A Valentine’s date gone wrong marks the beginning of a love that will last for all time.

Jena knows about vampires, particularly about the one who watches her every step, lest she somehow reveal her knowledge to the mortal world. Ian Sinclair would be her executioner should she even try to share her knowledge, but she doesn’t fear him. No, Ian bothers her on an even more elemental level. He’s just too sexy for his own good—and hers.

Ian finds himself attracted to the all-too-mortal lady doctor, though he knows better. He’s been assigned to watch her, not seduce her, but seduction seems to be all he can think of when he looks at the gorgeous woman who works entirely too hard and has such sad eyes. He feels things he hasn’t felt in centuries when she’s around, including an unreasonable jealousy when he follows her on a Valentine’s date with one of her colleagues.

After the disastrous date, will they both be able to resist temptation when Jena invites the vampire in?

I enjoyed this read. Let me first say, if your picking this book at random to read then it might seem a bit confusing. If you haven't followed the series which includes 3 books prior then it would seem a bit rushed and confusing. This novella is a good read but not strong enough to stand on it's own. I think that's why so many reviewers are disappointed with the read.

Jena's best friends in past books have all met and married their true mate. At one of their weddings she happens to meet Ian. Though they briefly spoke and shared a dance, she is unable to stop thinking about Ian who is a vampire. Ian has been watching Jena for months. He is known as the enforcer, although Jena is aware that her friends married vampires Ian is sent to keep an eye on Jena watching to see if she would tell of their existence.

On Valentines day everything has come full circle for both Ian and Jena as they both discover they are each others true mate. They also discovery something important about Jena's blood.

For a short story, this one hit all the right spots with me. Ian was a charmer and sweet, and Jena was straight up with no annoyances or hang ups to disappoint me in a female lead. The pacing was well done, and there weren't any rushed explanations of vampirism or true mates - it was all simply understood from the prior books in the series. That alone - the trust in the reader's intelligence not to have to repeat plot devices - raised this book up a notch for me. A good read.

Jena and her Guard Dog

Jena and her friends met when they formed a college study group. Unlike most collegiate relationships, the study group survived graduation and kept in close touch with each other. After four of the friends found the men of their dreams, Jena found herself privy to a dangerous secret shared by the four and their doting husbands. She also found an unexpected companion who knew more about her than anyone else ever had, maybe more than she knew about herself.

This is the fifth book in the Brotherhood of Blood series. I suggest you start at the beginning of the series. Enjoy! Warning: explicit sexual interludes sometimes overbalanced the surrounding plots of these stories. There are plots that are worthwhile to follow.

(Explícito). Demasiado corto, por lo tanto todo ocurrió demasiado rápido. Me imaginaba al personaje de Ian más sombrío y melancólico. ...

This is the story of Ian, the 800-year old vampire enforcer that is portrayed as quite and somehow sinister in the first books, and Jenna the no-nonsense doctor that is the friends of the earlier ladies. Ian in this story turned into a sappy love struck vampire that is quite different from what I've known from the earlier books. Anyway, this is just a love story like the other books from these series, and also have a good ending.

I just could not finsh this, was about a quarter of the way in and realized ther were better books to spend my time on. Not awful; I just can't read another story about a "coquettish" virgin who yells "come in me now". Especially after she's just been abducted by a dragon! Maybe I will come back to the series later, and I will enjoy it.

Book 5 Ian and Jena. Jena is the doctor of the group and knows about vampires and her friends due to Christy's brush with death. Ian is the enforcer tasked with making sure her knowledge of their kind is protected. After feelings develop between the two they come together to discover they are mates and just how unique an individual Jena really is.

I firmly believe that you should be able to pick up any book in a series and be able to understand the world. Book 9 should be just as clear and engaging as book 1. It was okay but I was left wondering about the world and where this story fits in.

I enjoyed this book very much. Jena deserves to be just as happy as her friends, and it all happens on such an apt night!!!! :D We also learn a very, very interesting fact about Jena and her mother. Wonder just how that fact is going to work out in the end.

More is better....

Wish there was more of the tale. It was good, but I wanted more of the story. Maybe more of the kids or maybe of them. Nothing happened to them and what about Steele?
