Bond Runner

Rate this book
In a world where alphas and omegas have only been capable of choosing their own destinies in recent decades, many couples have made families of their own without the aid of a biologically-predetermined mating bond. George was the product one such union: a doting father, a loving mother, and nothing pushing them to be together except their own choices.

After George’s happy family was broken apart by her mother’s love for a mate she was biologically drawn to, George thought she’d never let herself be so preposterous as to fall for a man like her stuffy step-father over an amazing man like her dad, mate bond or not. But when multiple biological mates catch George’s scent in a city that is increasingly proving itself to be too small for her to escape them, how long does she have before the love of her life, her fiancé, gives up on the relationship they chose for themselves without any silly biology pushing them around?

Bond Runner a polyamorous, reverse-harem steamy romance featuring non-shifter omegaverse elements and plenty of comedy. This book is a standalone prequel to the Hartverse series and is set in the same universe.

A new take on Omegaverse...and I liked it!!

In this new contemporary take on OV, Alphas and Omegas have bondmates, and more rarely Omegas have more than one mate called Bondbrothers. Bondbrothers will have matching birthmarks though they don't always find each other. Neither do mates. Only about 50% of Alphas and Omegas find their mates. So Alphas and Omegas date and marry for love. They can have induced heats to have children (because only a bondmate will trigger an Omega's heat). But the downfall is that these relationships are ticking timebombs. At any point the Alpha or Omega could run into their bondmate and be thrown into a heat or rut, and from that point on be be biologically/instinctually pulled to that mate only. Once you meet your bondmate you are legally married by law and any prior marriage will be nullified.

So in this world we meet 12 yo George, the h, who is happy as a clam, with a loving mom and dad. One day at the grocery store, her mom runs into her bondmate and rips George's happy life apart. She hates the situation, she hates her new step-father, and vows from that point forward no matter what she will choose the path her life takes not biology.

Adult George is an omega with a massive chip on her shoulder. An Alpha boyfriend she's had since college, Matt, who she likes because he's not like most Alphas. He's more sensitive and progressive. He might not be perfect but Matt is George's choice.

Until one day on the subway she gets a whiff of her bond mate....and she runs.

I wasn't sure I was gonna like this. I usually don't read books with love triangles. Those are just ridiculous angst-bombs I shy away from. But this was a little different. I actually couldn't put this down. It definitely was an emotional rollercoaster for sure. Talk about a badass Omega, George didn't just fight to change society around her, she literally fought her biology. It was always gonna be her choice.

There were times where she also needed a good slap upside the head for a reality check but she had good friends and family to help deliver and to support her through this crazy rollercoaster. My heart felt for her, my heart felt for Matt, my heart felt for her bondmates. And in the end she made the best choice.

I'm not gonna tell you what happens, you'll just have to experience it for yourself.

I really enjoyed this. I read it in almost one sitting but fell asleep with only 30 pages left because I just couldn't keep my eyes open anymore lol. It's a good love story. Though I do wish there had been a little bit more steamy bits but it was still good the way it was. I can't wait to see what we get next.

Even though this is an ARC review, I will always shoot you straight. I received a copy from the author is exchange for an honest review.

DNF @ 32% - another annoying attempt at sanitizing Omegaverse. The heros are lackluster. Not feeling any emotions. Not connecting with the characters/story/premise. Lots of telling instead of showing.

I just kept a reading just wanting to get to the part that the FMC and the MMCs have an actual interaction but that doesn’t happen until basically 3/4s in. She was with her ex and hung up on him for way too long. It’s not what the story should have been about but it was. They didn’t even have a great relationship so it was hard to even empathize with her. Once I got to the point that she wasn’t just “pumping into” her guys, I was too far in to stop.

I’m going to try and just get the gist of everything that didn’t work for me. This book could have been cut in half, her whole relationship with Matt lasted longer than necessary, the FMC was annoying and childish at times, I didn’t like the third person POV that felt confusing at times, the writing style wasn’t for me, there were awkward summary jumps at the beginning that we didn’t need (could have just started the book where the time jumps stopped and found a better why to explain how she got where she was), there wasn’t an sort of emotional connection with the guys, the sex scenes where cringy and sometimes just gross (why was snotty used as a descriptive word during these scenes?), and finally, when they get together, there’s more weird time jumps and pointless moments instead of developing their relationship.

I was between 1-2 stars but considering I didn’t hate this book I was just deeply disappointed, I think it’s more of a 2 star rating for me.

I’ve recently gotten into Omegaverse books and wanted to give this book a shot. The premise was interesting, but I really hated the writing style. The third person POV was awkward, as was the overall diction and spacing. It made it difficult to read.

I also didn’t care for Georgie and found myself annoyed at how badly she tried to make things work with Matt when he was clearly someone she was settling for and her best friends kept saying they weren’t good together.

George is an omega who hates Fated mates/mate bonds because her mothers mate bond is what led her to leaving her father.

Determined to make her own choices she begins dating an alpha and becomes engaged to him. A turn of events has her in close proximity with her Fated mate. However, instead of 1 she has 4.

Hell bent and determined to ignore the mate bonds, she continues to try and live with her boyfriend. One night of coming into contact with one of her mates and her begging for his knot changes everything.

This book has so much tension, angst, dirty talk, spice and eventually a HEA.

This omegaverse is human based, no shifters. . I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This was an interesting take on omegaverse, where the omega had already fallen in love with someone before she met her fated mates or bonded mates or whatever term you want to use for it.

I felt that this book didn't work as a romance for me because for so much of the story, it's about the omega's (our FMC, George) relationship with Mark, who is not one of her bonded mates. And because of that, as well as the trauma caused when she was 14 and her mom immediately decided to divorce George's father when she met her bonded mate... George simply doesn't want to be with her fated mates. The story is more about George's growth as a person and how she finally faces up to her past. It's more women's lit (focused on the FMC's journey) than it is romance.

For much of the book, George is running from the four guys. I could understand why. One frustrating thing about omegaverse is how the omega's bodies basically screw them over. George doesn't care that her body biologically wants those particular alphas. She wants the freedom to choose -- and she chooses Mark.

However... her relationship with Mark was written in such a way that it didn't sound like a healthy relationship. Mark came across as manipulative, using emotional blackmail to get George to do what he wanted. So I couldn't really root for her relationship with him to work out. I'm not sure if the author wrote it this way to make readers root for her relationship with the bonded guys instead.

But I didn't feel that we really got to see George develop a relationship with her four guys. Mostly they stay away from her because they are respectful of the fact that she's grieving the end of a long-term relationship, and they want her to come to them of her own free will. So they give her space. When they're not giving her space, they're having sexual encounters due to the strong chemical attraction and biological pull towards each other, as bonded mates. In the end, I didn't feel that they really got to know each other or developed feelings for each other. I just felt that they wanted each other due to the physical attraction and chemistry between alphas and their fated omega.

I didn't really like George's character, also. She's a flawed character, which I could identify with. But I don't like my FMC to be quite that flawed. Like, she keeps caving in to what Mark wants simply because he will give her hurt and wounded looks if she doesn't. She feels guilty, so she ends up putting aside her own needs in order to meet his. This was hard to read cos it was almost borderline abusive, even though Mark wasn't overtly controlling and was never violent.

George tended to bury her head in the sand and wouldn't address issues head-on, even though she says she likes to confront people and talk things out, work things out. She lies or keeps secrets, not only from Mark but also from her two best friends. It was a bit self-destructive or self-sabotaging. Although near the end of the book she says she wants to try to deal with her issues, we don't get to see her actually doing that.

The story is told in third-person, but all from George's POV. No POV from any of the guys, which was frustrating. I didn't feel that we really got to know any of them. We were given some information about each guy's background, but more of Ren's than any of the others. There's Daddy kink with one of them, but although ropes were mentioned by someone else, there are no bondage scenes in the book.

Out of all the guys, I liked Mikhail the least. Because in the first sex scene, he deliberately throws her into heat and then tortures her by refusing to knot her. Actually, he thought he was being noble by not having actual sex with her because he knew she was too out of her mind with the heat to be able to give proper consent. But at the same time, he was quite cold and cruel to her during the heat, taunting her and making her beg. There were elements of humiliation and voyeurism (he video calls the other guys to show them how she's frantically trying to ease herself) and it was a bit hard to read.

Ren just comes across as a horndog, albeit one with layers to him, and Peter is the everlastingly calm and rational one (also the Daddy). I think I liked Leon the most, because he started texting back and forth with George from the first day they met. He won her trust by being friendly and non-threatening, and demonstrating that he wanted to get to know her as a person. I didn't see any of the other three show this level of interest in wanting to know her or speak with her.

There are a few editing errors like misplaced commas and an occasional typo, but nothing too glaring. I wish there had been more non-sexual interaction between George and her guys. I just didn't feel that they had an emotional connection. If they had, I might have given this book 5 stars.

I have received this ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Bond Runner was a pretty fun omegaverse book. When I was first asked to jump into this book, I'll admit that I was pretty excited to do so. I've always had a soft spot when it comes to omegaverse books and desperately needed a new one to dive into. So, it's safe to say that I volunteered as tribute pretty quickly.

In this, you will meet George. Now I really liked getting to know her and how she always stuck to her beliefs. Yet, I didn't really understand the whole relationship with Matt. It just felt like she was settling. Especially when she found out her true mates while dating him. I feel like if they were friends that would have been fine. Then again, he was one of those people who didn't think omegas should be friends with alphas. Which, yes, was weird to me.

As for her mates? I definitely loved them as well. They challenged one another for the better. They also helped her heal in certain ways because of her past. Her mother was a huge obstacle that she needed to deal with before she could truly move on and be happy. Eventually that happened but I did like the tension, banter, and sexy romance that brewed between them throughout the book.

Even though I liked the book, I'll admit that this still needs some editing. It's a pretty big book but throughout some chapters it got confusing. Not sure what George's pronouns are but it kept changing from she to he and then back to she in some areas. Then there was a conversation between her and Matt but suddenly Carter was in the picture talking to her instead.

Once those little mistakes are fixed, I think this could be a really good book for everyone to enjoy.

Wow, wow, wow! I started reading this and just kept reading - I needed to know what was going to happen with George and her Alphas. George is an Omega in a world where Omegas and Alpha are choosing who they want to be in a relationship with and George feels deeply for her fiancé Matt, even though he's not her biological bond mate. But the law allows that if her biological bond mate(s) find her, then she is considered legally their wife regardless of whether she was already married. One day George's life changes when she's scented by her bond mate whom she narrowly escapes - she's now a bond runner trying to hide from him. Then she finds out that she has multiple bond mate s who'll do whatever they can to convince her they're the Alphas for her. And those Alphas are each effing sexy. I really enjoyed the story - the story just kept going with new twists and turns. Enjoyed the humorous touches too. The h and her Hs are all strong, interesting characters and the side characters just really added to things. And the SEX was so very hot and erotic - multiple partners, denial of gratification, spanking, knotting, piercings, light DDLg, heats, light dub con, and more. I enjoyed this enough that I bought a copy even though I received it as an ARC.

Having grown somewhat bored and dissatisfied with the genre of late, frustrated by heroines whose strong will and determination crumble to nothing in the presence of their alpha, I very nearly passed this one by, particularly since it was a debut novel, and we all know how ropey those can be. I never once expected it to be a book that utterly engaged me quite in the way this one did. Nor did I suspect it would have me awake into the early hours of the morning because I just didn't want to stop reading it.

There were just so many things I loved about this book. I loved that we got to know George by seeing her life in-depth, by seeing her with family, by seeing her with friends. I loved that the alphas all had distinct personalities, none of which felt cliched or trite. I loved that all the characters were perfectly imperfect in ways that made them feel so truly human and normal. I loved that our alphas were as varied in nature, stature and looks as if they were heroes in a contemporary romance. I loved that although this was a world with issues, particularly the fact that finding your mate could mean current relationships were disregarded by law, it did not expect omegas to be meek and submissive. Nor was it one where alphas were in charge. I also loved that the book touched my emotions, taking me from laughter to tears AND that it had some really, really HOT sex scenes, my favourite of which involved a dirty phone call from Leon, an office desk and a pair of heels.

This is the closest to true contemporary that I've read in an omegaverse story, and the author blended the ABO dynamic with the present-day incredibly well. Bond Runner is a finely crafted story spanning what must be the best part of a decade of George's life all told, though the timeline does become deliberately fuzzy/fluid towards the end so that the focus is on the meaning behind what the scene shows rather than the when of it happening. In the last couple of chapters, I loved seeing how the characters had grown and how they had grown together, as well as how relationships had developed and matured. All of this was achieved through glimpses into everyday life rather than momentous events and it felt so much more natural, believable and intimate.

There might be those who don't like the fact that this book features what could technically be called OM drama since the heroine is in a very serious relationship with another alpha when she meets the men who are her biological mates. However, it was a vital part of the story, important in allowing us to understand George, her decisions and her emotions. Not only that but it took the book in a direction that was very different to the one usually taken.

George does meet her mates in this book, and meeting them triggers a heat. This generally is followed by the alpha(s) and omega mating, quickly bonding and it's #gameover #togetherforever. Which I guess is fine when the setting is more fantasy/sci-fi based and can be explained away with "fate" and "biology" and "bonds". In Bond Runner we have a heroine who wants it to be a conscious choice, not a biological urge, to enter into a relationship. Thankfully we also have four alpha males who are happy to allow her the time to get to know them and choose them, or not, for herself. Well, Peter, Leon and Ren are happy to let her choose - I'm not sure Mikhail was quite so happy with that plan.

The closest OV I could compare this to would be Kathryn Moon's Sweet Omegaverse series, though this differed in the omega not automatically falling into a relationship once she met her mates. Reading this felt much more like reading an angsty contemporary romance, one where the heroine goes through trials and tribulations before finding her HEA.

so cute!!

Perfectly sweet OV novel. As a debut novel - this floored me. It really was great. Just the right amount of spice mixed with a good dose of ridiculous humor & true friendship.
I really enjoyed that this truly didn’t have any “dark” plot points- no hostage situations, stalkers, ect, that are common in a lot of these books. It’s rare to find one completely without it and as much as I love tension- it was a refreshingly unexpected palate cleanser.
Each of her mates are entirely unique personalities within the harem, her best friends are strong willed and aren’t afraid to tell George (FMC) exactly how it is when she needs to hear it, and the world is developed enough that I was able to immerse myself in it.
Congratulations, J. T. on a completely successful debut!

Sometimes you just can't out run fate or you mate...I mean mates. As George outruns one she attracts the attention of others. It finally dawns on her that she's the highly publicized yet mysterious and elusive bond runner everyone is in an uproar about. She's finally trapped by Mik and is confronted with all of her mates. I really enjoyed the story as the alphas don't force George into their marriage yet help her come to terms that it's just unavoidable. They grown intimate personal connections with her as well as strengthening their physical attraction. Once the hope of Matt diminishes all that's left is for George to decide if she can handle four alphas. And yes she can, she has them wrapped around her little fingers. I do like that the ending does go a little forward into the future with George and her friends. It showed not only the bonds between George and her alphas but that of her long term friendships have become her extended family as well. She is truly loved by those that surround her.

3 stars overall.

the first 50% was so perfect. my rating for the first half is 4.5 stars. loved the premise so so much!! the heroine runs from her mates out of pure stubbornness and refusal to live a life decided by biology. the Hs were so determined and possessive. the pacing was great.

the second half was.... different. i give that half ~2.25 stars.
for a long while the Hs suddenly seemed uninterested in pursuing the h? they're "giving her space", but she just feels lonely and unwanted. idk, it was just weird that they went from determined to win her to just leaving her alone.
for like 10-15% of the book we get super fleeting encounters with only two of the Hs, and nothing much happens in those encounters. for a long while the only things that happen are related to the OM who cheated on her, and i was honestly so fucking done with him that i got frustrated bc of how much i had to hear about him.

at the ~70% mark a shift happens and suddenly we go from no sex to only sex, for like 10%. i would've liked to have actually seen the heroine with the heroes doing domestic stuff too? some sex scenes started right in the middle too, and i was like why 😭 it seemed so abrupt. i would've liked to see them grow closer emotionally for a little while.

at 90% and for the last 10% the pacing is super weird. i had a very hard time tracking how much time passed between scenes. from one scene to the next they went from having one child to have two, and then three. idk, i found the time jumps confusing and unnecessary. a bit of a weird choice, frankly.
and by the end i had a hard time feeling a connection between the h and Hs. i think it's because i didn't get enough emotional bonding scenes between them when they'd decided to finally get together.

but i liked the premise of the book. the heroes were amazing. the heroine was great too. the humorous moments were surprising and i loved it. im gonna keep an eye on this author.

Not Insta-Love & That’s Not Bad

I was hesitant to keep reading this after the h’s first full interaction with one of her mates. The way he treated her and the way the others were fine with it made it seem as though she was an object to be used and abused by them. Not that she was someone with feelings, etc.

Their relationship is fraught with issues. It’s not a light read. I personally did not like the names they called her in bed (my personal preference) as it took me back to them using her as an object, but apparently she liked it. So you do you boo. Outside of bed they do not refer to her in derogatory terms. Although they do discuss their private bed life in front of others, in great detail, which seems disrespectful. (As the h does not know nor gave consent about sharing private info.)

But outside of the bed/bedroom talk it’s a book about what the h wants for herself, and who she wants in her life and why. The issues the h works through are not only about the alpha bonds she has, but her relationships with family, friends, and herself.

It’s more of a realistic view of a Alpha/Omega relationship where things aren’t just glossed over in a that’s the way it should be because they are alphas/omegas, or an instalove forgive everything in a second, or give up my whole life to be a doormat kind of way. That’s why I kept reading the story. You get to see the heroine’s growth and how she connects with the people in her life.

I’m always on the look-out for new omegaverse, and this one was a really fresh take on it!

There were two things that bothered me (which is why I only gave 4 stars). 1: the first interaction with Mikhail (I won’t go into detail because I don’t want to spoil) and 2: the fact that her fiancé obviously didn’t fit her. I would’ve loved to see more of their happy moments to really understand their relationship.

But all the rest of the book, I loved! I especially loved that all the guys were from all over the world and that they had different accents (which really came across in the book). I was intrigued by the laws and worldbuilding, and how it affected the characters directly.

The guys didn’t have my love at first, but after seeing more of their good sides, I began to like them more and more! And George herself was so stubborn in a way that sometimes annoyed me but felt really real. Her two best friends stole the show however, Carter and Polly! I absolutely loved them 😍

Alphas and Omegas are free to love whomever they choose, HOWEVER, if their true mate shows up, the relationship will be dissolved immediately. The moment they cross paths, they are legally married. After George's family was destroyed when her mother met her biological mate, George swore she would choose who she loved. She would let her heart decide, not her biology. So when an engaged George meets her true mate, she runs. But her true mate isn't alone. He comes with bonded mates, all George's. There's only so long you can fight fate.

The premise was fantastic, the execution was mixed. The political angle was good, and the world-building was good. The relationship-building was lacking and I personally didn't like the sexual degradation. Not my kink. George was almost infuriating. The saying cut off one's nose to spite one's face was made for this character. Matt was not a good Alpha and they were not in love. There was no evidence presented that they were ever really happy. George hanging onto their relationship and mourning it after despite obvious better options did not endear her to me. Despite that, I did enjoy the book. There was unexpected humor. George's friendship with Carter was by far my favorite part of the book. It was the only relationship in the book that was fully developed. If I could, I would give this a 3.5. I needed more time with George and each of her bonds individually and together. It was all too superficial outside of the sex scenes.

great storyline

I really enjoyed the book! Such a great storyline! Only thing I would change is having it written in 1st person instead of 3rd. If it had been in 1st person, I could have definitely been pulled into the story more!

While I found much to enjoy in the story, certain scenes and chapters left me feeling uneasy.

Initially, I struggled to acclimate to the writing style, which appeared to condense less significant events and past occurrences, reserving lengthier scenes solely for pivotal moments. Additionally, the use of altered spelling to convey accents felt jarring and disrupted the flow of the narrative.

At one juncture, I grew frustrated with the female main character. Her chapters seemed dominated by self-pity and a stubborn attachment to her fiancé, whose peculiarities were evident from the outset.

Conversely, I found the male protagonists' approach to their relationship with the main character refreshing. Their behavior was characterized by honesty and respect, which resonated with me. While I initially harbored reservations about Polly, I found myself drawn to Carter from the outset.

The intimate scenes are undeniably intense, featuring a plethora of kinks. While the initial heat scene struck me as somewhat disconcerting, largely due to the character's behavior, I remained hopeful that she would exhibit greater discernment and maturity in subsequent encounters.

Overall, while I appreciated many aspects of the story, there were elements that left me wishing for a more nuanced portrayal of certain characters and situations.

Loved the premise but I would have liked if we could have actually seen the characters spending more time getting to know each other and developing meaningful relationships. We do get bits and pieces, but it felt like the most time we see them actually together in the same room is when it gets VERY steamy for pages and pages towards the end of the book. Most of the book is spent with the FMC, George, completely avoiding her mates while they do their own thing waiting for her to hopefully come around in the end. It totally makes sense given the story here, and it is nice that they mostly respect her wish to be left alone, but I personally would have enjoyed more of the guys' POVs (what we do get is sporadic and quite brief) and a bit more of a chase.

I did really like George as well as her family and two closest friends, it was really sweet reading about her and Carter's shenanigans in particular. None of the characters felt like over the top caricatures that you often come across in romance books, and RHs in particular. George's mates were pretty cool (with my favourite being Peter) but I personally didn't grow as attached to them as I did with George and her friends, since we don't actually spend as much time with them.

Overall I enjoyed the book and did lose out on sleep trying to power through it, but I don't think I would give it a reread.

Generally if I get 50-60% of the way through a book and I don’t like it-I’ll stop reading it and move on. Why I couldn’t do it with this book is because I knew the FMC would be ending up with her mates but my god the author wasted so much of the book. So so much. If it wasn’t for the fantastic sex scene at the end of the book this would be a one star book. The author unfortunately wasted most of the book on the FMC bemoaning her mates and trying to stick with a terrible dude named Matt who’s a total zero. It’s an awful read and I honestly don’t recommend it unless you want to skip to the sex scene at the end of the book. And because the author wasted most of the book, the “epilogue” is choppy and weird and badly written. She jumps from character to character without warning and you’ll be several sentences in before you even know what POV you’re on or how many years have apparently passed. All around a huge disappointment of a book-aside for the smut scene.

This is a surprisingly emotionally mature book, WHEN it is about emotions, trauma, past and relationships (not necessarily romantic ones). This book felt more adult than most RH books and it's sometimes nice and very rarely not. Though I have some notes that I've written while I was reading it. Every note is purely subjective and doesn't necessarily reflect the quality of the book.

Well, what can I say... It was an interesting book. Some parts I loved, some parts I really didn't. I'm not a fan of a third person perspective, but it's certainly better that first person POV that shifts from one person to another to third one and to fourth one and so forth. At times, the book felt like... Molasses. Slow, you had to get through some parts (which does NOT mean they're bad or boring). Other parts felt exhilarating (like when ). But overall it was a nice book. Two days were enough for me to read it, so it wasn't bad at all. I'll repeat that all my notes above are purely subjective and they don't reflect the quality of the book. It's simply my tastes. I might read other J. T. Leigh's books in the future, we'll see.

This was a pretty solid read. There were definitely some things that nagged me but overall, I’m not mad at this.

So a couple things to start. I really, really liked the FL when we first met her in the beginning. She’s just, uniquely herself. She doesn’t care how she looks, what others think of her, and she sticks with her gut, her stubbornness legendary. This FL was a gem at the start. Another thing to highlight here, is the writing for all its grammar issues and mistakes, was actually really clever at times and super easy to get absorbed into. The characters all felt organic and natural and not just side character fodder to boost the Character Leads. I really appreciated how real and relatable the FL read as and I could definitely see myself thinking her thoughts if I were in her shoes (she says the most cute and clever lines sometimes and it is completely thrilling and so edible!).

Where I can see this going wrong however is pretty obvious tho. The biggest sin being her long, seemingly one-sided, relationship with Matt, her fiancée then ex-fiancée.

If I empathize, the FL POV on him and their time together makes sense. From her side of things I can see why she thinks the way she does. It’s frustrating to readers tho bc it is always easier to judge something from the outside looking in than standing at the eye of the storm or in the moment.

Watching her pine for a POS is hard to swallow. It’s like that from the beginning when we first meet him, to when they get engaged, to everything after. For readers her actions are excusable to a point, but then after a while she just goes into flat out deniability. She ignores the flags in her relationship.

She starts to change dramatically from what she was at the start of the novel to something smaller, meeker, weaker the more you read. She doesn’t heed her friends opinions, fears or advice, and finally, she jumps the gun on her engagement simply out of a knee jerk reaction for control as well as sheer stubbornness. Her moves are maddening and is no wonder she’s hard to sympathize with after awhile. Even at the 60% mark she’s STILL moaning about her convoluted “love“ for her ex and hopefully the scum will take her back.

But then we get to the last couple of chapters, and everything changes again, and it all just felt, so, so right.

To not give too much away, our FL evolves AGAIN. She paces herself with her new bonds, she progresses at her own comfort and pace with them without needless drama or haste. She tackles her issues with her mother, she opens the door back to furthering her education, she gets the distance and time she needs to really think about her and Matt’s relationship. By the end and at the epilogue this FL was so stunningly HUMAN, and relatable, and perfect in her flaws and growth. This FL had heart and she resonated and endeared herself flawlessly to my heart.

This was a very, very good find in my opinion. Reading this was all consuming at points. I laughed out loud numerous times, I panted and went outside to touch grass at others. I adored how balanced everything was. Nothing was perfect- the way the politics all shake out, each Alpha having their own little tot, the FL not having any sort of big, media crazed wedding or public figure type of career path- but everything was RIGHT. For the characters we meet and get to know and love, this was the only ending I would ever be satisfied with and I am so thrilled to have found this.

Very, very cute. And a very nice read. 💗 This author is definitely someone I want to keep my eye out for in the future.

At first, I wasn't sold on the story. Don't get me wrong. I liked the different view on the Omegaverse and the ABO constellations. I even loved it. The whole world in the book seems so like ours. With just a different dynamic, of course. And all the characters were vividly and humanly. I don't read much of contemporary. I'm not interested much in stories in the everyday world. But I love reading a contemporary setting within another PNR/fantasy setting. And especially with Omegaverse in it. And it was RH, too. Which is an important selling point for me. I wasn't a big fan of the third-person narrative. I like it more personal. First-person is preferred. But it was still well written and interesting.

But my main issue was George. I liked her, but I have a problem with characters, who are too stubborn for their own good and in constant denial. Like things just disappear, if you don't acknowledge them. Therefore, keep things, that aren't good for them and stay miserable. Even, if they could have it better.

George remembered me so much of a different character of another book (with who I was as furiously as with George, because of the very same reasons). Sure, I understand in some way why George act like she did. I get her wish for choices, though, in her case, I think, it was mainly born of her prejudiced opinion, base off the situation with her mum. I'm not sure, if I would call it trauma, but sure a traumatic and damaging experience in her young life. And emotions and trauma rarely make any sense and make people act illogical. And that's what George does a lot. I was furious with her all the time.

I hadn't had a problem with it as much, if it weren't a main part of the book. Sure, she gets better and developed a lot. The same goes for the main male characters. Though, I didn't have any problems with and loved them. They were great. But they all do develop in some ways or not.

But it really was hard to read how much George struggled. And it takes till the last chapters, until she finally found her way. Anyway, the whole drama didn't subtract anything for me. It makes the whole story authentic. Still, I was delighted and loved the last chapters the most. And the last chapter was the best kind of epilogue. Most epilogues are far too short. Here it was a full length chapter with tidbits from their life during their years together. And it gives insight of other stories of the characters in the book. Penny's story, for example. I really hope there will be more.

It was great to read it. And I'm glad I found it. I will have an eye on the author and her next books. Well-earned 5 stars from me.

One of the worst things a book can do is be worse than it should have been. This is painful - I like the story and the characters...well to a point. The good book is there, just under a load of crap... It needed heavy editing by author and a crude editor... I sound harsh but only because I hope the author does it better next time, because there's potential...

A) it should have been written in 1st person, multiple POV; it's in 3rd person limited with few head jumps which is a shame... It makes the prose feel impersonal, very Jane Austen, where it should have been Sara Cate, or at least SJM in ToG; the male POVs are severely lacking, the few glimpses we have are not endearing... Also, since one of them has access to information, they all know basically everything about the FMC without us reading the interactions on paper, and that's just stupid - that's the interesting part...

B) the time and space awareness gets screwed in parts - there are passages that make it feel like there are paragraphs missing because the environment isn't set up... dialog starts before we are told where and with whom we are and it's just jarring... Also the amount of time lapsed is kind of skipped over, so months seem like days or weeks, and that makes some of the relationships weird...

C) it commits the most egregious crime a romance can - at the culmination point of the conflict, I didn't want the heroine to get with her love interests... I wanted her to snub them, to teach them a lesson.... If you whip up the FMC into righteous rage, you can't let the MMCs placate her or distract her with sex... There were multiple points when I didn't really want the smuty encounter - two MMCs were treated kind of right, one got back story but otherwise was kind of neglected, and one was done dirty on multiple occasions...

Also, for some reason, the whole ebook was in cursive, which read like a dream or a memory or something , but that might have been a problem with my device...

Sometimes a book just hits the perfect spot. That was this book for me. I was desperately looking for a book with a resistant h that had to be wooed and chased by her harem but a not a bully. I didn’t want bullying or poor treatment of h by the harem.

This fit into that slot *almost* perfectly. Almost because when one of her mates finally finds her and sends her into instant heat he’s a giant asshole about it *but* while he remains gruff and rough around the edges the other harem members help him reel in his behavior.

This isn’t a particular spicy book but if you’re looking for the angst of a resistant h and wooing Hs this fits that bill perfectly. There is only one full on sex scene, there’s some foreplay and dirty talk in a couple other parts.

You do see them come together eventually culminating in the one full spicy scene but ultimately no scenes through a proper heat or the actual claiming when they officially mate. I get that the future mating is implied by the discussion afterwards but it was a bit anticlimactic not to have it on the page.

After the one sexy scene the book rambles a bit too long considering not a lot else happens. It jumps a bit here and there which was a little confusing but still good.

Story 4/5
Heat 1/5
Angst 2.5/5

Slow burn, the spicy scene occurs around 76%.

No virgins
No condoms
Knotting
Spanking
No scenes with others
No cliffhanger
HEA

Safety - technically h cheats on her fiancée when her heat is triggered, there’s no actual sex, but lots of petting etc. it’s not like she was in control though she actively tried to avoid her mates. Trust me, you won’t like the fiancée. He isn’t written to be likable.

Runner

Even though I loved the story, I would give Bond Runner 3.5 stars, because I felt there were some things the author could have fleshed out better. For example, the relationship with George and her mom resolved too quickly for me, especially considering that George was deeply hurt by what happened to her family. The first time she encountered Mikhail was a turn-off for me; I'm also wondering why the author didn't allow a genuine moment to happen with Peter and George when she came looking for Ren. To me, she turned it into a sex thing, and I felt she killed a beautiful moment that could have started building a strong bond. I dont have a problem with sex but there are moments in this book where the author could have left it out because the scene required something different. I can see that the author is a great storyteller, because I was intrigued and didn't want to stop reading.

Don't misunderstand me, this is a good story, and I will definitely read book two. The book was over 600 pages, which I loved. I also love that it was an RH, because it's hard to find ones that focused solely on the female and ones where the males aren't having romantic or sexual relationships among themselves. Bond Runner is a worthy read, and I hope the author will write more omegaverse books in this series.
