An Iranian defector shows his true colours and returns to his own country - taking a vital piece of intelligence equipment with him.
The race is on to capture the turncoat and get the equipment back. Only one man is up for the job - American super-spy Richard Yokely.
In the past Yokely served in the Army, the CIA, DEA and the NSA. But now he works for Grey Fox, the super secret agency that takes care of business that the White House would prefer stays hidden.
And with a possible World War Three approaching, Yokely is America’s only hope.
Stephen Leather was a journalist for more than ten years on newspapers such as The Times, the Daily Mail and the South China Morning Post in Hong Kong. His bestsellers have been translated into more than ten languages. He has also written for television shows such as London's Burning, The Knock and the BBC's Murder in Mind series. For much of 2011 his self-published eBooks - including The Bestseller, The Basement, Once Bitten and Dreamer's Cat - dominated the UK eBook bestseller lists and sold more than half a million copies. The Basement topped the Kindle charts in the UK and the US, and in total he has sold more than two million eBooks. His bestselling book The Chinaman was filmed as The Foreigner, starring Jackie Chan and Pierce Brosnan and grossing more than $100 million.
When an Iranian defector shows his true loyalties, steals a vital bit of kit and flees for home, there may be only one man who can stop him, Richard Yokely. Other thriller writers must be envious of the way Stephen Leather delivers outstanding thrillers every single time. He appears to not have a bad book in him. Richard Yokely is one of Mr Leather’s side characters, talented, with ruthless and singular focus and a man you definitely want on your side. This is a novella so the focus is on page turning action as Yokely and his small team chase down the bad guy as he makes his way across the Middle East towards home. We are introduced to a world of clandestine operations and military units that live in a world under the radar and Yokely’s team burn through them heading for their target. I liked the clever plot device that required the bad guy to briefly “show” himself to his pursuers. But then the whole plot was a delight to be honest, a captivating thrill ride from one of the best. Not much more you could ask from a novella or thriller.
Another great story by Stephen Leather who has the ability with his writing to keep you gripped from start to finish. Lots of action and great descriptions of the characters and area. Looking forward to reading more.
What an absolutely thrilling book from the very start to the end, it kept me enthralled as the story got more intense, what a book, should be a film really. Can't wait for the next one.
Yet again another great thrilling read. I couldn't put It down. I love Stephen Leathers books. If you've never read any of his books.. Then read spider Shepard series ..
