ELLIOT He doesn’t typically answer his fan mail allowing his manager to do the work for him. Something out of the ordinary sparks his interest. A CD with the most hypnotic voice falls out of the parchment with a note from the Parting Wish Foundation members. His only thought after listening to the CD is finding the woman behind the voice.

This is my first time reading anything by this author and the one thing that caught my attention with this book was the blurb, however after giving this book a read I honestly have to say that this wasn’t for me. There was so much promise for this book and it had such great potential, but how it was executed just didn’t work out all that well. I also noticed that this was quite quick paced, whilst reading through it really did seem like it was only a couple of weeks that passed, but in reality that wasn’t the case, it was actually a few months, but with how the events played out it seemed completely different. At times I did find it difficult to actually keep focused on the story and had to keep taking breaks, even though I sometimes just felt like just not finishing it, I’m glad I never did come to the decision to do that because I got to see how the story played out. I tend to read anything, even if it’s not something that I would normally branch into, I’m always happy to try something once. I noticed that this was written in the third person and whilst I’m not a lover of those books, I was happy to give this a try, but I just couldn’t get past how half of it was written. For example, whenever you refer to your parents, you tend to go ahead by using the terms Mom and Dad, yet if you’re in a place of business and you work with one of your parents you then will go ahead and most likely use their actual names as a way of showing them and others respect; with this book Madeline would constantly refer to her parents as either Mom and Dad or their actual names and this would happen even in the same sentences, but it was literally constant and truthfully it drove me insane because to me it just seemed rude and disrespectful. There just seemed to be so many things that actually bothered me whilst reading and whilst I understand that this book was in a way an attempt at breaching a sensitive subject, Sarah Stein honestly could have gone about doing things a lot differently. One thing that stood out more than anything which I found really hard and heart-breaking and also made me a little hurt is that I understand what it’s like to lose someone so young (a sibling) and whilst I know how much it hurts, the fact that Sarah went ahead and literally treated Madeline as if her parents didn’t acknowledge her or attempted to leave her because of not being able to handle losing Skye just made me pretty annoyed because it’s not nice experiencing that. Losing a loved one isn’t easy, but if you’ve experienced it yourself, then to write about it is completely different, you have to breach this subject so carefully and to me it seemed as if Sarah didn’t do that. I understand it hurt Madeline when it came to losing Skye, but still at least she was able to be with her, get to spend time with her, as being honest when I went through this myself, I never got to have those final moments, I had to deal with it in such a way that wasn’t easy. No offense to the author, it honestly does seem that she hasn’t put too much thought into this story as whilst it has so much potential there’s just so many things that don’t work. I could honestly list out all the points that for me didn’t work, but truthfully that could leave me typing for a bit and I don’t want it to seem like I’m rambling with this review. I thought that Elliot was such an intriguing character, it seemed like he genuinely liked Madeline for who she was and he seemed like such a caring guy, which is why I couldn’t understand why Madeline made some of the decisions that she did in regards to him. At times though I do think that Elliot could have been a little bit more strong minded because if he truly cared for her, then he would have done everything he could to be there for her and show her that she’s got his support. There’s most likely so much more I could say about this book, but I honestly don’t want to ruin it for you. I know for a fact that everyone has different opinions, but whilst this wasn’t for me, I suggest that you go ahead and try this out for yourself as you might find you like the story. For me I’m unsure if I will read any more of this authors work, but who knows maybe in the future I will try again, but for now the door is left open as to what I decide to do.

With everything becoming a whirlwind in her life, will Madeline and her parents be able to carry on with their lives and attempt to move forward for the sake of Skye??? When her mom puts Madeline in a position that could essentially ruin their family, what will she do?? How will things work with Madeline and Elliot?? Will he be everything that you could wish for in a guy or is she set out to be disappointed???
This is about love and loss of a sister and it is a really emotional story. Madeline absolutely adored her younger sister Skye and always spent a lot of time with her but while at the part Skye collapsed and was unconscious and taken to hospital where they diagnosed Skye with cancer and that completely devastated Madeleine's world, Madeline and her parents found a foundation that granted wishes to sick children but then Skye took a turn for the worst and died so suddenly breaking Madeline's world apart. Eliot is a singer in a famous band called Phantom Allure and when he heard a woman's voice on a demo CD it captivated him and he knew that he wanted to meet her but what Madeline didn't know is that her sister Skye had given her wish to Madeline and she ended up singing with Eliot at one of there concerts without knowing that it was because of Skye. This book takes you on a journey loss, grief, hope, love and emotional situations that had me in tears so many times and I couldn't put this book down as I had to keep turning the pages to see what else would happen. This is the first book that I have read by Sarah Stein but definitely not the last as the depth of the story and writing takes you in right from the and start and keeps your attention until the last page and I definitely recommend you read this book and I look forward to reading more of her books in the future.

a single WISH is a standalone contemporary romance written by Sarah Stein. This emotional page-turner tells the story of Madeline and Elliot, and it was impossible to put down. Madeline, a 20-year-old up-and-coming singer, has a seven-year-old sister who falls ill while at the park. Her sister’s illness puts her whole family in a tailspin, and Madeline is forced to try and keep her parents from falling apart.
Elliot is the lead singer for the popular rock band Phantom Allure. Madeline is a big fan, and she’s excited when her neighbor asks her to the show. Madeline and Elliot’s chemistry is instant, and the sparks fly. However, she feels guilty for having fun while her family is going through such a difficult time.
I enjoyed reading a single WISH, and I was thoroughly engrossed in Madeline and Elliot’s story.
This is a sad yet sweet story about losing a sister and the love of that generous spirit. Madeline’s younger sister, Skye, was diagnosed with cancer. Madeline and her parents would do anything for Skye. They located the Parting Wish Foundation who would grant a wish for a terminal patient, but Skye instead made sure the miracle of her wish would go to her sister. Unknown to Madeline, Skye had a CD sent to Elliot, a member of a well-known band, so he could hear Madeline sing. Elliot had her join the band at a concert to sing with them. With all that Skye was going through, her wish was for her sister’s happiness. The reader will be taken through all sorts of emotions in this story line. But it’s the selfless love that gives hope and meaning to our lives. Would Madeline realize the love her sister had for her? Would she and Elliot be brought together through Skye’s gift to them?
A Single Wish is the first book by this author that I have read, and enjoyed following Madeline and Elliot's story. What drew me to the book was the description, it sounded like a sad but wonderful story. The timeline was over several months, the way the book is written makes it seem like only a few weeks. Although I cannot completely understand the lost of a sibling to cancer, the grief the family felt could be felt on the pages.

This is an emotional story with Madeline's little sister being sick and dealing with her parents falling apart. Then she meets Elliott and is falling fast and dealing with her guilt for having some happiness during her families hard times. It's a short read, moves quickly and smoothly with detailed and descriptive scenes and is a beautifully written story.
