Clairvoir Castle Romances #4

Lord Farleigh and Miss Frost

Rate this book
An Irish miss and a duke's son have little in common, but Christmas at the castle has a way of bringing the most unlikely people together.

Isleen Frost wishes her family had stayed in Dublin for Christmas but understands it would have been folly to decline an invitation to the Duke of Montfort’s Christmastide house party. Isleen refuses to allow the opulent castle and powerful duke to impress her. But the duke’s eldest son, Lord Farleigh, is another matter entirely.

Raised as the heir to a duke, Simon Dinard, Lord Farleigh, has learned to project a calm self-assurance despite an inner fear he will never be as confident a leader as his father. When a friendly wager and a spirited Irish lady challenge all his unspoken thoughts, he determines to prove her wrong—and ignore the growing attraction between them.

Christmas celebrations at the castle are always full of surprises, but Isleen and Simon are not at all prepared for the feelings the season inspires between them. An Irish miss and a duke’s son have no business falling in love. But the magic of sleigh rides, snow-covered hills, and mistletoe might change their minds...

This novel is a sweet Regency romance and can be read as a stand-alone, though readers of the previous books will enjoy seeing old friends again.

I enjoyed this reread so much. A beautiful comfort read.
I'm happy there's a new installment in this lovely series and I'll get directly to it (because I got an arc, yay!)

Edit I'm downgrading this from 5 to 4 stars, though.
Although the romance deserves 5 stars, I struggle with the way the author treats the Peterloo Massacre. She explains in her author's notes that this is meant to be a light book, but then she shouldn't have mentioned the Peterloo Massacre the way she did or not at all. I recently read the Society Of Gentlemen - series by KJ Charles where the massacre has a central role, read more about it, and I'm disappointed how it was mentioned here.

This was lovely... definitely a favorite for me by Sally Britton!

I loved Isleen and Simon, their getting closer, the families surrounding them.

Sally Britton has a beautiful writing style and such an amazing way to slowly, quietly, develop her plot.

5 stars for this "gentle" historical romance.

Oh my goodness.

Sally Britton.. you did it again. You managed to help me escape back into this world again and love every minute of it. This time, with a visiting Irish family during the holidays.

Ahhhh. I can't say much since this is book #4 of the series.

I'll just say that it's fun, romantic, exciting, and ends with a Christmas Ball.

Squeaky clean romance. The bad guy says the "D" word once near the end.

Sally Britton's Lord Farleigh and Miss Frost artfully narrated by Jessica Elisa Boyd, invites listeners into a Regency tapestry adorned with mistletoe and heartwarming escapades. In this fourth Clairvoir Castle installment, a festive backdrop unfurls, blending English and Irish Christmas traditions with a seamless elegance.

Sally Britton and Jessica Elisa Boyd have created a truly captivating audiobook that not only honors the genre but sets a standard for brilliance.

Jessica Elisa Boyd's dulcet tones add a captivating layer to the auditory experience, breathing life into characters immersed in whimsical wagers and the enchanting ambiance of the castle. The interplay between Isleen's Irish fervor and Simon's noble responsibilities unfolds against a backdrop of merriment, humor, and brief moments of peril promptly resolved!

The alchemy between Simon and Isleen, coupled with the mirthful wagers and unforeseen challenges, mirrors a tapestry of familial and romantic connections. Sally Britton's felicitous storytelling, resonating with Pride and Prejudice echoes, weaves a narrative of love, camaraderie, and emotional rejuvenation.

Lord Farleigh and Miss Frost is an auditory delight, a wintry symphony ringing with historic charm and festive tales. Jessica Elisa Boyd's lovely narration elevates this audiobook, creating an aural masterpiece that captivates enthusiasts of Regency romance.

I received a download code to listen to Lord Farleigh and Miss Frost via Spotify and Booksprout by Sally Britton. I was not required to write a positive review nor paid to do so. The words above are my honest review of this delightful audiobook.

What a delightful Christmas regency romance!

I loved the historical setting and the sweet and gentle romance between two seemingly opposite people. Isleen is a spirited Irish woman, Simon is trying to find his confidence as the heir to a dukedom. Their banter and spirited conversations were adorable and the wager they were cornered into making was full of so many laughs and so much flirting. The scene at the inn was perfection!

I loved the inclusion of so many Christmas/winter adventures! My personal favorite was the snowball fight (is there a better flirting opportunity?) and of course no regency Christmas story is complete without some mistletoe.

Another sweet and gentle romance that had me smiling from first page to last. If you have read other books in this series, you will enjoy the cameos from favorite characters from previous books but this absolutely can be read as a stand-alone. So much heartwarming Christmas goodness and swoony romance make this a perfect read this holiday season. Highly recommend!!

I received a complimentary copy but a positive review was not required.

This Regency novel has a creative storyline, fun characters, excellent writing, a dash of humor, and a gentle romance. The author delivers all of this in a sweet and (mostly) low angst story with a delightfully happy ending. Set in a castle at Christmas time, it is a perfect winter read. It’s part of a series, but can be easily read as a standalone.

I was provided with a complimentary eARC. A positive review was not required and all opinions are my own.

Finally, my quest has ended and a new christmas hr favourite has been found! 👏✨️

“Isleen,” he growled. “You don’t fight fair.”
She kicked more snow at him, though it barely reached his face. “‘The rules of fair play do not apply in love and war."
“Do they not?” he asked, folding his hands over his stomach, fingers laced, as he looked up at her. “And which is this, Isleen? Love or war?"

Such an unexpected five stars, like I cannot begin to tell you how much fun I had reading this book. It managed to strike a perfect balance of family shennanigans slow burn romance. Oh and how deliciously soft of a slow burn it was!

Isleen and Simon are wonderful - their growing friendship and slow fall into love via one of the silliest wagers I've ever come across was toothachingly sweet. The way they both took time to get to know each other, the way they unexpectedly guided one another to open up, the way they yearned... Ah, this is exactly why I'm so in love with this genre bc when an hr hits, it HITS 🫶💕

I especially loved how Simon's parents and the way they care for their family and friends - the scene where the duke tells Simon how he is always his father first, how PROUD he is of the man he has become, how he has no doubts of leaving the family and the estate in his care... Made me cry 'kay?! 🙈😭

I can't wait to go back and read others' stories, hopefully they leave me as floored as this one did! 🤞

side note: the almost kiss in the snowy forest!!! simon sneakingly snowballing pior isleen, simon being flirty in general!! 💘

I would have enjoyed this more if I didn’t feel that what the characters were doing to Simon was a bit unfair.

Still, I enjoyed it and apparently there’ll be more books in the series!! I can’t wait!!

I. Love. This. Series.

There is something about regency books! 😍 AND A SUPER CLOSE, LOVING DUKE’S FAMILY?!? Yep. Yeeeppp. Uh huh! My kinda series!

I just loved these characters! I loved Isleen so much! I love how open and honest she was. She was never afraid to be herself! She spoke her mind, but was so classy!

Simon was FABULOUS! I ADORED watching his “fun-loving” self come out! And how he loved his family!

The side characters were such fun too! I looooovvveeeddd Emma & Luca & Josephine & Andrew!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
The whole group was SUCH fun!!

There was GREAT communication throughout the book! And a great foundation of friendship in their relationship! I’m anxiously awaiting book 5, and hope to see this cast of characters again!!

I wish they had declared their feelings for each other a little earlier, and we would’ve gotten a little more romance between the two. BUT! I did enjoy the slow burn as well!

Both characters had a lot of inner self doubts about how they measured up to people, and I wish that had gotten a bit more screen time in the way of them “working through it”. Though both scenes where it was talked about were touching!

The “suspense” plot was not a main point of the story, which was fine with me. But at the same time felt a little weird since it was just kinda thrown in there. But we don’t mind a time for the girl to be a bit of the rescuer. 😉

I loved the blending of Irish & English — their Christmas traditions and all! Such fun! AND THE BET!!! *ahh* Really there was so much to enjoy about this adorable story!
4/5 stars

*not cf but a clean read*

4 1/2 stars!

When a spunky Irish lass & a serious English Lord meet at a Christmas house party, watch the sparks fly! This is a sweet, fun Regency romance with lots of enjoyable Christmas scenes & traditions plus some hilarious challenges that had me smiling, with a Pride and Prejudice feel I loved.

Isleen Frost and her family are visiting the Duke of Montford’s castle for a Christmas house party. Isleen has reason to dislike the English and Simon, the seemingly pompous future Duke definitely gets her dander up. Simon for his part feels the weight of his future role. He’s wary of women cozying up to him because of his title and is suspicious of Isleen’s motives. This view is soon turned on its head as the spirited Isleen leaves him in no doubt of her feelings.

Simon’s siblings and friends are the best kind of supporters. In an effort to lighten Simon up and bring some frivolity into his life, they encourage Isleen to make a bet with him. He’ll except any challenge Isleen offers him and if he wins, Isleen will kiss someone under the mistletoe. The challenges range from wearing dandyish clothing to talking in rhyme just to name a few.

The more time Simon and Isleen spend together, the more they begin to see beyond their own preconceived notions. Their mutual respect and admiration grows with each challenge. But, what happens when the party ends?

Loved Isleen and Simon! They’re so delightful. I loved Isleen’s witty comments and her amazing storytelling. She’s an enjoyable character whose lovely Irish lilt I could hear in my head as I was reading. Simon suffers from feeling inadequate despite his position. I loved seeing the depth in his character and the way he willingly accepted each challenge no matter how embarrassing. The drinking song was a favorite! The slow burn romance goes from enemies to friends to more.

Highly recommend this sweet, enjoyable Christmas house party romance! There’s even a little bit of suspense towards the end. It’s perfect for any season but especially fun for Christmas. I received an advanced complimentary copy from the author. All opinions are my own and I was not required to provide a positive review.

(Can I just say that Sally's book covers are amazing?? Lord Farleigh and Miss Frost is no exception!)

If you're looking for a cozy holiday read full of a fledgling romance, intrigue, a dare, and a tender friendship into something more, Lord Farleigh and Miss Frost is the read for you!

An Irish lass and an English lord take center stage and you'll be curious as to how their rocky friendship turns to more as they dare each other: lord Farleigh to be less serious and to have fun, and miss Frost to have a Mistletoe kiss.

Heart warming, with hints of healing, and an adorable but mischievous gang of friends, you won't want this tale to end.

**I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own**

Content guide:

Faith: mentions of protestants and the strain between them and the catholic church

Violence: a character is held at gunpoint and threatened

Romance: mentions of kissing under the Mistletoe, character thinks of kissing another character, mentions of couples in love, a couple kiss

Language: the D- word shows up once, otherwise clean

I’ve had this book on my kindle for ages. And I’m so glad that I finally got it read. I loved everything about this book. The author did such a fantastic job with it.

Isleen is our main female character. She’s headed to Clairvoir Castle to spend Christmas. I loved the way she wasn’t sure about the English Christmas traditions, especially mistletoe. She didn’t want to kiss any old stranger under it at the Christmas Eve ball. There were so many things to love about Isleen. She was so clever. All of the challenges she came up with for Simon were so great. And Isleen was a great story teller. She was able to tell her stories and keep children and adults alike entertained.

Then there’s Simon. I had to laugh at the way he and his family always were betting on something. And it was always all in good fun. That’s how Isleen started needing to challenge Simon. Those bets were the best!

I loved everything about this book. Next I’ll have to read all of the other books, so I can get to know the rest of Simon’s family.

So sweet. So gentle. Such a nice relaxing story. I absolutely love the author's stated goal with this series, of writing for "enjoyment without undue anxiety." She totally nails that, with none of the agitating tropes that are sometimes frustrating to read. Nope, here you will find no lengthy misunderstandings, no pride as a barrier between people, no overly feisty sniping/bantering. Instead it's a refreshing foray into a generally kind and forgiving and good-natured little universe.
There is just a *smidge* of peril in this one towards the end but it's quite brief.
If you want a palate cleanser between more dramatic books, the books in this series fit the bill!

Lord Farleigh and Miss Frost was a charming and sweet Regency Christmas novel. The narration was beautifully done and I enjoyed both the author’s British and Irish accents. It added a nice authenticity to the story.

I loved the way Simon’s family and friends welcomed Isleen and her family right into their holiday traditions. Simon came from a very powerful, yet very kind family indeed.

The various dares and pranks were fun and I loved both Simon’s and Isleen’s attitudes regarding them. It was sweet to see these two grow closer to each other as the book progressed. They even eventually shared the worries and burdens of their hearts with each other, solidifying the beginnings of a possible relationship.

This tale was so nice to listen to from start to finish. I have not read the previous books in the series, but had no trouble jumping into this one.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Lord Farleigh and Miss Frost was everything regency Christmas books should be.

I’ve loved getting to know the people staying at Castle Clairvoir the last few years through this series of books, and I’ve been looking forward to Simon’s book, because I like him so much.

This books is a happy Christmas read, yet it brings in so much more. I loved the blending of English and Irish Christmas traditions. The bits of politics at the time added depth. I loved the grumpy/sunshine spinster combo. Simon feels the weight of his title and Isleen is a perfect blend of fun, and earned wisdom for him.

I loved all the scenes with younger siblings. They brought a lightness to the book and their relationships and place in the story didn’t feel forced. I think the thing I liked the most perhaps was how every interaction between characters felt genuine. Sally has a talent.

I think my favorite scene was the snowball fight, but it comes close to the mistletoe wager.

Overall such a great read! I’m so grateful to Sally for this ARC. Thank you for writing such wonderful stories!

We're back at Clairvoir Castle and there's a Christmas time house party. I love house parties because of all the activities and the hero and heroine are forced to spend time together so the readers get a lot of character interactions. Sparks fly between Miss Isleen Frost, an Irish young lady whose family has been invited to stay at the castle, and Lord Simon Farleigh, the eldest son of the Duke. She's full of spunk and doesn't care for the English and he isn't as cool and confident as he tries to portray himself to be. I love enemies to lovers romances and this definitely had that vibe.

I loved reading about the Christmas traditions each family had. I thought Simon's friends were a lot of fun and his family seemed to be able to turn almost anything into a bet. The bet between Simon and Isleen lead to some really fun challenges like having to talk in rhyme and the drinking song!! I'd love to hear that on the audiobook!

This is a slow-burn romance and I enjoyed Isleen and Simon finding out that each was not how they originally perceived the other to be. I also liked seeing characters from the previous books in the series. This is part of a series but I feel it could be read as a standalone without the reader being lost.

This is another wonderful installment in the Clairvoir Castle series and I loved it. Although this book is part of a series and CAN stand alone, I don't recommend it as a stand-alone. It's been about 6 months since I read the first three books (and a prequel), so I had to reacquaint myself with all the characters including 4 married couples, the unmarried children, then the newcomers for this story. I struggled remembering all the who's who, their personalities, and how they met, but it did all start coming back to me. But if you aren't familiar with the characters, this could be a struggle without taking notes. This story (as the author intended) is a clean, gentle romance with a slow burn, low angst storyline, centered around a very loving family and wonderful characters in a beautiful castle. Consider this a nice cleanse for your reading palate. No evil villains here, except an incident towards the end that involves a kidnapping attempt motivated by politics. It sprung out of left field but did fit the social unrest at the time and allowed our hero and heroine to overcome the ordeal together.

While the epilogue doesn't hint at things to come further in the series, all is forgiven as the author notes assure that more will be coming. She just hasn't landed on which story to tell next. I am excited there will be more and look forward to it.

I think I need to add “spend Christmas in a castle” to my bucket list!

Simon is a very serious man and has no time for all the women trying to catch him. A house party with a sassy Irish miss, Isleen, turns his world upside down, especially as his friends stir up a little mischief by encouraging some challenges that really keep things interesting.

Isleen has beautiful story-telling capabilities that are entrancing and she’s a pure delight. It was fun to see her so wary of English traditions, especially the mistletoe, and to watch her engage and interact with Simon, particularly when the challenges began.

I listened to this book and it was a special treat to hear the narrator sing. These characters brought so much joy to the story and I was highly entertained throughout. Sally Britton provides such sweet and swoon-worthy stories and this one is the perfect holiday read.

Content: mild romance

I absolutely LOVED this book. Sally Britton is one of my new favorite authors and this book didn’t disappoint. I felt like she captured everything I love about Christmas and wrapped it all nicely together in one perfect Christmas book.

I loved the name choices for her characters. Isleen Frost is just a gorgeous choice. I also loved the general Christmas feel throughout the book. Sometimes authors claim a book to be a “Christmas” book, but then barely throw any Christmas content in until the end. But this entire story was filled with Christmas adventures. Though different from my own due to the year the book is set in, it felt like there was a common thread in how both the characters and myself experience Christmas. I really related and I just loved that!

Lastly, I couldn’t help but love how sweet and slowly a romance developed between Isleen and Simon. Their friends and family knew well before they did and I loved watching each adventure pull them closer together.

I will definitely read this book again. Thank you to the author for the advance copy in exchange for an honest review! I couldn’t recommend this book more!

Loved this regency Christmas romance. I've only read one other book in this series, so now I need to go read the others.
.
Set in an English castle at Christmas time, this book is full of holiday joy. The male lead is a duke-to-be who is unsure of his ability to fill his father's shoes. The female lead is an Irish lass who has suffered tremendous loss in her life.
.
All of the supporting characters are wonderful and really help to bring the story to life.
.
"Age isn't anything to be ashamed of, to my way of thinking. It is merely a number, and if we are lucky, we will count many years instead of few."
.
"Measuring ourselves against the expectations of others, real or imagined, is quite difficult. It creates a weight on our hearts and souls, I think, that we do not always know how to carry."

OBeing the heir to a duke made Simon Denard the target for many a young lady in society, and a lot of other people too, all striving to better their own standing through a connetion to him. As if that was not enough to make a young man weary, his own feelings of inadequacy, when it came to living up the high standard his father had set, as an excellent both man and duke, had put a very heavy weight on his shoulders. And now one of those society young ladies was to spend a whole month in his home during the Christmas season - he was exausted even though she and her family had just arrived!

Poor Simon, I feel so much for him. And Andrew, the traitor, had abondoned him and married his sister, making Simon more alone than ever. We humans often build up our own view of things that is not necessarily accurate, especially when we tell ourselves to not talk to people because we believe that that would demish us in their eyes or are afraid that they will agree with our assessment of ourselves, and so we put more on our shoulders than really ought to be there and watching Simon bear that burden alone makes me want to shake him, ha ha.

To his great surprise though, Simon finds Miss Isleen Frost a much different, and after the initial impression, a quite pleasing new acquaintance and she in return finds a much nicer English lord than she might have ever imagined after their first interaction and from her usual experience with how the English peerage sees the Irish.

Returning to Castle Clairvoir in the winter is a new experience, as we have always visited it in the Summer in the previouse books, so it was really nice to see how the family's life looks during the Holidays. And it gives a lovely backdrop to the romance that builds between two guarded persons that, to their own surprise, find themselves getting something much more precious than any Christmas present they might ever receive.

Sally Britton has again written a beautiful story, full of heartfelt feeling, humor and genuinly good characters that inspires me to be a good person too. I'm grateful to her for sending me an ARC of this lovely story.

"Simon?" his father called as Simon's hand touched the door handle. He turned to face his father. "Good luck with Miss Frost."

A spirited/feisty personality vs a broody personality is just so much fun to read about! I was a HUGE fan of Sir Andrew and the Authoress and was wondering if this book could compete with that one; and let me tell you it can, and it did!!

What you'll find in this book:

-brooding Englishman
-feisty Irish lass
-wagers/bets
-banter
-family togetherness
-holiday traditions
-heartfelt scenes
-a dash of suspense
-sweet romance

If those things aren't a recipe for success, I don't know what is! This book is the perfect addition to holiday (or non holiday) reading! The more I read of this series, the more I love!

Thanks to the author for the copy. All thoughts in this review are my own.

I struggled with this one. Maybe I am a harsh critique because I have been having bad luck in choosing books and my hopes and expectations for this one were really high. (Especially as I already loved the whole series).

But i didnt love this one. The wager is weird. The dares that Simon has to do even more so. If Andrew is concerned for Simon thats nice and good but please what happened to talking to each other?

The real problems (his not being able to live up to his father) was solved by just one time speaking to her and one time him (not realistic.). Her being able to fill the role of a duchess? how?

They never really flirted and I just wanted to read an sweet love book with no real drama. (what the other books did so well...)...

Well. But the setting was nice, i adores Lord James (and Fiona) and cant wait for Sterling's story....

Such a perfect holiday read from Sally Britton! I love this series, it is the perfect gentle romance for a stressful season. I got this book right after my midterms and it was a lovely treat to read. The Clairvoir Castle series follows the inhabitants of Clairvoir Castle as they find their path in life and find love!
Isleen Frost would rather spend Christmas at home in Dublin, than in England, but knows the foolishness of declining the invitation to the Duke of Montfort’s Christmas party. She is determined to not let the powerful duke or the stunning castle impress her, but the duke’s son, Lord Farleigh is a surprise to her. Simon Dinard, Lord Farleigh has learned to project a calm self-assuredness as the heir to duke, but he has an inner fear that he will never be as confident a leader as his father. A friendly wager with the spirited Irish lady visiting the castle challenges him, even as he tries to ignore the growing attraction between them. The Christmas celebrations at the castle are full of surprises, but an Irish miss and a duke’s son have no business falling in love. Will the magic of sleigh rides and mistletoe change their minds?
As always, an amazing book from Sally Britton! I was so excited to read Simon’s book after meeting him in the previous books! He seemed very sweet and a great brother to the rest of the siblings. I am happy to report that he is just as sweet as I thought! He is finding his place as the heir, standing in the shadows of his noble and powerful father. He was definitely a relatable character in that sense. I appreciated his sense of responsibility, even though he tended to take things a bit too seriously. But Simon found a match in Isleen! She was so fun! I loved her spirit and intelligence. She was confident and opinionated, but still very thoughtful. I appreciated the positive relationship she had with her family as well. The two of them were super cute together! They could have meaningful conversations, but also brought out the playfulness in each other.
Through wagers and Christmas celebrations, Simon and Isleen grew closer. I liked how they had a chance to spend time together in different settings and the support of returning characters. One of my favorite things about the series is seeing old friends again. This book definitely brought back some fun characters and I enjoyed seeing them in different spaces. Nearly all the characters were there and it was so funny reading their interactions. The story moved along pretty quickly and as said before, it is meant to be a gentle romance, so although there is some excitement, overall it is a sweet and clean book. I would definitely recommend it to readers 13 and up. It is part of a series, but can be read as a standalone.

Simon Dinnard feels the weight of expectation profoundly. Measuring up to his father, the Duke of Montfort, seems impossible, and Simon’s efforts have pulled him into a state of seriousness that his family and friends have noticed. It is no surprise, then, that he becomes a victim of their newest wager.

Isleen Frost is hesitant to trust the English, but when her brother’s friend, Lord Farleigh invites her family to spend Christmas with them, they leave behind their Irish homeland to journey to England. While first impressions of the earl are unpleasant, the more time Isleen spends in his company, the more she likes him.

When Isleen becomes Simon’s keeper in a wager that prevents him from turning down opportunities of frivolity, both of them struggle with their growing attraction to one another. The son of a duke and an Irish miss have no business being together, but the spirit of the Christmas Season might just change their minds.

Such a sweet story!! I adored Simon and really sympathize with the burden and sense of inadequacy he caries. He and Isleen are just perfect for each other. I LOVED having all the characters reunited and seeing them happy! Loved all the little hints for Josie and having the conte and Emma back, too! I definitely recommend reading the series in order just to have that moment of contentedness because you can’t help but get attached to them. Can’t wait for the next installment!

I love a book with a big loving family!! It just does something to my heart. Both families in this story are so supportive but also know how to have fun with each other! This is a book you will read with a smile on your face till the end!

Simon has a lot of responsibilities that come with being the heir to a Duke. He’s no longer the mischievous boy of his youth. He’s grown very proper over the years as he begins to understand what his future holds. When a friend makes a wager involving Simon and a spirited Irish houseguest, Simon will be forced to find his “fun” again.

“He had only forgotten what it meant to enjoy himself.”

Isleen’s family has been invited to a Christmas house party with the righteous Lord Farleigh and his family. A friendly wager involving the handsome, but proud Simon might be more than Isleen bargained for.

“Men such as him had no right to be both attractive and infuriating.”

These two are so cute together. The wager makes for some really fun scenes including banister sliding!! My favorite part was the snowball fight!

This is the 4th book in the Clairvoir Castle Romances series. It can be read as a stand alone but is so fun to read when you know the backstory of the side characters.

Thanks Sally Britton for the eARC! All thoughts are my own.

This was so sweet and loved the grumpy/sunshine cinnamon roll with forced proximity, a wager and all the wonderful things about Christmas. That means a ball, snowball fights and mistletoe.

Isleen is such a perfect heroine. She’s smart, independent and so caring. She cares about each person regardless of rank. I really enjoyed learning more about Ireland traditions and the different things she had Simon do. Simon has always been a little too serious knowing one day he’ll become a Duke. But a wager that causes him to look ridiculous is one wager he can’t say no even if he has to look or speak a different way.

The narrator was perfect even with the singing! This audio released earlier this year but is available to listen to for free on YouTube. Thanks to the author for the audio alc.

I stayed up way too late finishing this book. I loved the previous book in this series and it was fun to see so many of my favorite characters in that one gather for a family Christmas house (castle?) party. I loved the historical details sprinkled throughout.

Isleen is feisty and intelligent and I love how she draws out Simon (Lord Farleigh’s) playful, less serious side.

I’m with Isleen on the mistletoe opinion…why kiss under fungus? But also, I did put up some in my house and I like to randomly stand under it and wait for my husband to pass by…so maybe it is all about having the right person to kiss under the fungus?

Many thanks to Sally Britton for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own!
