Henry Jr. aka Henny has always been a playboy. Through his 2 year stint in college, he made it his personal challenge to knock down as many girls as he could…after all, college was for experimenting. With dapper features paired with an outgoing personality, Henny thinks he is God’s gift to women. That was the old him though. Henny is now ready to settle down with his on-again-off-again girlfriend Jessica, but because of his checkered past, moving forward is proving to be harder than he thought.

Jessica on the other hand is over it. Just when she’s at wit's end, Henny decides to act right, but for her, the damage is already done. Even though she forgave him, forgetting is the hard part. With their relationship already on the rocks, a friend from the past has Jessica wondering about life outside of her relationship with Henny.

In the midst of all of this, Henny is looking to start a business and he needs money. With a point to prove, he finds himself treading uncharted waters and quickly learns easy money isn’t always good money.

I loved me some Henny. He and Jessica were Shayla and Tristen 2.0. Matter of fact, they may have actually been worse than Shayla and Tristen. Henny has been taking Jessica through it since they were in college but, he’s finally trying to grow up and do right by her. His track record hasn't been the greatest so, there’s absolutely no trust. Between the cheating and the STDs, Jessica is finding it hard to take him at his word. There’s no denying the love these two have for each other but, they had some serious issues they needed to work through. And, Jessica's family constantly bad mouthing Henny plus, a blast from the past doesn’t help their already fragile relationship. Honestly, Jessica and Henny should’ve broken up a long time ago. The arguing and physical fighting were a lot. Please know, church girl Jessica you met in Bambi no longer exist. Fed up Jessica’s mouth is reckless, her hands are quick, and anybody can get it. Just ask Henny and Jenna. Whew chile! The toxicity was real with these two. Emotionally Scarred stayed on par with the rest of the books in this series. We have, yet, another toxic couple fighting to keep their dysfunctional relationship alive. But, we did at least get to see growth and maturity from Jessica and Henny. I appreciate the author not giving us 19 chapters of a break-up. Oh, and note to the author, Robin Givens was NOT in Waiting to Exhale. The actress you’re referring to is Lela Rochon. When I say Google is free, this is what I mean.

I Love Henny

I’ve enjoyed Henny since the first book about his sister…Although, I didn’t connect with Jessica or the relationship….I really enjoyed this story and I absolutely loved getting a small glimpse of the Carter Clan….There were some grammatical errors and research error (Robin Givens wasn’t in Waiting To Exhale)…Like the entire Carter Clan (especially, those kids) I hope to see Henny’s character along with Dirty & Aubrey in future work.

What a ride! This series over all was amazing and I thoroughly enjoyed the Carter family! With that said, this was my least favorite book in the series. I was not emotionally connected to Henny and Jessica the same way I was with Bambi and King or even Shayla and Tristen. He!! I was more connected to Spade and Saedy than these two 🥴 Jessica got on my nerves most of the book and I feel like Ladii Nesha tried too hard selling this relationship. Maybe if there was more character development from these two in the other books it would have felt more believable. We could have honestly ended the series with “Here we go again” and I would have been happy. What made the book enjoyable and deserving of a four star rating was the comedic aspect that I’ve grown to love from this author. The laughs were still plentiful and we got a good amount of cameos from the Carter clan. They honestly carried the book! I just love those bad @$$ kids so much and can’t get enough of them. I also enjoyed Dirty and Aubrey and honestly wouldn’t mind a story about them! The plot was good too and that was more enjoyable than the romantic aspect of the story.

The storyline with Hoeya was unnecessary and didn’t really add value to the overall book.

Henny and Jessica did have one thing in common….they both had trash Sperm donors. Henry Sr did finally get his act together after 5 books but he’s still on my $hit list. Rick, I have no words for that “man”.

Jenn was a piece of work and she had a whole lot of nerve in this book…with a sister like that, who needs enemies.

Vienna sausage Harris…..smh…..Smmfh

I’m going to miss King, Bambi, Shayla, Tristen, Peach, Kimmy, definitely Check and Bianca, the tribe and even Milo! I would be disappointed if we got a Christmas novella at all! *hint hint*

4.5 Who am I Jess? you’re everything ! 🥰

I am officially off the ride , man these 2 was definitely a handful henny & Jess but what did I expect from the on & off relationship through out the other series !!! I thought henny was gone for a minute those type of scene always bring tears cause it’s like I’m physically there and can see it all.. thank you they finally got it together … cause you felt the love they had for one another just so dang toxic !

Henry Sr shocked me I was so glad he finally got behind his son … cause all henny wanted was his approval . mama Lena going to Ride every time .

I would love more of Dirty & Aubrey I like them for some reason Chile!!

That one bad decision almost cost him everything but you live & you learn and so glad he learned .

& dirty did what needed to be done!

I liked Hen story! 🌟 & the pop up from the Carters. They will be missed truly!

WHEW!!!

What a rollercoaster of a toxic ride this has been with Henny and Jessica. There were some good, funny and bad moments in this book. Although Henny's track record hasn't been the greatest, it was good experiencing his growth at becoming a better man. He definitely is a smart man and was underestimated when it came to putting his business plan in motion. Church girl Jessica isn't one to play with, especially when it comes to Henny. Her mouth is lethal and her hands are deadly. There was no denying the love these two had for each other and im glad they were able to work through their issues and move forward with a new business and princess.

Henny finally chooses up

Henny and Jess were still going strong, even after some tumultuous years they would always come back to each other. For some reason I wasn't able to connect with this couple like the others. Their love couldn't be felt through the pages. I do know I am tired of these men in this series finding seat fillers, but not wanting the women to have new people at their show. I mean make it make sense.
Ultimately these two had heavy trust issues. Henny was finally doing right, but Jess let the past dictate her feelings. It felt like she needed to just move on if she felt he was beyond trusting because that back and forth wasn't getting it. Jessica's fake wannabe bougie family had some nerve when they were the definition of the pot calling the kettle black.
I liked the story line. It was unexpected and showed how important it was for Henny to stand on his own, even if it meant getting into some bs. The relationship parts were lack luster.
I still laughed a lot. That stranger danger part with Lia took me all the way out. Of course a sneak peak of the Carters is always welcome.

My heart

I can't review this book how I want to because I don't like giving spoilers, unless someone asks...this book was so much more than what I was expecting. I knew it would be good and toxic, funny, steamy and well written, but I wasn't expecting my deep emotions to be touched. I had to close the app when I finished because I couldn't stop my tears. This was really a good love story. But more than that, it was a story of growth, maturity, tenacity, forgiveness, redemption and more. Somebody had to learn to leave the table when love was no longer being served. And someone else had to learn that the grass isn't always greener on the other side. While someone else learned that what worked for them, may not work for someone else. So many life lessons. I thoroughly enjoyed this. And I'm in love with Lil Young Henny! And I'm glad he has Jess and Red to keep him in line.

Loved it!

This book definitely left me emotionally scarred. The drama between Henny and Jessica was all over the place. This book was well written, flowed well and the character development of Henny and Jessica was awesome. Tip, Rick and Harris were scum bags. Dirty was very protective of Henny and showed it by getting revenge. It was good to see the Carter family again. They really know how to actively come together. Now it’s time for Aubrey and Dirty to get their time to shine.

I didn’t expect to enjoy this book as much as I did. I knew I’d like it cause it’s Ladii Nesha but didn’t know how much I would enjoy their story. I knew I would get toxic (and they were toxic toxic lol), laughs and drama. It’s why I read this author’s work!! She never lets me down!! Henny and Jessica been toxic for a long time. I glad they figured it out!! Loved catching up with some of my faves…especially the tribe!!

— Henny and Jessica shared a toxic relationship like Tristen and Shayla. I’m glad they finally got it right. They both had crappy father figures.
— I liked Jessica’s friendship with Aubrey, she’s a real one. She reminds me of the bond shared between Shayla, Bianca and Bambi. Aubrey and Dirty are cute and funny. — Don’t get me started on Jenna, Harris and Asia.
— I love how Nesha keeps the jokes rolling throughout the story to enhance the entertainment.

Outstanding writing... Never Disappoints! The growth that was displayed by Henny came full circle. Forgiveness, healing, maturity and determination to make change were all evident. This author's pen is so impressive with the balance of humor & real life issues. She keeps me in stitches while dropping gems.

Great Job!

This was such a great book!! I’m so glad Henny got his own story. He put Jess through so much it was almost past repair. I’m glad they both got it together and forgave each other. Always great to see the Carter Family.

I enjoyed Henny and Jess’ story a lot more than I thought I would. It was entertaining and seeing the characters from the previous books make appearances also made this book ten times better. Jessica had more personality than I thought, she is so funny. I knew that Henry’s dad was very traditional, but this book went deeper into his relationship with his father which was also something I wanted to see. Henry and Jess were toxic, but it was the relatable kind, as crazy as that sounds. I mean, no one is as toxic as Tristen and Shayla. If they could work through it, anyone can. I can’t complain about this story at all. I’m very sad that this series is finally over for me. This was truly a fun ride. I have to re-read this when I fall into my yearly reading slumps.

My boy Henny

I really enjoyed this book. The way the author took a background character and fully fleshed him out was really good to read. I felt Jessica throughout her whole journey. There were times when I thought she was doing the most and being really insecure. But I remembered what it was like to have someone turn you into that and create those insecurities. I ended up understanding her crazy and feeling for her. I loved the growth from Henny and how it ended. I also loved the cameos from King, Bambi , and the kids. I swear Lia is hilarious and had me cracking up.

🔥 as always!

I love everything about Ladii Nesha’s books! There is always so much going on that I jump on the rollercoaster and barely breathe until the end! I knew I would love Henny. He was always a side bae for me, and although he was shady and sneaky, he was also a man trying to right his wrongs. Jessica is a definite fav for me. When we first met her, she was so well-mannered, but after the toxic relationship between her and Henny took over, baby girl was not for the games, and I loved it!

I’m emotionally scarred NOW!

I’m at a lost for words. I knew Henny was on some stuff but Jess is like a mini wrecking ball and I was not ready. Again Ms. Nesha has penned a heart warming, down to earth, thrilling, and hilarious story. If you are not aware jump on this train because these characters are everything and it was beautiful seeing updates from the hood rich and famous🥰🥰🥰😂😂😂. Awesomeness definitely looking for more.

Toxic Love

If you thought Tree and Shay was toxic, Henny and Jessica have them beat! This book made me mad and made me cry. Jessica was so scared that she couldn't see that Henny was truly changing. Henny wanted redemption and tried to right his wrongs with Jessica. Of course I had unlimited laughs. King and the tribe are a mess and keep you on your toes.

very very good

I so love a book with good character growth and Henny indeed grew into grown man status. Loved the snippets of Carters. Much need laughs after the cries I had. Lawd that breakup scene was something else. Very real and deja vu-ish. Happy they grew up in order to grow together
I’m ready to read about these bad a** Carter kids in college.

Bravo 👏 👏

This author hooked me with her Bambi series and I have yet to be disappointed! I am so happy that Jess & Henny worked things out but she ain't have to scare me like that! Also I was most proud of the way Henny & his dad's relationship evolved. I was smiling on the inside 😊 Great job 👏

These people are my guilty pleasure. I just can't get enough of them. This couple was crazy AF! I just can't with either of them. I literally was heartbroken and shocked during this rollercoaster of a journey. This is ratchet at its best. I will be reading the cousin and the best friend story. Hint to the author. This was will written, characters, dialogue, pacing of the story....all perfection. This was a great read.

*Spoiler alert* Emotionally Scarred was a great roller coaster ride of love between Henny and Jessica, don’t worry they do get that happily ever after! I’m a reader that loves any update on previous characters, so if The Carters are there, count me in! Just imagine how I felt when E40 and the crew popped up!

Toxic AF but you can't help but to root for them

Baby Henny and Jessica are the epitome of toxic. There will be times when you wanna shake both of them and say just break up already! This story is a true emotional rollercoaster and when you add in the nutty family members on both sides, it adds for a toxic love story that you can't help but read until the end to see how everything ends for everyone.

Hennything is possible

Henny and Jessica story didn’t let me down one bit. Henny really went from a boy to a man and it was so good to read about. Jessica really had me screaming she was bat shyt crazy!!! But she a rider for sure. Just when I thought these characters couldn’t do more damage, this author threw another dysfunctional couple that I love to hate and like after lol. Definitely recommend
