The first adventure in a tremendous new Western series from Casey Nash!
On his way to his first assignment as a range detective, Eutychus Bly and his family pass through Kingman, Kansas for a short stay. Kingman was where their last homestead was, the one where their house was burned to the ground and their crops torched all compliments of a cattle baron by the name of Herman Stokes.
Sheriff Tobias Youngblood, a crony of Herman Stokes, makes a bad mistake when he arrests Eutychus on a trumped-up charge. Del Bly, Eutychus’s twelve-year-old son, comes to his father’s rescue only to be backhanded by the sheriff. He sustains a broken nose.
Myra Bly sends a telegram to Marshal Jubal Stone asking for his help. Justice will soon come to Kingman. It will take some time, but the powers that be will be called to account.
Come along for the ride. Enjoy this new series about Eutychus Bly, a farmer turned frontier lawman.
Great story to begin a new series. Looks like this series will turn out as good as the Stone Series. Looking forward to many more stories in this series yet to come. Let's see what happens next, on to book two of the series.
Eutychus Bly is a freshly minted Range Detective, trained by none other than Marshall Stone, himself. Bly and his family head back to Kinsman, where he had a homestead, only to find out a murderous land baron has taken over.
The story itself is fine though its lacking what a western in this vain should have, action. Most of the action seems to be when the law has the drop on the villains or are numerically superior. Just seems odd. Bly has been trained by Marshal Stone to be a range detective. Only he gets himself in trouble and arrested by a crooked lawman, in the pocket of a rich land grabber. His family call on Stone and his deputies for help.
Recommended for a quick read, enjoyed it for the most part.
This was an excellent exciting western where Eutychus Bly teams up with U.S.Marshall Jubal Stone and his two deputies to clean up a town of land grabbers and murderers. It was well written and action packed and a story that I would highly recommend!
