Trained by the best to be the best, can her exceptional skills and extraordinary powers save her from an ancient war?
Talia Sarri knew nothing about her maternal grandfather until the state sent her to live with him in the wake of her father's tragic death. But unraveling the mysteries of her lineage only leads to more shock when she discovers that she's not just a mage. She's also half-black dragon, her new guardian is the head of a secret organization that is preparing for the coming dragon war.
Paired with her grandfather's most trusted team leader, Talia must learn how to fight and embrace powers she never knew she had. However, Talia has just as much to learn about distraction and focus with a mentor as intriguing as Raven Paules.
Leaning into her strengths comes at a cost, as great power also comes with chaos. With the pending war on the horizon, can she learn to control the chaos, or will she lose herself before her very first battle?
Aleah Raynes loves paranormal, fantasy, mystery, suspense, reverse harem, and anything else that hooks her from the first page. She writes new adult and young adult fiction and romance in the genres she loves to read.
She is co-authoring the Vaskell Empire series with Mandy Caruso. Book one, Touched of Ice releases September 2017. And her debut solo novel, Visions of Pain (Capissian Order, book 1) - a clean new adult reverse harem – releases in October 2017.
The story concept is interesting enough, but honestly I couldn’t bother to finish the book.
There were a lot of typos, awkward pacing and pieces of chapters that should have been moved to the next chapter… the worst part was the main character. She is so unlikeable because of just how perfect she is starting out - and she stays that way. There is pretty much 0 character development and it just too distasteful.
An adventure that will keep you reading. Talia suffered the loss of her parents, then was sent off to her grandfather. After she arrives she learns there is so much more to her than being a mage. She doesn't get to fully settle in and accept her new life, because those who are with her family are in the middle of a war. There are a lot of interesting characters to learn about, but I truly enjoyed Talia. She is very strong, smart, and feisty. I also really liked Raven and how he pushed Talia to grow. Their banter was fun. The book does a great job with world building and setting up what is to come, I definitely want to spend more time in this world. I highly recommend you read this book. Dragon Fire is the first in an exciting new series starring a young woman who has suffered the loss of her parents and is shuttled off to a relative she didn’t know she had. When she arrives she learns more about her heritage. Unfortunately she is dumped in the middle of a draconic war that may destroy her new family and home. I love Talia she is smart, strong and a little snarky. This is a thrilling adventure and I am anxiously awaiting the next installment.
I read this in two days. I rarely read actual books anymore (preferring to listen to them nowadays) but I couldn't put this one down. This book has a strong female lead, characters you can connect with, a fast-paced storyline, and is well written. It was fun, entertaining, and intriguing ans I look forward to the next in the series.
I read this in one sitting, and enjoyed the crazy path the story took. Ii enjoyed the way we had to learn and discover things just as the main character did. I am very eager to start the next book in this exciting series. Given the quality of this one, I'm sure I won't be disappointed!.

Great characters. Imaginative Storyline. Well written with many twists and turns. Excitement throughout!! Appropriate for many ages- though there is violence and some crime and fighting and a kiss, but no sex. I am hoping there is a sequel!!!!!.

First in a trilogy, our heroine is almost too mature and talented to be true. Talia is an amazing young woman who is about to discover her heritage. We learn about it along with her, but there are lots of unanswered questions when the book ends. Yes, I want to read the sequel, but I will acknowledge that there are some tropes that diminish the freshness of the book.
Fast paced adventure from the first page. You become embroiled in Talia's life from the very first chapter...and thing get hotter the further in you go. Discovery, change and unexpected enemies are just some of her journey...and there is promise of a lot more! An addictive series I think...Will definitely be looking at progressing this set.
Excellent start to a new series. Well written great for fans of PNR. Tallia is a good female lead, great rapport with Raven and tons of mysteries left to uncover. Fast paced and well written, I am looking forward to more from this series.
I stayed up late to finish this, and then proceeded to continue staying up to read the 2nd one! At the beginning Talia's world gets turned upside down. Then proceeds to be turned upside down again. As she learns to handle her new powers, she exceeds in other ways that her father trained her. Making her super duper badass!.
