I like the darker, dirtier side to Elain. She's treated like a glass doll in ACOTAR that she just became annoying. Seeing her and Azriel explore different kinks helps flesh out her character and makes her more interesting (in my opinion). It's smutty and sweet with a very cute Azriel, growing more confident Elain- I love it. As long as I can ignore the fact that Lucien exists, I think Azriel and Elain make a cute couple. I'd happily reread.
So I found out that you can download AO3 fics to the Kindle app so basically now a new addiction has been unlocked. Also the fact that this fic has a GR? Means reading fanfic now counts towards my reading goals!
It’s so weird to say this but I needed this book. I was craving to read a story about Azriel and Elain and my prayers were answered. I hope Sarah Mass knows about this book.
So, what do I love about this book? Everything!! Yes it was spicy as hell but the characters fell in love and that’s what I wanted. It’s a must read. To the author, thank you for writing this.
Acotar meets 50 shades of grey - the spice was there, so if you want to read it for that I recommend.
Otherwise it was just fine - it was weird to get used to the POVs since we haven’t heard Az and Elains perspectives before. Not sure how I feel. HOWEVER some good theories in there.
Logging this on here for my yearly pages count because apparently I read 400 pages of this so it's actually a decent chunk
If anyone sees this on their goodreads feed - no you didn't.... Unless you want to read it and kick your feet and giggle with me about how this is the best Elriel fanfic ever
How am I supposed to read the next ACOTAR book without wondering how Azriel’s BDSM business is doing?! I loved this book. Amazing spice with a good plot. A girl can’t ask for more🤷♀️
5 stars and maybe a fan. Or ice. Or someone to bootycall.
This fanfic is not for the faint of heart -or the faint of thighs. It's smut. Glorious, beautifully written, character-driven smut. And I devoured every deliciously sinful word of it.
DottieLoveGood takes some creative liberties with the world-building, but it never feels disjointed -everything aligns by the end in a way that feels earned, purposeful, and shockingly emotional for something that had me blusing like a sinner in church.
But let's talk about Azriel. This is the Shadowsinger the fandom obsesses over: commanding, broken, attentive, and sexy in a way that should be considered a public health hazard. We get to see him unmasked, unleashed, and utterly unforgettable. He's not just a fantasy-he's a force to be reckoned with.
The dynamic? Hot. The tension? Slow burn and then straight fire. The scenes? You'll want a partner to role-play with or, at the very least, a very loyal toy. (IYKYK).
What surprised me the most? The writing. It's not just steamy, it's stunning. Thoughtful. Lyrical in the way it builds desire, trust, and release. This isn't smut for smut's sake-it's a full-body emotional experience.
Highly recommend for anyone ready to step into the shadows and never come back. Just... maybe don't read it in public.
Um… not even sure what to say about this. I was ready to ship the Az/Elain situation all day. The premise of this book is ok. We get the spice we want from Az. Elain still feels too innocent to be a part of all of this, for someone so inexperienced it’s a little hard to believe that her interests would immediately not only be into bondage (I’m sure we could all be convinced when looking to hookup with Az), but so quickly dive into it headfirst. However, it’s fan fiction and the backstory of these two has been laid out and the entire fandom wants these characters together. I wanted to read about Az, not so much Elain- she’s too innocent to me and this book didn’t help change that- she still has the innocent young woman feel to me. It is written well, and the spice is 5 chili peppers!
