Stick an Orc in It

Rate this book
I was born and bred an Orc warrior.
My Ax has drunk the blood of many foes.
I have rank and prestige, and yet…
I am alone.

Eileen is as beautiful as she is enigmatic.
She’s here to mend my chief’s broken body,
But will she break my heart as well?
I will do anything to protect her.
Even from herself.

Because as clever as Eileen may be,
There’s one thing she has failed to realize.
She is mine. Now and forever.

Book 1

I totally loved the lead female character. She has a wicked sense of humor, that I really enjoyed reading. I am enjoying the various situtaions these couples find themselves, and find love.

Pleasant enough, just not a story I was pulled into.
The storyline was promising, with the change in human fortunes regressing back to pre technology times.
But lacking world building. I would have preferred more background and less sex scenes.
Just too many silly errors to ignore. Wrong words used, names mixed up and just silly things like - Your MOTHER TOLD ME becomes HE ALSO TOLD ME in the same paragraph.
But what really put me off but was luckily right at the end, was the killing of the tiger, to use it’s heart as a mating blessing.
I don’t care if they are running rampant, in this day and age of near extinction, that was a disgusting addition.

Interesting story

I wanted to give this more stars, but I struggled with a couple of things that could be easily fixed. Three of the characters change names and make things very confusing. The orc was constantly changing between Haizen and Kaizen, sometimes in the same paragraph. Eileen was Emily and Eileen's sister swapped between Jane and June so much over a couple of pages I'd started to think there were two sisters. A couple of times, wrong usage of words confused me. One sentence, something like: he preserved in his search - made me stare for ages before I worked out the word should be persevered. Like I said, I wanted to give more stars - I mostly enjoyed the story, I'm just left wondering why the authors didn't read or edit it before publishing it.

It was ok but I definitely had to switch to screen reading by 50% because it wasn’t really holding my interest. I didn’t really like how it was written & it was slow to get anywhere (weird because it’s so short but I think it’s because the romance took a back seat in my opinion)

Very entertaining story. I especially enjoyed the bit about the fertility symbols at the end. Classic! The characters in this story are very interesting, and easy to become invested in. I like that the story take place over a week or two because it's enough time to really believe the connection between the main characters has formed as it had, but not so long that the story feels drawnout. I like the bit of backstory provided about how the orcs and elves arrived. It's enough to give you an idea without it taking over the present story/time. I really enjoyed reading this and look forward to reading the next book.

While we definitely get a look at how vicious and blood thirsty Orc's can be, Haizen shows us a whole different side. He is honest, loyal and has a huge heart. Also, he's the complete opposite of Eileen. She has made a life out of deceit and lies. If Haizen finds out what she's up to, it could destroy the trust they have built. Must read to see if these two find their HEA. This was a great read, full of amazing characters. I'm so glad it is just the start of a new series. Can't wait for more. I received an advanced copy and this is my voluntary opinion.

Our world has changed. Technology is no more but a fairytale. Orcs came through a portal and everything changed. Now the dark elves have followed. Haizen is an orc that believes in the truth and protecting his people. Now his leader needs the help of a doctor to survive. Eileen and those that follow her father steal and lie to survive. Now she will have to pull off the biggest lie of her life with the orcs. Can she do it and live? Plenty of twists will keep you guessing and the tension only increases.

It's A good start to a promising series!

I enjoyed the way the story unraveled and how the characters grew. Eileen comes off as a kind of badash reprobate, while the orc, I'm going to call him Big H, he has all the best traits a man could have. It was a little twisted, but I liked it a lot. The editing was a little sloppy, it could have used a good proofread, but it didn't kill the pace with glaring messes. The action and tension built steadily and I'm looking forward to reading more! Orcs, they're kind of my thing now, lol.

I enjoyed this story, but I will say I was surprised to see so many editing errors in a Milly Taiden book (yes, I know some were intentional due to the time since the Before Times). The end of the book got away from them with four chapters after the climax, which could have easily been reduced to two. Also, not the book itself, but the preview for the next book was just a repeat of this book's final chapter. I expect better editing from Milly as a general rule, though I know she's pumping books at an astounding rate, so perhaps the editing is getting lost in the shuffle.

This was an interesting first book in the series with lots of action, deceit and falling in love. Eileen is sent by her father to act as a doctor to help heal the chief of the Orcs. Haizen is second in command and at their first meeting, he feels a spark immediately. But Melody's real mission is to steal a gem from the Orcs for the evil Dark Elves. Haizen is suspicious of some wrongdoing. Things start to get a little difficult but they work together and get their happily ever after. I purchased the paperback and it needs some good proofreading.

Wow! I’m so excited that Monster Orcs of Protheka will be a series, because I could not get enough! I love a good Orc tale and this one does not disappoint. Haizen the Just is a sweet alpha who is falling for Doctor Eileen Who except, Doctor Who is hiding a secret. The slow burn romance is weaved beautifully throughout a twisting, turning plot of intrigue. Excellent and I am looking forward for more!❤️❤️❤️❤️

There is no insta love here. There is attraction at first glance but it took days for love to develop between our MCs so expect the lovey dovey at the later part. But you can see in every act of our MMC that he deeply cares for our FMC. He is in love after all and I believe that she is too.

There's betrayal and a battle galore. I almost thought there would be no hea for our MCs but they pulled through.

Not only was this a great way to start a series but it was a fantastic collaboration between two talented authors. This story was well written and filled with an engaging story line along with endearing characters that kept me reading from start to finish. I can't wait to see what these authors have in store for the next installment.

I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

Too sweet for me

This is not my thing. I don't like overly dominant males & I now know I don't like really emotional & squishy males either. For an Orc, who starts out really promising, Hansen turns into a poetic regency type romantic. He spouts off more lovey dovey gunk than I've ever read before. I just flashed through to the end. The book is well written, except for some typos, & there is nothing wrong with it. I just don't seem to like the overtly romantic stuff. 🤷🏼‍♀️

😆😁😁😁🤩

The earth is in a mess … the Orcs have arrived. Their destructive takeover has created an aftermath of chaos and a more dystopian world emerges. Now there are even more issues about to emerge stemming from the powerful Dark Elves.
Danger, deception, and drama are on the menu today!

Good story...

Overall it's a good story and I love Milly Taiden, however, there are some inconsistencies that throws you out of the flow of the story. Like Haizen's name sometimes changing to Kaizen. Or the Burning Sun changing to Crimson Sun. Otherwise I like the story line and the characters.

Simply wonderful

What a wonderful story. I love this new world milly has created, I could almost visualize it. It was a great and fun read for me. I love the gypsy style family living she described it was a good twist. I like to read about post apoplectic worlds and this one beautifully created. I so cannot wait to read the next book

ok

The book was okay. It was more of just a story with sex thrown in at 87%. They don’t really connect or anything. Just her trying to find what she was sent for and them randomly interacting. Then suddenly she loves him. She even calls the lead character by the wrong name in one scene.

I really wanted to like this but I'm dnfing halfway through. There's too many inconsistencies and errors. The world building was a bit confusing and seemed like they threw in big or obscure words just do to it. While at the same time having a bunch of errors, like using wrong words or even the wrong names of characters.

I liked the characters but I wanted more physical descriptions of them besides our heroine being “lithe” and our Orc hero being “big and green” I couldn’t get a mental picture of the two of them.
There were quite a few spelling errors too, but all and all I liked the story. Our hero was a sweetheart and our heroine was a sassy little badass. I will check out more books from this series.

STOPPED READING IT!

I stopped in Chapter 2 when it got to the point of a family of triggers. She wasn't even a real doctor and I thought that would be interesting story. I didn't want to read about their tricks and knowing shell be officially caught. I liked the character of Haizen he seemed to be true but I can't say the same for Eileen.

I really liked the plot of the story and the pace of it. I'd give it more stars except there were quite a few mistakes in the book (wrong words in certain places, etc...). There were also confusing name changes, like going back between Jane and June for the same character. It made it slightly difficult to read at some points, but overall I think it's a good book and I enjoyed it.

Good

It was a great story my only problem was that the name issue. His name was Haizen but in other parts on the book it's Kaizen. Drove me crazy. But the story line was good and loved the HEA

Brilliant

Being a new topic to me it took a little bit of getting into.
But have no fear its well worth the read. I'm sure that if you like paranormal romances then you'll love this book too.
I did receive this book as an ARC but this is my honest review.

Needs editing and some parts to make more sense. Loved the story and the characters most of the time, just hard to follow when some parts don’t make sense cause of bad editing

Crimson Sun Clan

Liked the plot. Liked the hero and heroine. Liked the story.
Found the typos, misspellings, run on words distracting. Also, the preview of Orc’s Toy is just the end of Stick An Orc In It repeated. These errors are frustrating to me as a reader.

I just couldn't read this. It's not for me. 2 1/2 stars ( I round up ). Errors abound in this book. The storyline was okay, character development and world building are largely lacking. This is the part where I go look for new books by Ruby Dixon.

This was an okay read. As the first in a series it was well written but the content is not such that makes me want to read the next installment.
