Let me start off by saying that this author is new to me and the book was recommended by a friend.
Let me also say that. You should always follow Authors warning……..This is a dark romance. Reader discretion is advised.
Did I have trouble reading some parts of this book, well hell yeah but, Holy. Smokes. I am mind blown. Wordless. This book kept my rapt from chapter one, and sent me reeling with the last word. Just, wow. Audrey Rush is an incredibly talented writer!
This story contains extremely graphic violence, disturbing content. Both of the main characters. had difficult childhoods. This is one of those, Dexter has met his match kind of reads
Remedy has a past that she isn’t proud of and doesn’t believe she deserves to be happy. She has been trying to atone for by helping her BFF, but somehow falls into playing a dark, twisted and deadly game of cat-and-mouse with her new boss while there's a killer loose in Key West
Cassius Winstone, is the owner and CEO of The Winstone Company, reclusive developer of the Southeastern United States…. He is a multimillionaire who thinks. He could do anything he wants. A man who can do horrible things without any fear of punishment.
The Key West killer tries to keep himself In check., only killing one to three every season. But this time, the itch is growing like his hunger for Remedy.
If you enjoy dark themes with graphic violence, and someone who isn’t afraid to get their hands bloody. And trust me when I say that the main character enjoys getting their hands bloody. You found yourself in the right spot

STORY:
It’s times like these after reading a book this dark, I think about the author and I say to myself, with some of the scenes, was she drinking that night, how many did she have and somewhere in between those drinks, did she say screw it I am going all in? That’s how disturbing this book is and the definition of insanely dark romance, at least a stalker one. This book should be sold with ⚠️ caution ⚠️ tape around it and stop 🛑 and yield signs before going in to certain scenes. It goes there. It’s like the lead character in the show, Dexter, but a tiny bit worst.
So, Cash and Remedy’s normal is our what the f*ck. Their thing (notice I didn’t say relationship) was EXTREMELY unorthodox and so screwed up that it read so good to me. After this, I am questioning the enjoyment of being so enthralled with this dark tale. I liked that the author embodied the actual stalking scenes that was mainly covered throughout the beginning of the book. It didn’t just involve the main character speaking about stalking his victim but being in the act and giving us a play by play.
Cash was so interesting. This concept doesn’t work for me all the time, but I got excited not reading him fully throughout the book. His stoic, intense and deadly attitude truly left me guessing what he will do with Remedy in the end. I think Cash, himself was is a trigger warning. He was a big part of me becoming so involve with this story. The book finished without still knowing much of his past but it still worked for this story. Remedy, her chemistry with Cash excited me. If she was winging this book herself, it wouldn’t be as interesting. Cash brought out that naughty in her. She was in denial on her reasoning for why she was doing what she was doing for her best friend. That was the only thing that got an eye-roll.
SEXUAL CHEMISTRY:
So…. Yeahhhh….expect the dark characteristics of both characters to match their sex scenes. A lot of things to some maybe considered unusual (omg I feel so dirty for saying this) but it got a bit hot-ish. The gun scene, it wasn’t right, but it was entertaining. Many may or may not find some of their sexual encounters disturbing as it involves a few objects at times.
SECONDARY CHARACTERS:
Her mom, not sure if I felt full closure on that in regards to step dad before and after. Don’t want to say too much on that trying to prevent spoilers. Apart from that, all the secondary characters definitely played their positions especially if they were apart of Remedy’s life or past. Their is no one that stood out that you would crave a book on. Both main characters carried the story well.
OVERALL:
I do not condone the actions of the characters in real life. However, with this being a work of fiction and it was really dark, I was entertained by the story and the characters. I feel for this book, moral compass needs to go out the window if you are really a fan of dark romance.

DNF @ 4%. Skimmed until 35%. Not safe.

Writing was hard to follow & understand (even when I re-read it just to make sure it wasn't just my lack of interest). It was esoteric & weirdly-worded from the very 1st page. For example,
"I try to get inside of her head. Is it sadness? Perhaps. Anxiety? Anger? Why does she keep it locked inside of her rib cage?"
"I click my teeth at him, making sure he knows I see him. The owner emerges from the back.
“What’re you doing back here already?” he asks. “You still working?”
“I was one batt of fiberglass short. You got any?”
“Twenty-three by ninety-three?”
That’s the one. I nod. “Same rate as yesterday?”
“I’ll send it upfront.”
Why use "inside of her rib cage" instead of simply "inside her"? For H to "click" his teeth to get attention takes some mighty strong teeth. His construction material order I just drew a blank.
I skipped pages after 4%, skimming until 35% when I couldn't stand to read 1 more sentence of this book. Not my kind of dark romance. It wasn't romantic at all. Just dark & twisted.
Plot (thus far):
Reclusive Key-West businessman 40s H was really an eager serial killer who kills people for sport , averaging 3 kills a season but had recently upped it to 6. He just liked to kill people for power & control. He had an abusive childhood (physical, mental, & probably also sexual) from various foster homes he was in. 25yo PA-to-the-wealthy h was his recent mark, who he'd been stalking through hidden crawl spaces & wall cavities of the apartment building she was living in & which he owned. He was fascinated by her masochist porno kink as he hacked into her computer & phone & watched her through the peepholes in her walls. She ends up working for him as a ploy to avenge her BFF who was H's previous PA, who accused H of slapping & spanking her for not doing her job right. It triggered h's sexual abuse experiences from her stepdad & stepbro. So, she sets out to kill H as a result. On her 1st week of work, she walked in on his sleeping form & bashed his head with a lamp to kill him. But it was just a lump of concrete & H surprised her with a videocamera on his hand & blackmailing her to be his sex toy + still be his PA or else he'll send the evidence to the police. She reluctantly agreed with some sass & they start their strange BDSM affair. While H was also busy killing more victims as well as planning on making h take the blame for the serial killings in Key West. He also planned to kill h at some point. She plays hard to get re: the sex coercion but actually found a lot of pleasure from it. She equates soft tender sex with her stepdad & liked how pain & coercion in sex takes her out of her sex-trauma mentality.
There was absolutely no emotional or romantic connection between H&h. It was lust- & sex-trauma-based. The sex scenes were cringe-y. Lots of rough fingering (anal, vaginal, mouth). His stalking her was nothing different than what he did with his kill victims. He'd get an erection while stalking them or inflicting pain on them. Same with her. She just happened to be an eager pain participant. h only became attracted to him because he did rough sex with her, which her other lovers (including her stepdad) didn't want to do with her. Before that, she got the same creepy feels like she did with her stepdad. She's had other lovers, including her ex-BF who actually cared for her but he wouldn't rough her up like she wanted.
Definitely not for me.

Cash has been obessed/stalking Remedy for awhile now as he's killing around town and now he has her right where he wants her working for him. Since she believes he abused her friend and I swear this man can twist a story and when she goes for revenge he's 10 steps ahead of her catching her in the act of trying to kill him. Using it as blackmail to have her and he uses that alot and encourages her to try to kill him 🤣🤣🤣 he's a good killer and mind fucker.. as for Remedy shes having mixed emotions from the way he humiliates her and gets her off on pain she's fighting with herself. The more she learns the more she's confused and same with Cash he has a plan frame her for his murders but he can't yet lol he loves playing with his girl. As for Remedy I love her she's strong sassy and she had a messed up childhood.. and a mom who never believed her.. I kinda wish the mom got some punishment for not believing her child.. she kinda got out scott free. But those others who wronged her didnt. 😈

This is my forth book I've read by this author and she has become an all time favorite author. Crawl is a dark romance and it's definitely dark with both of them being messed up and very entertaining to read about.
Never tought I would have one author to be a favorite in both dark romance and erotic horror as those genres are a lot diffrent.

December 8, 2021Crawl is a dark stalker romance and features Cash and Remedy. I'm debating on my rating for this book. I love dark romance and I couldn't put this book down. On the one hand...it's pretty well written with an intriguing plot and outrageous characters. On the other hand...this is a VERY dark book...darker than I am used to reading and I'm finding it difficult to look at it objectively. Emotionally this book was rough and there were no redeemable traits in the hero. He isn't a hero and he doesn't pretend to be or try to be. The heroine walks that edge of 'girl you cray' but I did find her own personal growth and development after what she's been through satisfying. She isn't a hero either but Cash and Remedy find and flourish in their own personal brand of crazy.
I don't want to give too much away because going into this without much will make for a better reading experience. I felt like some violence was thrown in for the shock factor and was unnecessary but at the same time I think Cash and Remedy's story was meant to shock the reader. Their unconventional relationship and happy ending worked for them and I enjoyed the fact that this book kept me on my toes the whole time.
If you like super dark romance with grit, angst and a sharp edge definitely scoop this one up. But take note of the trigger warnings before diving in.

If you are looking for a completely weird and compelling stalker read with characters you cannot help but love… then this book is for you.
I’ll be the first to admit this book is not for anyone. It’s dark and a bit out there. It’s a story about a serial killer and how he, after becoming obsessed with his next intended victim changes his plans. I really loved reading about two totally different and messed up characters and how weirdly they fit together.
I was undecided in the rating but in the end, I just couldn't help myself in loving these flawed characters.

Mmm. I was so indecisive about how to rate this book. It was my first from this author and it wasn't badly written or anything like that, there were just many aspects that didn't convince me much. The story starts off with the antihero, Cash, who's been stalking the heroine, Remedy, for a while and he's obsessed with her already. He's a merciless serial killer and he's torn between wanting her, wanting to kill her and wanting to frame her for his murders throughout the book until I would say the very end. Maybe it's me but I couldn't really get what it was about her that made her stand out from his usual victims? And since some killings were on page and quite detailed and gruesome, I think it would've helped to spend more time explaining the transition from the hero as an abused foster kid to him as cruel serial killer, to at least try to sympathize with him or better understand his nature. Something else I didn't quite get is how accepting Remedy turns out regarding Cashes actions and willing to murder someone herself. I get it's all fiction but still, it seemed a little too easy and too little freaking out over it and to me not very believable lol.
Now to the fun part: the sex scenes were off the charts 🔥and I enjoyed reading them SOO MUCH. They were so hot and dirty and downright brutal at times so beware of that if that's not your taste. CHECK FOR TWs BEFORE READING!!!
Overall an enjoyable dark read, I'm sure I'll try reading something else from this author in the future.

This has it all, make sure you check your trigger warnings because Audrey doesn’t hold back. This was my first book by her and will not be my last.
Remedy takes it upon herself to avenge her bestfriend, from her disgusting boss. Except, he isn’t who he says he is. Cash is her stalker. He knows about her, he knows things he shouldn’t since he’s never talked to her.
A stalker has no right to be this hot. I don’t know what i’m feeling, but i’m feeling something.
This was a 4.5 star read for me. I was so hooked. I finished it within 12 hours of starting it, including sleep time.
If you’ve been thinking about reading this and don’t have many triggers, i suggest you read it ASAP.

I can’t say I enjoyed this one as much as Audrey’s other books that I’ve read. It was slow to start with like dragged for me before picking up towards the end.
Cash is a prolific serial deleter going from town to town, having perfected his covers ups so that he isn’t found. He stalks our FMC Remedy, viewing her through a cavity in her wall, setting up cameras and linking to her laptop. He assumes the identity of a recluse and reaches out to her company to employ her as a PA. This leads us into the story, the why’s, the what’s and the where’s plus more bl00d and m**drs.
Do read the trigger warnings. There are some graphic scenes depicted. For me it was an ok read and did have somewhat of an HEA 🤣

Remi takes a job as his personal assistant and she's determined to either get evidence of his abuse or kill him - or both. When she meets Cash Winstone, he's not the recluse he's been rumored to be. Windows that were once boarded up are now wide open, despite the fact there's a serial killer lurking around. Cash wasn't prepared for the impact Remi would have on his life, or how obsessed he'd become. Depraved and naughty things happen and it's TOTALLY delicious.
Remedy feels like everything. Like power. Like control. Like need... . And like a man on a leash, I fall to my knees and crawl to her. I’m a fucking slave to my queen.It's not a traditional romance, but I loved it!!!! NOTE that the first 30 pages went a little slow for me, but once it heated up, it really heated up!
TRIGGERS: Remi was raped as a child, there's gruesome murder, violent sex (with consent), somno, spitting, cutting, sex on a corpse, lots of blood, choking, etc. I can't remember everything else.

This was a dark, gritty and twisted stalker romance. Cash and Remedy were two dark and messed up souls whose chemistry was off the charts. The storyline was intriguing, intense, shocking and well written. I really enjoyed this story.

Crawl by Audrey Rush is a stalker dark romance book. The author does a solid job describing the setting and following a steady pace. There were small twists that thickened the plot well. Remedy and Cash are not your typical main characters. This pair was dark. The characters were serial unalivers who suffered trauma during their youth. Remedy finds herself slowly derailing, a slow descent into Cash’s grasp.
Cash grows an attachment to Remedy, who he was stalking and planning to unalive, and protects her in the manner he knows best; murder. Remedy doesn’t trust most, yet she finds herself trusting Cash over everyone. Better the devil you know than the devil you don’t. The spicy scenes may not be for everyone, since Remedy is masochistic.
This book delivered what was promised. I can get with the characters being dark, but I wish there was more to it. They were rather straight forward. This is a decent read. I recommend it to anyone who likes pitch black dark romance.

I loved Cash. Simply put, his character was vile and dark and disturbing in ways that made sense and somehow made him unbearably hot! I was glued to his disruptive personality and ‘love’ for Remedy.
This was hands down just what I wanted when I was looking for a dark romance. I want there to be a part 2, a continuation to this story and I want more Cash, more killings and More Wild Sex!
