When this book came out, a friend called me "Brandon Bays does what you do with Shen Therapy, only she uses a different technique. Would you please read the book and do the Journey with me?" I did as she asked.
There are several things that make this book stand out. One is that it's not the usual sell for the next product, as is so common in this genre, but the scripts are included at the end of the book. For anyone trained in emotional release work, hypnotherapy, regressions or NLP it was easy peasy to pick up the techniques and start working with clients. Which loads of people did, reducing the net emotional baggage quotient on the planet by a significant amount.
Another thing that I liked is she is real about her own process. We get to follow along through her emotional turmoil. We learn how she came upon the key to it all, experiencing your emotions. Which is the cornerstone of many therapies, but it bears repeating over and over, like a mantra. Feel it, don't run away from it, just be with it and allow it, surrender to it...

This book was lent to me by a friend and it is indeed a remarkable story of how we can do a lot to heal ourselves through our own minds. I am however a little unsure of how this would work for the average person in the street. I think that personally I would not be able to get into my inner self in the way described and I am sure that I would never have enough self-belief to take the risk and try self-healing. Brandon Bays had been very involved for some time in healthy living and personal development and therefore probably had the grounding that gave her the courage to take the step to refuse conventional treatment when she was diagnosed with a huge stomach tumour. I would be very reluctant to try any such course of action as the weeks that Brandon used to 'heal' herself could well have turned out to be her last. I am sure that the lady is absolutely sincere in her belief in self-healing but it is, in my opinion, something to be very wary of if it means shunning more traditional means of a cure. Someone who is ill and desperate for any kind of cure may waste valuable time on this method which does not work for everyone, especially if they find it difficult to get into the right mindset. A little worried by this one.

Excellent story about Brandon Bays process of healing herself of a huge cancerous tumor via her path of emotional healing.Ms. Bays has since created a process, called the Journeywork, and offers these intensives around the world where people can come and do these emotional healing processes that help them heal on the physical, emotional, and spiritual levels.
Brandon's healing is a testament to the power of our innate wisdom as healer. This book was hard to put down, Branson's own story was so compelling, as she faced cancer, the loss of her home, income, daughter, and much more. Yet , Brandon found the vital connection to Source and Truth that allowed her to have a Faith that transcends all external happenings. In this book, she gives people the hope that they can find within themselves, no mtter what the outer condition of their lives, the strength and faith to overcome all seeming obstacles, and instead, to find the magic (or the lessons) in whatever is happening in their lives.
The ulitmate making lemonade from lemons story, and a story of self-empowerment on the deepest level. INcredibly powerful book!!
I can't recommend this book highly enough!! Thank you Brandon!

The author of this book had a large non malignant ovarian tumour. She takes the reader on her own journey, using a healthy lifestyle and alternative therapy and successfully healed herself without surgery. Shen then went on to help others cure themselves of a wide range of ailments. the writer claims past trauma can affect our health on a physical level and we need to uncover those events and deal with them. I have followed the exercises and used them. It employs a form of self hypnosis, which some may question but I was able to uncover some difficult past events both with my self and my wife and found the process useful but also very emotional. The Journey is a remarkable and thought provoking piece of work, but I don't believe it contains all the answers. We should consider the exercises contained within the book as complimentary rather than alternative therapy. I know some past events can be so traumatic that they require professional help and in spite of instructions I would recommend reading the book carefully before attempting the exercises and not doing them alone.

This is a non-fiction book about self-healing and awareness. The author healed herself of a basketball sized tumour in her stomach, and then went on to help thousands of people 'heal' themselves of physical and emotional damage, taking each of them on their own 'journey'.

I found each of the personal stories extremely inspiring and moving, and it reaffirmed my belief that unresolved emotions can manifest themselves in a physical illness or ailment in the body. It also reaffirmed my belief that in some cases we can heal ourselves without heavy drugs or surgery.

Brandon Bays now runs healing workshops and many practioners all around the world are trained in her techniques. I'm not sure I've been inspired so much as to seek one out but if it came across my path, I might consider going along.

I recommend this book to anyone who is suffering from a physical illness or ailment in the body, looking to open their mind about the healing options available and the power of the mind and body.

I picked this book up at the airport in New Zealand-- apparently it's been more popular there, Australia, and the UK. I really enjoyed this book. I felt it was very fresh and unique compared to others I've read. Those so many out there that have simply said "Your thoughts create your outcome." And this author takes it a big step beyond that. She teaches how we unconsciously hold on to past negative emotions in our body and steps on how to release them in order to be healthy again -- mentally, physically, and spiritually. I'm not, of course, saying that this is the one true answer for healing and therapy, but I do feel that this one is a big step in a new direction. It takes a a step further from simple thought-based therapies that can only help us to a certain degree. This book and theory I feel opens the door for a new area of discovery when it comes to therapy and healing.

I had earlier gone through these sittings and felt totally liberated, but my trainer had been recommending me to understand this book since long. Finally, I took it in my hands yesterday and had finished ti today morning.

It was a very enlightening experience to read this book. It speaks about emotional blockages which cause diseases.

Well, earlier, being a science student, this concept was totally alien to me. However, with passage of time, as I got to know more and more, realization was dawning that there is indeed something like "thoughts that affect your body"

I really don't know the scientific basis of anything stated in the book, but have felt it practically, and have been able to release quite a few of these emotional blockages myself with the help of my trainer, but am sure that I will be able to release more of them after reading this book.

I recommend it for everyone to read so that one is aware of this concept at least.

I could not put this book down when I began reading. The stories and the process were captivating. I am a private person and did not want to try this process with anyone so I did it alone...the emotional release was unbelievable. Thank you Ms. Bays.

I read it, and then went to a journey practitioner and had two intense sessions and that was the first time in my life I ever felt love for myself. Needless to say I incorporate the feeling, dealing and healing methods taught in this book in my everyday life as needed :) Def work the read

Very intriguing/motivating, I read this just as I was signing on to begin the workshops that led me to pursue the journey practitioner's program.

The book is OK.. I'm not sure whether to give it 3 or 4 stars. Some of the stories in it are really motivational -and by that I mostly refer to the ones that made me more aware of the power of being open to yourself and able to admit that there may be something wrong with you (or within you) and that it can be fixed if you allow yourself to stop hiding the problem under the carpet and actually face it. I also like that idea of having (or litterally making) the courage to drop yourself into the black hole of unknown and fear at the risk of getting broken.
Now, my problem with the book is that Brandon pretends that all of this is new and it all came from her own mind and ingenuity, while these are all quite old NLP practices and she HAS indeed studied NLP for a long time, so it's not like she can say she had a brilliant idea without knowing it already exists. In the book also aren't mentioned the possible negative effects of this "getting into one's mind" (which i'm not gonna get into, but there's a good reason experienced psychologists would not do hypnosis on mentally unstable patients) nor the fact that it's all more of a business for money (and it produces A LOT of money, even after all these years).
Anyway, to not confuze the art with the artist, her idea or not, the book has stuff that is good to learn and it's presented in a nice and welcoming, easy to read, manner, so it's not a bad read. Gotta say I still haven't managed to read the end -which is the most important part, the actual "Travel". Kind of gave up the idea. It's pretty hard to do this by yourself and my energy stored for reading this book ended with her lifestory. But I hope you'll manage to do better than me.

This book is okay. I definitely think the stories were drawn out and could have been explained with less words. Definitely too long and over-indulgent. The whole book is written with a tone of conviction however. The author is very adamant about her journey to self-healing and what worked for her has been practiced on others and has worked for them as well. For some reason, I ran out of patience. Probably because of the repetitive stories and the "amazingness" she exudes when trying to over-convince the reader of her deep relaxation and self-discovery steps. I think that if I experienced the Journey first hand, I might have given the book more stars but her concept seems too simple to write a whole book and develop a whole method around. It seems like a deep awareness of self-consciousness. If you know your hang ups in life and with reactions to people and situations, then just be aware of them and heal them because of that awareness. It's basically just a concentrated effort to remember pass hang ups and sit around an imagined fire and forgive the people and yourself. Anyway, that's my two cents. Take it for what it's worth. The book, on a positive note, was encouraging to those who are sick and want to have hope to heal themselves. At the beginning, I must admit, I was inspired and hopeful to begin a different approach to my healing and efforts toward that result. That feeling and revived inspiration has since subsided, but I still strongly believe that people can reverse disease and ultimately heal themselves, this book just reinforced that belief.

This book offered a fundamental piece of the puzzle in my coaching modality, it provides a toolkit for successfully navigating the emotional terrain within. By working with the exercises that it provides, I am successfully healing old wounding and trauma, including present day symptoms, and learning to be with the fluxuations of my emotional being with less reactivity.

I highly reccommend this book to anyone. Contact me if you are interested in studying it deeper and want support, I live in Sebastopol, CA

I was very much curious about this phenomenon. I read the book and now I'm even more interested in this subject. I'm even thinking about joining a journey weekend, because I need to experience it myself to know what it is.

All about the guided introspection called "The Journey". And yes, I'm biased because I am a Journey Practitioner. There's much more to this book than meets the eye! Read it and try some of the processes. Also read "Freedom Is" for more, and shorter processes.

I thought this one was pretty good. A bit of easy reading and a bit too salesy, without any recognition that maybe this won't work for every single person on the planet, regardless of their frame of mind.
Still, some new concepts and worth reading.

"Rännak" kuulub ilmselt mõnes mõttes esoteerilise kirjanduse klassikasse, vähemalt olen nii aru saanud. Samuti peaks Baysi loodud rännakumeetod olema efektiivne vaimne teraapia.
Seetõttu mõjub mulle taoliste raamatute lugemine pahatihti mitte inspireerivalt, vaid vastupidi hoopis frustreerivalt, sest tajun veelgi teravamalt isiklikku võimetust ja suutmatust. Kindlasti pole see muidugi nii mõeldud, pigem ikka vastupidi ning on tore, et paljud inimesed on Rännakust abi saanud ning olnud võimelised tervenema ning oma elu muutma.

This book was referred to me by a friend while we were in some discussion and I'm so glad I did grab a copy of this book.
The author has written this book so well to explain the entire concept for each and everyone to follow. Initially she has explained her journey of what made her eventually write this book The Journey. She has explained how she healed her own tumour. Then since it worked for her she decided to use it to help others, as you read ahead she has explained how different people with different conditions and different age group used this same concept to heal themselves emotionally and physically as well. In the end she has given proper guidance of how you can use this with the help of a partner and heal yourself. The last 2 chapters have all the details, step by step that is required to apply this healing process.

The best part I felt was while reading the book I felt better and I was totally convinced to try this and experience it myself. It makes me think that for sure the experience will be surreal in itself and hence should do this process on myself.

First off, I’m debating whether to give it 3 stars or 4.
It took a long time to read because the tools at the end require the help of another reader and this isn’t everyone’s type of book. It starts of as a journey of treating a tumour with alternative healing strategy. As a medical practitioner, it’s a hard one to swallow; not the treatment strategy but the diagnosis and work up; but it is the patients perspective. I loved the stories of hope; but the skeptic in me can’t fathom how someone overcomes such a serious ailment only to lose so much after like her home, family, husband. Someone with that much inner peace missed all the signs of a failing marriage and mother-daughter relationship. In the end, her soul recovered and she acknowledged her blessings rather than the failures and that’s why I went with 4 and not 3 stars. It’s a recommended read because it takes you through her emotional journey and gives you the tools to work through yours - just find a friend who will read this with you and go through the exercise at the end.

A very important book and I find it a very precious book. In fact this book has the same basis as what Gautama Buddha went through when he reached enlightenment. That is going deep in oneself and jump into the unknown and then you find pure bliss. I also find comparable thoughts by the Danish philosopher Soren Kierkegaard who also mentioned this jump. The jump from an ethical to a religious phase. This is a jump to God or to enlightenment or to love and these 'things' were always inside us ... we only have to detect it 'again' or 'at last'.

Somewhat unpopular to believe that one can be cured simply by the power of the mind and by becoming aligned with the source, especially if it concerns cancer. The body and emotions seem to be deeply connected and knowing how one influences the other is a good starting point to become cured of all the bad stuff. Nevertheless, the author was showing a different approach to life, viewing the bad things in life as a lesson and ultimately gaining a unique perspective from it, which of course I acknowledge and respect.

I first read The Journey in the 90's when it was first released. It was groundbreaking at the time.
The author shares her healing journey after diagnosis of a large abdominal tumour. As an experienced therapist, she developed a healing process called "The Journey" that others could use for their own personal transformation.
She shares this technique and the scripts she uses for her clients and workshop participants. It is easy to comprehend.
Although she eradicated the tumour, her life still had many challenges which she shares openly and honestly in this book.

This was an interesting book lent to me by a colleague. I had to rush through the book. I appreciated her own story but felt that the Journey work could have been spelled out in greater detail. I think it is meant to be a way to lure readers into signing up for the various workshops offered. I would have liked to see more of a biography and then a separate book going into more detail - although perhaps her subsequent books serve this purpose.

This is the second time I have read Brandon's the Journey. It was better the second time because it dawned on me that this book is like a first aid kit for the soul.
It teaches us how to empower that God particle that resides in all of us to self heal.
The human body is but a vessel trapped with a soul ( all seeing God particle ) that hungers love for the heart, goodness for the bodily spirit, travel and reading as food for the mind and eyes just to name some of its many desires.

I like the method, so I was curious about the story. It was an easy read, though I appreciate it was tough to describe the emotional and mental processes during the sessions - and these were a little repetitive (they are by nature I believe), which somewhat spoiled the flow of the story me.
IMO it was not very strong as a story with a narrative - but it’s worth the read for those who want to familiarise themselves with the method.
