Mistress in the Making #3

Daring Declarations

Rate this book
First, he showed his thoughtful generosity. Then he shared his risqué humor. Now it’s time he declares everything… If only he didn’t constantly wrestle with words!

An evening at the opera could prove Lord Tremayne’s undoing when he and his lovely new paramour cross paths with his sister and brother-in-law. Introducing one’s socially unacceptable strumpet to his stunned family is never done. But Daniel does it anyway. And it might just be the best decision he’s ever made, for Thea’s quickly become much more than a mistress—and it’s time he told her so.

Thea’s fallen under the enticing spell of her new protector. How could she not when his very presence, every kindness and written word has utterly seduced her senses? Yet her mind insists on knowing more, such as why must Lord Tremayne pummel his face in boxing matches and be so abrupt in person? Curiosity turns to baffled amazement when his sister seeks out Thea, begging advice. If that weren’t surprising enough, when circumstances conspire and Thea arrives—unannounced—at his home, she’s not only welcomed inside but confronted with more truths than she ever expected.

A lifelong Texan, Larissa writes steamy regencies and sexy contemporaries, blending heartfelt emotion with doses of laugh-out-loud humor. Her heroes are strong men with a weakness for the right woman.

Avoiding housework one word at a time (thanks in part to her super-helpful herd of cats >^..^<), Larissa daydreams about brownies, chocolate-covered peanuts, and 007. She’s been a clown, a tax analyst, and a pig castrator (!) but nothing satisfies quite like seeing the entertaining voices in her head come to life on the page.

Wonderful Final Installment

I thoroughly enjoyed the first two books of this Mistress in the Making series. It isn't a series in the truest sense. Rather, each book is an installment of a serialized novel. This book completes the series. Throughout all the stories, both the hero and heroine have their own growth arcs. At the series’ start, each was vulnerable in his/her own way. Regency romances in particular, as happens in most historical romances, usually feature near-perfect people, at least physically. So I loved that this hero not only had a debilitating stammer, but it figured significantly into the plot. I love it when characters drive plot in fiction. But he is an utterly endearing and swoon-worthy hero, as we saw in book two with his delightfully romantic letters and gestures. The heroine has her own insecurities and vulnerabilities. In this book, we see these growth arcs neatly and naturally tied up in a satisfying way. The hero's family was great in this book as well. I highly recommend this serialized novel for its delightful humor and well-rounded, believable, and relatable characters.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

Terrific Historical

I really liked this historical it features a Lord who has a serious problem with stuttering and I can really relate to him as I have a stuttering problem as well although I have mostly taught myself how to overcome it I still stutter sometimes and I really liked the h in this story as she doesn’t make a big deal over the H’s speech. There is a nice story with a bit of steamy scenes and there is a very nice HEA at the end. All in all a very enjoyable historical novel.

The third book and conclusion of Mistress in The Making. This story is full of wonderful surprises. Thea meets Ellie, Daniel's sister and her husband. Ellie comes to Thea for mistress training. She wants to be sure her husband never roams from her bed. They learn some valuable information from one of Thea's friends. Thea immediately puts the information into action and Daniel thinks he is in heaven. Daniel has had several epiphanies and it has drastically changed his outlook on life. Ellie helps Thea do something for Daniel that will mean the world to him and it does have that effect. Thea returns to her squaller of a room to retrieve her mother's hair brush when the landlord begins to speak in vulgar ways and physically tries to assault her. Daniel's employee beats the landlord and Thea finishes him with a knock in the head with a heavy heeled boot. Daniel meets her at her new home and finds her trembling and not divulging what happened. But his employee did reveal what happened and Thea filled in the rest. Daniel took his friends and workers and five of them went after the landlord. Daniel returned to Thea satisfied the landlord would no longer do anyone harm. Then he sat Thea down for the talk of his life and explained what she meant to him. (sigh/swoon) What a wonderful romantic romance. I highly recommend it.

Lord Tremayne is a man of the peerage who has dealt with his demons in the only way he knows how. Through tactics such as tardiness, and tinkering with a mechanical orrery to avoiding situations where he must converse, Daniel is adept at masking his stutter. Equally, he immerses himself in his penitence via pugilistic endeavors.

Thea is similar to Daniel in that she is a survivor. She has done what was necessary to survive, even if it means that she would not be looked upon as a respectable woman. I found Thea to be a strong and positive person even though she had experienced neglect and was on the brink of starvation.

Daniel and Thea are two people who you want to succeed. The heat and eroticism between them is palpable on the page. The sweetness between the two of them is just as equally satisfying and heart warming. I was left feeling happy that these two people, who were so in need of love and acceptance, found and rescued one another.

I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this story as a part of the "Mistress in the Making" bundle thanks to Larissa Lyons via BookSirens. All opinions are my own.

This is the third and final installment and conclusion of Daniel and Thea's story. You will definitely want to read books 1 and 2 before starting this one, as they are all a continuation of one story. In this installment, Thea meets Daniel's sister, Ellie, who comes to her for mistress training to ensure she can keep her husband from straying. Ellie in turn helps Thea with something that will mean something very special to Daniel. Thea later is in some danger, and she emerges from the incident primarily unharmed but very shaken which Daniel notices. Daniel later reveals to her everything she means to him. This has been a very passionate and heartfelt journey of love from the start and the conclusion is touching and heartwarming. Both characters have really grown throughout the story which was nice to see. Really enjoyed the story and how it developed. Look forward to reading more by this author.

Regency Romance

A very bawdy story, yet tender as a widow finding herself living in the poorest of circumstances, the starving victim of a landlord who felt entitled to take liberties, is introduced to the life of a kept woman. Nervously, yet left with no other option, she enters a world previously unknown in her dry marriage to an old man. With the help of a friend in the trade, she is introduced to a young titled man. His abusive and tragic childhood had left scars. Stuttering left him incapable of normal speech. It was fashionable to take a woman to meet his needs. A wonderful love story suited both of them perfectly. Enjoyable, scandalous and heartwarming.

Something different

I read the 3 book series quickly as they are not long. Each details a different part of the short relationship between Thea and Daniel..
And each ends with you wanting to know more especially about Daniel and how he came to be the man he was.
The description of how Thea lived in 7 Dials was shocking and of course, accurate.
Nicely written, and different in both context and content.

This was definitely a sweet ending to these little novellas. It was finally made up for everything that the other two books lacked - some actual engaging interplay between the two characters beyond the bedroom or letters. Really enjoyed

A beautiful ending.
This book completed the series in such a lovely way. As I have read each book the characters have more and more pulled me into their story. This well-written book ends in such s touching way. I have other books by Larissa Lyons and I love her style of writing. I am so pleased to have the whole series on my kindle. This is a series I highly recommend.

Read the conclusion of this special couple

I loved everything about these two characters. Thea is beautiful , kind & ever so sweet to the people around her. Their story has sensuality, grace & sacrifice. Lord Tarmere sense of caring, kindness. His vulnerabilities are what make this novel real. The people that support & love him.
