"If your vibe is small-town Hallmark romance but with more spice (and diversity), Two Christmases is the tale for you."— Entertainment Weekly
When city meets country, finding the perfect Christmas will mean finding common ground. Don’t miss this charming opposites-attract holiday romance!
There’s no place like New York City for the holidays…
At least, according to Sonia Gupta. If only she could get South Carolina farmer Beau Abbot to agree. Convincing him to use her family’s art auction house to outfit his new business is turning out to be a hard sell—and keeping things professional in the face of Beau’s Southern charm is a whole other challenge.
A country Christmas can’t be beat…
It takes a lot to impress country boy Beau, given his general aversion to everything in the big city—except possibly Sonia. Certain nothing compares to the charm of Christmas in the South, Beau invites Sonia home to the farm, showing her everything a country Christmas has to offer. But relationship-wary Sonia isn’t looking for a commitment—especially not with a guy who has no plans to stay in the city.
’ Tis the season for romance.
Soon, Sonia finds herself swept up in the festivities—and Beau. Too bad embracing the best of both worlds doesn’t allow your heart to be in two places at once…
Suleena Bibra studied art history in college and loves to travel every opportunity she gets. A bit indecisive, she has worked as a museum intern, lawyer, workers’ compensation adjuster, and private investigator. Author is best, though, so she can continue living out a bunch of other careers without changing out of her pajamas. Suleena writes RomComs heavy on banter, shenanigans, and aggressive whimsy. She spends the rest of her time annoying her bulldog with her love.
These Christmas books have been a real mixed bag this season so it was nice to finally come across a perfectly mediocre 3 star Christmas book. Nothing super duper offensive, nothing super annoying, a lot of Christmas content. It's a Christmas miracle!
The main characters spend two different Christmases together doing all the Christmas activities: one in New York City and one in South Carolina. This was probably the strongest part of the book because sometimes you just want to get Christmassy without extra bull crap. A+ Christmas content.
The problem comes when these main characters, Sonia and Beau, start calling each other by pet names. The pet names "Baby Girl" and "Old MacDonald". ...... I hate this so much I can't even express it properly. These characters are basically the same age they do not need to be calling each other "Baby Girl" and Old MacDonald. Ugh. Ugh.
Horrific pet names aside, there's also an underlying theme of neither character willing to leave their life in their respective homes so they will never work out ever. Until they do because of course it's a romance novel what else was gonna happen. But Sonia does not figure out any of this until like 90% into the book where she dramatically runs away to...India. Without any luggage. And then confronts her parents, goes back to new york city and starts therapy, and like one day later goes back to South Carolina to win Beau back just in time for Christmas. This is way too much unrealistic emotional growth and travelling to squeeze into the 5 pages before the epilogue. On the other hand, this is a very Hallmark Christmas movie trope so points for that I guess.
Side note, this book is probably a secret advertisement for Zaxby's which is mentioned approximately 5000 times in the book and is described as the ideal Southern food which is very incorrect. Zaxby's is mediocre fast food at best and if you're gonna do southern fast food Bojangles is the superior choice. Do not buy into this books' lies about Zaxby's it will only lead to disappointment.
I received an ARC copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.
Thank you so much to Carina Press for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Another super fun rom-com from Suleena Bibra!! Most people know how much I adored Two Houses by Suleena when it released last year. I was so excited to learn that we would be getting another novel from this universe, this time following Sonia, Priya's cousin. This book was promoted as a city Christmas vs. country Christmas Hallmark movie (but dirty), and I loved the city vs. country debate of the book. As someone who's always lived in an urban area, I was very much on Sonia's side of this debate, but I did find myself slowly getting charmed by Beau's country Christmas.
The romance in this book was super cute and it was nice to see this softer, sweeter relationship between Beau and Sonia compared to the fierce, competitive nature of Gavin and Priya's relationship in Two Houses. I do wish there was a more drawn-out slowburn between Beau and Sonia, but if you love high heat and insta-lust, you'll definitely love this book. I also really loved how this novel touched on what it means for Beau to be dating Sonia, an Indian woman, as a white man. I think this story did a great job and highlighting some of the extra steps (and sometimes obstacles) that POC have to face when in a relationship with a white partner.
One of my favorite aspects of this book was definitely the South Asian family dynamics and watching Sonia navigate feeling like a part of Priya and Ajay's family while feeling almost rejected by her actual parents. I think the differences between Chacha and Chachi vs. Sonia's parents showed all the different ways South Asian immigrant parents show love and support to their children. I loved that Sonia got to reconcile with her parents at the end of the novel and that she started therapy to talk though the trauma she's endured from being neglected by her family 💗.
In short, if you enjoy Hallmark movies but want to read one with a South Asian lead, definitely check out Two Christmases when it releases this October!! 4.25 stars overall rounded up.
Country mouse/city mouse opposites attract cute romance in which there’s lots of fun banter between the two main characters, Sonia, the big city girl who works at the family auction house, and Beau, a farmer from South Carolina, who’s business is expanding and he needs to decorating his new offices. When they meet, the sparks fly and Sonia tries to convince Beau that Christmas in New York is the best Christmas and as she shows him the sights and sounds of the city theystart to get feelings for each other and he invites her to experience Christmas in the country. She doesn’t think she can take it, so she turns him down, but can she convince herself that it’s for the best? Thanks to Carina Press and NetGalley for this eArc in exchange for my review.
There is a lot of Christmas content - activities here and there, hot chocolate intake that will last in their blood system all year round, and festivities that will make you wish for the season to come sooner! I think this is a great approach to highlighting the topic of how these holidays are celebrated differently around the world.
So, if you want to read a lot of Christmas festivity activities, this might be for you. The romance itself was decent, but I did not like the main female character, so I could not root for her. I found it annoying how she was going in circles in her head thinking one set of thoughts over and over again. Unfortunately, those horrific pet names and banter that felt quite offensive ruined it even more.
Overall this was quite a slow read for me. Only the very ending had quite a lot of drama and turn of events that felt fast-paced. Would have been better to balance it out a little.
Are you ready for a steamy Hallmark movie in book form? Look no further! Two Christmases is the book for you! This was a cute, low-angst story that gave off all the Christmas vibes.
Sonia is a big city girl. She adores NYC and can't imagine a better place to spend Christmas. Beau is a small town guy from South Carolina who doesn't love the hustle and bustle of the big city life. When they meet at Sonia's art auction, they hit it off and decide to show each other what the other is missing. Can this relationship last with two people who are so opposite?
This was a cute book. It was full of both NYC and small town Christmas cheer. Was it over the top cheesy at times? Yes. The writing style relies heavily on snappy inner dialogue that feels a little surface level at times. The relationship part happened fast (they are together at around 20%), but their differences did seem insurmountable. Sonia was also dealing with abandonment issues from her parents leaving her as a child. That offered a decent amount of depth to this fluff filled story and made me appreciate Sonia more as a fully formed character. Beau was less complex but we didn't get his point of view, so that's to be expected. The supporting characters, especially Priya, were great.
If you are looking for a Christmas themed rom-com, this book will be perfect! Is it going to blow you away? Probably not, but it will be a delightful thing to read under the Christmas tree lights.
Thank you to NetGalley and Carina Press for the advanced copy of this e-book in exchange for my honest review!
This heartwarming and steamy interracial, opposites attract, holiday romance between a city girl and a country boy was the surprise delight I didn't know I needed this Christmas! I really enjoyed the diverse cast of characters and the way they tried to find the good exploring one another's different worlds. This book had a little of everything - the magic of New York at Christmas, paired with the charm of a small town holiday. Great on audio and definitely one of my favorite holiday reads of 2022!
A lovely and festive story, full of humour and festive. i thoroughly enjoyed the characters, rooted for them, and had a lot of fun in reading this novel. I liked the humour and the city-vs-south situation was very funny. Recommended. Many thanks to the publisher for this arc, all opinions are mine
This was a cute diverse rom-com about two different cultures blending and learning from each other. I loved the opposites represented for each of our MCs and how they learned to compromise FOR each other versus sacrificing things out completely.
I do think the dialogue could have been better. It just didn’t seem to flow right in certain parts and felt a little cheesy.
This was an enjoyable story, overall. Some of the tropes that I appreciated: small town/big city; opposites attract; intercultural relationship; parental abandonment issues; commitment problems.
What I liked: The two main characters, Sonia and Beau (although Sonia irritated me at times with some of her reactions). The banter and growing affection between the main characters The contrasting style of the two settings with their respective Christmas traditions
What I disliked: The sex scenes--somehow they read awkwardly and I found them unconvincing The final resolution of Sonia's relationship issues with her parents--it was too facile and quick, considering how much she'd been traumatized by their abandonment.
I am oh so bummed about giving this one three stars. I mean, hello -- once November 1 hits, I am 100% in Christmas mode. The house transition starts and I jump into Christmas romances like nobody's business. I was so excited that this was my first holiday book of the season since it's the second book in the Two Houses series. I gave the first book a solid four-stars and really enjoyed it, so I was hoping that since this story was focused on Priya's cousin/best friend, Sonia it was going to be a winner.
But here's what happened. The book was so focused on giving me all the holiday feels that @SoniaBibra didn't go deep enough. I felt that everything was so surface level with the two main characters that it was hard to get into their relationships and subsequent struggles. It didn't pull me in like the first book, and I found myself wanting to read other things instead of finishing this one.
Did it have great moments? Yup. Are there parts of this I absolutely loved? Sure thing. Was it full of holiday cheer? Of course. It included things like going to Biltmore for the holidays, classic NYC Christmas scenes and holiday lights at the speedway. But, underneath all of that cheer I wanted more. I feel like I got more from the first book than here, so I had to rate it lower, hence the three stars. It's a bit of a bummer because I really wanted to hype this one up.
But here's to better holiday books moving forward... but either way, if @SuleenaBibra writes more in this series I will still pick them up to see what happens to this big family.

The sequel to Two Houses pits holiday-obsessed city girl Sonia (the unsung hero of Two Houses!) against Southern country boy Beau (Beauregard Dean, but he doesn’t like it when you call him that) in a battle of who does the best Christmas… New York City or a peach farm in South Carolina. What starts out as a professional arrangement for the pair decorating his new office turns personal when their chemistry cannot be denied… but relationship-averse Sonia is the polar-opposite of serious romantic Beau and neither of them are willing to compromise. Not on their relationship status nor on the winner of the best Christmas competition. Sonia prefers to keep things casual and not get feelings involved, still feeling the trauma caused in her childhood watching her parents leave her behind year after year. Beau is a serious relationship, long-term and forever kinda love guy, wanting what his parents have. It’s an opposites-attract, breaking-down-each-other’s-barriers kind of story.
With all the heart and humor (and steam) that made Two Houses one of my favorite books from 2021, Two Christmases is the perfect read for the holidays!
The premise was cute. Two people who love Christmas and are obsessed with their hometowns, fall in love while competing over which city does Christmas best.
I enjoyed Sonia’s journey to finding and accepting love. She unknowingly has pushed love away ever since her parents left her in the states with her aunt and uncle in hopes of a better life. Through introspection and therapy, Sonia realizes that there is a future with Beau. While this was heavy topic, I felt it added a lot to the story.
I also enjoyed that the multi-cultural love element. We need more representation and diversity when it comes to love. A lot of Beau and Sonia’s problems stem from their upbringing. Beau is used to a tight- knit family and Sonia is not. They view the world very differently, but it is those differences that ultimately lead to their happiness.
Special thanks to NetGalley and Carina Press and Carina Adores (Harlequin) for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest feedback.

And a romance with multiple holidays? Sign me up immediately!
Add to that two main characters who are as different as night and day, from two very different worlds, with commitment issues and nothing in common but each other...
This is the perfect holiday book. I was able to read it straight through in a single weekend, which makes it the perfect choice for a chilly winter read, snuggled under a blanket with a hot chocolate (or chai) and maybe even snow on the ground.
(Okay, it's a fall 88° here today, but I can certainly dream of perfect Christmas weather and Silver Bells!)
I highly recommend this delightful Christmases story for your holiday wishlist.
"Three glasses into this Southern sweet tea experience and I can already feel the addiction forming."
"I'd call it a Christmas miracle, but with all the work that went into it, there was nothing divine about it."
Suleena Bibra does it again. This book was excellent and I fell so in love with Beau. He really is the perfect southern gentleman. I also thought that Sonia was such a relatable lead, I saw so much of my own fears and insecurities in her. I loved the small competition between Northern and Southern Christmas. This book is spicy and it is well written, but I do wish it was a little bit more descriptive. I also thought that the side characters were great, I loved Anna and seeing Gavin and Priya again. This book would be closer to stars if the last 20% of the book did not feel so rushed. I felt like at the very end of the book Sonia made some weird choices that felt like they came out of left field together and the resolution of the secondary conflict with her parents seemed very easily settled. Thank you so much to Netgalley and Carina press for a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Sonia, a big city girl, works at her family's auction house, and Beau, a former form South Carolina, is expanding his business, so he seeks her help to decorate his new offices. So she tries to convince him that Christmas in New York City is the best by taking him there to see the sights, and in turn, he tries to convince her that Christmas in the country is actually the best. Who will win? This is a cute opposites attract, city vs country, insta-lust, very cheesy rom-com. I would've loved to see a bit more of a slow burn, but the banter was great and so was the relationship development. This is the 2nd book in a series (the first one being Two Houses), but you can very well read this one as a stand alone (I have). If you love Hallmark Christmas movies, this is for you! I received an advance review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This was such a fun & charming read! Even though this is the second book in a series, you can read it as a standalone. I loved Sonia & Beau - I thought they had fantastic chemistry in & out of the bedroom, and I loved the banter between them. We only have Sonia’s perspective, but I think it works really well - being in her head was entertaining at times, but we also got to see how conflicted she was as she was falling for Beau while also dealing with her abandonment issues towards her parents. Family plays a large part in this story, and I loved seeing the chaos that only family can bring. This was a wonderful read to get me into the Christmas spirit!
Thanks to Carina Press & NetGalley for the DRC in exchange for an honest review.
This was a lovely holiday rom-com by a new-to-me author. Opposites definitely attract in this super cute story. The whole idea of city vs country Christmas was fun and I enjoyed seeing both perspectives. The sparks instantly fly when Sonia and Beau meet and she is determined to show him how great a city Christmas is. Beau also gets his turn to charm Sonia with his South Carolina Christmas. The story was sweet with a lot of heart and humor and plenty of steam as well. I had a fun time reading this. If your looking for a light-hearted, fun, holiday rom-com, then you definitely will want to try this out. Thank you to Carina Press and Netgalley for providing a complimentary copy. This is .y honest and voluntary review.
This book gave me all the Christmas and romance one book could have in it. All the New York events and Christmas down South. This was a Christmas movie in a book. It was a 4/5 for me. I want a mug of hot chocolate and candy canes while reading but it August and 95 degrees. Definitely a reread in December is a must.
There were two things that keep this book from being a five star read, that was the use of the word carpetbagger (I didn’t think this was a word to call someone from the North- like to negative to say to someone that would be possible joining your family) the word was him calling her baby girl- I wish he had a better pet name for her
Look, I tried, I really, really did. But it was just so boring and it felt like a literal hallmark movie with the big city career woman FMC and the small town farmer MMC and the awwww shucks and the ma'am and the wanting to show him all that NYC has to offer during Christmas time. The first love scene came at 20% and it was a short bleep of a scene and I was just not into it at all, which is unfortunate because the first book was pretty good and I thought this one would be good but seriously, it was just so boring and I couldn't keep going.
A huge thanks to Carina Press for my complimentary copy and all opinions expressed are entirely my own,
This is a rom-com perfect for fans of Hallmark Christmas movies. The book is a city vs country and opposites attract holiday romance, It's a battle of the wits between Sonia ( a city girl) and Beau (who is a farmer) when she tries to convince him to user her family art auction house for his new business. Sparks fly between this two people as they are all adamant of their convictions . Two Christmases is a holiday romance full of witty banter, relatable characters and setting.
Thank you NetGalley, Suleena Bibra and Carina Press & Carina Adores for the ARC of Two Christmases. This is my personal review. I love books with Christmas romance as the theme. Sonia and Beau were total opposites. The connection and chemistry between the two for me just wasn’t right. I could not feel anything between the two. This was just not what I was expecting from the book. It took a few days to read it – I would put it down and hoped that I would get more from it when I continued to read it. It was an OK romance for me but not one I could or will read again.
This book was so much fun! I loved the different settings from Christmas in Newyork to Christmas in a small town in North Carolina. I absolutely adored Beau and Sonia's relationship. I am a fan of insta love, or in this book insta lust this one was no different. The banter between Beau and Sonia was absolutely stunning and there were parts that had me laughing out loud. This book felt like the most perfect hallmark movie in the best way. Overall this is such a sweet holiday romance and absolutely perfect for this time of year!
I started reading this book not knowing it was the second in a connected series. This book can be read as a stand alone.
I like the idea of this book; guy from the country gets shown a New York City Christmas by the girl who loves New York and then said New York loving girl gets shown a southern comfort Christmas and yet, this book falls flat for me.
While in New York the banter is fun and not truly insulting yet when our FMC gets down south her wit goes out the door and she just comes off as mean.
This is an insta-love, Hallmark movie book held together by hot chocolate and sweet tea.
New Yorker Sonia agrees to a fling with art client Beau, a Southerner in town for a couple of weeks. When the feelings between them deepen, she travels to South Carolina with him for Christmas. Can people from such different worlds find a way to stay together?
This book is so cute! I loved Sonia and Beau, both together and separately. If you like rom coms or chick lit, this is a must-read holiday novel.
Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.
This was a super fun spin on a christmas rom com! It takes the view of City Christmas Vs. Country christmas!
I enjoyed this perspective on a christmas romance. It was fun to watch our MCs go out of their comfort zones to see Christmas through the other’s eyes and falling in love along the way!
This is a bit spicy and also had some hard topics, but overall was really enjoyable!
Thank you Netgalley & the publisher for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
