Her Prison Husband

Rate this book
His name is Bain Warner, ex-enforcer for the Romano crime family. They call him the “Movie Star Murderer” on account of his incredible good looks that had women everywhere swooning when he was sent to prison five years ago after being convicted of killing seventeen men, and those were just the ones they could prove. Six months ago, his first letter arrived at my home.

At first I was terrified. A dangerous killer wanting to speak to me? I threw out the letters, but that didn’t stop him. He sent more. Then upped the ante and invited me to the prison for a conjugal visit, just him and me alone in a room, completely unsupervised for an hour. I may have lost my mind, because I’m actually considering it. And the worst part? I was part of the legal team that led to his conviction five years ago.

She’s a maniac, Maniac on the floor

Elena is a hot shot almost lawyer in her early twenties and she’s got a big bad problem. In the form of a bad boy criminal sending her letters from his prison cell. Elena takes this as a sign to ignore him and her friend Kelly said no why not go visit him. So our lovely Elena heads on over to the prison and gets her spine realigned.

Wink !!Wink !!

No pressure right ? That’s until she starts to feel things for this man!! Like real things and maybe he isn’t such a bad guy. Maybe he shouldn’t be in prison. Maybe they can be together forever.

The things that I loved about this were the scenes. Bain has one of the filthiest mouthes in the game and we are here for it. The whole time I read this I kept clutching my invisible pearls. But I never got over their bond. It was unshakable even if it was built in a very odd way.

We can’t help who we fall for and if they’re a bad boy learn how to fight. Oh and also be a lawyer. I have recommended this to a friend I always do. I have also made a few highlights for any of my freak booty friends who like a bit of cayenne…

Special thanks to the author for always rocking our worlds and making us giggle.

Happy reading everyone !!!

DNF

You know the only reason I’ve kept coming back for Jenna Rose books, despite the manwhores and asshole heroes, is for the virgin heroines. That’s the only reason. She was a consistent author in that regard and I appreciated that. So I kept reading.

Well, she’s consistent no longer. Apparently she’s joined the fad of authors crapping all over the brand they’ve built by having a non-virgin heroine in this one.

I DNF’ed so fast I should have whiplash. I’m so fucking tired of author’s pulling this inconsistent bullshit. And for no good reason at all.

I don't blame the authors when they change their formula. I just really want authors who have proven themselves to have only virgin heroines to give a warning when they want to change this.

I’m gonna start with I love EVERY. SINGLE. Jenna Rose book… And this is her first book without a virgin heroine and I’m so freaking upset!
I usually expect formula changes in authors, but not from Jenna! 😭
Don’t mind me I’m just gonna go be dramatic and cry in my bedroom now🥲

This was a bit twisted book. A lawyer and a convict, love at the 1st lust. The h was an intern-lawyer for the H's prosecutor case; a case that actually launched her career. The H was handsome serial killer; A serial killer with a code. His victims were either bad guys or someone from the mob (like that matters). They met for the 1st time in court and so the H started sending her letters, seducing her, during his imprisonment. The h wanted a taste of the H; and so it began the conjugal visit.

This type of story was more abandon-all-the-logic-and-enjoy-the-crazy-ride kinda romance. It was more crazy and blind love after all. It was okay actually; the whole crazy plot worked. The smuttiness was hot too, adding into the mix.

No virgin
Dual PoV, 1st person
Lawyer h, convict H
No drama/angst
No cheating
Safe read-ish, HEA, epilogue
Overall score: 3 crazy romance stars

This was a cute read. Virgin heroine’s & player H’s aren’t something I enjoy so these negative review’s didn’t phase me.

Bain is a serial killer (though I would just call him a hitman tbh- there’s a difference imo ) who is in jail for life. Our heroine Elena was an intern for a law firm who put him away 5 years prior. H is obsessed with our h to the point he writes letters to her. They meet up and the spice begins.

Steam: High
OM/OW drama: No
HEA: Yes
Separation: No

Tropes: Alpha hero, insta- love

Please Mr. Jailer, won't you let my man pleasure me?

Elena (h) was an intern on the legal team that saw to the life-without-parole conviction of Bain (H), serial murderer of seventeen that they know of. But Bain has been longing from afar for Elena ever since he first saw her at the trial and has been sending her love letters from his prison cell until finally asking her to be his. Elena is turned-on enough to do that and so starts their hot, sexy, intense conjugal trailer visits. If Bain can just get out of prison, they can be together forever. I see that some other reviews are unhappy that Elena is not a virgin - I get that we all have certain tropes we like, but I can’t see giving an author one star or a DFN just because of that. Plus, she's a modern woman who's finished law school and it's not like she's sexing her way up the law firm. OTT - Yes! Hot & sexy good time - Yes! Fun quickie - Yes!

Bain is in prison for life, he murdered many people but had his own code, he is basically a Dexter/ Robin type, who killed bad mob men. However he become captivated by Elena an intern working for the prosecution who helped put him away, with her he felt seen. Fast forward 5 years and the only thing getting Bain through is the image of Elena, he has been writing her letters asking for conjugal visits so he can show her how much she means to him.

Elena now in her twenties and on the partner track tells her friend about the letters she has been getting and Kelly (her friend and colleague) convinces her to go.

The chemistry and connection is instant the fire is red hot and Bain has a dirty mouth, but is also sweet and obviously cherishes Elena.

As the visits continue their connection grows.

This is a novella so it's super short and I would have liked it to be longer, as the ending seemed a little rushed, the plot at the end becomes totally unbelievable but I still enjoyed it, it is fiction after all.

Bain is a great anti hero and him and Elena are so sweet and sexy, it's a short fun time. Elena is not a virgin as far as I can tell, which is normally Jenna Roses MO but it wasn't overt and she didn't talk about other conquests so it didn't shock me or take away from the story, just something to note as it could come as a surprise.

English:
"Her Prison Husband" by Jenna Rose is a novella, standalone, steamy romance.

Elena Sadler is a lawyer who has received letters from prison lately. These letters are sent to her by an inmate convicted of killing five people, and of whom Elena was an intern at the plaintiff's law firm. Bain Warner got stuck with the image of his face and body, and for years hasn't been able to get it out of her head, so he decides to send her letters waiting for her response.

Wow, this is a totally unusual book for me, I had never read a book with this theme of prisoners and letters for a vis, nor did I know that such a book could exist. I found it a shocking and explosive story.

Elena's story is to take courage because if you receive letters from a person that your law firm locked up in prison, I don't know if at first, I would think it would be for having good words, Bain always said he felt innocent.

So maybe she went and killed you. But from the very first moment, Elena already had in mind that he was not doing something bad to her. Also, the fact that Bain is really attractive, is what from my point of view gives Elena the desire and the push she needs, even if she later realizes how far-fetched it was.

But in the end, everything is remedied, and what seems crazy turns into happiness.

Overall meh.

I liked the idea of letters but we only ever see one and she never interacts before that one. So there was no established relationship and one never really got established.

The sex scenes were repetitive and kinda lame, it felt like copy and paste.

The writing also could've used improvement i felt lost sometimes, in the jumbled descriptions and i even think one characters name got changed at some point. I dunno. Usually i dont notice that kind of thing but it bothered me this time.

Safety:
◇No ow drama
◇om offers h sex to "fast track her" to partners of a lawfirm. She rejects him.
◇neither are virgins and didnt get the sense he was a manwhore. Also its not explicitly said that shes not a virgin. (Considering it never really said it im not sure why people complained. They could've pretended she was a virgin since the text never says she isnt just my opinion though)
◇no separation
◇no cheating

You never know where you will find love.

I really liked this short story. It was entertaining, enjoyable, and steamy. The characters were interesting and likable for the most part. Kelly seemed like a great friend to Elena. She encouraged her to take chances. Bain had been writing to Elena for years. He had seen her at his trial and knew that he wanted her to be his. Elena had not responded to any of Bain’s letters but after a letter that invited her to have a conjugal visit with him she couldn’t get him out of her mind. Neither one of them was prepared for how being together would make them feel. I adored their happily ever after. I recommend reading this book.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Bain is in prison for life and starts to write Elena (she was in the legal team that locked him up😉) kind of love letters. He wants to meet her in person and after debating with herself she agrees. And holy heck do they have chemistry together... But how will this relationship work in the long run?? A sweet, OTT, steamy, romantic and safe lovestory with a sweet HEA and no drama. yes it's not really realistic but who cares??!! I loved it 😍😍😍

This was a steamy, sweet, OTT and entertaining short read that I really enjoyed. The characters were interesting and likeable. But I would have liked to have seen Bain be a bit more dominant considering how his character is described.

Charming!

I really loved the juxtaposition of a bad guy killer who falls in love with one of his opposing attorneys. It was well choreographed and not too over the top. The only ending that made sense was what transpired. Another Jenna Rose novel! I’m getting hooked.

Too Unrealistic

I couldn’t handle reading this terrible writing after she arrived at prison. I get it, it’s suppose to be fantasy. I can suspend reality enough about a conjugal visit, but seriously that is a no go between a lawyer and inmate. And in no way do you ever see inmates just lining up to see visitors and making lewd comments. You enter the front doors or a visitors area out of view of inmates. If you are seeing inmates, you’re in the wrong section. And I won’t even start in on the harassment from another lawyer.

*QUICK ONE-LINER OPINION*
I like the overarching plotline and while I understand this is a novella and too short to properly develop the story, I have to say the ending is a little too rushed for my liking, and feels a little 'unresolved'. A pleasant, quick read before bedtime.
