The Harmony Guides are a series of highly practical, illustrated guides to hand knitting and crochet, explaining basic techniques from start to finish. The companion volume to 450 Knitting Stitches, this book introduces hundreds of additional stitches and patterns, including lace panels, cable patterns and panels, and patterns for texture and color.
This is such an excellent all-around collection of stitch patterns: Knits & purls, ribs, cables, lace, slipped-stitches & mosaic, and edgings. The row-by-row directions appear to be 100% accurate, and the abbreviations are standard. All that's missing is charted directions.
This is a good reference book, but not as thorough as the Treasury of Knitting Patterns books (which I like better and refer to more). This is nice in that the photos are in color, but I would like more descriptive text about the various patterns with guidance as to recommended yarn weight and uses.
This book has clear descriptive patterns, easy to follow, and knit. Some very beautiful patterns here. I first read this at the library and have put it on my to buy list.
