Romance ignites, but can it survive a chilling haunting?
Emily Taylor is called to move to San Francisco. An unseen power lures her to an old Victorian house that feels oddly familiar. She eagerly takes up residence in her new home, hoping to escape the darkness that seems to follow her. When she meets her new neighbor, Liam Wesley, more than chemistry ignites between the two of them.
Liam knows there’s something more to Emily than an undeniable attraction. Reoccurring dreams and visions plague them both, and the lust that sparks between them has awoken a dangerous entity. The terrifying phenomena brings them closer, revealing a deep rooted connection to another time. With the help of Liam’s paranormal investigation team, they work together to uncover a series of events, and answers to what is haunting Emily.
What links the two of them to the house they now share? The truth lies in their long-buried past. But the evil that threatened them once before will fight to keep them apart, even from the grave.
Temperance Dawn writes hauntingly, beautiful stories that combine her love of romance with the paranormal world. She writes strong characters who overcome fear and encounter the spiritual unknown. Most of her books center around ghosts and hauntings, but she enjoys dabbling with tales of Vampires too!
She loves all things both dark and gothic, and feminine and frilly. Can you say afternoon tea, followed by a cemetery stroll?
Temperance is a wife and mom to two rambunctious, beautiful kids. She recently moved across the country with her family and is enjoying her new life in the southern United States.
This book was a whirlwind. At first I did think Liam was coming on way too strong, but once you learn some further information, you understand why. Their relationship developed beautifully and the little secrets about themselves were shocking. From the house, to the characters-- everything was developed marvelously! I do have to add that Lexi became with favorite character and I really hope she gets a spin-off. The climax and final showdown in this story felt a tad rushed, but it was wrapped up perfectly. I would recommend this book to paranormal and romance lovers. It was a fun read for sure and I cannot wait for more from this author! I'm ready for book 2, that's for sure.

To make matters worse Liam and Emily find out how they're connected. In a previous life Liam was James and Emily was Abigail and the dreams Liam has been seeing were memories of what happened to him an Emily in a past life.
Time is of the essence. The spirit grows stronger and is intent on claiming Emily as his own. Liam is working hard to keep the past from repeating itself. He failed Emily once but refuse to fail her again. Will he be able to save Emily this time around or watch them perish in the same manner as James and Abigail?
A story of an unbreakable love so strong that it traveled through time and not even death can keep it apart.
Liam and Emily are both drawn to a mysterious Victorian house in San Francisco. As the caretaker of the house, Liam comes to Emily’s aid when strange things begin to unfold around her flat. Visions and recurring dreams haunt them both while a menacing shadow seems to be following Emily around her flat. Liam uses his paranormal investigator skills along with his team to get to the bottom of the haunting. As Liam and Emily grow closer, so does the looming threat determined to keep them apart. Liam will do anything to protect his soulmate while Emily struggles for her survival. Sometimes to fight for your future, you have to fight the past. Temperance Dawn has crafted a sweet and endearing love story set against a sinister haunting with shocking ties to the past. I can’t wait to see where Dawn takes us in her next story!
Emily finds herself drawn to San Francisco, hoping to escape the eerie presence that's haunted her dreams for as long as she can remember. She moves into a historic victorian house where she meets her upstairs neighbor, Liam; caretaker, paranormal investigator, and a man suffering with his own terrible dreams. As their romance blossoms, so too does the possessiveness of her unseen presence, and it's a race against time for Emily, Liam, and his team of investigators to unravel the secrets behind the violent haunting terrorizing them both before it's too late.
An intriguing, romantic, fast-paced book that's a compelling and immersive read! Lose yourself in a story rich in characters, description, and paranormal mystery.
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of Protecting His Windflower by Temperance Dawn and it did not disappoint! I LOVE paranormal shows so when I heard this story revolves around a hunky paranormal investigator named Liam, I was all in!
I loved the story and interactions between Liam and fellow main character, Emily. The author kept me on the edge of my seat waiting to see what would happen next. The perfect amount of twists and turns were sprinkled in and I loved the progression of their relationship. I enjoyed the friendships of the secondary characters and I felt they complimented the story so nicely! I found myself invested in each and every one of them. I recommend this book and I’m so excited to read the next one!
I was so excited to read this book because by reading the blurb I knew it was going to be different. This is written in third person and flows so well and for a debut book I must commend the author for her beautiful book. This is sort of paranormal soulmates romance with a twist. There is a connection between Emily and Liam and you feel it. The more you dive into the book the more you want to know what’s keeping them together. I love how protective Liam is of her from the get go and how hell bent he is to do anything for her even though he has known her physically for a short time. Their chemistry is so sweet and the even though this book is a a short time span a lot of things happen. Liam being a paranormal investigator he wants to help Emily fight the presents there been haunting her for all her life. You will be left feeling content and I cannot wait to read the next book in the series because I need more.
I really love the descriptive writing the author uses in this story. I found myself highlighting sentences, wanting to be able to look back on how smoothly they flowed.
Normally, I’m not a huge fan of insta-loves, however that’s never turned me away from a story and in this case, it made sense as Emily and Liam relived a another life together, those feelings ingrained in their very beings.
I loved the haunting aspect. Ghosts stories have always been some of my favorites. I’ve been interested in the paranormal since a kid, and I love seeing authors takes on it. Dawn drops little bits of information throughout the pages, leading you in unraveling the twisted knot the antagonist is. I found him particularly convincing and thought his being more of a demon like presence made sense.
The ending wraps up quickly, but securely and I’m really excited to see where the author takes their future works!

The love story she's crafted here is so special, and so amazing. It's a true destined love, and you can feel the affection the two main characters have for each other coming out of every word.
•
And on top of that, there's a very well plotted mystery that our gang has to solve that goes back several generations!

If you want a satisfying, gripping, sexy romance to read tonight while you're recovering from your huge meal -- Protecting His Windflower is the perfect book for you!!
An unseen power calls Emily Taylor to move to San Francisco. She thinks the charming Victorian flat will be the answer to a fresh start, a way for her to escape the darkness that follows. But, an ominous presence grows stronger and more threatening in her new home.
This story was well written. It has just the right mix of romance and paranormal. I loved every page, and there was never a dull moment. At first I thought Liam came on too strong, until I found out more about both characters’ back stories. Each character was developed well, especially Liam and Emily. It was an enjoyable easy read, and I will definitely be reading more books by this author. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series!
Honestly, I've read many paranormal romance books. This book, in my eyes, is unique from the rest and stands out in a wonderful way. The plot keeps egging you on, building a suspense and a mystery. It's characters are well written. There are parts of the book where you feel the gravity of the situation in which our Characters are immersed (The risk feels so real!). Kudos to the author for beautiful sculpting the story away and having a perfect pace for romance and ofc the paranormal pieces of the story. I really enjoyed reading this book and am looking forward to the sequel. I hope you do too. So grateful to @authortemperancedawn that I got to read the ARC ❤️ ✨✨✨
Can love survive beyond death? I was pleasantly surprised by Temperance Dawn’s novel Protecting his Windflower. This is a unique story where love transcends death and persists despite a dark force fighting to keep the lovers apart. Emily is an orphan besot by a dark force throughout her life and cannot seem to escape it’s grasp on her. Liam is a paranormal investor who is troubled in his sleep by the experience of a violent death. When fate brings these two together an amazing connection builds and through that connection, they come together to fight against the darkness infringing on their happiness.
I rarely read or watch paranormal. Author Temperance Dawn changed that for me. From the beginning she drew me into Emily and Liam's journey. You will be on edge of your page routing for these two. I recommend you take this unexpected and thrilling romantic paranormal ride. You will not be disappointed.
Man oh man! I am all about slow burns and paranormal. So to get a book that combines both of them perfectly?! I could NOT stop reading! I was up until 2 am the first night and only stopped because my eyes were burning and wouldn’t stay open. Liam and Emily’s story is beautiful and will keep you on the edge of you seat from beginning to end!
My oh my what a great story!!! Even though this isn’t typically what I read I was sucked in !! Emily and Liam story is truly great!!! I absolutely loves how it was told from a narrative point of view!! Definitely enjoy it
I enjoyed the romance between Emily and Liam. I’m a sucker for leading males who know exactly what they want and will do anything to get it and Liam did not disappoint.

Upstairs, her neighbor a paranormal investigator, Liam has had the same nightmare over and over again with no control of the narrative nor how it ends, meets Emily. Their chemistry is igniting and something links them together to the place that they both live in.

I geeked out so hardcore on the fact that this was a haunting and possession. If anyone knows of any other books that pertain to this genre or even close to touching this book, please give me book recs!
Rating: 5/5 Spice: 🌶️.5 Tropes: 👻 Fated Mates 👻 Touch her and die 👻 Forced Proximity 👻 Only one bed
I’m a big fan of ghost stories, so I was very excited when I won, Haunting Emily, at Mel’s Mindscape party.
Desperate to escape the persistent shadow darkening her happiness, Emily is drawn to a mysterious Victorian house in San Francisco, where she is hoping for a fresh start. Unfortunately, small, strange occurrences continue to happen in her new home, but it isn’t until she meets Liam, the neighbour, caretaker, and paranormal investigator, that things begin to amplify, and they both come face to face with the possessive ghost of their past. In Temperance Dawn’s words, “Liam had been infatuated with anything that had to do with ghosts and hauntings since he was a boy”. Liam comes on fast and heavy, but there’s a reason behind his forwardness, and Emily doesn’t seem to mind, in fact she appears to enjoy his attention. He’s kindness, and willingness to help protect her, makes her feel safe. As their relationship flourishes, Emily’s shadow strives hard to keep them apart and the pair find themselves battling with their pasts.
This is an intense and intriguing story filled with romance, paranormal mystery, and dark secrets.
I really liked the sub characters in this story, they had engaging personalities and you could really feel the close ties they shared with the main characters.
Holy Crap! What an unexpected and thrilling ride! Liam is James and Emily is Abigail. Say what! Not time, death or an obsessive evil spirit is enough to keep these two apart!
Love, love, love Liam and Emily. Their chemistry, their love, both past and present, and their determination to get to the bottom of this haunting once and for all!
Emily after living a rather lonely life, haunted for as long as she could remember by a dark shadow, suddenly feels the urge to move over eight hundred miles away to a historical victorian house that she hadn't didn't realized she had been in before. Fear had become a constant in her life until she meets the upstairs tenant/caretaker of the home she just moved into. Liam Wesley knew the second he saw Emily, she was the same girl of his dreams. Nightmares he's had since he was in high school. Always the same, always her expect unlike those nightmares he would fight tooth and nail to protect his girl, his windflower.
This story is as fast paced as their love and though their relationship is far from conventional when two souls are meant to be together, time is irrelevant. Especially two souls like theirs that had fought to the very end for their love both in this life and the last.

The minute that I saw that this book included paranormal investigators – I was all in. I love the drama and suspense you get watching shows like that on TV, so to finally have it in book form? OMG, YES PLEASE! I thought that Dawn gave the readers a story that they could cling to; even if you don't like paranormal books, the romance aspect will keep you entertained. Me, I loved how she was able to include both, and neither felt overpowering. The plot was great, too, flawlessly merging multiple character POV's and timelines. At first, I wasn't too sure about the jumps in time – or the seemingly insta-love between the characters, but as I read on, I understood and really enjoyed Dawn's choices in putting them all together the way she has. I enjoyed Dawn's writing style's descriptive language and flow, the slow build resolution and reveal of the backstories that link everything together. The relationships between certain support characters were great – total squad goals right there! The romance aspect of the plot was… intense. As I've already mentioned, the seemingly insta-attraction at the beginning put me off a little, but once I understood that wasn't what it was, and Dawn turned the heat up even more, I enjoyed it immensely – Liam and Emily are fire, for sure! I think Liam needs to learn another term of endearment though, baby seemed to be the only one he knew – and he used it a lot! I did feel that the ending came too soon, and I felt a little disappointed when I turned the final page – that was until I saw that the next book is on the way – and revolves around two more amazing characters. I'm looking forward to continuing my journey in the world Dawn has created, both for my paranormal loving heart, and my soft and squishy romantic side!
Emily and Liam in Protecting His Windflower by Temperance Dawn was such a delight for a brand new indie author with her debut novel!
The premise of of the story is that Emily Taylor has a strong feeling to move to San Francisco, where she ends up meeting her love interest Liam, who happens to be a paranormal investigator, and sweet on the eyes too.
I don’t normally read paranormal romances, but I had to give this one a shot, because it’s Temperance and she’s such a sweet author, great person!
This was a slow burn indeed when it came to the storyline, but that must be how paranormal plots are. I enjoyed it, it was good. Especially Emily and Liam, they had quite the whirlwind of a romance and the twists and turns I went on during their romance was quite the whiplash, in a good way!
Liam and Emily were kept apart by a malevolent ghost who thrived on keeping the two apart in their current life, which I don’t want to spoil it but you find out more history between the three characters, which was very different for me and I liked it.
****Oh, by the way, Windflower was such a clever name and really enjoyed when that was revealed!
The only little detail that I was unsure of was the repetition of Liam and Emily’s feelings throughout the story, the dialogue and inner thoughts. Otherwise, this was a four star read for me and would recommend it, especially if you love paranormal slow burn romances, this is a great pick!
As a long-time fan of the paranormal, ghosts and hauntings alike, and a lover of romance, Haunting Emily is a book definitely up my alley.
I loved how the connection between Liam and Emily was established right from the beginning and it only deepens the more I dug into the mystery of why they were both being haunted and who was haunting them. I also loved the attention to detail and the research that was done into making paranormal investigations more realistic with the proper equipment and techniques being used.
Most of all, I loved how Liam and Emily's 'found family' of Trey, Luke, Lexi, Dave and Liam's parents had their backs 1000% and supported the couple through thick and thin.
The whirlwind romance between the pair is grounded in their shared history and I was praying for them to overcome the haunting to reach their happy ending.
This was my first book from this author and it was so good!! It is a paranormal ghost romance with lots of suspense and mystery. Dawn did a great job with this story. The story development and characters were so well done. I was kept on the edge of my seat and could not put it down! The romantic aspect of the story was so good. While the characters’ attraction was quick it was more of a slow burn in my opinion. I felt like It fit with the story though, especially due to Emily’s inexperience. Liam was so sweet and patient with her. Yet once they became intimate it did not disappoint with the steam factor! I will definitely be picking up more books from this author. If you’re a fan of paranormal romance, you’ll absolutely enjoy this!
One of the 1st paranormal stories I just loved! My only regret is I don’t have book 2 to read lol! That’s the book I discovered I loved this author with! Her story telling is in such detail the reader has no problem visualizing scenes. I absolutely love Liam, Trey & Luke! Liam’s parents are amazing as well, so supportive and nonjudgmental! Liam and Emily hit it off beautifully. Temperance didn’t disappoint once again! I almost dropped my phone as she described a few of the ghostly scenes, which to give credit as good as she did in writing those scenes, the steamy ones were just as believable and juicy!
I adore this book! I may read it for a 3rd time! The love story between Emily and Liam is so pure and so well done! Temperance Dawn is a talented author who knows how to write a paranormal romance!
The story follows Emily who moves to SF to get away from a haunting she’s been experiencing all her life. But in attempts to move farther way, she moves right into THE flat of where the entity had been reaching her from. Liam, a paranormal investigator, wants to help and uncovers that he is every bit a part of the haunting as Emily is.
Such a guilty pleasure read! Get this book on your TBR list!
It was a sweet love story with a paranormal side. It definitely had me intrigued and wanting to know the reason behind the haunting. I like that it was a standalone. So no cliffhanger! It was written in 3rd person, which I don't mind. I like that we can still get "inside " both main characters thoughts. I really like Liam! I need a Liam of my very own. I also like Emily of course. She has an inner strength that makes her a desirable character. I look forward to Trey and Lexi's story.
Talk about a second chance romance! This book was fun to read BECAUSE of the chilling descriptions when it came to Emily's haunting. How lucky for Emily that Liam is a paranormal investigator this time around? My favorite thing about this book is the communication everyone had with each other. There were no games no misunderstandings which is why Liam coming on so strong towards Emily didn't bother me at all (even with their interesting history). Can't wait to read more from Ms Dawn.
Temperance Dawn has a beautiful way of setting the scene and developing a strong foundation for the story to be built. This story has layers and a compelling plot line. I was up late with excitement and I was up into the night afraid of ghosts! The twists were unexpected and I found myself surprised I didn't catch on sooner. A well rounded read and I am reading the sequel in the future.
