Frankly, it’s baffling why the methods taught in this book are not taught in schools and traditional academia. These methods aren’t new, in fact you’ve already used them. You used them to learn your mother tongue.

Hmn. This was a rather quick read but I think it definitely could stand to be scaled down. With that in all honesty this book offers nothing new or unique. On top of that, I don't think anything in this book would put college language professors to shame. All in all I cannot honestly recommend it.
2023 bk 60. I've had two different language courses in schools, tried using various cd-rom programs, when I stumbled on the Duolingo ap, but still recognized that maybe there was something else I could do to make the language learning go more smoothly. Van Niekerk makes several important points in this book and I believe that the Duolingo ap folks may have listened to him. Learning German is going more easily this round as I no longer attempt to memorize word lists, instead practicing fewer words for a longer period of time. I've picked up on knowledge from my past and his suggestions and have skipped the adult books - instead going for the children's bilingual books to reinforce the Duolingo lessons. This book backs up how I'm learning the language this time, but also gives some suggestions I had not considered so all-in-all, worth the money I spent on it.
Not boring at all, and very useful. I highly recommend reading this short book!
I'm so glad I decided to buy and read this gem of a book. Not only was it clear, concise, with quite a bit of smart, practical advice, but it was also FUN.
If you're interested in learning another language and you're unsure where to begin, this might be the guide book for you.
I highly recommend reading this book. It would also make a great present for someone interested in learning a new language.
The cover design and the full title are also very catchy.
It makes me so happy when self-taught individuals share their experiences. Writing a book is a great method of doing that and I'm happy this author did it because this book is uplifting and it's going to be useful to many people. It's going to have a positive outcome on whomever reads it and that's a great achievement, in my opinion.
Thank you for sharing your experience and providing delightful advice!
Now I just have to decide which language to learn first because there's two I would like to delve into.
It's the first English book in which I am not a native, and I could complete this book within three hours (I did another thing during reading also). The contents themselves focus on the point of this book. It's very entertaining, not much of a side story. Well, I have been learning my third language after reading this book and found out that my processing step is similar to the contents, and I could use other tips in the incoming future to explore the world of learning language.
It is more about teaching you how to maintain your motivation to learn until you succeed. Has a new viewpoint on what is important and how to best utilize your time and dedication to succeed. More than that though, it gives a roadmap of how to maintain desire to fluency. That is priceless!
