Misfit Bay #1

Shift in Magic

Rate this book
Wonky witchcraft, shifter magic, and romance run wild in Misfit Bay, Louisiana.

Workaholic Clara has had enough of the corporate rat race. She yearns for more in life—companionship, laughter, and dare she say love? Leaving all she knows, she moves to Misfit Bay with two friends to start over. Quickly, Clara learns that the climate isn’t the only thing steamy in the South.

Clint is a broken wolf shifter who can’t control his shifting nature. During each full moon, he is forced into his animal form and not released until days later. Outcast from his pack, his life has been lonely until he meets the lovely Clara. Hope grows in his heart that maybe his loneliness might come to an end.

When Clara uses witchcraft to help Clint’s shifting, a sinister plot comes to light that not only pulls them apart, but brings evil to their unsuspecting town. Time is running out for Clara and her friends to figure out how their powers can save the man she loves. If they fail, her new love life in Misfit Bay could come to a premature end.

Loved this start into a new series.

When Clara, Annie, and Maggie, meet they all realize that they share a common bond: they're witches.

Annie is the more practicing witch, she learned everything from her mom and grandma. Clara is still a newbie witch, and Maggie can cast spells. But when they are around each other, their magic gets stronger.

Annie wants to move out of the city. After some convincing they end up in Mischief Bay. There they buy and restore an old cafe. Maggie bakes, Clara uses her business skills to run the place, and Annie is great with the customers.

What the girls never expect to meet are two wolf shifters without a pack. Clint and Dennis were shunned from their pack and a curse was put on them so they couldn't control their shift. So when there was a full moon, the boys would go hide in the woods for 48 hours until they shifted back.

When Clara accidentally breaks the spell on Clint along with Dennis, it alerts the pack. Clara is newly mated to Clint. When Clint doesn't show up for a dinner date he made with Clara and she can't reach him, something is wrong. Clara starts feeling Clint's anxiety she knows that he's in trouble.

The girls are there for each other no matter how dangerous it is.

A must read!

Shift in Magic is the first book in the new series Misfit Bay. In this book we meet Annie, Clara & Maggie along with wolf shifters Clint & Dennis.

Annie, Clara & Maggie are 3 women from very different backgrounds that are drawn together by their magical abilities. They all feel the need to find a fresh start & are drawn to the little town of Misfit Bay.

Clint & Dennis have lived in Misfit Bay since the got away from their old pack. They can't control their shifting & know nothing about being a 'normal' shifter but they get by as best they can. Until they run across 3 new residents in town.

This first book in the series centers on Clara, a burned out former exec & Clint, but the 3 other characters play major roles in the story. I admit that at first it was a little confusing as to who the main characters really were - but that gets settled quickly. This is a stand alone book but it 'feels' like there might be an on-going story line threaded thru the series. We'll just have to wait & see.

A wonderful read, great characters and a wonderful scenario that’s great reading
Clara is a typical workaholic and she has finally decided that she has had more than enough of this life, she wants to move to Misfit Bay where her two friends are, she is up for the change even if she is somewhat nervous.
Clint is a wolf shifter who has been keeping himself to himself, he is not a typical shifter as he has lost the ability to shift as and when he wants to change in to his animal form or back into his human form when he reverts back. Every full moon he loses any control he has over himself and he wishes things could be different, hopefully with Clara this may be a possibility.
Clara uses witchcraft which she believes that this may possibly be able to help, she is trying to save Clint and as she has fallen in love with him will use her magic however, she can to bring his shifter half back in line if at all possible.
I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.

Annie, Clara, Maggie & Clint and Dennis + one

They were just acquaintances yet they had a secret--they each were a witch. Annie was a bit more experienced while Maggie and Clara had much to learn. Another thing each was dissatisfied with was their life in the city. After joining together to work on their magic they decided to make a new life somewhere else--Misfit Bay here they come.

Each has a different feeling about men and relationships. Two find interest right away. Little did they know they were forming bonds with wolf shifters.

A fun read with danger and shakey characters. There's going to be a surprise for Maggie who may no longer be guyless. Their magic could help them with the problem that kept the guys from their pack.

Fun. STEAMY. Great characters.

I really wanted to like this book but I didn’t as much as thought I would. I have absolutely no idea why. I usually like books that are single person pov or the main couple but this book is written in the point of view of multiple characters and by the time I was halfway through none of them seemed to have much depth to them. I struggled with this book and I truly think it’s because of the multiple characters povs. It’s a shame because I really liked the idea and thought it would be brilliant. I’m positive others will love it, it just wasn’t the right type of book for me. Still really like books by this author though so will read future books.

Annie is the outgoing single looking for a good time, Maggie is a divorcee learning how to navigate the world again on her own, and CEO Clara is a burned-out workaholic looking for something. The three are practicing witches when Annie suggests that they move to another town Maggie and Clara are shocked until she explains and shows them the brochure of a quaint little town in Louisiana called Misfit Bay. Lots of fun, magic, drama, surprises, and mischief. This book keeps you entertained to the last page. I read this book via BookFunnel without obligation. I volunteered an honest review.

Annie, Clara & Maggie meet and become close friends over their budding connection to witchcraft.
The 3 friends practice their craft together and deepen their bond.
Soon after, they decide to start over fresh in Misfit Bay.
After opening a business the ladies meet a couple wolf shifters who were unknowningly cursed.
Annie, Clara & Maggie use their magic to remove the curse and trigger a violent reaction.

I enjoyed this story. It had a few themes: friendship, sisterhood, magic, shifter magic, fated mates, romance, suspense, secrets, and danger.

I also want to know more about this sheriff.

Clara and her two besties and fellow witches- Maggie and Annie- left behind their unfulfilling lives and made a move to Misfit Falls. Witches who did their best magic together, if their magic worked at all. A whim? Fate? Or guided by the stars, they all felt compelled to go there and do this together. Clint and fellow wolf shifter Dennis, had their own set of problems. Shift? Yes. At will? Nope. Clint and Clara have something very good together. Misfit Falls- their new adopted home-home to new friends and lovers, secrets and something extra special. A good 1st book in a new series by Milly Taiden!

First book in a new series. Three women have been brought together by fate. They never name their relationship but they form their own sisterhood of witches. They become a family and decide to start over in Misfit Bay. Several things just seem to fit into place and life and the future is looking good. When two men walk into the coffee shop everything will change and life will be a lot more interesting. The story has some magic and plenty of shifters. The romance is unique for each of them as they each have their own ideas of men and relationships.

It was good book very enjoyable to read. It’s nice to make a difference to Milly’s normal books I read. The only thing I found difficult and which stopped the book being 5 stars is it wasn’t always clear as to which character you was on all the time sometimes it seemed as if you was on several characters at one time which I found a little confusing. Still with that I thought it was an enjoyable read and hope to see more from this series.

This is going to be a great new series. Was pleasantly surprised at the different take in the characters view throughout the story. Got to know all three women’s feelings and reasons for ending up in Misfit Bay. This story was mainly centered around Annie and Clint. So much was packed into this story, drama, uncontrolled shifters and new witches learning their magical limits. Can’t wait to read about Maggie and Clara’s adventures.

Interesting new series from Milly Taiden. Three women from different backgrounds have witchcraft in common. Becoming friends and moving to Misfit Bay brings new challenges and excitement to their lives. This book starts off in a very hot manner with The introduction of Annie, although this book is really about Clara. Definitely grabs your attention though. Helping Clint brings action and danger to Clara.

This is a very explicit story regarding 3 Witches hi pool their resources and move to Misfit Bay Louisiana to start over . This story deals directly with Clint and Clara , with some of their friends along for the ride. Mistakes are made, magic causes the problems, then comes to the rescue ( of a sort). If you like your Paranormal Romance on the scorching side, past problems solved and the chance for Happily Ever After this series is for you !! Best read in order. 4⭐️‘s.

2 out of three ain't bad

I really liked Clara and Maggie, they are fun down to earth characters. Annie just kind of want to smack upside the head and tell her to knock it off ... but just get the feeling that the reasons for her behavior will be explained in an upcoming book.
I really liked that this book focused on female leads and that the male leads didn't even show up for awhile too. It allowed their personalities to come out outside of the context of relationships.
Looking forward to the next book.

This Book 1 in this series was a fun read. I will admit I was kind of confuse in the beginning on what/who this story was focus on just going by the blurb. The more and more I got into the story, It's centered around three friends who are witches finding their own in a new town. There's hookups, mating and shifting and magic. Very entertaining...I enjoyed it.

I'm still amazed that Ms. Taiden is still able to write a great story that doesn't feel like I've read it before after so many books already, for that I will continue to read her work. As for this book omg Clara and Clint were super cute together, and can I just say witches and shifters oh my. I loved this read and I am super excited to see what comes next.
