He created the character Sherlock Holmes in 1887 for A Study in Scarlet, the first of four novels and fifty-six short stories about Holmes and Dr. Watson. The Sherlock Holmes stories are milestones in the field of crime fiction.
Doyle was a prolific writer. In addition to the Holmes stories, his works include fantasy and science fiction stories about Professor Challenger, and humorous stories about the Napoleonic soldier Brigadier Gerard, as well as plays, romances, poetry, non-fiction, and historical novels. One of Doyle's early short stories, "J. Habakuk Jephson's Statement" (1884), helped to popularise the mystery of the brigantine Mary Celeste, found drifting at sea with no crew member aboard.

A Must-Have For Every Holmes Fan - Flawless Kindle Edition
As a lifelong Sherlock Holmes fan, I can be picky about collections, but this Fingerprint 2018 edition is excellent.
You get all 4 novels in one place - A Study in Scarlet, The Sign of the Four, The Hound of the Baskervilles, and The Valley of Fear - in chronological order. For the price, it's unbeatable value.
What impressed me most about this Kindle version:
Formatting is clean and professional. No weird scanning errors, missing paragraphs, or broken sentences that you get with a lot of free public domain versions. The font is easy on the eyes, chapters are properly linked, and the table of contents actually works.
Easy navigation. You can jump between novels and chapters with one tap, which makes it perfect for re-reading favorite sections.
The stories themselves are timeless. Doyle's writing still holds up perfectly. From the first meeting of Holmes and Watson to the foggy terror of the Baskerville moor, it's all here in its original brilliance. If you've only seen the movies/shows, reading the original novels is a completely different experience.
Honest take: This isn't an annotated or illustrated scholarly edition - it's the pure, original text. Which is exactly what I wanted. If you're looking for footnotes and analysis, look elsewhere. If you want the complete, unabridged novels in a clean, readable, well-organized ebook you can carry everywhere, this is the one to get.
Highly recommended. Perfect for first-time readers and for fans who want a definitive digital copy on their Kindle.

Great Read but Very Long
Enjoyed the book greatly, but you warned it is very long. The Kindle version only showed page 538 instead of the actual pages I was on. So I never knew how many actual pages were in the book. But I was excited to make it to the end, and learned a lot about Sherlock.

Yet another excellent book by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle who has penned down excellent works of great Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. The extent of details that has been described in this book makes you keep going and crave for more. A good read for all fans of Sherlock Holmes.

I love anything Sherlock related, whether it’s in movies, books or games. It’s so interesting to see how his mind works or how he does things. Although it’s from Watson’s POV I love to see something of Sherlock’s POV for seeing the complexity of his mind.
