what I was expecting! I enjoyed the direction it went in and it allowed for a few different things to happen! It allowed for some action and suspense as well, which added to the plot! There was also a lot of romance in the plot and it was a second chance romance! The characters were amazing and made this book even better! Emma was the main female character, and I felt for her in this book because she was in danger because of who her family were! Emma also had a successful modelling career and I really liked Emma and she spent most of her time worrying about her love interest and their situation because it was a dangerous one! Carter was the main male character and love interest of Emma! Carter was at the top of his game in this book and he had worked hard to get there! Things then changed for Carter and he did things he really didn't want to do to protect Emma and keep others that he cared about safe! I understood why Carter did what he did and it told me a lot about the kind of guy he was! This book was written from both Emma and Carter's point of views! I was hoping that it was going to be before I started reading and the synopsis gives the impression that it's going to be! I'm really happy that it was because it helped me connect more with both characters and see how they felt about each other and how they were dealing with everything! It allowed for more things to happen in the plot as well, which helped as Emma and Carter did go through some situations by themselves and they spent some time apart! I now can't wait to read the next book in this series! I know that it's going to focus on secondary characters in this book, but this has me even more excited to read it because they were very intriguing! I know that the next book releases in July, which isn't long of a wait at all! I'll definitely be reading it once it releases! The cover for this book is also absolutely stunning! I loved it as soon as I saw it and I love how well it suits the book and the MMA theme! The cover models also the perfect Emma and Carter! Big thank you to L.P. Dover for an ARC of Craving the Fight!
Craving the Fight is the first book in L.P. Dover’s new series, Gloves Off: Next Generation. I read the Gloves Off series when they released and loved the series so I am excited about this new one. You do not have to read the original series to read this one but I have a feeling you will want to. First up is Carter and Emma’s story…
Carter and Emma’s relationship was complicated. Their connection was undeniable but hidden for years from their families. They were each other’s first in every way but four years ago things changed. Carter stayed in LA to fight while Emma went to NY to model. They haven’t seen one another in all those years and now she was back in LA and he wasn’t going to let her go this time. He went years trying to forget her with other women but nobody held a candle to his first and only love. She tired to move on as well. Emma was scared. Carter was terrified. They don’t want their hearts broken again and she didn’t run to LA to see him. She ran because she had to…
Someone was after her and she was only the beginning. This next generation of fighters and career driven twenty-somethings we’re not just going to sit around and watch Emma get hurt. They were going to fight just like their parents had to. I can’t get all into that but I will say the story is full of suspense, blood, sweat, and tears. I ♥️Carter. He is protective, badass, and sweet. Emma is also a beautiful badass who is protective as well. Together, they are full of heat, swoon and I can’t wait to see them again throughout the series.
Quotes:
“What ya think? An epic Reynolds and Rushing showdown?” Even though Tyler and my dad were paying us no mind, I knew they could hear us. “Nah, one of them might break a hip,” I let slip out. “They’re getting kind of old.” Tyler flipped us off, and my dad chuckled, both shaking their heads incredulously.
“I’m scared, Carter. It kills me to admit it, but I am. I like to think I’m not afraid of anything, but with you, I’m terrified.”
“While you were gone, it was like a whole part of me was missing,” he whispered. Still connected, I looked into his eyes. “I know the feeling.”
~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~
This is the first in the new series, following the children of the Gloves Off series romances! I loved that series, so was delighted to get to read this book.
We soon get caught up with the size of the new generation - I was grateful for the family tree at the beginning, but sometimes I found the reminders of who was who could be somewhat cumbersome at times. And the reference to 'our father', or 'our mother' sounded odd, surely 'our Dad' or 'our Mom' would have read better. I just found that it pulled me out of the story at times.
Nearly all the Gloves Off children are talented fighters and whilst they do not all work in the family business, most of them do, and very successfully. Their fame brings them some unwanted attention, and how they deal with it is perhaps quite surprising. Knowing what happened to their folks, and how they resolved the issues, one might have expected them to seek their counsel, but no... that somehow seemed very immature, and even could have put the olds at risk. There is a lot of description of the violence which follows these guys in the underground ring - so do be ready for that, as I don't think I was!
I was very happy that Carter and Emma get their story told, and it was definitely complicated by her beauty attracting the attention of a mafia boss's son. I did really like that she had an unexpected connection to his brother, which brings a whole new side to the plot.
We are not left on a cliffhanger thankfully, although I think we can guarantee that future books will once again involve the underbelly of the MMA world, as after all, the guys now all have tattoos which they probably would rather they didn't.
Emma Jameson is a model living in New York far away from the rest of her family, and her ex-boyfriend whom she can’t seem to get over. She has been in some relationships but her heart has never gotten over her first love. When she receives a threatening anonymous note she knows she has no choice but to head home to California.
Carter Reynolds is a MMA Champion Fighter and son of Matt Reynolds who was famous for his fighting skills as well. Carter has everything he has dreamed of with women throwing themselves at him and can’t even remember half of the party.
When Emma comes home and Carter realizes she is in trouble he isn’t going to let her go again, but it looks like this time he may not have a choice as there isn’t anything that Carter won’t do to protect her.
This was a good book and I do remember reading some of the parents stories.
I liked Emma’s character and got why she needed to live her own life away from her famous family. That being said when she received the threatening note she knew that the safest place for her to be was with her siblings.
Carter was on a huge ego trip at the beginning of the book sleeping with whomever he wanted and partying it up hard. He worked and trained hard but he went through the women hard. Yet when he realized what was going on with Emma everything changed.
There was obvious strong chemistry between Emma and Carter and they definitely made up for lost time with their relationship.
There was mystery involving the note but when things began to be figured out something would happen to twist everything upside down. I was shocked when there was a switch in power but then the end had another twist that left me a little confused to what is actually going to happen in the next books with who is really running everything and why.
The end was good for Carter and Emma but I am curious to see what happens next. - By Rebecca
I haven’t read the original Gloves Off series so I went into this book a bit blind as to who was who. Craving the Fight is the first book in a new series featuring the children of the characters from the initial books and problems that were thought to have been dealt with by their parents are once again rearing their ugly heads and casting shadows on the next generation. Carter Reynolds is on top of the world. A reigning MMA heavyweight champion, the world is at his feet except for one thing – Emma Jameson, the girl who got away. They were each other’s firsts for a lot of things until she ran. Now she’s back after receiving an ominous letter and this time Carter isn’t going to let her go again.
To start with I was a bit confused with all the characters and their various relationships so thank you LP Dover for providing the family tree at the beginning of this book so I could look back a few times for reference. It really did help. I loved the close relationships they all had. It was so much more than mere friendship and the love and affection they had for each other leapt of the page. This was probably one of my favourite parts of this book. The plot itself is set in the world of underground fighting where the only rule is there are none and refusing to fight is not an option considering its run by the mafia. There’s the obligatory evil “baddie” who is so slimy and vile I’m really looking forward to seeing him get his comeuppance as this series progresses. If you love second chance romances with plenty of action and a fantastic cast of secondary characters then this is a book for you.
Craving The Fight by @lpdover is book 1 in the Gloves Off Next Generation series!!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5
First off let me start off by saying if you haven't read the Gloves Off series go do that because it's amazing! When I started reading again in 2020 it was because of that series!
Going into this I was just a smidge weary but also overly excited that's how much I loved the previous 9 books! (Matt Reynolds' story is Fighting for Love which is book 4 in her Second Chances series). It's a series I couldn't put down. I remember my fiancé looking at me saying another 4$ for kindle and it was like every other day I couldn't stop. I have a series case of "need to know!" But i was weary because sometimes when you've already read 9 books you wonder if a next generation is going to feel over done like they're reaching for something that isn't there or the anticipation falls flat and leaves you bored!
Well I'm here to say.... L.P. Dover did it again because... This book was everything I didn't know I needed! Holy Sh*t!!!! Not only did I need the small glimpses of the OG characters I fell in love with 2 years ago but damn did I need their kids!!
It's intense from beginning to end but that should come as no surprise if you read the first series! Its an adrenaline rush that leaves you on the edge of your seat!
I love the dynamic between Emma and Carter! But also the camaraderie between all the guys in general.
I absolutely loved this book from beginning to end and I'm anxious to read the next one!
If you read the Gloves Off series some characters will be familiar to you as this is the start of the children's series thankfully there is a family tree at the start if you've forgotten who everyone is.
The story is fast paced full of intrigue and a second chance for Carter and Emma. Carter is the MMA champion having won another fight he should be on top of the world but he starts reflecting on his life and what he is missing. Emma is a model at the top of her profession living away from home she lives a full life but is not completely happy. When Emma gets a threatening letter she knows she has to return home just at the same time as Carter.
Even though the main focus of the story is Carter and Emma we do get to meet all the OG characters kids. A blast from the past has come back to torment the family and the kids decide to keep it from their parents and deal with the threat themselves. This aspect of the story is high octane fast paced and had me scared what the final outcome would be. They are dealing with dangerous people who pull them in to a dark and dangerous world.
I loved Carter and Emma together we slowly get bits and pieces of their shared past. You get a good feel for the friendship they had and the love between them. It is a mystery how they managed to stay apart as they are on fire as a couple. They are romantic supportive and the sexual chemistry is off the charts. Some of my favourite scenes are when all the crew are together they were like one big loving family.
The story is dark dangerous full of mystery and intrigue that had me hooked from the start. This is a continuing storyline with each book going to focus on a different couple. It's a series that I cannot wait to see what happens next.
I really liked Carter and Emma. The premise of the story is really good because you can tell that certain aspects of the story that will carry on into the rest of the series. I did not read the original series Gloves Off, therefore I'm finding there are a lot of characters But it did help that there was a chart at the beginning to let you know who was who ... I would have been totally lost without it. I would have liked to know why Emma and Carter split up in the first place and I thought they got back together way too quick. WOW ... did Carter and Emma sizzle between the sheets! The end of the book left me wanting more ... I guess that's why it's called a series ... lol!
Carter and Emma had a secret relationship when they were teenagers, but ended up going their separate ways. A few years later Emma receives a threat, so she goes home to California to ask her siblings and friends for their help to get to the bottom of it. Carter just won the MMA Heavyweight championship in Las Vegas. When he goes home to California and finds out that Emma is being threatened, his protective instincts take over. He won't let her out of his sight until they have the threat eliminated.
