Can a wounded war hero get a second chance with the love he left behind?
War can change a man. It changed mine, and not for the better.
The military honored him as a hero but took far too much in return.

Adam was my high school sweetheart, my very first love.
Then he joined the military and we drifted apart.
Though we lost contact, I waited for him because no other man even came close to claiming my heart.
He left Griffinsfort strong, sexy, outspoken, charming, and smoking hot.
He returned broken, mentally, and physically – his self-confidence blown to hell along with his legs.
Confined to a wheelchair, my once love is now my grumpy neighbor.
His alluring smile is gone, replaced with profound sadness, depression and hopelessness.
I can’t stand to see him living a life of a recluse, wasting away more with each passing day.
But no matter how hard I try, his jaded heart just won’t let me in.
When nothing else works, I contact the only local veteran’s support group I can find for help.
Storm, the president of the Dark Slayers MC, a badass ex-military bikers club, arrived in an instant.
But my tortured hero is a stubborn loner and he is not eager to give The Slayers a chance.

That all changes when I get abducted right in front of him.
Beneath all the angst and self-doubt lays the heart of a true protector, so Adam springs into action.
The man I love will do anything to save me, even ask The Slayers for help.
But will The Slayers be able to save him? And will I live long enough to witness it?

PLEASE Hacker ’s story is the 15K words-long prequel story to the "Dark Slayers MC” hot and alluring romance series featuring bikers who will remind you why you like the bad boys so much. They’re protective, rough, and running on pure diesel and adrenaline.
Each book in the series is a standalone with a guaranteed happily ever after for the couple, though it is recommended to read them in order for maximum enjoyment.

I liked this book. It was a good introduction to the series. I love a good motorcycle romance so I definitely got storms story for 99 cents on kindle lol 😂 it was pretty spicy. Maybe like a 1.2-2 on the spice scale just cause there was only one scene (the novella was short so that’s to be expected) and it was kind of fade to black.
I enjoyed it. I’ve been needing short stories that are engaging from the beginning that I don’t have to think much about, and that’s as exactly this!

Short and sweet

I loved stories about the wounded warriors. It’s especially sad when they have had bad physical injuries that change their lives. It takes a strong woman to get past the barriers they put up because of this. Next one please

Great!

I chose this rating because this was a pretty good book. I really enjoyed all of the characters well most of all the characters. This was a book of determination, acceptance, protection, and believing in your self and what you could and can do. I really enjoyed Adam/Hacker and Angel story. I think the author did a great job with putting these two characters together. Great read!. I recommend this book to all romance readers and MC lovers..

best one of the series

Best book in the series. This can be read as a stand alone. Don’t even hesitate. Wounded vet with both physical and emotional traumas; combat wounded lost both legs from shins down. He’s a genius. Former military intelligence. The club dubs him HACKER.
The girl he grew up with has been waiting on him. Now that he’s right next door, he’s still so far away. She calls in the Dark Slayers MC’s military outreach group to help and they do a wellness check.
Both parties, the MC & Hacker, banter back and forth, but no real commitment made on either part. Until his girl gets kidnapped. Then Hacker’s all in and so is the MC, led by Storm. The insights into how Hackers mind works are cool, this guys mind is sharp as a tack. Really enjoyed this installment in the series- it focused on the story, was really well paced, it has heart. So well told I wanted more.

Engaging Quick Read

Hacker is the introduction to the Dark Slayers MC. I like the uniqueness of this MC, most of them former military trying to work through their demons. They are good guys but still bad boys who will get their hands dirty to right a wrong. In Hacker you find a former military intelligence officer who is giving up on life. Angel is the girl he left behind that never stopped loving him. The other members of the MC are just as interesting and I look forward to reading their stories.

With a compelling storyline full of MC action, suspense, drama, and romance, Hacker is an engaging story from the first page to the last. It is a quick read with only eight chapters, but each is engaging. Storm and Zoe's story is next, and I can hardly wait to read it.

excellent

I have never enjoyed a short story more in my life. It has a lot of action packed into this book. I loved it, can you tell? We get to see the events that brought Hacker to the club. We also get to see the string of events that brought his Angel and him together. Sweet read. Highly recommend this is read even if it is a short read. The characters are well developed and highly entertaining. It even includes a fight with another MC…action packed read. HEA, no cheating, no cliffhanger. Beware, it will make you want to read the entire series.

Adam and Angel

When two people fall in love but tragedy strikes and leaves one wheelchair bound, how does one overcome the short comings. Storm and his MC received a call to help a friend out and get him out of his funk being a disabled veteran, sometimes a bullet is the solution but not on Storms watch. One phone call for help and the MC is there and Adam now has a brotherhood and woman by his side. Grab your copy and enjoy the ride.

This was a sweet short MC novella. I liked the plot, the characters and the ending. I think it was different from other MC books. I like the plot of dealing with a disabled vet. I would recommend this novella.

Great Start!!

This was a excellent start to the series! War hero lost his way and the woman who can’t let him go. Can the Dark Slayers MC work to mend it all? Definitely recommend this book and author.

Excellent read

What a great book. I'm not into short stories as much but this one was wonderful. Hacker was a great man and I loved how they came together. Would have been neat to see their past life possible. But this is wonderful.

The couple: Adam and Angel

Romance trope: MC
Series: Dark Slayers MC
Length: 66 pages

Plot: Adam is back from war, but wounded and changed. But his next door neighbor, Angel, has always loved him and still does. When he finally gives in to her, she is ripped from their home, kidnapped by a vicious motorcycle gang. He calls on the only people who can help help: another MC who works with wounded vets like himself.

Commentary: This was a prequel - I didn't read carefully going into this, because I hardly ever read separate prequels. And it was a little confusing at first because we get the couple's pov, plus the pov of the (I assume) main character of the next book in the series. It was a little rished, but I liked having a hero who wasn't physically perfect but whom the heroine still saw as perfect, no matter what.

Grammar/formatting: could have used another pass with an proofreader

Next book in the series: Storm

This series best get better writing/dialog and more depth if I'm gonna finish it. I will absolutely give book one a chance because this is a 67 page prequel but if it keeps as is.. well it won't be for folks like myself.

It's really hard for me to have the above opinion because I'll give just about any author, writing style, topic or whatever the case a chance but this book really did give off high school lit assignment vibes. The dialog was stale forced and there was no depth to the book. It's like when someone explains something they haven't the slightest clue about and have done zero research on. Doesn't track and is cringe worthy to the max.

Understandable that women don't often portray/speak from a males perspective with the most accuracy but this was.... a gross oversight.

I do hope that Storm (book 1) does better in the above respects through the natural growth that comes from publishing and receiving feedback. Here's hoping.

Normally, I would not read bicker club books because of the rape and other harsh themes, but this one was really lovely. It had a wheelchaired military man named Adam who became gravely injured and lost the ability to use his legs, and it also had a curvaceous, sweet female named Angel who only wanted this man to be himself. I admit that I enjoy a little angst, so I was a little let down by the brief suspicions that he wasn't the right fit for her. However, they were quickly allayed.
It would make a pleasant little lunchtime read, but I wish it had been longer—maybe 150–200 pages as it felt a little rushed. Rape was mentioned, but it never occurred. We have Storm the Leader, who is a humorous guy and such a protector who is watching out for veterans to assist them reintegrate into society. I can't wait to read his book.

Though rushed, this fun mini-read from a new to me author has layers as it offers Angel in love with her physically wounded warrior before his enlistment and now but Adam hasn’t learned to cope with his new reality yet. Trying to help, Angel finds a support group for Adam but he rejects them insisting there’s nothing they can do for him.

That changes when Angel’s kidnapped by an MC before Adam’s eyes. Frustrated he can’t leap into battle, Adam remembers he has names, a number and a phone to contact the support team that insisted there was nothing they wouldn’t help him handle. The boys bring the action in this foundation tale making this reader anxious for the next outing.

Wow, this was not good. First off, I thought this was about Adam/Hacker and Angel. Turns out it was mostly about Storm. Don't get me started on him...dramatic eye roll. I was looking forward to reading about Hacker and what he went through and how he comes back from it. Yeah, that didn't happen. One minute, he's in a completely depressed and giving up on everything, and 5 minutes later, everything is sunshine and rainbows. Yeah, that's not gonna happen. I'm also confused about if he's a paraplegic how did he cross his stubs. That's what the author wrote... shaking my head. This had such great potential, and it tanked, I'm sorry to say. There were also words missing which made for interesting reading. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this book.

big improvement

Not sure of writing order but this book was filled with a relatively lively entertaining storyline that held the readers attention. It flowed and was engaging while keeping me wanting to continue reading. I felt like I wanted to get to know all the members of the MC not just the main characters. Angel had. Real personality not a ditzy bumbling airhead like other female leads in other Dark Slayer books…I’ve read book 1& 2 then this one, so 4 and beyond better get better!

great read

Hacker is the introduction to the Dark Slayers MC.
Hacker is a former military intelligence officer who is giving up on life. Angel is the girl that never stopped loving him, that he left behind when he joined the service. She calls 0n the dark Slayers to help him out of his depression. When Angel gets kidnapped Hacker comes out of it and does everything he can to get her back with the help of the Slayers.
The storyline is great with a lot of MC action, suspense, drama, and romance.

A great start for the series!

Loved Hacker and Angel love story. They were high school, sweetheart. Until Hacker comes back from the military in a wheelchair. Angel is worried about him calls in Storm the Prez of Dark Slayers MC, who are all former military men taking care of their own, forming a brotherhood to watch each other. Not wanting a brother or sister to fall through a crack. It's fast-paced and keeps you on the edge. When you're done, you're ready for the next one.

A great start to this series.

Ms. Ray has written an interesting and moving book to start the Dark Slayers series. Hacker and Angle's story proves that true love transcends anything. The book is well written with a balance of romance and action. Don't pass up this book and continue with the series. I can recommend them all

The storyline moves quickly and entices the reader. You'll read this in one sitting. It is a quick read and the characters definitely have personality.
This is the prequel to the Dark Slayers MC so we get introduced to a few characters, rough and gruff but hearts of gold. It's all about brotherhood.

Angel and Hacker

I enjoyed the storyline and characters and would likely read the rest of the series. The reason I only gave 3 stars, was due to the number of spelling and grammatical errors throughout this “short” prequel.

Short n sweet. Might only be 67pgs but was typical Dark Slayer yummyness.

I read after all other 13 books in the series & enjoyed it just as much. They deserved their HEA

Adam and Angel

A fast paced action packed thriller that had me on the edge of my seat. Adam and Angel are adorable together. This may have been a novella but it packed a big punch, what a great introduction to the Dark Slayers MC.
