Until Cody hits a man with his truck on a dark, lonely stretch of highway, and he’s shocked to discover it’s the town mayor… whose funeral they attended the week before!

Cody and Demetrius are back in the thick of things, this time trying to figure out why the dead in Parson’s Hollow won’t stay buried. The situation quickly takes an ominous and deadly turn when multitudes of the undead close in on them and those they love. Audiobook review

Story: 5 stars
Audio: 4.5 stars

I’m all caught up on this series in audio. I’ve loved listening to this series! I was t sure about the narration at first but it grew on me and honestly it’s not bad at all. I had to slow it down for every book and some of the voices are talked with his jaw shut plus the way he pronounced certain words irked me. Overall though those aren’t huge issues. The main characters voices are wonderful and o will now hear them in my head when I’m reading the new book.

I was so happy to see that the Critter Catchers were getting a new series! I loved Cody & Demetrius and all of their friends and family in the previous series and it was fun catching up with them.

These books and characters just work for me. I love the writing and the ease of reading every single adventure. I don’t know what other monsters will arise in the future but these guys have been through so much and still are funny and witty. The town has endearing characters that make the books even more fun.

This book takes places about 2 years after the last book in the Critter Catchers series. There are a lot of scars, both external and internal, for Cody and Demetrius, and they are still working their way through feelings of the past. Their relationship is what makes these stories so good. They were best friends before they were more and that love and respect is always at the forefront. The way they love each other always has me smiling!

I am very happy that Hank Edwards is writing more for these characters. I recommend you read these books in order starting with the first in the Critter Catchers series.

Uncooperative critters, good friends, a zombie uprising With lots of thrills chills and fun to keep you intrigued all the way through the book. A really fun read which I found okay. This was my first experience diving into this world. I picked it up for a lil Halloween read. I absolutely loved Demmy and Cody especially their chemistry with each other. I could see there was some history between some of the characters. So I’m going to have to go back and read the others to understand the chemistry and what went on. If u read the others before this I could see the appeal.

What happens when you run over a dead man? Cody and Demmy are about to find out.

Even in the midst of death, zombies, and chaos, our intrepid heroes save the day. “Can I just admit right now that I’m tired of being so intrepid all the time?”

They try to stay away from the strange stuff, they really do. But as a reader I want the strange stuff because this town is so entertaining. “you always know about all the crazy shit this weird little town barfs up.”

I enjoy this author’s sense of humor very much. Great characters, they are all so accepting of the weird stuff that keeps cropping up. Good storytelling.

“It’s just a walk in the woods, right? What could go wrong?”

I received an arc of this book.

Mmmm... I remember liking this series more than I enjoyed this book.

It felt... boring for long stretches of the story, the characters were way immature and there were too many sex scenes that had no meaning in the narrative :/

I'll check the next one and decide if I'll keep reading this series, although I'm not very hopeful.

Solid plot with engaging characters. I love it when paranormal mysteries collide with romance. My only complaint is that I thought I was getting into the first book of a series, and it’s really, really not. There are seven books that come before Grave Danger and the side characters and those stories’ details are part of this particular story’s build up. Having read the previous books would have made Grave Danger a much richer reading experience for me. Instead, I felt like I was missing an inside joke for most of the book.

That said, I do look forward to reading more in this series.

Grave Danger is Book One in the second arc of Hank Edwards’s Critter Catchers series: Critter Catchers: Level Up—and yes, I highly recommend you start at the very beginning with Terror By Moonlight, otherwise all of the family/friend/business relationships will mean nothing, and the developments in the first arc is what makes this second season of the characters’ lives so much fun.

Our reluctant heroes, Cody Bower and Demetrius Singleton, are back! Comfortably married after the chaos of events in Dread of Night and back to working those mundane chipmunk/raccoon/wild-animal-of-the-day cases at their Critter Catchers office, a night at the local bar should have ended just like any other. But Parson’s Hollow must be jinxed, because Cody didn’t hit a deer or rabbit on his drive home that night… he hit a man.

The town’s former mayor, to be specific.

Which is bad enough—except that Cody and his husband had only just recently attended the mayor’s funeral. So if the mayor has been dead and buried, how is he walking down the middle of the road at night? And how, after being hit by a truck, did he get right back up and try to attack Cody? After the last half a dozen monster events to befall their small Pennsylvania home, it’s not that Demmy, Jugs, Aunt Amelia and others in their circle don’t believe what Cody says happened, it’s just that it seems so outlandish! Was the mayor a zombie? If he’d been buried, did he rise from the literal grave? If there was one… would there be more? And if so, how do they stop zombies from potentially hurting the townsfolk?

Edwards does a fantastic job returning readers to this cryptid-plagued universe and blending true paranormal elements with sci-fi-lite possibilities and explanations, leaving his audience on the edge of their seat, never quite sure which way the plot will twist and turn! And while Demmy and Cody are happy and thriving, there’s been wiggle room left for character growth, allowing for the subplot of their relationship to remain steady through this new series arc. And one thing that I both love and fear is that Edwards isn’t afraid to kill characters, which really ups the stakes!

If you adore friends to lovers, heartfelt humor, and of course, some monster action, you should definitely pick up the Critter Catchers series. And if you’ve already read the first seven books, Grave Danger is waiting for you!

Grave Danger (Critter Catchers: Level Up Book 1)
The start of this new epoch in the lives of Cody and Demmy can be read as just another of the couple’s adventures centered around their small town and its monstrous misfortunes, as enjoyable and endearing as the rest, with plenty of danger and humor. In addition, the pair are seriously examining the nature of their commitment to each other, especially as that commitment clashes with their commitment to protecting their town against the unique “critters” it seems to attract. Cody resents Demmy’s eagerness to involve himself in danger without consulting his partner. He fears that doing the right thing automatically endangers Demmy’s life. Demmy also fears losing Cody in the battle. These deeper issues are things the couple has struggled with before, but in the past the two lived from crisis to crisis, grateful to have survived another danger. In this book, the two confront the dangers of what has become an ongoing series of crisis and must chose their roles rather than acting on instinct or impulse, Responsibility is consciously assumed or rejected and the interpersonal conflicts that come when a partner risks his life (and his husband’s happiness) is addressed. Expect some character growth in this new epoch of Critter catchers.

Cody and Demetrius can't catch a break. The friends turned husbands would be perfectly happy catching and releasing the types of critters people don't want in their attics or crawlspaces. For some reason, though, supernatural creatures seem to be attracted to them. This time around, zombies are on the guys' agenda, and they are a definite challenge. Why are the dead crawling out of their graves, and why do Cody and Demmy have to be the ones to solve every monster mystery?
This is an engrossing story full of creepiness and fear, but it still manages to make room for the humor and camaraderie we've gotten used to with this couple and their family and friends. There is also relationship angst, as Cody and Demetrius realize they have different thoughts on what role they should play when their town is in danger yet again. Still, as always, there is a deep and abiding love between these two flawed but wonderful men.
The Critter Catchers series was excellent, and this continuation-slash-spinoff is just as good. It's scary, funny, sexy, emotional, and terrific. Once I recover from this zombie invasion, I'll be ready to look forward to the next story in this world. For now, I just hope I can sleep tonight!

Cody and Demmy are back and I for one could not be happier. The first Critter Catcher “series” introduced Cody and Demmy and their propensity to find themselves catching more than trash pandas and squirrels. I seriously wasn’t sure if anything could top the end of that one, but I was wrong. These books just keep getting better, and this one has all the fun and suspense, just even more of it, along with the great love affair that is goofball Cody and sweet Demmy, and all their friends and family showing up to help out - even, as usual, Cody’s exes (who are incredibly smart women, good to have on your side during an apocalypse).

This is the first in what is, in effect, Season 2 of the guys’ adventures, so it’s kind of a stand-alone that works better for those already familiar with the series. They’re all fun reads that get better with each book, and I can’t wait to see what’s in store next.

Cody and Demetrius return along with many of their friends and family. Things have been quiet until Cody hits a man who steps in front of his truck. The man gets up and comes after him but Cody is shocked to realize it is the mayor whose funeral they attended last week. Now they are back into the thick of paranormal activities as more people come back from the dead, enough to surround them and their loved ones.

It was great to see Cody and Demetrius back helping to solve problems in the town. Cody is his usual irascible self while Demetrius seems to be able to charm. Grave Danger is perfect for us fans. It has lots of action both in and out of bedroom; plenty of surprises, and our favorite heroes and characters. The relationship between Cody and Demetrius is perfect. They have issues and disagreements but they talk to each other and listen to each other. I know I am not alone in hoping for more books with these two and their friends and family.

What a hoot! I just finished this book and I’m blown away. I truthfully have not read any of the other books by this author but that will be remedied shortly. I was quickly drawn into the story right away and loved the dynamics that played out between family, friends, ex-lovers, and couples. These critter catchers catch more than your normal racoon or possum that is for sure, and you really need to read this story to follow the twists and turns Cody and Demmys’ relationship and lives take as they try to save the town and loved ones. I was so caught up and had to know how the zombies would be handled but I’m not spilling the beans. Read a wonderful story full of adventure, danger, angst, and love. My guess is that you won’t be able to put the book down either.

I always enjoy reading books that takes place in a small town where everyone knows everybody! In this case, there’s horror, humor, and normal couple bickering that happens in a small town. What makes this hilarious is it’s a prelude to the zombie apocalypse.
The story starts with Cody, one of the MCs hitting someone on the road. What makes this a strange event is the fact that the person Cody hit was the town’s Mayor who had died and the funeral was the week prior. Thus, the adventure continues with Cody and his husband, Demetrius. Throughout the adventure, the couple would bicker about everything. But they have love for each other’s. Just pick up the book and read it! I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s more books in store for Cody and Demetrius’ adventures!

Being back in Parson's Hollow was so much fun! Demmy and Cody are two of my favorite characters, and I love how Edwards always gives them new monsters to fight in interesting ways. This time around it was zombies, and while I'm not really a zombie fan in general, I still truly enjoyed this story! Lots of familiar faces, some steamy times, as always I could feel D&C's love, and I thought it was interesting how the zombies started. I did feel like the resolution kind of happened off page, and would've liked more; but I think I would just always like more in this world!

**Note : I truly believe you should read the original Critters Catchers before reading this series to get full enjoyment!

3.5* rounded up 4*.

Cody and Demmy are the main characters and this time there are zombies. My main concern and complaint with this book is that it’s not made clear at the start that reading the previous series, that has 7 books 📚 is really needed, to get the background of the characters and their relationships. There is lots of references to previous books so if you haven’t read them, you miss out.
This book is quick paced, with some laughs and a few poignant moments. This is another action packed story from this author. I liked reading the book, I can’t say I really enjoyed it, but it did keep me gripped throughout.
I may have to go back and read the other books now.

Cody & Demetrius are so great! I’ve been here from the very beginning of this series and I was so excited for a new book! Hank is an amazing writer & author, I love all the work I’ve read by him! I can’t wait to read more!
I’m this book the couple are back but things are way more intense and the monsters are on a completely different ball field than what they are used to! My feelings were all over the place with this one, i felt awful for them for the icy attitude they were getting! But the ending was great & they were safe and happy again for now! I’m looking forward to the next book in this spin off series!! ❤️❤️😀😀

Cody is having hard time dealing with Demmy’s somewhat delight in their unusual cases. He is also a bit frustrated that Demmy is making decisions to put himself in danger without consulting Cody. Fortunately, things have been quiet on the monster front for a bit. All of that changes when Cody runs over the already dead mayor. No one wants to put a label on it but it looks like they are dealing with a possible zombie apocalypse. Even though they seem to be going through a bit of relationship angst Demmy and Cody still deal with their problems with love and humor. I really enjoyed this book. If you are a fan of Hank Edwards’ original Critter Catchers series you won’t want to miss this one.

Grave Danger is an excellent start to this new series in the Critter Catchers world.
Cody and Demetrius are, once more, excellent main characters. Their sexy times add a bit of spice to the story, and after seeing how they handled everything in the book, I am still confident in their HEA. I continued to be invested in their lives and was distressed several times as I watched how this story played out.
I enjoyed seeing all the characters from the previous series. They are integral to the plot and keep things moving at a steady flow. I like that there are no extraneous characters. Everyone has a role to play, whether it be grand or minute. Even the dead play their part well. And I have to say it...the raccoon played its part the best. I wanted to reach into the book and pull the poor thing out of the danger zone.
The investigation is well thought out and implemented. The different threads are woven together nicely by the end, and I am satisfied with its conclusion.
I look forward to more from this author.

Yay for more Cody and Demetrius!
Things have been relatively quiet for our resident critter catchers. You know that won't last too long.
What happens when you run over an already dead man? Cody and Demmy are soon to find out. These two have their hands full with zombies coming back from the dead.

Grave Danger is the perfect combination of paranormal mysteries collide with romance.
In between the terror and fear there is heat, humor and real relationship emotions.
I'm looking forward to more!

I'm going to caveat this review from the off by saying, this is the first book I've read by this author and I requested an ARC because it looked like the first in a new series, not an offshoot of an existing one…my bad for not reading the brief carefully enough, probably. There are so many references to things I had no clue about that I spent half the time wondering what I was missing rather than focussing on the circumstances of this curious investigation. TL:DR I wouldn't start here with Demmy and Cody's adventures.

That said, there's plenty to like about Grave Danger: sweet characters in a committed relationship, good side characters, a decent plot. I'm intrigued enough by my introduction to Cody and Demetrius that I'd like to make time to start from the beginning - though it's a bit of a commitment given that there are seven books in the first series, I understand. I'm also wondering what the author has in store next for these guys… It's 3.5* rounded up from me on this occasion, but I'm confident readers who already know the previous Critter Catchers books will get a lot more out of it.

A copy was provided by GRR. This is my honest review.

Talk about an exciting story, these two and the whole town have their hands full with zombies coming back from the dead. Let’s not forgot those being turned. This book have lots of excitement, some sweet moments between the two main characters and it keeps you on your toes throughout the story. A lot of fun to read and easy to get caught up in and the ending leaves our heroes happy and safe together, once again. I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book.

Man these guys can’t get time off. It was another bumpy ride for them but this time they did it in style. In between the terror, fear, and sadness there is some humor and real relationship emotions. I think that’s what makes me like these stories so much. Though personally I’ve never been a fan of zombie reads or movies this one was quite good. I still believe zombies are the most far fetched of all the monsters but I had fun reading this. This was the deepest one yet.

Our guys have been having a nice, quiet time with just regular critters but little did they know that was merely the prelude to the zombie apocalypse. The way the zombies are introduced is outstanding - just the right mix of horror and humor as this series has always been. Edwards demonstrated a lovely, light touch in the Williamsville Inn series of traditional romances and that touch, though a bit darker is still evident in the Critter Catchers books.

Audiobook Review:
Overall – 5
Performance – 5
Story – 5

It’s a great story!

You might be able to listen to this without first reading or listening to the first Critter Catcher series but they are great and I think you’ll get more out of this series if you experience them first. There are secondary characters from the previous series appearing in this book.

This story is a great mixture of humor and horror and Hank Edwards has given Cody and Demi another great adventure.

Cody hits a man that came out of nowhere on a deserted stretch of highway. When he gets out, he realizes it is the mayor – the mayor they buried recently. The mayor ends up not being the only recently dead revisiting Parson’s Hallow. Cody has just about had his fill of getting pulled into supernatural, dangerous situations. He was happy wrangling racoons and rabbits! I’m enjoying the extension of the Critter Catcher stories. The stories are creative with great dialogue!

Things have been very quiet for them and they have only had to deal with the animal pests. Until one day they hit a man with their car to find it was the mayor of the town. The problem is they had attended their funeral just a short time ago. What has happened? Why was they still walking around after dying? How will they deal with this new situation? See just what is going on

I enjoyed the first series that involved the critter catchers and was excited to see a new book out!

This time Cody and Demmy are catching zombies. The adventure begins when Cody hits a man whilst driving on a dark road. Surprised to find that the man hit is already dead.

I enjoy paranormal adventures and am looking forward to more!

I’m so happy to be back in this world! I love Cody and Demmy so much! They are a great couple and make me smile a lot. I love the characters in this world and I always have fun with the shenanigans that these ones get into. They’ve got some new creatures to deal with and some new skills to learn which made it even more fun. I definitely want more of these characters.

Audio: 3 Stars, the voices are great but narration parts feel like a robot is reading.

Story: Repetitive, boring, the characters personality is in many ways immature, there are TONS of unnecessary fillers and the spicy segments are *yawn*. I know is supposed to be funny and quirky but to me it felt flat, unimaginative and bland. Onto my next adventure, Happy Readings!!!!
