Fate stepped in the day I met Junior Abbott. A little persistence from the man himself, and our love was meant to be.
For years, we’ve been happily married, living the life I imagined as a young girl. Love, marriage, the kids in the baby carriage. With Junior, I’ve got it all.
Such isn’t the case for my twin brother. When he and his wife ask me to be their surrogate, I readily agree. Without so much as a thought to what it could do to my family, it’s the least I can do to provide this child they so desperately want.
Sometimes love is solid. Other times, nothing comes easy.
When complications arise, I can only hope my fairy tale life still ends in happily ever after.
I LOVED this book. I was filled with so many emotions from beginning to end. It’s a story of love... love for family above all. This story weaves love between husbands and wives, between parents and their children, and love between siblings. It explores the bonds between all of these people and how life can take a turn at any moment.
Leave it to this author to weave such a compelling tale of family, love, and what one good-as-gold woman will do for both. Emmy and Junior have a happy, healthy, real marriage, complete with the ups and downs most marriages experience. Emmy’s brother, Luke, and his wife Lainie unwillingly put all of that to the test in a last ditch effort at the life they’d hoped to have for themselves. Emmy’s utter selflessness, combined with Lainie’s apparent disinterest (that truly masks her worries and fears), make for an incredible story so far. Add to this the insight that Junior’s and Luke’s POVs provide and I found myself wanting to yell at and shake some fictional characters for their communication issues.
This does end on a cliffhanger, but it’s SO worth the read...and the second half of the duet will likely eviscerate me before putting me back together again. I’ll stock up on the tissues now, because I can’t wait for more of this family and their story!
Taylor Delong has become a go to author for me and I was thrilled to finally be able to escape back into the Tanner Clan!! I couldn’t put this book down. From beginning to end, I felt a part of this family and loved seeing how they have grown. Emmy and Junior... what can I say but holy hot and #relationshipgoals! Taylor takes you on an unexpected journey of love and family that is like no other. Now I NEED the conclusion!!!
I did like Love Unscripted it would be the first book that I have read by the author and am looking forwarded to reading what's to come . Even though this is read as a continuation and I normally don't like stories were it ends in a cliffhanger I am still looking for the next one I want to know what's going to happen .
Superb. This book is so good. It has so many emotions and so much love showing through the story you can't help but feel like you are living alongside the characters. The storyline was fantastic and deals with real life issues. An absolute must read in my opinion. I can't wait to read the next one.
Woah! This book really got to me. Let me start off by saying this is my first book by this author. It won’t be my last. Yes, this is a duet book. It did end on a cliff hanger. For some reason I was unprepared for the way it ended. Duh! It’s a duet! Even though I was expecting a surprise I was not expecting the surprise I got or didn’t get. Who knows? That’s why it’s a cliff hanger.
Here’s the thing, the best part for me in this book is that it’s a totally relatable story. It involves a family and then some. The book relays real family issues. Not everyone or everyday is rosy. They don’t all sing Kumbya and get along, They love one another for the most part but their issues are real and they are interesting, complex and very diverse. They have jealousies and insecurities, and so on and so on. Like I said they are real. The main subjects of the story are Junior and Emmy and their very complicated life. Within this book we are let into the lives mainly of Emmy’s family. I feel if I had read the first few books I would’ve been better equipped to relate more to their stories. If not then that is the only area I would’ve liked more background on.
As far as the feels, well this book provides them all. You will laugh, cry, smile, get butterflies, get angry and may even use some colorful language as to one of them. You will also get the heat, really good heat! You will be romanced by this book and that is worth the price alone. Sometimes, a simple look or an I love you can bring you to your knees when you red it in the correct context.
Junior and Emmy have what I would call true love. They have each other’s back but they have their bad days. They have problems out of their control and need to communicate. Even though this is an everyday life story it held my attention and interest. Thereby, showing us that life does change on a dime. We should always be ready to expect the unexpected.
The secondary characters in this story are as important to this book as the main characters. I don’t do spoilers. I feel it is unfair to the author. You can read the blurb and reviews to make your decision.
As you can tell by my review I throughly enjoyed this read. I can’t wait for the next part of this duet. You may not be a new author but you are a new author to me and to this I say, “Bravo, job well done”.
For every 100 books about the journey to happily ever after, there comes a book where they've reached happily ever after, so to read about maintaining it isn't as common as one would think. That being said, Love Unscripted is one of those stories where Emmy & Junior found their happily ever after with each other, as they got married & had kids, and now are working to maintain that state. She's a whirlwind, while he's the calm to her storm, and they just work perfectly. However, some added stress has come into their lives when she does a favor for her twin brother, Luke & his wife, and one of their sweet tiny humans has some health issues. Luckily, Junior remains steady throughout it all, so there's no drama on his front, like him leaving, again another original story moment, while they lean on each other to get through it all. It's amazing how all of them rely on their families to help each other through those rough patches, and none of the family ever lets each other down. See, for these folks, it's always love at the end of the day, which is what makes this story truly beautiful. Now, while I completely loved this journey, it's not over by a long shot, as the talented, and dare I say it, mean Taylor Delong pushed me off a cliff with that intense ending, so now I'm dying inside because I NEED TO KNOW NOW WTH IS GONNA HAPPEN! Anyway, that's all I got, so I'll finish with HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDING TO ALL!
Taylor DeLong does it again. From the moment I started reading, I knew it was going to be hard to stop. Emmy and Junior pick up where Clair and Brayden left off. Set in several viewpoints, the story continues with themes present in Taylor’s previous books. Taylor does a great job introducing characters and slowly, but perfectly reveals more and more about them. Emmy is very easy to relate to. Her character reflects the best qualities of her parents, Clair and Brayden, and is someone that you will immediately want to be your friend. Luke is the brother everyone wishes they had. He is loving, protective, and has a tab at Sir Frosty’s!! Hello?! How cool is that?! What would you do to support your family members? How would you put yourself out there to be sure your sibling can have everything he has ever wanted? Love Unscripted gets deep into this from several angles. To say I’m ready for the next book would be an understatement. Hats off to Taylor for writing another excellent book.
This book hooked me in from the beginning. I absolutely adore Emmy...she’s selfless, loving, compassionate, caring and has a huge heart for her family. Junior is a stand up guy who I grew to love quickly. Their 2 kids Tanner and Tre are precious. I don’t want to give too much away because you need to read it for yourself. It’s a story that will tug at your heart strings and speaks to the love and support of family. This is part of a duet so it does end in a bit of a cliffhanger but the second book comes out soon!
I have been reading a lot of tear jerker and angsty romances lately, but Taylor DeLong's Love Unscripted takes the cake by far! It is not very often that you read a romance novel where the main characters have already gotten their happy ending. The story of Emmy and Junior is the story of how they keep their love and marriage strong. Its full of ups and downs, heartache and love. This story is very relatable, and hit close to home for me. It ends in a cliff hanger, and i am SO excited to read the next book!
This book is filled with family, love, and longing. It showcases sibling bonds at their very best. It is multiple POV and though I enjoyed the different angles this creates, I really wanted to get Lanie’s take on the circumstances. With that being said, it ends on a cliffhanger and, man, I need to know what happens!
This is the first book I've read from this author and the story had me tripped from start to finish! The emotions that are portrayed throughout are superbly written, keeping me reading through the night. It ends on a cliffhanger which only makes me want to read the next one in the series! Fantastic throughout. Well worth a read :)
Family drama fills the pages. The dynamics were amazing. I loved how after a chance meeting at a bar would lead to a happily ever after. Junior wanted Emmy so much that he found her later in Laketon. For her, for her family he will move there.
Emmy's heart overflows with love. When her twin brother asks for a favor, she can't say no. The decision adds so much suspense. I could only hope that all would be well. My stomach churned as I waited to see.
What I didn't expect was the tears that flowed. Junior and Emmy's little girl had been ill. Curiosity had me reading later than I should have. The teasing, without knowing was intense. The night her mother shared the story, the tears flowed and flowed. My respect for Emmy increased then fold. I could only hope that the future would be bright. I didn't hope hard enough. Open the book, fall into the pages and get ready to have your heart crushed. Thank goodness book two is already available.
I loved this beautifully written story about how a large family is there for each other. The story begins in the past where Junion a chef meets Emmy at the bar he is working at. Their attraction is immediate. Junior is the calm to Emmy's storm but they balance each other. We then go to the present where Emmy and Junior are married and have two children. Emmy who is strong and has a heart of gold is asked by her twin brother to do the ultimate favor. The characters are so well developed, the family is so close and the children will have you laughing. The romance is intense, the story is captivating and a roller coaster of emotions. The story ends suddenly with a shocking cliffhanger. You will not be able to wait to start book 2.
My eyes are blood shot, my heart hurts, my feels are a MESS. but I would happily do it all over again. The bond Emmy and Luke share is one that no one can come between . That twin bond is unmatched. Junior broke the mold of sweet , strong, possessive, and loving husband. Emmy snagged her a WINNER….. and the kids Tre and Tanner those sweet sweet babies I could just squeeze them….
3.5 out of 5 stars When Junior meets Emmy at the bar he works at it was love a first sight . He has been there for her in the good times and the bad times . Now they are asked to do the ultimate thing for her brother and sister n law . Now things are growing and in between morning sickness and the trials of their youngest daughter. Will Junior and Emmy survive the onslaught . The characters in this book are written well and you will like them . The family is very close and love being with each other . Junior is a good guy who at first wanted to have fun but he grows up and becomes a really good guy . He is a great father and husband and best friend . Emmy is sweet and she is the only girl in the family . She kind of drove me a little bit crazy she tries to keep up with the guys and ends up drunk a few times . The family is the kind of family you want they defend each other and are there when things go bad to pick you up and dust you off . This is a wacky fun loving family , you will want to be a part of it . This is a sweet read and a fast read , you can read it in an evening . The characters are fun to read. This is an instant love romance and they go from meeting to married and kids . The story is also a bit of real life that goes on about one couple not being able to have children and surrogate situation and all the pitfalls that go along with that . I really liked this story but there are parts of the story that I felt that just were choppy and some of the chapters just felt like there was something missing . Over all i did like the story and where the author was taking us . I am going to say there is a shocking cliff hanger at the end of this book and you will want to dive into the second book right away . This would be a great book to read with a glass of wine and a cozy blanket . So check it out if you love intsa love and family hilariousness .
I'll be the first to admit I absolutely love reading books where it's all about the lead-up to the characters becoming a couple and then getting their happily ever afters. However, it's books like this one that are a rare gem in itself. Getting to your fairytale ending with the one person you love is only the beginning of the story you two write together. But what comes after can at times be the true test of strength for each individual as well as the couple together. There's the needs of each person, the kids (if there are any), careers, families, ect. There is more than just ending at saying "I love you" or "I do".
For Emmy and Junior their true strengths lie in how they balance each other out. Emmy is like a tornado. She comes in all and crazy and at times doesn't seem like she'll be able to hold a conversation for long because her thought just go 100 miles a minute. But Junior is there to balance out her crazy with his calming presence. He doesn't try to change who Emmy is, instead he just tries to keep up. But the balancing doesn't end at just their personalities. They've got to balance out families, illnesses, pregnancies, careers, and still find a way to take a breath at the end of the day and remember they are there for each other.
This is my first book I've read by Taylor and I'm glad to say it won't be my last.
Gah I don't know where to start with this review. Until last week I had never heard of Taylor Delong, until she came to another Author's FB page and introduced herself. I happen to win a copy of Defining Us, but before that happened I put this book in my KU tbr list. I began to read this book and noticed quite quickly her different style and I also noticed I was in love with this style immediately. Instead of the slow get to falling in love, you get a quick insight to their meeting, then a jump to life ten years later. It's a stunningly beautiful tear jerking story that left with a bit of a cliffhanger, and for once I'm not all that mad at that. I want more of Emmy and Junior! I wasn't ready to be done peaking into their lives. Now is just the wait for book two. You will totally fall in love with Emmy who is a tornado of a personality and nobody tries to change her, and Junior only compliments her tornado by being the calm to her storm. Their kids steal some scenes, her family will steal your heart. There's some twists and turns and surprises which make this book beyond five stars in my eyes. Thank you Taylor for finding me as a reader, I'm hooked!
An epic love story of quick love, devotion and a mom who is a HOT mess. This story will make you laugh, cry and want to hug your loved ones.
This author has slayed me. In a really, amazing way. She has taken a family, full of variety, love and dedication and actively involved me with them. The way the characters love hard - and will do anything for family - hooked me from the beginning. I am in awe of her detailed behind the scenes thoughts of the characters. The plot was one that kept you actively paying attention and involved. It is a piece of writing that will take you on a rollercoaster of emotions and leaves you hanging (yes, there’s a cliffhanger!!). Amazing job by this author!
Emma and Junior - your picture of quick love that will last a lifetime. Together, they are truly amazing. The support, love, put up with craziness, and just love each other regardless. Add in her twin, brothers, cousins, and all the family and you have one crazy, fun-filled story of the Abbott family and their extended family. It’s amazing and inspiring!
Love Unscripted is a rare love story where the author digs deep into the relationship of a married couple on an emotional level. Emmy is a tornado and Junior brings balance and stability. The prologue is in the past when Jr first meets and falls hard for Emmy- a girl he never thought he could have. Then comes the emotional day to day roller coaster of Emmy and Junior's life- with kids, siblings and a crazy extended family the story didn't lack action or passion. I particularly loved Emmy's fierce devotion to her family. When her brother Luke and his wife Lainie approach her she doesn't hesitate to act. And what does one say about Junior who gives his full support and loves Emmy so deeply. Although I knew it was book one of the Unscripted Duet the cliffhanger at the end was sudden, unexpected and out of left field. I detest endings that force me to read the second book. This is an endearing story of intense, deep love and that alone is the reason why I want to pick up book 2.
Finally... Emmy’s story. At the end of Forever and a Day, Emmy and Junior got married. But you don’t need to have read the Forever series to read this one!
Emmy and Junior have little ones and living life close to her parents and siblings. Her twin Luke is married to Lainie who don’t have any children but not for lack of trying. Emmy and Junior agree to help Luke and Lainie her their dream of a family. While Emmy and Junior are happily married it’s not all wine and roses. They have their struggles and disagreements.
Taylor has a knack for weaving stories full of the complexities of life while giving us the HEA we expect and crave. While it ends in a cliffhanger, the story is expertly told from Emmy’s POV coupled with Junior’s and Luke’s POV. I can’t wait for Life Unscripted
This is the first time I have read a book of Taylor Delong's and I'm glad I did. This book is about family (and of course Junior and Emmy) but it shows how they get thru the problems and issues that happen in life. Whether a person is married or not, we all go thru different things that make us who we are in life. This books show the ups, downs, twist and turns that happen in life and how people handle them. I have always hated cliffhangers but now I'm excited about the second book to read. Thank you Taylor Delong for a wonderful book to start my reading the journey of Love Unscripted.
This is a wonderful story about sibling love in addition to the Hero and heroine. I don’t know if I could have made the same selfless decision that Emmy makes for her brother. I would like to think I would. This is always the first time I’ve read a book that is written in three POVs. I wasn’t sure how that would go, but worked great. I can’t wait for the next one to see the dramatic and hopefully romantic conclusion. The little girl Tanner is a scene stealer. Adorable.
There are no limits on what generations of love and kindness can accomplish. With a village of loved one's live can be a dream. Humanity has it's faults and weaknesses. The strength of teamwork and empathy can still maintain the simple priceless treasures.
What an amazing book to start this duet. I'm in awe at all the emotions I experienced reading this book...from the highs to the lows. The characters in this story resonate off the pages and make you really want to know them. I am a total fan of this author's work and eagerly move on to the next book!
