Curiosity didn't kill this cat but it did use up a few of his nine lives. Meet PUD, the cool Aussie cat, whose WANNABE attitude gets him into all sorts of trouble. Follow his adventures as he struggles to find himself and his home at the same time.
Brian Murphy is a Baby Boomer advocate and the founder and editor of BONZA (Baby Boomers of NZ and Australia) a Baby Boomer information website: www.bonza.com.au
He strongly believes that governments and industries are failing to adequately address the needs of the Boomer generation and the impact their impending retirement from the workforce will have on the economy and society by not having mature age policies. Since 1998 he has addressed these issues with thousands of Baby Boomers across New Zealand through his organisation, Grey Skills, and Australia through BONZA, by presenting well-balanced information sessions to the community on the pitfalls of an ageing population and advising how Boomers can plan for the future by acquiring the knowledge and skills to do so meaningfully.
Brian works to equip Boomers with the skills necessary to tackle the extension of their careers, re-entry into the workforce and to prepare financially and mentally for a longer than predicted retirement. He has had great success with thousands of Boomers, from general managers to drug addicts, assisting them to move forward with their lives no matter what their history is.
“It’s all about the future,” he states, “and never giving up!” He wants Baby Boomers to participate economically and socially if nothing else and have a BONZA life.
One of two children's books I have been wanting to read....
Pud: The Wannabe Cat is about a cat down under that is meant to be based off real events when he vanished for two weeks from the family and the adventures that he may have dealt with in trying to get back home. Up until those adventures and all throughout them the reader gets a chance to learn so much about Pud, what he does and how much he at one points or another wants to be something that he isn't, which is quite relatable.
The story is charming and cute with no actual hard words thrown in so younger readers may definitely enjoy getting to know Pud as this puss is also given some cat-voice, which is printed out in yellow font.
What makes this book so relatable to me though are the brightly colored and detailed illustrations including especially Pud who reminds me of my Ellie-belle. Furthermore the animals are all realistic (only Theo the small boy doesn't seem to have been illustrated correctly) and textured that you can almost feel them through the page while the art style does change to provide an almost sponge-looking texture for when he is rushing to get into cover.
Pud is definitely a cute story, one full of drama and a story of family so would make for a great story for children who like animals, especially cats.
Curiosity got this Australian cat lost on walkabout!🐈
3.5-4🌟 stars This story started out pretty tame with a contented cat interacting with his human family but picked up around midpoint when Pud gets lost. Then the Australian side of the story kicks in as Pud encounters some wildlife as he searches for home. I think small ones will like the cat's story.
This is a cute children's book about life as it is through the eyes of a cat who gets lost and goes through various adventures until he finds his way home. The illustrations are created in a traditional way with colored pencils by the artist Keith Blake. It is a lovely book for little curious boys! 😊🌟📚
what a cute thought, an idea of what i cat named "Pud" did while missing for 2 wks. so funny. creative. imagination. illustrations are fun!! check it out. what is nice the book is a large size on the kindle FIRE screen. i appreciate that and the reason for 5 stars instead of my normal 4 because that small sized illustration and text is a real not fun read. just saying. check it out. fun read.
If cats could read this would be their bedtime book!
This book is adorable and the illustrations fit perfectly! Pud is the story of a cat wanting to be brave and through happenstance gets the opportunity to go on adventure exploring just that.
I absolutely loved the simplicity of the tale and beautiful illustrations. This easily belongs on every cat owners bookshelf.
Cat looks like my bear!! He could be my cats identical twin and not just in looks bc bear is just like this cat! This book was funny and sad and entertaining and happy! 5yr old didn't move or speak the whole book!!
This was a really charming short story. I love the sketchy art style of the illustrations and the observations of Pud interacting with the world. It works well for kids to make associations I think. I also adore that this was based on a true story. It’s like a nice little Easter egg!
Pud, the family cat, gets lost one day and we then follow his way back home through the forest as he meets many different animals who could be food or the enemy. It's sweet and based on a true story, but perhaps written with a vocabulary that hasn't had children in mind. The illustration style is also a bit inconsistent although mostly nice.
