For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to fight fire.

There’s no high like rushing into a burning building, knowing you could save a life.

Ever since I met Pepper, I’ve only put her in danger.

But even that knowledge can’t keep me away.

She’s everything I never knew I needed.

Kind, brave, and never hesitates to put me in my place.

But someone isn’t happy I’ve found a place with her.

As the threats close in around us, I have a choice to make.

Give up everything I’ve dreamed or lose the woman who has made me whole.

The fires are closing in.

Time is running out.

And we might both be burned to ashes.

After reading Crash last month, I was desperate to get the conclusion to Pepper and Teague's story. This one had a bit more suspense than the first, but by the end, all my questions were answered and even though Pepper and Teague's story concluded, it left me craving so much more from a certain secondary character.

Teague and Pepper fell hard and fast for one another, but it seems like everything is trying to pull them apart. Still, they're determined to be together no matter what the cost. For this to work out, they need to figure out who's been causing all this trouble for not only them, but the dog rescue Pepper runs with Miss Adeline.

I've got to be honest and say a lot of the twists and turns in this one were not things I was guessing. I love it when it's not completely predictable. Pepper and Teague were both fantastic, I adored them. I only wish this would have been a bit more romance heavy and a little lighter on the suspense, but that's just a personal preference. Either way, I loved this book and these characters to pieces.

One of my favorite things about reading a Grahame Claire book, aside from the excellent writing, is the fact that they have so many wonderful and lovable side characters. This book is no exception. Not only do we get a peek at some of our favorite GC characters from books past, but Teague's siblings, along with Miss Adeline and the dogs were everything!

If you're looking for a romantic suspense that is sweet, endearing, and will leave you guessing, pick up the Crash & Burn duet!

After Crash, I was dying to get my hands on Burn. I had so many questions and I'm not a patience person. Luckily I didn't have to wait too long. Burn picks up right were Crash left off. This book kept me guessing the whole time. I didn't know who the bad guy was until the very end. I thought it was someone else. There was tons of cute dog moments and I loved all the family drama. I really fell in love with Teague and Pepper. Adeline was funny and reminded me of my grandpa with her sass. Teague's brother and sister Lincoln, and Beau were awesome. So close and supportive of each other. I loved them and I really hope they get their own story. This book was sweet, angsty, had a bit of action, and lots of sweet dogs. The only reason it's a 4 star for me instead of a 5 is I felt it lacked some of the passion. It was a pretty clean read with a few kisses and I missed that sexy time. Still I felt a connection to this couple, their family, and friends. Overall I really enjoyed Burn and I can't wait to see if Lincoln's book is next.

Burn is interesting. It surpass my expectation. Miss Claire is certainly an author I want to get to know more.
Her story telling is fun and full of smart banter.
Although the plot is bit weak, but somehow it works.

My only complain is more sexy scenes please. I want to see more sizzling heat between the characters. After all this is romance.

Overall, I enjoy this book.

Burn picks up with the heart-racing scene that ended the previous book and had me captivated before I even picked this book up. I was so ready to find out what would happen with Teague and Pepper, and I was definitely not disappointed.

In this conclusion the romance does take a little bit of a backseat to the suspense and mystery but it is certainly still there and evident. I loved seeing how Teague and Pepper were together as they tried to figure out a way to live their lives together. And I was actually really happy to see that their relationship was strong enough to be pushed to the back while we could focus more on finding out who the baddie was. Which I won't say anything about so I don't spoil it but just know it was written really well and it was fun to try and guess what was going to happen.

Overall, this duet is definitely a must read and that comes from someone that typically avoids cliffhangers. So for sure these books are worth taking a chance on.

I really enjoyed how Grahame Claire completed Teague and Pepper's story. The suspense was just as entertaining, which made this book such a page-turner. The Crash & Burn Duet was such a great read, I highly recommend reading it. Burn by Grahame Claire is a MUST read that will join the ranks of the BIBLIO-ELITE!!!

Burn by Grahame Claire is book 2 in the Crash and Burn duet. This books made me fall a little bit more in love with all things Teague. Burn picked right up where we left off in in Crash, answering many of our burning questions about Pepper's captor. This romantic suspense book had me guessing with every twist and turn, and also made my soft spot and love for dogs a little bit softer.

Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell once again narrate this audio, and do a fabulous job bringing Pepper and Teague to life. In Joe's performance you can feel all of Teague's protectiveness to care for the ones he loves no matter what it costs him. Maxine Mitchell once again makes me feel all the things with her performance of Pepper. I love Pepper's determination and passions, and Maxine portrays these qualities perfectly.

Overall, I enjoyed this audio and duet. If you love a romantic suspense with a hunky heroic firefighter, a caring brave heroine, all the family drama, secrets from the past, a devoted brother and sister, kisses in the night, finding comfort in a lover, and HEA that will make you smile and sigh, then you will love Pepper and Teague's story. I'm looking forward to Lincoln's story next from Grahame Claire.

What a perfect conclusion to the Crash & Burn Duet.
As you would expect in a duet please don’t pick up Burn without reading Crash because this book starts right where the cliffhanger ended in the first book. Burn has everything to keep you turning the pages, it’s full of passion, mystery, suspense and even murder.....
I was excited for this book because I fell in love with Teague, Pepper and the family and friends that surround them in Crash but Burn was so much more than I expected, I was captivated and there was no putting down until I had read the final line and that means you need to make sure you have time to finish what you start or else like me you will be up half the night reading.
Teague may be building a career as a firefighter but his father has other plans for him and that puts Pepper, Miss Adeline and her beloved rescue dogs in danger so what will it take for Teague to give in to family pressure and will the woman he loves be safe go from the father he hates.....
This book ticked all my boxes, I love Pepper, Miss Adeline and all the dogs from Gray Paws Rescue but it was the love that Teague has for Pipper that took this book to another level and what about that ending !!!! Omg I hope we don’t have long to wait for the next instalment from the Hollingsworth’s.

A nice conclusion to Teague & Pepper’s story. Didn’t love it but I didn’t dislike it either. Everything slowed considerably in this book but I still enjoyed the suspense and was eager to find out who was setting all those fires and trying to ruin Teague’s life. While the suspense was amped up, his romance with Pepper didn’t play as big a role as in the previous book.

Teague’s relationship with his siblings, Beau & Lincoln, still warmed my heart though. They shared a close bond and would do anything for each other. While I can never forgive their tyrant of a father for kicking poor animals, I do hate him less than I did in book 1. Still loved those rescue dogs and miss Adeline.

Book 1 left you with a major cliffy, which I hate. So, here we are book 2. This book is a suspenseful and ahas some mystery. Who is setting all the arson fires?! This was the slooooowest burn series I've ever read. There was VERY little romance, no touching, NO SEX (in either book), hardly any kissing. Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell put on a steller performance as always, but this was not something I expected from either of them, and was kinda disappointed. This duet is NOT worth the credits.

5 star review Burn ( Crash & Burn Duet #2) by Grahame Claire

After the cliff hanger ending in Crash, I couldn’t wait to dive in and see what Grahame Claire had in store for Teague and Pepper. If you haven’t read Crash then you need to STOP as it must be read before you read Burn. As with the previous book this was well written, with characters whose story you cannot help but be invested in.
They certainly got off to a bumpy start in Crash but as their story progressed it was heart warming to watch the relationship develop as it morphed from friendship to love; the chemistry between them sizzles. I loved how Teague and Pepper support one one another.
Miss Adeline, the sassy old woman who runs the centre added an extra layer of fun and humour to this story. Not only was there humour, but there was plenty of steam, banter, angst and the suspense built throughout.
Teague’s father is determined that he give up being a fire fighter and join the family business, it will put Pepper, Miss Adeline and the rescue shelter in danger forcing Teague to do whatever he can to protect them.
Both Teague and Pepper have baggage from their pasts but together than can withstand anything. Mysteries will be solved and the results will be unexpected. It was also great to see Beau, Lincoln and Teague together and the dynamic of their relation ships.
All in all this was a great conclusion to Teague and Pepper’s story and I cannot wait to see what is next from Graham Claire.

What a ride!
I love a good plot twist.
I was so sure I had all the answers knew who was responsible for what and why
🤷‍♀️ I'm kind of glad I was wrong
There are a couple of questions I still have that are unanswered though they really aren't relevant to the overall mystery of who or why just my curiosity

Pepper was trying to balance so many things and the weight of making the right choice to protect everyone she loved was crushing her.
Yet, she never gave up.

Tegan is all heart - his devotion to Pepper, the guys he works with, his siblings - Nothing he would not sacrifice for those he called family
... sigh a girl can dream

Great mystery/suspense read that doesn't lean too heavily in one direction or the other. The author balanced the mystery with the romance IDK how to word it. It flowed so smoothly drew me in and kept me engaged
An easy to follow storyline that delivers lots of laughs, light angst, and the sweetest romance all shrouded in a bit of mystery
I'm hoping for Lincoln's story next not only because OMG the ending but also because he is such a stuffy penguin

This was intense.

4,75 stars.

This is the second and final book in the Crash & Burn duet, but the background story is definitely not over.

There were so many things happening and I was kept on edge the whole time, afraid for Pepper, Teague and Miss Adeline and terrified for the dogs.
They couldn't be apart, but being all together could be fatal.
This fight seemed to be way beyond their strengths, they didn't even know what or whom they were fighting against, but going their separate ways, ignoring what they all built in that place together was not an option.
So fight together they all did.

They had to learn to trust again, they had to face their pasts and aknowledge their demons. But Pepper and Teague weren't alone. And as their love grew, so did their trust and connection.

And another time, the dogs ruled everything. I feel like I know Ash, Muffy, Sadie. I just wanted to hug them all.

Burn pucks up right where Crash left us hanging and the roller coaster doesn’t stop there!! Burn has everything to keep you reading…murder, arson, mystery, the dogs😍 and of course Teague & Pepper. The way they support and accept each other flaws and all is sweet.

I absolutely love the plot twist!! But OMG that ending🤯

2.75 stars. The drama. The villainy! Ugh. This turned into a soap opera with so many deaths and arsons and manipulations.

I frankly skipped from 54% to 85% just to see who did what and it’s was so over the top.

Also, the number of dogs is overwhelming. It went from cute to completely exhausting. Plus, none of them are trained.

Sheesh. It was ridiculous. Why am I finishing books that I should DNF?

I couldn't put this book down!

Wow! It was well worth the wait for the second book for the conclusion of this duet. Teague and Pepper are so great together. They respect each other and are supportive when the other is faced with bad memories from their past. I loved that Teague was the first to say that “I love you” and that he did it the moment he realized it even if it was not a romantic spot. I also liked that no matter how controlling Teague’s dad is, they do not let it get between them. We learn about Pepper’s childhood and how she ended up homeless. We find out who the arsonist that has been setting fires and resulted in several deaths is and it is a shocker. Beau, Lincoln and Teague grow closer as they navigate issues with their father. We do get a HEA at the end of this book, but now I want to see Beau and Lincoln get their HEA and dig deeper into why their father is so controlling. We get some hints throughout Crash and Burn, and it seems that their father really does have their best interests at heart and loves them even though he doesn’t go about it in a proper manner. Maybe by the end of the siblings stories, he will somehow redeem himself and see that there are better ways to be in his children’s lives.

We get more cameos from Daniel, Vivian, Mrs. Quinn and others from the Paths to Love series in this book.

Burn was the best conclusion to the Crash and Burn duet. While Crash set up an amazing cliffhanger, Burn built the suspense until everything around the characters was burning down.

I loved seeing Taegue being willing to sacrifice everything he loved for Pepper. We really get to see a different side of him in this book and I loved every moment. Pepper grew so much between then ending of Crash and the ending of Burn while finding answers to questions she never even knew she was looking for. I loved how her storyline played out and how she handled everything that was thrown at her from the beginning of this book till the end. Pepper is the best role model of strength and stability while going through a hard life.

I loved seeing Lincoln, Beau, and Teauge together again, I felt like this book really emphasized their relationship and their bond as siblings. I hope to see them in their own books sometime in the future!!

If you haven't read Crash I would recommend going and reading that one, but if you read Crash then I know you're already excited and wanting to read this book as soon as possible!!

Grahame Claire always has a way to pull you into the story. Teague Hollingsworth, a broody hot firefighter (Mr. October), and Pepper, a lonely woman, whose best friends are the greyhounds she rescues. Teague's father had other plans for his future, and it didn't include being a firefighter. Will his father use his threats to coerce Teague to join the family business?
Pepper and Teague, both have turmoil, and secrets in their lives. The more Teague Hollingsworth helps at the shelter, the more Pepper lets down her guard. I love how Grahame Claire slowly weaves this story and builds up Teague's and Pepper' relationship. Miss Adeline is a fiesty, flirty, kind older woman who started the Gray Paws rescue. She brings a light heartedness that had me laughing, There's fun, plenty of dogs, danger, secrets and a cliffhanger that has me wanting the next book now!

Burn starts off right where Crash left off. We find out what happened to Pepper at the end of Crash, and it means things are about to become even more difficult for this amazing couple.

Teague now knows what he will give up to protect his girls and his dogs, it doesn't matter if it's his career that he has to give up because Pepper, Miss Adeline and their fur babies are far more important. But is this the only reason they've been having so many obstacles thrown at them? Is there another outside force trying to make things harder for them?

I have so been loving Pepper, Teague, Miss Adeline and all the dogs in their rescue center. Burn cements their love, we get to see their attraction burn even hotter, and finally find the happiness they deserve. I will not soon forget this amazing couple!

Grahame Claire picks up right from the first book ended. Teague and Pepper are still sweet as ever and I enjoyed their scenes together. All the questions I was left with from book 1 were answered straight away. The suspense to finding out who the arsonist is comes near the end but the buildup to it was worth the wait. This is a great read and enjoyable. It is different from previous books I’ve read by this author but it was executed well.

This was a great conclusion to Pepper and Teague’s story! It kept me in suspense of who and what and how. It also really made me want Teague’s siblings stories!!! I loved how the dogs were such a huge part of the story and it made me want to own them all!!! I definitely still have lots of questions and I am instantly wanting to find out about the other stories!

"If I choose myself, then I choose you." Teague ❤

How could a book turn my heart to specs of dust and heal me at the same time? 😭😭😭❤❤❤ I can't put into words the emotions I felt while reading. I honestly didn't know whether to🫠🫠🫠 from the amount of love, support and found family bond this second installment contained, or cry until my eyes ran dry at the nightmarish events our MCs had to survive 💔💔💔 and THAT ENDING WAS A FREAKING BLOW!! HOW was that even POSSIBLE?! It did NOT make sense AT ALL!! Lincoln couldn't be MORE RESPECTFUL OF THE LAW IF HE TRIED! 😭💔

You ask me about loyalty or sacrifice and Teague will be the answer ❤ that man didn't have A SINGLE selfish bone in his body! He took the firefighter profession to a WHOLE other level 🔥🔥🔥 he was SO giving without expecting a thing in return. All because he'd rather be miserable at a job he HATED or literally LOSE HIS LIFE, rather than see the woman he loved unhappy 😭❤ sorry guys, Teague Hollingsworth's the new standard, and I WON'T apologize for it!! 😍❤🔥 Maybe it's too much to hope for, but I truly wish he and his father could settle their differences instead of constantly being at each other's throats 😞

I was both happy and DISTRAUGHT after learning more about Pepper's past 😭💔 it was no wonder that poor girl kept most people at arm's length in her life. I still can't digest how her own flesh and blood reduced her life and dreams to rubble. How emotionless and cruel do you have to be, to not only keep such a SKYSCRAPER sized secret from her, but leaving her with an even bigger debt to pay?! The shamelessness of her family left me jaw hanging! She was so genuinely kindhearted and generous, it was a total disgrace for her to be related to such a bunch of self-serving individuals 😤😭💔

I could barely handle the thought of anything happening to those sweet puppies when the fire broke out, being a pet owner myself, so read with caution or skip that part if it is a trigger for you.

Absolutely spell-binding conclusion to the Crash/Burn Duet.

Picking up from the Crash book, Miss Adeline finds Pepper is missing.  The dogs that she was on their nightly walk returned to the shelter without Pepper.  Her first call is to Teague and the search begins.  Pepper is drugged and a shroud on covering her head is put into a vehicle and taken she doesn't know where.  The shocker when she starts recovering is that it's Teague's overbearing father who kidnapped her.  So much goes through her mind.
The search for Pepper begins.
Teague get help from Lincoln and Beau his siblings and friends of Pepper.  Samuel Hollingsworth's motivation for kidnapping her is to have her convince Teague to go work for him at the family's company.  How warped is that!  This man will stop at nothing to get what he wants.
There is mystery, danger, so much familial love and from friends.  Things start happening with dead people being found and the burning down of buildings.  Teague and his firehouse buddy Burke have their own investigation in finding out who is starting the fires and killing innocent people.
Finally Teague manages to get his job back at his firehouse and he is so happy.  But makes ultimate sacrifice of giving up being a fireman to go work for his father in order to keep Pepper, Miss Adeline, the greyhound dogs and Grey Paws safe from the bid bad wolf.  But it doesn't last long.
Meanwhile Grey Paws gets burned down but it's a shocker when it's found out who is trying to kill Pepper, Miss Adeline and the greyhounds.  Unbelievable!Readers need to get this book.  It won't let you down.  It's a can't put down, pager turner book.
I loved, loved this book.  Grahame Claire just hit this book out of the ballpark.

I received an ARC of this book and also purchased it and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

There is definitely a lot more action and drama in this book. The mysterious arsonist is revealed and his/her reason for committing these acts are associated with Teague and his family. We learn more about Teague's father and his involvement in Teague and his siblings lives. We also get more scenes with Pepper and Teague's amazing friends. Teague's siblings were supportive and accepting of Pepper and his friends easily became hers. I absolutely loved the friendships in this duet. The romance is once again really cute and we do get more intimate scenes between them. Teague and Pepper would do anything for one another and I loved how much their actions proved just how much they cared. All the questions from book one are answered and we get an in-depth insight into Pepper's past life. Overall, it was a good ending to this duet. I enjoyed the romance, mystery, friendships and of course the cute dogs. Also, there is a reason this duet is named "Crash and Burn" because the plot includes fires, the risks firefighter take by saving others from burning buildings and the after effects.

This romance suspense series by new to me author Grahame Claire is brilliant and will have you on the edge of your seat.
This book had me captivated from the very beginning and even though this slow burn romance was so slow I thought it would never happen and it is PG rated, the suspense from the family drama and an arsonist had my heart in my mouth for a good portion of the books, however, it was the dogs that totally stole the show.
I fell hopelessly and completely for Teague Hollingsworth, after all what’s not to love about a hot firefighter who is also kind, caring and a gentleman.
Pepper is a beautiful woman with the kindest heart that is made entirely of gold. Pepper runs the local dog rescue centre and had a not so perfect meet cute with Teague while walking one of the rescue Greyhounds. Destiny had ideas for this couple and kept throwing them together until they became besotted with each other.
Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell really are a powerhouse duo who never fail to bring the characters to life and have us listeners feeling all the emotions through their performances. Joe and Maxine are the perfect Teague and Pepper. I loved Joe taking on the sweet, caring firefighter and Maxine was her usual brilliant self as the sweet, innocent animal lover.
This series takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions that ultimately leads to a HEA. This duet is absolutely worth the credits, loved this series!

The story in the second installment of this duet starts where the first book ended. The transition from the first to the second book was very smooth. I felt where the first book had more of a romance element, the second book is more of a mystery or a sort of whodunit. It was less of romance.

However, I loved the fact that throughout the story the author has done a commendable job at showing the characters love for dogs in the dog shelter. In both the books you would find that love for dogs is a very massive element. In fact, dogs are the reason that both Teague and Pepper meet. This meeting eventually leads to them falling hard for each other.

The manner in which the mystery unfolded in the second installment of the series was pretty impressive. It kept me guessing. Further, Teague's need to protect Pepper was something I completely adored. He is a supporting and a very perceptive boyfriend.

On the other hand, in some instances of the story, I felt it was dragging. In addition, I felt it lacked romance between the characters. In the second book I was hoping for the relationship between the two characters to evolve and a lot more passion than the first.

Nevertheless, I felt that this duet was a pleasant read.

Burn, the conclusion to Grahame Claire’s Crash and Burn Duet is everything you could ask for in a book. After leaving us in shock at the conclusion of Crash, with Pepper’s kidnapping, our hearts start beating again in Burn! Although She wasn’t hurt , her kidnapper, Teague’s father threatened Paws of Love and Miss Adeline if she didn’t persuade Teague to start working for Hollingsworth Industries. When Teague finds out it was his father he confronts him, but his father stands firm. He’s to start immediately in the mail room. It’s definitely a power trip on his father’s part. Teague agrees in order to keep Pepper, Paws of Love and Miss Adaline safe. There continue to be mysterious fires set all around them. Teague suspects his father, when he sees one of his cars at every fire scene. Could he be the arsonist? If so, several people have died in the s fires. It’s unthinkable that his father is responsible! Burn will have you one the edge of your seat, wondering where the threat is coming from. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and can’t wait to learn more about Teague’s brother Lincoln and his sister Beau!
