And perhaps the most pressing of " Is this the end?" In these hope-filled pages, bestselling author, pastor, and respected Bible teacher Dr. David Jeremiah focuses our attention not on the problems at hand, but on the hand of God. Dr. David Jeremiah, founder of Turning Point Radio and Television Ministries and senior pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church, felt God’s calling on his life at a very early age. Born February 13, 1941 in Toledo, Ohio, Dr. Jeremiah was raised in a family deeply committed to ministry. At the age of eleven, Dr. Jeremiah and his family moved to Dayton, Ohio where his father, Dr. James T. Jeremiah, was the Pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church, and in 1953 became the President of Cedarville College in Cedarville, Ohio.

As Dr. Jeremiah was sensitive to God’s leading in his life, he followed in his father’s footsteps. In 1963, Dr. Jeremiah received a Bachelor of Arts from Cedarville College. In that same year, Dr. Jeremiah married his college sweetheart, Donna Thompson who also was attending Cedarville College as a business major. He went on to earn a Masters degree in Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1967. He completed additional graduate work at Grace University and was granted the Doctor of Divinity degree from Cedarville College in 1981.

In 1969, Dr. Jeremiah began Blackhawk Baptist Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and developed a Christian school grades K through 12. In the 12 years he served as pastor, Blackhawk Baptist Church grew from 7 families to 1300 members. He also launched The Bible Hour television program.

Dr. Jeremiah heeded God’s call, and in 1981 he and his family moved to California where he became the senior pastor of Scott Memorial Baptist Church, now Shadow Mountain Community Church.

Shadow Mountain Community Church is one of the largest churches in San Diego County. It is also the home of Southern California Seminary and Christian Unified Schools.

As Dr. Jeremiah began his ministry at Shadow Mountain, he felt God’s calling to continue the broadcast ministry he started in Fort Wayne. In 1982, Turning Point Ministries became a reality.

Today, Turning Point's 30-minute radio program is heard nationally and internationally on over 1800 stations and translator/satellators. In recognition of Dr. Jeremiah’s commitment to teaching the Word of God, he received the Broadcaster of the Year Award in 1999 from the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB), in August 2002, received the Award of Merit from the Western Chapter of National Religious Broadcasters for Excellence in Broadcasting and Faithfulness in Service, and in 2006 Turning Point received the Best Radio Teaching Program Award. Dr. Jeremiah has served on the Board of Directors for the NRB since 1996.

Turning Point launched a television program in 1982 in San Diego and went nationwide in 2000. Now seen around the world through cable and satellite technology, as well as on terrestrial stations all across the United States, conservative estimates suggest that close to 200 million homes around the world have access to Dr. Jeremiah's Bible teaching each week. Turning Point Television offers a half-hour Bible study message and a full hour worship service with the same great preaching. Carried on several national and international networks such as TBN, ION, and INSP, Turning Point Television has most recently been added to Middle East TV Network and BET, the Black Entertainment Network.

Dr. Jeremiah is a sought-after conference speaker for organizations around the country. He frequently speaks at Cedarville College, Dallas Theological Seminary, Moody Bible Institute, Billy Graham Training Center, Phil Waldrep’s Senior Adult Celebrations and numerous NFL, NBA and Baseball chapels.

Along with his speaking schedule around the country, Dr. Jeremiah also finds time to fulfill another passion in his life, writing. His books are always gripping and right to the point. Some of his books include Escape the Coming Night, The Power of Encouragement, What the Bible Says About Angels, Prayer The Great Adventure, which brought him The Gold Medallion Award in 1998, God In You, Gifts from God

The World of the End is Dr. David Jeremiah's look at how current happenings in our world match with the prophecies of Jesus in Matthew 24. Dr. Jeremiah posits that what is described in Matthew 24 also mirrors the beginning judgments in Revelation, with today's events being the beginnings of the birth pangs. In other words, what is happening today is the birth pangs that will increase over time until the Church is raptured and the Tribulation begins.

The prophecy in Matthew 24 is broken down into phrases, with each phrase studied and supported by other scripture. It's a warning of what's to come, and reminder of how Christians should live and relate to others as we approach the end times.

It is an excellent read, and one every Christian should get. If you are not a Christian - if most of the words above meant nothing to you - read this anyway to understand what's coming. Reach out to a local Christian church. Call Dr. Jeremiah's ministry, Turning Point, for help. Send me a message, and I'll explain it. Grab a bible and read the book of Mark.

Family friendly.

The World of the End by Dr. David Jeremiah is a very timely and through explanation of what is referred to as the Olivet Discourse referenced in scripture. The books of Matthew (24:4-51); Mark (13:5-37) and Luke (21:7-38) each cover this teaching of Christ prompted by the question from his disciples, " When will you return and what will be the signs of your coming"? For the purposes of his book Dr. Jeremiah is referencing the scripture from Matthew 24. Dr. Jeremiah does a wonderful job of explaining these coming signs from a 21st century view point. And yet in all these worrisome & frightening signs that are referenced, Dr. Jeremiah never lets the reader lose sight of the hope that is found in Christ as our savior. Wonderful faith building book I highly recommend!!!

In The World of the End, Dr. Jeremiah studies the signs of the end times through the lens of teachings from Jesus Himself. Using the beginning of the Olivet Discourse in Matthew 24:1-14 as the framework for the book, He takes us to the whole of scripture to show that while it is not the end of the world yet (although it is very near), we are in “the world of the end” as time is quickly counting down to the imminent rapture of the church and the tribulation age. The signs in Matthew 24 are playing out today in our world exactly as the Bible said they would.

Biblical prophecy is a topic that many Christians shy away from because it can feel heavy and hard to understand. But Dr. Jeremiah presents the topic in an engaging way that is both sobering yet very encouraging and full of hope. As we see our world at large and our culture in particular spinning further out of control every day, we should not be surprised or downhearted. There is much cause for confidence as we witness prophecy being fulfilled before our eyes. And there is a challenge for us as believers to not give up or give in, but to positively and lovingly influence those around us with the gospel and be faithful until the very end.

I recommend this book to anyone, Christian or otherwise, who want to be prepared for what is coming, be equipped to encounter what is already happening, and, most importantly, be ready to follow and endure to receive the rewards in eternity.

"What will the world of the end look like" some ask, some wonder, and some just want to know what to do. David Jeremiah walks us through Jesus's words in the beginning of the Olivet Discourse in Matthew 24:1-14, to the signs of the end of times and signs of Jesus coming back. David Jeremiah walks us through what prophecy is, why it's important to know, what it says, and then goes into this passage, explaining each of the items and shows us the way forward in explaining what the world will be, (in a world of deception, be honest/ In a world of war, be calm/ in a world of disasters, be confident - these are examples and chapter titles within the book), and how we are to be within this world, and how we can then move forward with hope and even gives us scripture at the end of each chapter that helps us be honest, calm, confident, etc. Very easy to read without being overly scholarly and yet it's still very deep and informative. Highly recommend this.

I like David Jeremiah, straight forward speaker, preaches love and most importantly, not political. he is conservative of course, and like many (but thankfully not all) popular preachers in conservative churches, has a firm belief in End Times prophecy (Escatalogy as it's called with bug church words) and its important to remember my own views of biblical interpretation are not the only. Anyway, people get too caught up in "End Times" when I honestly feel it's a total guess (and a bit of an over-dramatically creative interpretation), but it was good to remember what a lof of Christians, and a lot of newer ones, believe, even if the biblical context is a wee bit loose. The message of how we deal with struggles and hard times, however, is solid and what makes this a worthwhile listen.

Dr. David Jeremiah does it again with another great book and guide as to how Christians should be living in today’s world. Using the Olivet Discourse as a framework, we not only better understand what’s ahead, but learn how to face an uncertain future with confidence and hope. He tells us we’re not to be frightened, but faithful as we look forward to Christ’s return. This is one book that I plan to keep near and go back and review periodically in order to maintain a godly perspective in today’s trying times.

Thankful that The World of the End by Pastor Jeremiah arrived today. This new book shows us how to have a Spiritual Foundation. Jesus said that there will be betrayal, earthquakes, famines, lawlessness, lies, plagues and Wars will Escalate. We don't have to settle for coping with the times. We have hope as sure as sunshine.

Dr. Jeremiah does a great job of instilling urgency in the reader. The subject matter for me was uncomfortable though not wrong.
Just because I didn't like the subject doesn't mean he isn't right.
(Okay that's a double negative and could be confusing.) I mean to say, though the subject is important, it made me uncomfortable.
This is a good study on how to walk in these dark times.

If you are upset with what's happening in the world today, then this book is or you. Dr. Jeremiah talks about the world at the end of time and how to cope with today's disasters and prophecies to come. It's encouragement for the believer and a word to heed for the nonbeliever. Enlightening and interesting.

In his book The World of the End, Dr. David Jeremiah focuses on the promises that God has made to us. Instead of focusing on this world’s problems, Dr. Jeremiah shows us through the Bible what Jesus promised us and what He expects from us. I voluntarily read and reviewed this complimentary copy of this well-written, hopeful book that I will refer to often on my own spiritual journey.

Good read on the Olivet Discourse in Mark 13 and how it impacts our world today and the end times. We need to be aware of what is happening around us, as it has probably been previously prophesied in the Bible.
